Restoring SOA suite on a new host fails.

SOA Suite is 10.1.3.1, and upgrade to 10.1.3.3.1.
this suite run on windows 2003.
I do the restore according to admin guide chapter 18.3.3
but when run the 3rd step
bkp_restore.bat -m node_restore -o inst_register
it prompts:
Service Oracle-OracleSOAServerProcessManager in a state that can't be recreated.
Please remove it manually first.
I have checked, there is no Oracle-OracleSOAServerProcessManager service on the new host.
any suggestion?

Do this.
Stop services in A, make a copy of all Oracle Home, etc/oratab, /var/opt/oracle and so on
and coppy them to the B.
Then in B, restore the copy and make a chmod -R 750 for the complete ORACLE_HOME, then run the root.sh
After that, just make a little change in the host file, and put as an alias the name of A in B.
Then run the script $OH/chgip/scripts/chgiphost.sh -mid
and for the source use a and target use b for name and ip.
Check the log and if it's ok, just remove the name of A in the host file as alias.
Hope this helps.
Regards.

  • SOA suite: configure a new oc4j container, licensing and support

    Hi
    We have a SOA suite installation (10.1.3.4).
    Default installation is containing a OC4J_SOA running the esb, bpel etc.
    Now we have a java ear (java web service), and would like to deploy this to a dedicated oc4j container.
    So we want to configure a new oc4j instance named oc4j_jws.
    Actually, we have already done this, and it is looking good.
    Now I only want to make sure the configuration of a new oc4j container is not violating any licensing and support agreements.
    We have soa suite license.
    I believe a soa suite license allows for configuration of additional oc4j containers.

    The adding of oc4j instances is at least well documented within the Oracle Application Server Administrator's Guide:

  • Using RMAN restore the database on a new host in ASM

    Hello All,
    I am trying to restore a database without using RMAN database duplicate.  I want to do set new name for datafile and rename log file for online logs and change database name at last using NID.
    here are details
    source database - APSPROD / server - X
    target database -  EMERALD / Server -Y
    Compressed backup is copied to destination server and I am trying to restore database using RMAN. Here is my init.ora file
    cat initAPSPROD1.ora
    DB_NAME=APSPROD
    compatible=11.2.0.3
    sga_target=8G
    CONTROL_FILES='+DATA_DM01/EMERALD/controlfile/cntrl01.dbf','+RECO_DM01/EMERALD/controlfile/cntrl02.dbf','+DATA_DM01/EMERALD/controlfile/cntrl03.dbf'
    DB_BLOCK_SIZE=8192
    db_file_name_convert=(+DATA_DM01/APSPROD,+DATA_DM01/EMERALD)
    log_file_name_convert=(+DATA_DM01/APSPROD,+DATA_DM01/EMERALD,+RECO_DM01/APSPROD,+RECO_DM01/EMERALD)
    DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST='+RECO_DM01'
    DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST_SIZE=5500G
    So from above you can see that control file should be restored to +DATA_DM01/EMERALD and +RECO_DM01/EMERALD path.
    Question -
    when I am trying to restore control file. It creates an ASM alias name in +DATA_DM01/EMERALD/controlfile/cntrl01.dbf',+RECO_DM01/EMERALD/controlfile/cntrl02.dbf',' and +DATA_DM01/EMERALD/controlfile/cntrl03.dbf' but It creates fully Qualified ASM Filename  under +DATA_DM01/APSPROD and +RECO_DM01/

  • Install SOA Suite 10.1.3.1 fails with a 'Unable to create home "oracleas1"

    each time I try to install in shows this error:
    Unable to create home "oracleas1" at "C:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1". There are existing homes with the same name and the same location.
    I previously had the preview release on this machine, but I uninstalled it and removed the directory. I also checked the windows registry, but it appears to be clean.
    After the error message there is a C:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1\install.platform. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Bret

    Vipin,
    Thanks for the reply. However, the environment variable ORACLE_HOME was not set. Remember I had looked through the registry to make sure it was clean. This included the environment variables that are defined therein.
    I did get around this problem by not using the default install path. I changed c:\product to a different directory name and it work. It is strange that it had a problem with the same path that the previous SOA preview was installed to. Since the directory was not there and I could not find anything in the registry. There must be a file in the %WINDOWS% directory that has information about other oracle installs. At least that is my guess. It is apparent that a deinstall does not remove everything :)

  • Restoring Backup Set to New Host

    Hi Team,
    I am working on the RMAN Restore operation on the New Host.
    I had taken the hot backup of my database (name :Test) with all ControlFile, DataFile, & Archivelog Files using RMAN backup command,
    RMAN>backup database plus archivelog;
    Now I want to restore this backup set on the New host.
    So for this I have same Oracle 9i version installed in the same production path as it was there in the old host.
    i.e same production path for oracle directory.. C:/oracle/
    Now I had created the new database in this new host with the same name as Test and also the same passwords
    Now if I am using my restore controlfile commands here then it works properly as ,
    RMAN> restore controlfile from 'E:\Tempdest\CTL_C-315497057-20061017-01';
    Starting restore at 17-OCT-06

    channel ORA_DISK_1: restoring controlfile
    channel ORA_DISK_1: restore complete
    replicating controlfile
    input filename=D:\ORACLE\ORADATA\TEST\CONTROL01.CTL
    output filename=D:\ORACLE\ORADATA\TEST\CONTROL02.CTL
    output filename=D:\ORACLE\ORADATA\TEST\CONTROL03.CTL
    Finished restore at 17-OCT-06
    But if i mount the database to restore the datafiles it is giving me the following error.
    RMAN> startup mount;
    database is already started

    You do not need to create the database on the new host ahead of time. However, since you are on Windows, you should create the Window's Oracle service with oradim.
    If your intention is to simulate an actual restore to a different host, then you should refer to Restoring the Database to a New Host, otherwise Aron's link above should help.

  • Restore to new host from tape

    Hello!
    Oracle 10.2.0.2
    Linux x86 Red Hat Enterprise
    Netbackup 6.0
    Netbackup 6.0 MP5
    Netbackup Oracle Agent
    Production server; 2,5 TB
    Hello
    Id like to restore a backup from tape to another host
    But i am having doubts regarding the restore script, ive done a channel for maintenance with success, so i think netbackup is okey installed.
    Now i want to restore a backup to the new host, witch has been pre-configured with same catalogues, and oracle binaries.
    Before this script i will manually restore spfile and put the database in nomount, and set DBID
    run
    ALLOCATE CHANNEL ch0 type 'SBT_TAPE';
    ALLOCATE CHANNEL ch1 type 'SBT_TAPE';
    RESTORE controlfile from autobackup;
    ALTER DATABASE mount;
    RESTORE database;
    RECOVER database;
    ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS;
    RELEASE CHANNEL ch0;
    RELEASE CHANNEL ch1;
    }When i enter this script, i guess netbackup wont allow me to come and claim a backup from someone else, so i have configured netbackup master server to cllow restore to alternate host, and i have configured this new host to trick netbackup that he is the old one (NB_ORA_CLIENT), but im having doubts about the parms parameter in rman, i think i need to define the policy somewhere, but i dont know where. Have any of you completet a similiar task once, then maybe u can shed light on me.
    Thanks!

    siva_pappu wrote:
    Hi,
    Have you tried the restore? If yes and any errors received, post them to get the help.
    Some information is required to finalize the script.
    Up to what time you want to restore and recover? depending on it, you have to use "set the until time " clause.
    you are trying to restore control file from backup, so "RECOVER database" will not work. have to use "recover database using backup control file until scn/until time '<time>'/until scn". To know about all the options, refer manuals, metalink, etc.
    in the env params, I guess policy is not required.
    example script:
    run
    set until time "to_date('10-apr-2010 10:00:00','DD-mon-YYYY hh24:mi:ss')" ;
    ALLOCATE CHANNEL ch0 TYPE 'SBT_TAPE' PARMS 'ENV=(NB_ORA_SERV=master_serv, NB_ORA_CLIENT=client_where_backup_was_taken)';
    ALLOCATE CHANNEL ch1 TYPE 'SBT_TAPE' PARMS 'ENV=(NB_ORA_SERV=see above, NB_ORA_CLIENT=see above)';
    RESTORE controlfile from autobackup;
    ALTER DATABASE mount;
    RESTORE database;
    restore archive log from seq <start number> until seq <end seq> ;
    RECOVER database using backup control file;
    ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS;
    RELEASE CHANNEL ch0;
    RELEASE CHANNEL ch1;
    The archive logs required for recovery can be identified from your source database v$archived_log based on the recove until time.
    Thanks,
    SivaOk, i didnt think about that, i guess what i want to do is using backup controlfile until cancel. Wont he go into the tape and find the needed redo logs himself, i did not know that i needed to restore them to my disk before?

  • Single SOA Suite Install with multiple oc4j instances and java processes

    We right now have 5 BPEL processes and 5 ESB processes all running under one java.exe process. We would like to seperate some of
    them out into their own java.exe processes without having to install more
    %ORACLE_HOME% instances of SOA Suite. I can create an oc4j instance but of
    course it doesn't have any SOA Suite stuff deployed to it. I tried to see what
    the install would do with this new oc4j instance but it wants to create a new
    %ORACLE_HOME% with an entire installation of SOA Suite.
    Is there some sort of way to clone oc4j instances that have SOA Suite deployed to them so that you
    don't need multiple %ORACLE_HOME% instances?
    ### How is this Issue Impacting Your Business ###
    We really don't want to have a lot of %ORACLE_HOME% instances to have to maintain. We are
    migrating projects over from our current integration server product and we'll
    have potentially dozens more BPEL and ESB projects. We definitely want to
    group and isolate projects so that outages of one project do not bring down
    others that are unrelated.
    We are currently experiencing periodic problems with one BPEL project that requires recycling but all the other BPEL and ESB
    projects get recycled also. If we could put this project into it's own java
    process without creating another SOA SUITE instance, it would be a big
    help.
    ANSWER
    =======
    You can create multiple domains in BPEL or create multiple systems/groups in ESB to group different projects.
    MY REPLY:
    =========
    We have been using systems/groups in ESB but they all run under the save java.exe process. I would assume that having a seperate domain in BPEL would also run in that same java.exe process.
    Right now, the one BPEL project we have a problem with will gobble up all the JDBC connections from time to time and that requires a recycle of SOA Suite, which means all BPEL and ESB projects that run in that java.exe process get recycled also. We're working that issue in a different ticket.
    It would be nice if the SOA Suite installation would install against a new oc4j instance and not assume it has to create a complete %ORACLE_HOME% instance. The components of SOA Suite seem to be J2EE based components.
    Scenario: I already have an oc4j instance called oc4j_soa and a complete %ORACLE_HOME% installation of soa suite. I then create a new oc4j instance from Enterprise Manager. Then I would deploy the esb-dt, esb-rt, orabpel, etc. components of SOA Suite to that new oc4j instance and modify the necessary config file so that it can work with OHS and the SOA Suite Databases. Is this possible?
    Does anyone have any experience with this or do people typically install multiple complete installation of SOA Suite with mulitple Oracle Homes?

    Hi,
    yes, on metalink you get in touch with real experts....
    You have to install serveral application servers to get different ORACLE_HOMEs.
    For each one, you can install a BPEL PM.
    But: For each BPEL PM you need your own database instance, or you have to configure them as a clustered BPEL installation.... (but i do not know if this work with non RAC DBs)

    .. As this is optional the config assistant moves onto the following assistants however it STILL fails on the BPEL Process manager Config assistant with the same
    Failed at "Could not get DeploymentManager".
    This is typically the result of an invalid deployer URI format being supplied, the target server not being in a started state or incorrect authentication details being supplied.
    More information is available by enabling logging -- please see the Oracle Containers for J2EE Configuration and Administration Guide for details.
    Configuration assistant "Oracle BPEL Process Manager Configuration Assistant" was canceled.
    Why is this not working I seem to have do all steps recommended any ideas would be appreciated

  • [HELP] Problem with restore and recovery to new host

    Hi, guys!
    I have been trying for two days, but still cannot get it to work.
    I have taken a full hot(online) backup with archive logs as well as the control file and SPFILE, and then copied the backup to the new host with the same directory structure and settings. Finally, I have tried to restore & recover the database on the new host but failed during the restore process.
    Both the original host and the new host have the same Oracle installed down to the patch level. I couldn't figure out the proper solution to this problem base on my limited knowledge about Oracle DB.
    Could anyone help me out here? Any advice would be appreciated!

  • Listener error while restoring to new host

    I'm trying to restore a production database to a new host using a complete RMAN backup following these instructions:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/backup.102/b14191/rcmrecov.htm#i1006453
    I'm trying to force the database to start in NOMOUNT so I can restore the control files, then the data files. I took a crack at editing the initialization file, but I'm not sure I got things right, as I'm trying to restore a single-node RAC to a non-RAC system. Both servers are Windows.
    I'm getting the following error:
    RMAN> startup force nomount pfile='D:\Oracle\product\10.2.0\TSBAK\database\initt

    Thank you for your reply!
    The tutorial emphasizes that I need jdk 1.6 update 11 in order to setup.
    The newer release of wl server comes with jsk 1.6 update 14.
    When I tried to run:
    setup -jreLoc C:\Oracle\Middleware\home_11gR1\jdk160_14
    no setup screen appeared.
    Next, I setup stand alone jdk 1.6 update 11 and add it to path,
    but setup -jreLoc C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_11 failed too, since no setup screen appeared
    So I uninstalled version 10.3.2, installed 10.3.1 to follow exactly the tutorial specs.
    Does one has to pay oracle consulting, in order to have an installation of soa suite up and running for development?
