Restrict access to a specific method in JSE

Hello all,
I'd like to know if there is a way to restrict access to a specific method in JSE. Basically, my intention is to do this:
Subject.doAs(subject, new ProtectedMethod());
// only users with a specific role can access this method
// (permission specified in my policy file?)
public class ProtectedMethod implements PrivilegedAction<String> {
   public String run() {
}I believe that is not possible to specify a method name in policy file via java.lang.RuntimePermission "accessDeclaredMembers", so is there another way to do this?
Thanks in advance,
Andre

I am not an expert of this media hub, but what I would like to know is that are you referring to the security you have setup with the original folders? So after you have created a backup, whatever type of access you have setup was removed? Can you please elaborate?

  • Security question - restricting access to a specific application

    Hello,
    Looking for suggestions on how I could limit connections to a database to a specific application. Here is the scenario.
    I have an application running from a desktop that has oracle accounts for each user. The user has a read only role by default that I cannot alter. This means that the user can use excel (for example) and bypass the application to look at sensitive data.
    I know I can lock down the desktop, remove excel, etc, etc. However, I'm looking for other options that could be used, be it process, additional Oracle software (the database is 10R2 enterprise edition), etc.
    Problems: The app doesn't identify itself internally. I can see the program, but that is easily faked so thus unreliable.
    Any suggestions at all?

    I'll look at VPD again, but don't think the vendor will support us if we do.
    We are unable to modify the app - third party supported
    exactly - dont want toad, excel, sql*plus, whatever accessing the db from the same host.
    thought above secure app roles as well, but need something concrete that I could validate agianst. If the app could call it and supply that, great but I cannot alter the application. I'm using secured app roles in an in house app and it does work well.
    looking with our ti staff about encapsulating the application communication through a secure vpn tunnel into the data zone. may be an option as all other connections would not make it through the firewall into the data zone. (everything is internal, just to be segmented).

  • SSH login- how do I restrict access to a shared folder?

    I have created Shares in WGM for SMB and AFP access on my OS X 10.4.8 Server. However when I connect via SSH it's not restricting access to the folder based on the User Name I login with- I see the entire volume! How do I restrict access to a specific folder based on a user name setup in WGM? ACL's?

    Hey George,
    It sounds like you are trying to limit ssh/sftp users to a specific area, aka jails. The FTP server lets you 'chroot' users to a certain area making it appear as the root thus preventing them from navigating up the hierarchy, which is what I think you, and me and many others are trying to accomplish.
    The ssh compiled into OS X is missing this very needed feature. There have been a few documented workarounds, but they've either been too insecure or too clunky for me.
    I've dealt with the fact that my users can get to the root of the hard drive, and have just been very careful about my privileges (by using ACLs), thus preventing them from getting inside areas they shouldn't.
    There's a good write up here: http://www.schwie.com/brad/macosxsftpchroot/ and if you include the term 'chroot' in your searches, you should find a bit about it here too.
    And Roger, I think George meant the file sharing protocol used by ssh. man sftp.

  • HT201304 Is it possible to restrict access to specific IOS apps based on the WIFI profile that a user has connected to?

    Is it possible to restrict access to specific IOS apps based on the WIFI profile that a user has connected to?

    you might be able to block it if the app uses Internet access
    and depending on your wireless you might be able to block a specific user
    accessing the backend host that the app uses
    some firewalls offer application filtering but I'm not aware of any that work with ios apps

  • Restrict access of "domain user" to specific computer

    I need to restrict access of "domain user" to a specific computer in the domain/
    I try to Do it by using "Active Directory Administrative Center"
    In Computers\Computer name\Properties\Extensions\Security
    I add the name of user and I marked deny to all and I canceled inheritance
    And yet the user can login to the computer
    I searched Policy that contradicts the security and I not found.
    With the "gpo" I was able to block, but I need necessarily used the Security
    Because of Security can be partial restriction.

    Hi,
    Based on your description, I understand that you want to allow some certain users to access specific domain
    computers.
    Please open ADUC (Activity Directory Users and Computers) and click User container. Then select that specific
    user account, open its Properties and navigate to Account tab. Please click
    “Log On To…” option to open Logon Workstations panel. In Logon Workstations panel, please change
    This user can log on to: All computers to The following computers. Then type the specific computer names. Please check if this can help you to achieve target.
    If anything I misunderstand or any update, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,

  • Error 23002 when restricting access to specific TS

    I am a bit stumped at the moment on my TSGW.  I am attempting to restrict which Terminal Servers the TSGW will redirect to.
    I am doing this via RAP > Network Resource > "RD Gateway-managed group"
    I created a new group and added the FQDN of the TS I want to connect to and I was unable to connect (received error 23002)
    I then modified the group to use the IP address of the TS and received the same error.
    I then set the Network Resource option in RAP to "Allow users to connect to any network resource" and I was able to connect.  I naturally don't want to do this and want to restrict access as we have other Terminal Servers for other groups.
    I must be missing something, but I am not sure what.  Any thoughts from anyone?

    OK... I may have solved my own issue here.  Sometimes typing it out makes me think...
    One thing I didn't try was the NetBIOS name within the RD Gateway-managed group.
    I entered the 3 entries:  IP/FQDN/NetBIOS  and things came alive.  Now, I shouldn't need all three, so I will need to do some more checking, but at least I'm now in the right direction.

  • Is there a way to play an mp4 file at the beginning of a published project only when the project is accessed from a specific site?

    Is there a way to play an mp4 file at the beginning of a published project only when the project is accessed from a specific site?
    A little background info. I use Captivate 7 and currently have over 100 projects that I maintain on a quarterly basis. I publish using the SWF format and upload the swf/htm files to a server where they are then accessed from a few locations (within our online documentation, in our software product, on two different websites). Many of the projects are linked so some will be viewed as a series and others viewed as a standalone video. Each video uses the same template and includes an intro and end slide. Now my organization wants to implement a new intro to all videos (those I publish and those from several groups across the organization). My current intros provide overview material for the specific video so the new intro, which is an animation with audio in mp4 format, would need to be placed at the start of each project. The issue is, the intro adds 9 seconds to every video and in many cases doesn’t add any value (say, if a user accesses the video from within our product or views the videos as a series). I’ve talked it over with my boss and we want to try to add the intro only to videos accessed from site X, not any other location. So now to my question. Is there a way to play an external mp4 file (intro) only when the published project is accessed from a specific site, therefore eliminating the need to update each project? Maybe there's a way to add a parameter or variable to the URL or the html code?
    Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Please let me know if you need additional information.

    AimeeLove,
    I have a solution for you.  You may have to modify the code a little bit based on how long the timeline animation is for your clock.  I based mine on 3 seconds to complete a minute hand sweep around the clock.
    Milliseconds for each point on the clock:
    12 = 0
    1 = 250
    2 = 500
    3 = 750
    4 = 1000
    5 = 1250
    6 = 1500
    7 = 1750
    8 = 2000
    9 = 2250
    10 = 2500
    11 = 2750
    In the mouseover section for 12 o' clock, put this code...
    myVar = setInterval(function(){
         var pos = sym.getPosition();
         if (pos > 0 && pos < 50){
              sym.stop(0);
              clearInterval(myVar);
    },10);
    When you point to the time, the setInterval method loops every 100th of a second and checks the current position of the timeline.  When the timeline reaches the range between 0 and 50 milliseconds (almost impossible to hit 1 specific point), the timeline will stop at 0.  Also, the clearInterval will be fired to stop the loop.
    In the mouseout section, put this...
    sym.play();
    clearInterval(myVar);
    It start the clock again, and it also clears the loop in case you mouseout before you reach the range.
    Make sure that myVar is a global variable so you can clear it from the mouseout section.
    Repeat this for each point on the clock.  To avoid potential conflicts, you may want to use my12, my1, my2, etc. instead of myVar.  I put the milliseconds at the top that you would use as the beginning of the range.  50 milliseconds should be enough to catch it.  So, for 5 o' clock, you would make your range between 1250 and 1300.
    Let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks!
    Fred

  • Restricted access to attachments in SRM 7.0 web applications

    Hi,
    We have a very specific problem regarding the handling of attachments with SRM 7.0 web applications. The system is configured to use ArchiveLink for storing documents on a remote content server, which is working fine.
    Now we have a requirement which should restrict access to certain documents to specific user groups. As an example you could say that a Purchase order has (besides others) two documents attached, e.g.
    - signed contract
    - meeting minutes
    The contract should only be visible to a limited number of people, whereas the Meeting Minutes are accessible to everybody.
    Our problem is that apparently only one Content Category ("BBPFILESYS") is used by the SRM web applications for an upload. When granting authorizations on this content category, we cannot distinguish between contracts and meeting minutes anymore.
    Comparing this with the config in ECC we can freely define document types which can be used in AUTH profiles. Is there any similar solution that can be used in SRM 7.0?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Mark

  • How to Restrict a Resp. to Specific Org. in Multi-Org. Setup within an OU

    Hi,
    I want to restrict a Responsibility to a specific Inventory Organization in an Operating Unit.
    For this purpose, I have defined a Security Profile which restricts the access to that specific Inventory Org. and Operating Unit, and assign the same to the
    Responsibility I want to restrict.
    The Security Profile is assigned at the Responsibility level using the Profile Option: MO: Security Profile.
    Relevant Information:
    Application: Oracle Purchasing
    Operating Unit: A OU
    Inventory Org.: A-1 (Access Allowed only to this Org.)
    Inventory Org.: A-2
    Inventory Org.: A-3
    Profile option: MO: Security Profile
    Now, while working in that Responsibility, for example, when I entered a Purchase Order, it’s not restricting me to the Org. assigned through security profile and also showing the other Inventory Orgs’ (in Shipment Tab of PO).
    Now please guide me how I can implement this control using this MO: Security Profile or through sum other functionality like: Org Access etc...
    Regards,
    Kashif

    Kashi,
    This security (also organization access security that is in Inventory) does not work for this screen.
    Just personlize this based on your business need. Use the WHEN-VALIDATE-RECORD event in the PO_SHIPMENTS block and use the condition :PO_SHIPMENTS.SHIP_TO_ORGANIZATION_CODE=<<ORG>> then raise an error message using the message as the action.
    Thanks

  • Restrict Access To Page Not Working with Different Auth Levels

    I have just started playing with the idea of using different auth levels to allow different users access to certain pages on my site.
    Within my SQL database I have a authlevel table consisting of 3 possible levels (guest, user, admin)
    I am using the Dreamweaver "Log in user" to log in users based on username, pass, and auth level and "Restrict access to page" set to allow user levels 'user' and 'admin'.
    The problem, however, occurs when trying to log in.  No matter what auth level I try I am redirected to my page where users should be redirected if they are not allowed to enter that page.
    I have included below my code from my login page and the page where all authorized users (user and admin) should be directed upon entering the restricted area.

    you don't need all that bloat.  set a session during login of some kind of uniquely identifying id.  i.e.
    $_SESSION['id'] = $row_rs['id'];
    then on the pages you need to protect, check it like this....
    <?php
    session_start();
    if (!(isset($_SESSION['id']) && $_SESSION['id'] != '')) {
    die(header("Location: http://www.notinprotectedareas.com")); }
    ?>
    you can use an include file i.e.
    <?php require_once('login_check.php'); ?>
    where file is name login_check.php to make your auth controls clean on your protected pages.

  • OIM 11g R1 (11.1.1.5.0) Restricting access to Modify resources by field.

    Is there a way to restrict the access to modify specific fields on a resource, based on roles? In design console you have the options of, "Allow Insert", "Allow Update", "Allow Delete" on the form associated with different roles. Is there any way you can restrict this access specifically to fields in the way you can restrict access to user attributes based on authorization policies?

    You are failing to utilize the product then.  You don't have to utilize a soa-composite for this.  They can be set to auto-approve anyway.  But you should not just grant admin access to the user and all their resources so easily.
    Not sure what kind of event handler you can even use.  You could try and explicitly deny access to those roles by adding them to the form permissions and unchecking all the values.

  • Using the Security Manager to restrict access to a single package

    After reading up on the Security Manager, the package.access property and the use of the [accessClassInPackage RuntimePermission|http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/security/permissions.html#RuntimePermission] , it seemed to me that it would possible to set up the following: I have a security-sensitive code base packaged in a jar, and I want to make sure that only one client code base that I specify is permitted to access it. The idea here is to prevent malicious code from executing anything in the sensitive code base; the sensitive code is only accessible to one client that I name in a security policy file. Perhaps rather foolishly, I advised a client to consider this before testing out a sample myself, because much to my surprise, it appears to me that it isn't possible to get the Security Manager to do this at all. Am I missing something? I'm a bit startled by this conclusion -- it seems like such an obvious use for the Security Manager, I'm hard-pressed to be believe that it can't be done, and more inclined to suspect that I'm going about it wrong.
    Here's what I thought I could do: set up the package.access property so that it denies access to any package; then in the policy file, grant the RuntimePermission/accessClassInPackage to the client code base that is permitted to access the sensitive code.
    Of course, you wouldn't want the package.access property to exclude all packages in the global java.security file, because then no code could be accessed at all. It would be necessary to use the trick of resetting the package.access property within the code, as [illustrated in the secure coding guidelines|http://java.sun.com/security/seccodeguide.html#1-1a] .
    But the problem lies in the idea of "use the package.access property to deny access to +any+ package". There doesn't seem to be any way to use wildcards or the like with the property -- it has to specifically name packages (or package prefixes) to which access is forbidden. It wouldn't do to try to name the packages to which I'm trying to prevent access, since we're trying to prevent access from malicious code -- the attacker could just choose package names that aren't on the list. I'd really need to say that access is denied to all packages, except for those in the permitted code base, but the security mechanisms for package access don't seem to allow that.
    Moreover, the trick of changing the value of package.access can't be done within the client code -- otherwise, the attacker client would just set the property to his own purposes. But it can't really be done within the sensitive package either, because the whole idea is to prevent access to that package, and by the time it's busy setting the property, it's already too late, because the package has to have been accessed by a client to get there at all.
    It seems to me that this a symptom of something I've never really understood about the design of the Security Manager -- you can grant permissions to specific code bases, but you can't revoke permissions from specific code bases, let alone all code bases. What I want to do here is grant access permission to one specific code base and revoke it from all others. There doesn't seem to be any way to express that with the mechanisms of the Security Manager.
    The more I look at it, the more it seems that there's just no way to use the Security Manager this way -- set up package access so that a specific code base can only be accessed by one specific client code base. There are surely other ways to get the effect that I'm looking for, but as far as I can tell, none of them involve restricting package access (for example: define a custom permission, grant it only to the permitted client. and check against that permission within the sensitive code base; meaning that the sensitive code has to be accessible to anyone in the first place). This conclusion really surprises me (not to mention my bit of embarrassment with the client); wouldn't this be precisely the sort of thing the Security Manager ought to be good for?

    You're looking at this back to front. The security policy file is there for the client to decide how much access he is going to give this application, not for to application to restrict who can use it. If you want to control what used to be called 'state orientation' you can do that directly by looking down the stack trace inside your code.

  • ToJSONString Showing Up in Restrict Access to Page List

    Working in DW CS3 with ADDT using PHP and MySQL. I'm having a issue which I don't think I had before when I use the Restrict Access to Page server behavior. I'm working with user access levels pulled from the 'levels' field in my database and everything appears to be working as expected. I can select any number of available integers to restrict access to those pages. However, I've noticed that if I go back to edit that list of access levels, a new entry appears below the last integer in the list called "toJSONString". (toJSONString does not show up when I initially add the server behavior, only if I go back in to change it).
    I did a quick search and turned up this info:"The JSONString interface allows a toJSONString() method so that a class can change the behavior of JSONObject.toString(), JSONArray.toString(), and JSONWriter.value(Object). The toJSONString method will be used instead of the default behavior of using the Object's toString() method and quoting the result." Unfortunately, I don't understand any of that.
    I don't know why toJSONString is showing up in the list and if I should be concerned. (Mac OS 10.5.5; DW CS3 (v( Build 3481] and ADDT 1.0.0)

  • Restrict Access to Page Using a password.php Instead of Server Behavior

    I previously used "log in" and "restrict access to page" server behaviors for my client portal when I only had one client. I had my username and password stored in mySQL database. I recently have gained more clients that all needed to be redirected to their own customized landing page when logged in. Because of this, I used a password.php to store the usernames and passwords and to redirect to different pages. Now, I am wondering how I can restrict access to these pages (i.e. someone won't be able to access the pages by typing the url) since I will not be connecting to a database anymore.

    I'm also confused by your statements.
    >Now, I am wondering how I can restrict access to these pages
    >(i.e.  someone won't be able to access the pages by typing the url)
    >since I  will not be connecting to a database anymore.
    It doesn't matter where you store the credentials - database or php file - the techniques for restricting access will be similar. I really don't understand why you moved away from the database when you got more clients. The more data you need to manage, the more reason to store it in a database.
    After logging in, most sites direct users to the same page, yet pull user specific data from the database. If for some reason you can't do this and need to built individual pages for each client, then store the 'landing' page for the client in the php file or database. Restrict access to each page by comparing the logged in name with an allowed login name. Or a more dynamic approach would be to dynamically pass the page name to a database query that validates that it's ok for the logged in user to access.
    Also, these questions are more appropriate for the app dev forum.

    Hi,
    I hope you can help - can't find an answer to this one. Been
