Restrict posting period only a limited set of users using Auth Group

Hi all,
Can someone help me in restricting posting period to only a limited number of users?
Currently OB52 settings look like below:
From Per.1  Year  To Period           From per.2   Year    To Period
    7                 2009         8                          8              2008            8
My requirement is:
I want to only few users to post in the 7th period and all others to post in the 8th period.
I know this can be done via authorization group: Can someone please help me with the steps invloved in solving the same?
Thanks in advance

Hi Alex,
Thanks for your response!
I have added F_BKPF_BUP object manually in the test role and assigned 0002 auth group in it.
I have created auth group 0002 and assigned table T001B in SE54.
Auth group 0002 is then assigned in the OB52 at the last column. This should restrict the posting for period 1 which i need to restrict for some users.
Now as per the logic, if we dont assign any auth group, users should not be able to post for that period. But in my case user is able to post successfully via F-02.
Please help me as we need to implement this before month end.
Many thanks for your valuable help!
Thanks

    Hi Guru,
If only a limited set of users is to be able to post in a particular
    posting period, proceed as follows:
Add the posting period authorization (authorization object
F_BKPF_BUP) to the authorizations of the selected users. Assign an
    authorization group (e.g. '0001').
Enter the account type '+' for the posting period variant to which
the restriction is to apply. Enter the period(s) whose use is to be restricted in the first period, those which are available to all
users in the second period, and the authorization group (e.g.
    '0001') in the last column.
For this you need to consult with Basis people authorization matrix.

  • Restrict an iview for a particular set of users

    Hi,
I would like to restrict an iview for a particular set of users.
Please let me know how to do that

    Hello,
Option 1: create a separate role and assign to those set of users.
Option2: if its custom developed iview(PAR/Webdynpro java), by using (UME service AP)java code  we can find those users and we can restrict content of iview(create a uinique group and  while executing iview , if the user belongs to this group show a message u don't have authorization to execute this iview).
To me option is good  and easy.

  • Restrict the posting period opening and closing for some users

    Dear SAP gurus,
I want to restrict some users to open the posting period and for some users close posting periods. I knew that these can be done through authorization group. Pls explain how to create authorization groups and how to use those?  Anybody can help me out?
    Regards,
    Venkata Reddy

    Dear Venkatareddy,
There are two sets of period in OB52. The first set of "From" and "To" is for the authorised group and second set is for the non authorised group. In the "Authorisation Group" (last column) give some 4 charecters name. Say "FICO".
Now ask the basis to attach the object "FICO" for the users who are authorised say user1, user 2 and user3.
Now in the first set of period you can maintain say 1 2008 to 16 2008 and in the second set 1 2008 to 1 2008.
So except user1,2 and 3, all the others can post only in 1 2008. Whereas users 1,2 and3 can post in all the periods of 2008.
    Assign points if useful

    Depending on the requirement
May be you can open it for a specific Cons Group(assuming User has authorization for that group)  which translates back to opening it for specific user only
If user needs to work on more than 1 cons groups & has authorization then a step by step approach  will help

  • HT4759 what are the limitations for PC users using iCloud?

I am considering iCloud for storing music, photos etc.  Are there any significant limitations for PC users?  Our family employs a mix of Apple and PC devices.

Of course, iCloud does a better job on Apple devices like iPhone, iPad and Mac, because it seamlessly works with the pre-installed apps like Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes etc., but you could also use some of the features on a PC. This guide shows you, how you could set up iCloud on a PC: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/pc.html
On a PC you sync iCloud Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and Tasks via Outlook, snyc Bookmarks and Photos.
Some other Services like iWork apps (Numbers, Pages and Keynote) or Find My iPhone are missing, but accessible through the website www.icloud.com (new Chrome or Firefox needed)
By the way, iTunes is still needed for managing your music library.

  • How can I distribute my app only to few set of users through app store?

    Hi,
I am developing a app which I want to hand over to a small business. They will be the only one who will be using it. If I submit my app to app store everyone can download which I don't want to do.
Is there a way I can give this app to small business owner without having to submit it to app store? I think if I use the enterprise account and sign the app with enterprise provisioning profile then the owner wont be able to use the app once the profile expries.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Restrict Access in OB52 by Posting Period Variant

    Hello,
In our company there are many posting period variants. We want to restrict the access for opening and closing posting periods in OB52 by Posting period variant. i.e. User can open/close for a specific posting period variant and not all.
On searching on this forum, i found some solutions saying that one can create Screen variants according to Posting period Variant but i am not very clear on it.
It would be very helpful, if someone can provide detailed solution for this scenario; or share one's experience on this.
    Thanks and regards,
    Ankur

Inside OB52, the last column on the right is titled AuGr. Expanded, that stands for Authorization Group. Hit <F1> after keeping the cursor in that field and read what SAP has to say about that field.
That is the answer to what you need - a posting period can be made available to only a limited set of users using the Authorization Group. You'll need to enlist the help of your resident BASIS team members for putting this into use.
Remember to assign points if found useful.

  • Open and Closing of Posting Periods in FI

Is it possible to open/close periods in FI per account? I'm using SAP ECC 6.0
Moderator: Please, avoid asking basic questions

    Hi,
Yes, you can use authorization group: "A posting period can be made available to only a limited set of users using the authorization group"
You assign the authorization group in GL master.
Assign authorization object F_BKPF_BUP to user ids.
Open / close FI periods with AuGr in t-code: S_ALR_87003642

  • RESTRICTION -POSTING FOR PREVIOUS F.Y.

    Hi
We wish to restrict during any postings under fiscal year 2006 for all users across the globe and willing to allow only few users for posting any journal entries as per recommendations of statutory auditors.
At present, we have not given any access to the users for changing any posting period during data entry. The system redetermines the posting period based on posting date.
Please guide us, whether the above facility is available under SAP. If available, can we do this restriction through Basis?
    Regards
    Anilkumar

    Hi,
If you want to use this authorization, proceed as follows:
o  Specify an authorization group for the allowed posting periods which
       are to be protected.
o  Define the authorization which you want to assign to selected
employees by listing the authorization groups allowed.
o  Assign this authorization using the corresponding profile.
If the  profiles have the value *, posting is permitted in every
    period.
If you don't need it in your company, you can delete this; but clarify
the scope of the mentioned objects before with the author of the
    object.
If only a limited set of users is to be able to post in a particular
    posting period, proceed as follows:
o   Add the posting period authorization (authorization object
F_BKPF_BUP) to the authorizations of the selected users. Assign an
         authorization group
o   Enter the account type '+' for the posting period variant to which
the restriction is to apply. Enter the period(s) whose use is to be
restricted in the first period, those which are available to all
users in the second period, and the authorization group assigned
         above in the last column.
Please assign points if it useful.

  • Posting periods can open only for a user?

    Hi All,
I have 30 users but i want open posting periods only 3 users so is it possible to do. Please help me on this.
    Thanks in advance,
    S.Mobin.

    Hi!
You mean, tht autho for post dated entries ?
    What is your B1 Veriosn.
In SAP B1 2007B you have a option like setting the Period as Closing Period and give Authorization to Closing Period under General Authorization window. (Type Closing on Find field on Autho window)
If u r using SAP B1 2005B , set Autho for users on making Set as Current Period

  • Open previous Posting Periods

    Hi Experts,
When trying to post a good receipts I get the current error:
Posting periods only possible in 12/2011 and 11/2011. I want to post in 12/2209
How do I set the system to post in 12/2009?

    Hi
Allowing Posting to the Previous Period
    Prerequisites
Posting to the previous period (backposting) is allowed only if the corresponding indicator is set
in the control record. This indicator is set automatically during initialization and after each change
of period. However, it can sometimes be necessary to set it manually.
    For One Company Code
    1. In the Material Master [Ext.] menu, choose Other   Allow posting to previous period.
    The initial screen appears.
    2. Enter the company code and choose Enter.
    3. Set the Allow posting to previous per. indicator.
    4. Save your data.
But in your case the current year is 2011 but you wanna to post to 2009.You can allow by allow posting to previous period ( i.e. one period only).
The initialization of the posting period to a previous or to any posting period may lead to the loss of the information of the inventory balances of the previous periods. The book value of the current posting period is taken as the basis also for values of the previous period in this case.
You need to take help of SAP  while doing initialization by MMPI and also prog. RMMMINIT but system gives error Follow the instructions in Note 487381 before initialization.

  • Reg: Query Problem for New Posting Period

    Hi Xperts,
While I try to Map the A/P Invoices with their respective Outgoing Payment,
I used the following Query and it's Query Printlayout
    SELECT T0.DocNum [Payment#], T0.DocDate [Payment Date],
    T0.CardCode, T0.CardName, T1.InvoiceId, T2.DocNum [AP Inv#],
    T2.NumatCard [Bill No.], T2.DocDate [Bill Date], T1.selfInv,
    T1.SumApplied, T1.WtAppld, T0.NoDocsum
    FROM  [dbo].[OVPM] T0  INNER  JOIN
    [dbo].[VPM2] T1  ON  T1.[DocNum] = T0.DocNum
    INNER  JOIN [dbo].[OPCH] T2  ON  T2.[DocEntry] = T1.DocEntry
    WHERE T0.Cardname='[%0]' and T0.DocDate='[%1]' and
    T0.DocNum='[%2]'
I got the above query from our Expert Mr.Sambath only.
Now what is the problem is the query is retrieving the payment details of old Posting Period only and not the current posting period.
In detail, I used 'Primary' Series for FY08-09, Period indicator 'Default'
Now I'm using 'Primary1' Series for FY09-10, Period indicator '0910'
    Thanx in adv.
    Regards,
    Bala

    Hi Bala,
Looking at your query, it is not query issue ,it is your data issue.
Please check if you have data in  VPM2  table  which is bank transfer payment method
    Thank you

  • Calquarter from posting period in reporting level

    Hi Guys,
We don't have the calquater in cube level. But in reporting
we need to calculate the calquarter from posting period.
My requirement is, when user enters the posting period 5 it
should show the quarter 1 and quarter 2 values. If user
enters posting period 7 it shoold show the qua1,qua2 and
    qua3 values.
Can any one suggest me how we can get this?
Helpful answers will be rewarded with full points.
    Prasad

    Hello,
Create 4 variables (range) on Posting period for eg. qtr1 , qtr2, qtr3, qtr4 of type Customer Exit. Now Create 4 Restricted Keyfigures for the Key figure u want to display each restricted with posting period by qtr1 , qtr2, qtr3, qtr4.
Now write the code to fill in these variables depending on the User entry value. so for eg, if user enters 5, then fill
qtr1 with low value 001 and high value 003 of the same year as input value.
qtr2 with low value 004 and high value 005 (input value) of the same year.
as you dont want to show qtr 4 and qtr 5, fill them with some period for which you are sure there would be no values in the cube (may be some period in past or dummy year like 9999). You can then eliminate these columns by suppress zero value columns.
Similarly write the logic for all 12 periods to fill corresponding Qtr1 to Qtr 4. So in report Restricted KF will show KF value resricted to corresponding Qtr

    Dear,
You simply have to define authorisation groups in OB52 and assign this group to F_bkpf_bup in SU01 against user proflie as desired. Take basis help.
