Restricting a Characteristic in a Querry!!!

Hi ,
I have querry in which for a characterstic combination,the Material is having 0Dummy* values.
Material is also a characteristic and is used in select option in the querry.
So,I am not able to restrict the 0Dummy* values and also not able to filter those values out.
Can anyone please help me out in restricting the Material characteristic for 0Dummy* values .
Thanks,
Amit.

Hi Amit,
Restricting a charecteristic values in Query, if you do this by default the Query is executed with this restrited value.
in 3.X you can do at rows and free characteristics.
in BI 7.0 default vales.
in selection screen with select options you have different options like Exclue, include range..  or even after you can keep this filter in query output.

    Hi,
    This error is invoked sometimes when you save large templates in WAD.
    Use sap note- 857360. This will definitely help.
    You just have upgrade the font end patch.
    Hope this helps.

  • Restricting a characteristic

    Hi Guys can you please give me advise on how to restrict a characteristic to a certain value in a query i.e. i want the cells with "CE/#" only to show in the report. The characteristic is not a key figure.
    thanks

    Hi Gopan,
    Right click the char in your query definition and choose retsrict and here you can set the restriction as per the value you require.

  • Restricting a characteristic & query time out problem

    Hi. We have the follwoing problem:
    Before our BI upgrade, we have had a number of users querying different info areas, that are now having difficulty restricting on a characteristic in a query.  This was performed with no problems before the upgrade.
    Many times, the list of records for the particular characteristic is quite small.  Either it takes 20-30 minutes for the list to appear, or the query times out (after 6000 seconds).
    Any ideas?

    Any time you have an existing query that has been running quickly in production, and it suddenly starts to run much longer, you should be suspicious of some change to DB statisitics and or indexes.
    So the first thing to do is work with your DBA to make sure the DB statistics are current for the tables involved in the query, then get an Explain Plan for the query which will show you how the DB is trying to execute the query, what indexes it uses, etc.  Perhaps stats are not being refreshed after the upgrade, or something happened to an index

  • Bex Query Multiprovider: restrict same characteristic for different Infoproviders

    HI SAP Guru's
    I have scenario here where the multiprovider is made up of 3 DSO .....i have a infoobject 0CRM_OBJ_ID(transaction Number) in two DSO and i want to display both values in separate rows as AMC Number and Service order Number in the query
    1.AMC Number(restricted to AMC infoprovider)
    2.Service Order Number(restricted to Service infoprovider)
    if it was a key figure i could have created a restriction in the kefigure structure by making a selection. but it characteristic and if  i create a structure in rows its throwing error infoobject 0NFOPROV is used in both structures of the query
    Please Suggest how to do it thanks

    You can go ahead with the workaround Arun has suggested.
    Create a new CKF--Under that formula variable--Create a new formula variable--Processing by replacement path--Reference char--0crm_obj_id.
    Hit the replacement path--Replace variable with--infoobject--replace with key--Hit the currency/unit tab--Choose number under dimensions.
    Now drag this ckf in columns--restrict with infoprovider.
    Hope this helps.

  • Restriction for  Characteristic in CT04

    Dear Experts,
    i want to restrict the characteristics which only certain user can access those characteristic. i already follow the http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/a0d22ea5-7643-2c10-97a1-fd9e6e5683ef?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true documentation. i already create role which have authorization object
    C_CABN_GRP ,C_KLAH_BKL, C_TCLS_BER , C_TCLS_MNT . when i login with user which have those authorization, i still can change others characteristics. can you help me, in order i only can access one characteristic.
    Regards,
    dinie.

    Hi Smily,
    It means that these values are excluded from the selection. So all values except these ones will be retunred in the report. Generally we try to avoid exclusion as perf is bad and we try to exclude the values simply by including all others...need to balance with total # of values and # of values to be excluded.
    Hope this helps...

  • Where-used list for queries restricted by characteristic value

    Hi SDN Community
    I came across this useful documentation on how to track down a query which is restricted to a certain hierarchy
    Queries that use a hierarchy
    Is it possible to track down queries from a given characteristic value.
    eg. ID = 355 from InfoObject ZIDMEASP, represents Production Measure ID.
    Thank you.
    Simon

    Hi  SDN community,
    So far i have had this response from SAP OSS Message but require this as a consulting issue.
    Is it such that anyone is aware of the way to tract down queries from restricted value,
    Thank you.

    Dear Simon,
    You can track down the query from a characteristic as per the following
    steps, eg.
    - Tr_cd: RSD1
    - eg. input ZIDMEASP to Infoobject
    - click on "Where-used list using AWB"
    - find out which InfoCube, InfoSet, ODS Object etc. are using
    infoobject ZIDMEASP
    - open bex analyzer, in the "Select query" screen, search with the
    InfoCube/InfoSet/ODS Object one by one under "InfoAreas", then you
    can see which query is using them

  • How to restrict a characteristic in hierarchy

    Hello,
    I have created a heirarchy of 0PROJECT characteristic (that has 0GL_ACCOUNT as external characteristic), and it is not gettin filtered in my report.
    The hierarchy is defined like this:
    NODE1 (text) --> 0GL_ACCOUNT (account number) --> 0PROJECT (project number)
    The query result shows every account number associated to each project number. I need to show only the account number defined in the hierarchy.
    Is it possible?
    Thank you very much for your help!

    Hi Federico,
    0GL_ACCOUNT is not compounding with 0PROJECT.
    In 0PROJECT hierarchy definition, I included 0GL_ACCOUNT as an external characteristic, so it is possible to add values of Account in 0PROJECT hierarchy definition.
    What I need to do is a hierarchy that shows the information like this:
    Nodo1
    |_ Project_X
         |_ Account 1
    Nodo2
    |_ Project_X
         |_ Account 2
         |_ Account 3
    Is it possible to filter account values in 0PROJECT hierarchy definition?
    Thank you!
    Matias

  • Restrict Time characteristic filter at selection screen

    Hi,
    I am trying to find out a solution for the below typical requirment which i have in my project.
    The scenario is as follow:
    I have a BEx report with many characteristics in the selection screen. There are three time characteristics in the selection screen based on which the report can be executed. The three time chars are CALDAY, CALMONTH and CALWEEK. Now the requirement is that we need to provide a functionality to the user to select only one of the three time char i.e. they can either input date filter or month filter or week filter.
    If user tries to input filter on more than one time char then he shouldnt be able to execute the report and it should show some kind of message. Also if the user dosent select any one of them it should not run
    the report.
    Please provide any work around for the same.
    Thanks,
    Varun

    Hi Varun,
    Yes this can be acheived by coing the same in the CMOD.  Please follow the steps as given below -
    Please excuse me if I have done any typo errors -
    Goto to CMOD and write a customer exit for i_step = 3 as given below -
    IF i_step = 3.
    data: count type n.
    count = 0.
    LOOP at i_t_var_range INTO l_s_var where vnam = 'date_var'
                              OR vnam = 'month_var'
                              OR vnam = 'week_var'.
       count = count + 1.
    ENDLOOP.
    IF count > 2.                 "this is for multiple time range selection
    CALL FUNCTION 'RRMS_MESSAGE_HANDLING'
    EXPORTING
      I_CLASS = 'RSBBS'
      I_TYPE = 'E'
      I_NUMBER = '000'
      I_MSGV1 = 'Please enter either of Date/Month/Week'.
    raise again.
    ELSEIF count = 0.            "this is for no time range selection
    CALL FUNCTION 'RRMS_MESSAGE_HANDLING'
    EXPORTING
      I_CLASS = 'RSBBS'
      I_TYPE = 'E'
      I_NUMBER = '000'
      I_MSGV1 = 'Please enter at least Date/Month/Week'.
    raise again.
    ENDIF.
    ENDIF.
    Hope this helps.

  • Addiontal Characteristic to be included in Querry Designer

    Dear BI Experts,
        I have Info-Cube which has exactly 10 characterisc, i create querry for this info-cube already.
        Later then, I change the cube and add mor 1 characteristic, IS it possible for me to include the new characteristic in the querry, or do I have to create new querry and delete old querry.
        Please advice solutions.
    Thanks and Regards,
    KimC.

    Hi,
    There is absolutely no need to create a new query.
    When you do changes in the backend (underlying info providers) the changes get automatically reflected on the front end (query designer).
    Just close your query designer and open it again, you will find the new characteristic that you added in the query designer under the same dimension as present in the cube.
    Hope this helps.
    thanks,
    rahul

  • Ordering Characteristic Values in the order that you restrict them

    Hi SAP Network,
    I have created a BEx query and used up the 2 structures in the Rows area.
    I have then placed a characteristic in the columns area and restricted the characteristic .
    This characteristic in essence acts like a third structure.
    The ordering of the characteristic values when the query is executed is by alphabetical order.
    Are you aware if it is possible to have the same order displayed, as to which you drag the characteristic values onto the characteristic, ie. in the order that you choose.
    Thank you in advance.
    Simon

    Hi there,
    No it is not possible to make the characteristics sort by the order in which you restricted them.
    One weay you could achieve this is by having a sequence navigational attribute (example values: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 etc)  and in the sorting of your characteristic use sort by attribute.
    Best Regards
    Mark

  • Restrict values of characteristic in input-ready new rows query

    Hello all
    We are creating an input-ready new rows query. So we added characteristic as row.
    We need the values in F4 (while choosing value in this row) are to be restricted by hierarchy (or just restricted by some algorithm - list of values). But if we choose "hierarchy" for that characteristic, it will also appear in rows, so not one posted value will appear, but full hierarchy for this value. How to make F4 for choosing restricted values of any characteristic.
    Reason: we have different account plans for different years and don't want users to choose "old" positions.
    Cheers, Yuri

    Hello, Yuri!!!
    Try to use next variants:
    1) Authorization
    restrict you characteristic in RSECADMIN
    2) COMPAUND
    You can add compaund characteristic to you main characteristic, and if you restrict this compaund  characteristic in filter, then in query you'll see only appropriate values
    3) FILTER
    You can restrict not only fixed values, but you can use prequery for you characteristic. For example make DSO in which will be calmonth and account in key. And make query to take accounts for calmonth. After that in you main query restrict you account through variables with replace path type (set query for accunts for month).
    4) Relation in RSPLAN
    Create DSO(as in case 3) and try to use relation for you realtime cube in RSPLAN.
    Anton.

  • Restriction with multiple variables for a characteristic present in Row

    Hi all,
    I am facing a problem when I am restricting a characteristic in the 'defaut value' section of the filter tab.
    Details of the problem is given below:
    Characteristic is restricted by 3 variables. When I execute the query for the first time there are no problems. I can enter value for all the three varaibles.
    But when I want to change the variable value, the variable screen does not list the variables and the system displays the following message.
    'variables could not be processed'.
    Diagnosis
    In the query definition, the default values of characteristic are stored as variables. The system tires to fill these variables again from the last restrictions so that it can use them as default values. In this case, however, the restriction is so complex, that the variable values cannot be reconstructed from it.
    System Response
    Procedure
    Change the restrictions in the query result if necessary.
    Kindly help to resolve this issue.
    Thanks in advance.
    Meera

    Hi All,
    Even I faced the same issue, and the issue is resolved with above solution.
    Now the second time I'm able to see the variable in Analyser, but now the output is not getting refreshed as per the variable entry for the second time.
    Thanks,
    Gaurav

  • Restrict characteristic using another characteristic

    Hi all,
    Can we restrict a characteristic with another characteristic?
    I want to count the total number of products where the create date of the product is equal to the transaction date ( date of sale).
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    You better handle this thing while uploading itself. I Mean you better take a Caharacterstic into the cube, which value is equal to <i>yes</i> if the Date of sale and MAterial creation date are same.
    With out above thing we can get the report for only one date. Here user has to enter the date for Date of sale. And also we keep a restriction on this Creation date( here it is navigtional attribute) of material with customer exit. Here the CE varible gets the value which is eq to user entered date.
