Restrict Apex Admin user not to be Developer

Hi,
I like to to extend the use Apex authen/author scheme to take advantage Apex builtin functions. But I do not want Admin user to access Apex Builder Application. I only want him/her to access our own custom application to create groups and users which are Apex groups and users.
Is there a way not to do this? Thanks!

Thanks for responding my question.
To make my question more clear, I like to build pages that create Apex groups and user accounts. These pages will be based on our custom APIs which call Apex_Util APIs to create Apex group, users and populate other data from screen into our custom tables. In order to create accounts in these page, users need to have Apex admin account.
We only want these users to access our own application only, not Apex Builder.
If the custom's application Admin users know URL and workspace name of Apex Builder, they can get into the application development enviroment. How can we block our Admin users from accessing Apex Builder.

After upgrading the firmware, did you reset and reconfigure the router? Possible reasons for encountering this kind of problem are firmware issue or ISP having intermittent connection. You mentioned that you already check the connection behind the modem and its working fine. If the firmware is already updated, reset and reconfigure were done. Then I suggest for you to call Cisco technical support for this, might be the router is defective. Check if they can still replace your router. Just let them know that troubleshooting steps were already exhausted.

    Hello All,
Our DBA has ran the script apxchpwd.sql as SYS and it went fine. But still we are unable to login into INTERNAL schema with ADMIN user. Any thoughts?
Only thing I need to check is APEX user.
alter session set current_schema = APEX_040000;But that is correct.
Where and how can I check the apex INTERNAL workspace user ADMIN status?

  • Admin user not available in workgroup

When I set up my server, I first set up the main admin user, called 'admin'. This is the user used to login in to the server.
In Workgroup Manager, I created various users for web, mail, files haring etc. However the 'admin' user is not listed as one of the users in Workgroup Manager but is the only user is System preferences/Accounts.
Does it matter if I set a user in Workgroup Manager, called admin, or will break the system?
    Thanks.

I would not prefer to have duplicate users with the same name around in multiple directories.  (I tend to use host-local admin names for the local admin users.)
In WGM launched on the server, and located immediately below the Server Admin icon in the upper left of the WGM display, you'll see a small blue globe and a disclosure triangle and the text "Authenticated as ... to..." and you'll want to select that and explore the local directory.
In other words, when you're running Open Directory as a network accounts (domain) server, there are two user account directories.  The local one that all Mac boxes have, and the networked one.

  • 'kmosx: I lost my admin user'  Not working Unix Guru required!

    Hi,
My Dual G5 decided (by itself) that I was no longer qualified to administer it and has removed the admin privileges from my account demoting me to a standard user.
I tried Michael's 'kmosx: I lost my admin user' guide but am getting a Unix error after trying the 'nicl -raw /var/db/netinfo/local.nidb -create /groups/admin gid 80' command.
The error is 'create: invalid path'
I've successfully repaired the disk using the fsck - fy command and have no errors. I've also have write privileges on the disk.
Basically if there is a Unix guru that could assist it would be most appreciated.
    Cheers

Ok, thanks for the support so far. I've ran the nidump -r /groups / command and it just hung there doing nothing. I had to ctrl+c to stop it. The same thing for the users.
I had a look in the local.nidb directory and I have a range of 'Store.xxxx' files with various dates. Would it be possible to revert back to a previous netinfo db? I'm assuming that these files are previous versions. The most recent is yesterdays Store.672 when I noticed the problem.
Also, in single user mode is it possible to create a new user with admin privileges? I could then use that user to change my login to admin and then remove the newly created user. Or does it have to have a record in the netinfo db?
If I remove the .AppleSetupDone file and re-run the setup program what will I lose? Will this overwrite any personal files (I have 30Gb of photos and databases that although backed up would I can still access through the standard user)?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Lync Admin Users not Showing up in Lync client

I have added additional users to Lync. They show up in the Admin website but not in my lync client. Not sure how to add them?

How long has it been?  This may just take some time, if you want to speed it up, run update-csaddressbook from the PowerShell, wait a few minutes, and restart a client.  Within an hour they should get a fresh copy.
Check out Terence Luk's post for a better explanation and the registry key (GalDownloadInitialDelay) you'd need to speed up the client's download of the GAL after startup:

  • Admin users not authorized to install software updates?

A couple of colleagues in my office are having a weird problem. They all have administrative access to their computers, but when Software Update asks them for an administrative password to install the updates, it says they don't have administrative access.
    Any ideas?

    TonyInSF wrote:
They're company computers, but I configured them myself and checked "Allow user to administer this computer".
This is not happening with all computers, just some of them. Most users (of company computers) update their software quite regularly without any problems.
    Interesting.
Try creating a new admin account on one of the machines from scratch and see if it allows updating.
If so, it might simply be a corrupted preference file.

  • Admin user security in obiee 11g

    Hi,
Can we restrict particular admin user(newly created) in seeing the data in all the reports, where he can see only the coulmn names. when ever he generates the report.
    ex:
    A B C
    1 2 3
    4 5 6
is the data genereated in the report, the admin user should not see 123456 data, have to see the column names A B C.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    You can try this:
create one dummy dimension table (an opaque view like select '1' from dual) and make a cross join (complex join with condition 1=1) in the physical layer and you can enforce the BI Server to use this table (whenever this fact comes in picture) so that it would never return no results (atleast 1 NULL row). In this way you can avoid No Results.
Now if you want to remove this NULL row for other users, you can restrict that at RPD level itself by applying global filters using USER session variable.
    Hope this helps

  • SQL developer hangs on Win XP if not admin user

Hi, I just installed Oracle 11g on Win XP sp2, as admin user.
Things appear working, except for SQL Developer which runs fine only when logging in to XP as administrator.
If I log in as a normal user, then SQL Developer hangs forever just after being started up, eating 50% of CPU. Task manager is required to stop it.
A few more details: it hangs just after asking about file name associations, showing on the left panel the connection I did while being admin.
SQL Plus runs just fine in any case.
If I run the alternative version (sqldeveloper.exe), the involved window reports:
    WARNING: Unknown directive: SetSkipJ2SDKCheck

then the ide windows hangs as reported above.
    Any help is appreciated.

    - sqldev is slower - and yes my machine is fast
    - sqldev needs a mouse; the keyboard shortcuts are severely lacking
    - output window is separated from SQL window
    - It doesn't show me anything I couldn't get to before by typing commands & using TextPad
As far as sqlplusw.exe vs sqlplus.exe, I won't get into that discussion- all I'll say is that the "workarounds" on the Internet have not addressed my concerns. (control-c exits by accident, having to edit every shortcut on every computer/server I touch which either needs admin elevation or shortcut copy/paste or both, etc)
Either way- thanks again to sperkmandl for the solution (running sqldev as non-administrative user)! I never run on my machine as local admin; I only elevate when needed.

  • Can a user be a developer and an admin user in the same workspace?

    Hi
We have just upgraded one of our environments from APEX 3.2 to Apex 4.1.
In our existing apex applications version 3.2 we have the senior developer users set up with both user is an administrator and user is a developer set to yes.
When I try to set up the same in Version 4.1 I only seem to be able to set the user up with either developer or admin and not both as the user is a developer radio button is greyed out when user is and adminstator is selected.
Is it not possible in 4.1 to be an administrator and a developer. Does this mean that one person may have to have 2 logins if they are performing an adminstrator and developer role in Apex 4.1?
    Please advise
    Regards

    Hi,
When you set user as admin, it is same as in Apex 3.2 admin+developer

It's going to be impossible for anyone in this forum to help with your issue if you don't provide any more detail about your environment and Apex installation. However, from your post it looks like the Apex database objects are missing or invalid.
Did you follow the Apex installation guide step by step? For example, did you run apexins.sql?
It's important to follow the documentation. The script you are running to change the admin user password should not be run until after the Apex installation is complete.

  • Send insert request as database user, not APEX public account

I have a simple form where I am trying to insert data into a table. I am using database account authentication to log into app. We are using this table to submit jobs and only certain users can submit certain jobs. This table has a trigger that looks up privledges (in another table) to see if a user is authorized to enter particular data (job).
When I create (insert the data from the form), I get an error (APEX_PUBLIC_USER User is not authorized to submit this request). Since APEX Pub user is not in our authentication table, it errors, which is fine. What I want to happen though, is the request (insert) into the table be sent as the database account user logged in, not APEX pub user account. How do I do this?
    Thanks
    Jason

    Jason,
No problem, we were all new to Apex at some point (outside of the development team that is!).
Take a look at my previous reply, I'm pretty sure that is what is happening, you either have some code in your app using 'USER' or perhaps the trigger itself references it, in which case rather than -
    USERit should use -
nvl(v('APP_USER'), USER)Which basically means "if there is an Apex username then use that, otherwise use the Oracle database user".
Without seeing your code it's difficult to say whether this is what's happening or not however, but it's worth looking at.

  • OBIEE 11g:Restrict Admin user (Weblogic) to upload certain set of files

    Hello All,
We are running OBIEE 11.1.1.7.1 on local machine. We have a requirement which should limit Weblogic (Admin user) to upload .exe, .bat, .dll file etc or any such unwanted file in catalog or should only be able to upload required files. I am struggling to achieve this.
Could any one help us in this?
We do not want to remove upload permission from Weblogic user.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Andy

its not possible to restrict only certain type of files. the only option you have is to take out upload privileges for weblogic user and then follow the manual process of copying the catalog items like opening the catalog manager(offline and online) and copy the required items as required,So in that you way you can restrict the copy of other extensions apart from .catalog
by the way may i know who is that person who want to upload the other extension files into catalog folder with Admin user? Because only couple of them will have access to weblogic user to be able to make or do any changes.

  • Custom Excel macros can't be accessed by new admin user, only original developer

Excel macros created several years ago using NI Measure are not accessible to users other than the original developer.  We are using Win 2000 OS, NI Measure version 1.2 upgraded from version 1.0, and Microsoft Office Excel 2003 SP1.  Even if the user has the same admin rights as the original developer of the macro, they cannot access it.  The macro is accessible and works fine when the original developer logs into the win 2000 pc with his login name and password.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Does anyone know how we can resolve this issue?
    Thanks,
    Alex H.

    Alex,
The first thing to try would be to install the patch for Measure (Measure Patch 1.2c) if you haven't already.  Do you have this same issue when trying to access Macros not created by Measure?  Unfortunately, the best I could find on Macro and Measure issues were the following KBs.
    General Measure Support KB
    Macro and Measure Support KB
    Hope this helps!
