    Hi All,
I have Toshiba M305D-S4829 model laptop, recently it is getting turnoff suddenly  in the middle of the work. After that I have to wait for 10 to 15mins to start my laptop again. It seems to be problem with heet. I am not sure.
Can any body please suggest what would be the good solution for that.
    Thanks,

OVERHEATING is the #1 cause of immediate shutdown to prevent damage to the unit.  Not to say that hardware failure or sfotware conflicts do not rank high.  Check the power adapter and wiring for any signs of fray aspect, then check the fan and exhaust ports for cleaning of dust mites, etc. Has there been any electricla spikes of late there, and is a quality surge protector in use?  Remove the battery to see if unit runs without a rcharge action in progress.  Make note of hat you were doing at the time of shutdown and let us know.  Thanks

  • Toshiba M305D : blue windows screen during the install of Windows 7 / Vista, no Audio on Windows XP

    Dear Users
Last week I had a clean install of Windows 7 64bit on my M305D-S4830 laptop.
I've used this OS on this machine before, and it worked fine.
After installing Win7, the device manager showed 2 unknown devices. First I've installed the O2 multimedia card reader, and it went ok. Secondly I've installed for the unknown device "hdmi audio" a hdmi audio driver from ATi, since the notebook has AMD 780V chipset and a Radeon HD3100 (it hasn't any hdmi output, but I didn't want to have any unknown devices).
    And my nightmare begun.
While restarting after the driver upgrade, my brand new Win 7 boot hang on blue screen code: 0x00000124, which is common for many hardware and software faults. I ran safe mode to clean the system from the hdmi audio driver, but the catalyst install manager dind't let me to remove it. Since it was a fresh install on a formatted HDD, I took the time for another clean install (20 mins). But during the Win 7 install, the installer hang on blue screen, guess what, code: 0x00000124. I changed to the factory-backup Win Vista disks of my laptop, but Vista had the same problem, I couldn't install this OS either, blue screen during install, too.
I took a Win XP Prof SP3 as a last option, and I could finally install it. But after the install, I had problems with the Radeon HD3100, I couldn't install the driver from the .exe, I had to make it from the device manager via properties/I choose to/graphics adapters/own disk. So I don't have the control centre, but the display works in 1280x800.
The bigger problem is: no sound.
The device manager in Win XP shows only one unknown audio device: the hdmi audio. I can't install the conexant drivers, because it says I don't have the device for that. When I install the ATi hdmi driver for XP, I get the blue screen with the error 0x00000124. Nice.
I have updated bios, and made a proper format with the partititons deleted, but it didn't helped. I think the Vista/7 install crashes at the point, when it tries to install the audio driver during OS install, because the XP was running until I have tried to install it, too. But I can't configure the Vista/7 install not to try loading it.
So my laptop is only comnpatible with XP, the install of Vista or 7 crashes. And in XP, I have got no audio devices, therefore no sound. You can imagine, how glad I am looking at my Harman/Kardon speakers right now...
    Any ideas?

    Any ideas?
Alex, restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. If you didn't burn them, order the discs.
       Order Toshiba Recovery Media
If it doesn't run properly after that, you have a hardware malfunction.

    Win 8.1 Toshiba Satellite Pro C50 - A

I would suggest you to use some disk checking tool and see if the reading/writing of data is working fine from all the disks.
If its fine then you should talk to Toshiba Support on this.

If you are talking about the hard drive it works fine, i was running Ubuntu on it before this and i never had a problem, and if you are talking about the actual disks they work fine to i have used them before and they are from manufacturer, but to make sure
i put my old hard drive back in and made a recovery flash disk and its been stuck at 26% for like an hour now...

  • Tried to restore Toshiba Satellite L300D to factory settings... PLEASE HELP.

    MODEL NO: PSLC8C-04401R
    Hi guys,
I tried to reset my laptop to factory settings and a whole mess followed. My laptop did not come with recovery discs, and I'm in the process of getting a Vista installation and recovery discs now.
So long story short, I was trying to reset the laptop (which was working perfectly fine) so I could transfer files over from another laptop, which I have on an external hard drive.
After I tried to perform the reset (holding 0 on startup and following the prompts), I got this error right before it finished:
    10-FC12-045D click OK to restart.
I click okay, and Vista is gone, everything is gone and I can't get out of BIOS. I tried connecting the external harddrive and booting from that, nothing. Booting from a CD, nothing. Booting from the HDD does nothing. It was working fine before I tried to reset to factory.
Right now on the screen its giving me prompts to insert the Windows installation disc and restart my computer, but I'm already assuming this will do nothing.
Please help, I'm out of ideas. This laptop is meant to be for my mother and I feel bad that I killed it.
    -T
EDIT: I just tried the Vista installation disc, and the computer isn't doing anything. It's still giving me the Boot Manager menu telling me to insert the installation disc and restart.
EDIT 2: I started over, tried to run the Vista Recovery CD, and I'm getting this error in BIOS:
    Phoenix Phlash16 Error
Could not find BCP DMI block in BIOS ROM file image
    PRESS ANY KEY TO CONTINUE

Hi! I can not find your model number, which can be found on the bottom of your lap top. I think I'm understanding you. You wanted a fresh start of Vista, so you tried to restore back to factory. That failed and now every thing is gone?? I have no clue what happened to the restore process. If it was fine before you tried to restore to factory, I would suggest ordering the Toshiba recovery media and start over. I don't know Vista, but I'm betting you had the option to make your own recovery media. I can only guess that the hidden recovery partition was corrupt. That can happen. I'm assuming you are ordering the recovery media from Toshiba. There may be better replies latter. I have been told I give bad advise, so wait for better replies.

  • Problem restoring Toshiba image

    Hi,
    I own a Toshiba laptop model A665-S6094.
I had problems with my old hdd and had to be replaced with a new one, same model and capacity.
I managed to save my old Toshiba recovery partition, tried to put it on USB flash to boot, no success, the boot has failed.
Now I'm trying a second approach:
Managed to install Windows 7 Home Premium and tried to extract the Toshiba image with tosimagex executable, but I get the error FC120020 (see att.)
    Do you have any thoughts?

  • I need motherboard for Satellite M305D-S4830

    Hi Mr/Mrs,
I have a question about my Toshiba Laptop.
Last summer I bought Toshiba M305D-S4830 from BestBuy in USA. (Now I'm in Turkey)
Unfortunately, when I tried to start my laptop, there was nothing. After then, I figure whats happened out.
Now, my mother board is not working properly.
Thats why I need "M305D-S4830" Mother Board Model. Can you help me about this, please?
    Thanks.
    Cuneyt Ay.

As far as I know the notebooks have 1 year international warranty.
But therefore I would contact your local ASP. Have did this?
Maybe the ASP in your country can order this part for you
In worst case you must sent the notebook to an ASP in USA.

  • Audio Driver Probs

My laptop crashed one day and when it powered back up it said it had no audio device and had a red line threw the speaker icon. While trying to get it to work it istalled a generic microsoft driver and now the built in speakers work but not the headphone jacks. I have downloaded the updated conexant drivers frome the drivers page but its failing to install. Any help will be appreciated
    Satellite M305D-S4829 Window vista (64bit)

When you stated crash did you use the Recovery Disk from Toshiba to restore the unit? Make sure you downloaded the 64 bit driver for the video card and not 32 bit. Check your control center to see that the driver is identified and test operation. You can go into the Hardware Manager and check sound device and reset to last driver version. Since you mentioned microphone check and insure that you have initialized same via the control panel. bruce

  • Internal Hard Drive compatibilty issue

The motherboard of my laptop "Toshiba Satellite M305D-S4829 (Part No. PSMDYU-00C005)" is broken.
I removed the hard drive out from my Toshiba Satellite M305D-S4829, which runs Windows Vista.
I have another Toshiba laptop "Toshiba Satellite A215-S7444" which also run Windows Vista and it's working.
Could you please tell me whether the hard drive from my "Toshiba Satellite M305D-S4829" is compatible to "Toshiba Satellite A215-S7444"?
My plan is to remove the hard drive from the laptop in which the motherboard is broken, and to install the hard drive removed from broken laptop to another laptop which is working and also run Windows Vista. Will this way be working for me?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Will this way be working for me?
Very (extremely) unlikely. Windows is configured to run on particular hardware.
Your best bet is to place the drive in a USB enclosure and rescue the important data files using another computer.

  • BIg Problem - loss of sound, unable to reload drivers after reboot. Now what? HELP PLEASE!!!

    HI,
Have been working on getting this resolved for the past 6-7 hours reading and trying different things to no avail.  I have a Toshiba m305 s4829 from Best Buy thats only a few months old.  It apparently has a conextant audio driver ('smart audio 221' according to devices), which isn't showing up (there is a red "x" over the speaker). When I scroll the mouse over that icon it says "No Audio Output Device Is Enabled".  And when I go check out the Device Manager there is a hazard symbol under "SOUND, VIDEO & GAME CONTROLLERS".
Don't know if this is a registry issue, a BIOS issue, a Vista 64 issue, a problem with me downloading the wrong driver, or somehow screwing up the process of unpacking and installing it.  Or if there is even some possible conflict that occured elsewhere.
for more info on any of those ideas:
-registry / bios - I don't want to mess with these unless I absolutely have to.  I do have CC cleaner, superantispyware, and Avira antivirus installed and no viruses or spyware currently.
-wrong driver possibility - the first driver I tried was from the Toshiba "downloads" section for my model- its the second one down just issued on 12-02-08 ( http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=2060017&rpn=PSMDYU&modelFilter=M305D-S4829&selCategory=3&selFamily=1073768663&selModel=2060017|PSMDYU)
So that didn't work and I kept reading around and saw this (see http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=37703&tstart=0); whichpointed me towards trying this driver (http://www.mediafire.com/?mymmj2bkjfc) which didn't work either.
-in terms of how I installed it, I tried different ways.  Read that if you simply uninstalled the driver and rebooted then it should automatically reinstall.  Not for me.  So I tried unistalling the old driver, rebooting, unpacking & installing the new driver & rebooting again.  Nothing.    I also tried installing it directly over the old driver that shows up, nothing.
-potential conflict?? I do have a lot of music programs on here both recording (cubase, audacity) archiving/ playing (Media Monkey, Itunes), and composing (sibellius 5).  It was originally in audacity that I found out I couldn't play my freshly recorded song back.
Getting frustrated, especially on a new system like this!!! Please help, would like to get this solved without having to reformat as I have put a lot of time/ energy into getting all the programs on there and working properly (which they did up until now).  I'm not sure about the recovery disks that came with and whether they would help, my understanding is that the latest drivers **SHOULD** be on toshibas website so recovery disks wouldn't be needed.
***A few other tidbits that may help you help me:
    - in addition to no audio driver showing up in device manager, there is also a hazard sign showing that my imaging device driver for the computers camera has dissapeared;(Chicony USB 2.0 camera).  What was I doing on this computer when it happened?  Well, nothing - restarting it.   An hour previous to that I was able to record a short rehearsal (hourish) on audicity (though audacity crashed and I had to uthe audacity reovery tool to get it back).   I've never really used the camera, but ealier in the day my wife used it to try and take a picture for her facebook profile (which I don't think she was successful at).
Thanks for any ideas / advice!!

    1.  We have had on several occurrences a situation where we (people in the office using the 941 phones) can hear the caller (or person we call outgoing), but they are unable to hear any sound from us.  Rebooting the SPA400 has seemed to solve the problem.  The problem has happened at least 5 times today, each time requiring a reset of the SPA400 before the external side of the party is able to hear us.
---try setting VAD to ON , set preffered coder to g711u on the spa400, don't forget the magic power cycle after saving settings.

  • Changing Microphone settings

I'm not sure if this is right forum or not but, I've got a satellite M305D-S4829 and when I use the microphone for internet calls or on Ventrilo people tell me that my sound is full of static and that my voice comes out in generally bad quality. I've tried searching my laptop for a way to change the microphone settings but have only found microphone settings for speech recognition. I tried searching for an updated driver but Windows says that it's up to date. Is there a way I can customize my microphone or do I have to go out and by an external one?

First.  No one cares what Windows says about drivers being up to date.  They don't write the drivers, nor does Windows Update have the correct drivers.  What matters is do you have the latest TOSHIBA drivers directly from the TOSHIBA Support Site via the Product Support Link at the top of this page.  THAT's what counts.
OF course to find that out one must provide the correct model number.  M305D-S2849 is NOT a valid model.  But you can check that yourself by going to the link and entering the correct model number and comparing the version number of the latest driver to the ones installed.  Also check the Support Bulletins for your model to see if they discuss the issue.  I know on my L305-S5933 updating the WiFi driver corrected some sound issues.  If your model happens to be the M305D-S4829 then there is an audio driver update that addresses inaudible sound levels from the microphone.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.
