Restrict values of characteristic in input-ready new rows query

Hello all
We are creating an input-ready new rows query. So we added characteristic as row.
We need the values in F4 (while choosing value in this row) are to be restricted by hierarchy (or just restricted by some algorithm - list of values). But if we choose "hierarchy" for that characteristic, it will also appear in rows, so not one posted value will appear, but full hierarchy for this value. How to make F4 for choosing restricted values of any characteristic.
Reason: we have different account plans for different years and don't want users to choose "old" positions.
Cheers, Yuri

Hello, Yuri!!!
Try to use next variants:
1) Authorization
restrict you characteristic in RSECADMIN
2) COMPAUND
You can add compaund characteristic to you main characteristic, and if you restrict this compaund  characteristic in filter, then in query you'll see only appropriate values
3) FILTER
You can restrict not only fixed values, but you can use prequery for you characteristic. For example make DSO in which will be calmonth and account in key. And make query to take accounts for calmonth. After that in you main query restrict you account through variables with replace path type (set query for accunts for month).
4) Relation in RSPLAN
Create DSO(as in case 3) and try to use relation for you realtime cube in RSPLAN.

  • Invalid characteristic combniation in WAD new row not re-read

We have a really annoying problem entering new rows in an IP WAD.
If an incorrect Characteristic Value (Gl account for example) is entered in a new row, then the system provides a nice message, and the cell with the characteristic is highlighted - perfect.  The user can change the value and then check again.
However if the user types in a Characteristic Value which exists, but is not in the filter for the query, then the system again provides an error message, but instead of highlighting the Characteristic Value the system highlights the Key Figure cell.
If the user changes the Characteristic Value to a valid value and checks the data again, the new valueis not checked.  The user has to change the key figure amount to trigger the system to check the updated Characteristic Value.
This behaviour is the same for checking characteristic combinations.
Executing the same query in a BEx Analyser workbook does not have this problem, but we prefer a web input.
Has anyone noticed this problem, and found a solution or workaround?
    Michael

    Hello Michael,
I agree with you. The check should highlight the incorrect cell, not the key figure. Please open a customer message with a reproducible example so SAP support can analyze the issue.

  • Master data to be input ready usiing a query

    Dear All,
I have a requirement that user needs to input master data values (like division, fiscalyear) as we input key figures in input ready query.
Actually to realize this , I have created division and fiscal year as key figures and made them input ready query. We are doing this , because we need to  log the user inputs and after that to run the report based on the selections. so for logging purposes i am using input ready query to save the data in a infocube and later read them to run a process chain .
Will it has any  risk involved ...  My user do not want to input data using  flat file.
please suggest me if there is any other way to work on this.

  • SAP BI - OLAP variable in DTP unable to read from input ready variable in query

    Hello,
    Here's the problem:
We have a process chain which is launched in a WAD.
We would like to filter the DTPs in the PC with the values entered in the variable screen of the WAD
I created a variable of type customer exit X which reads the input ready variable Y in CMOD.
Customer exit variable X was placed in the filter of the DTP.
The input ready variable Y in the query contained in the WAD.
I am getting an error that customer exit variable X is getting not value.
Is it possible to read an input ready variable in a customer exit variable placed in a DTP?
Or am I missing a step here?
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Anjalee,
Maybe it would be good to share a bit more information on your scenario and the chosen solution design. I am currently missing the point of triggering a Process Chain using Web Application Designer.
Anyway, I recommend to be careful with using OLAP variables in DTP filters. For sure not all functionality is present, e.g. because the variable pop-up is absent. Your constellation of an input ready variable and a customer-exit variable will only work in the context of a BEx Query and probably not if used in a DTP filter.

  • Restrict values on web template input variable

    Hi WAD and Bex Experts,
I'm trying to reduce the numbers of valid values when I press the match code in the input variable in a web template.

  • No new rows or columns because the axis is not input-ready

    Hi Gurus,
I have a problem when I am modelling the Order and Revenue Planning.
In my model I have Base Unit and Currency as Unit characterstics.
When I take Currency as INR and Base Unit Multiple Values then I can create a new row in my planning layout.
If I take currecy also multiple values, system is throwing following message "No new rows or columns because the axis is not input-ready" and not allowing me to create new rows(rather it is not displaying the new rows). But Query is Input Ready.
Could any one suggest solution for this.....
    Waiting for your reply......
    Thanks and Regards,
    Arun.

    Hi Arun,
I know exactly what you are trying to do.  Don' t waste your time any further on it.   The story would have been different if the entire layout was on a single currency(header or filtered).
    For your problem....
First of all you cannot use 0AMOUNT.  As it will not allow you to seperate 0Currency from 0Amount as it is already defined in the 0Amount Infoobject. Even if you try to add 0Currency AGAIN as a "separate" characteristic in the row of Query.  So you will have to now provide 2 currency values to 0Currency(in the row) as well as 0Currency in the 0Amount (which you cannot select in Query Designer).  Because the system will still be looking for 0Currency value embedded to 0Amount.  The only way you can do is by using a Custom Key Figure with No Dim.  I mean, ZAmount with no Unit/Currency in the infoobject definition.
Let Currency be an attribute of Order.  Display this currency attribute in the row of the layout, just so the users know which currency they are going to enter values on.  It(currency) is only for informational purpose and not to think that the values entered initially by the users are stored along with the same currency.  And then after the user enters values on this ZAMOUNT, upon save use Fox behind the scene to copy this over to real "0Amount".  Fox should read the Order currency(attribute) and store the currency into along with the 0Amount(and 0currency).  All other Char stored by user should be copied as is in the Fox.
The same logic applies to 0Quantity(with unit).
Hope this solution works for you.  Let us know if this is possible.

  • Input Readiness of Query with optional variables

    Hi,
I built one input ready query which is input ready upon execution with only one set of selections, for any other set of selections, it is not input ready.Query is built on aggregation level on the top of multiprovider. There are no data slices built, No lock entries in RSPLSE as well. Is it like if a variable in the selection screen of the query is optional, will it be moved to free characteristic and because of that input readiness of the query will disappear?? In my case, country is authorized variable which is optional. Please let me know if any one has solution for this.
    Thanks,
    Bindu

    Hi,
    Check if:
    1. You have added characteristic InfoProvider in filter area and restricted that to your plan cube?
    2. Any Keyfigure in query will have input-ready cell only if all the characterictics in the aggregation level of that query has unique values for that cell.
In your case you have moved Country to free characteristic area and might have not provided any value for it as it's optional. So system is not finding a unique value for this characteristic for input-ready cells.
Enter value for Country variable and then execute, query will be input-ready.

  • *****Can we make charcterstics as a Input ready in the input ready query.**

    Hi experts,
    Our business requirement as follows.
the existing business scenerio is, Master data ( say Product list ) )will comes from CRM , By using the input ready query , we will plan against to that master data by using IP.
But my requiment is " though the master data is not avilable( say new product came into the market which is not avilable in CRM)  in the CRM end, user wants to enter the that product name directly in the input ready and also user wants to plan against that product.
As per our requirement , user wants to enter charcterstics directly in the query like entering the key figure values directly in the input ready query.
As per as my knowledge concern , this functionality  is not avilable in IP.
so can you please suggest if any other work around solutions for this to fix this issue.
    Thanks,
    Subhratha benargeee.

    Hi Subhrata,
As I said, its not possible in IP at all. If we talk technically, IP infrastructure needs SID's. Meaning it communicates through SID values.
Once you enter characteristic value in the query, the system automatically sends the SID values to OLAP when the round trip happens. There was a certain period of time, when system automatically used to create sid's if there does not exist that value in master data for the characteristic. I dont remember the exact support pack, But that was a bug and has been fixed. Its not possible in any form web, bsp or bex analyzer on OLAP write infrastructure. As long as you dont find some RFC which can write this value to the master data table of the characteristic before the OLAP is triggered.
I understand you are writing transaction data only, But OLAP works through SID's when it gets data from infoproviders. So due to the same reason without an entry into sid and master table of the characteristic there can not exist an entry in the infoprovider. OLAP simply can not communicate without SID's.
Now coming to the scenario I explained earlier, its Business Planning & Simulation. If you design your planning application on BPS, you can design web interfaces which is a BSP application can achieve what I said.
Its not the speciality of BSP(business server pages)  which is making it possible, But the BPS interfaces are designed such a way that it communicates directly through master data and text table of charcteristics.
As of now, I do not have a solution for your scenario on IP, If I find or come across one I will surely let you know.
    All the best.
    Best regards,
    ravi.

  • IP: How to hide currency/unit from input-ready query headers?

    Hi,
Is there a way to hide currency/unit from input-ready BEx web query headers? I've used NODIM-concept for read-only reports, but with input-ready it won't work since formulas cannot be input-ready. Is there a setting somewhere or workaround? The web query is published by WAD.
    Thanks!
    Aki

    Hi Aki,
If you wanna do this in input-ready query, there is only one scenario: you restrict 0UNIT and 0CURRENCY as one certain constant value for the 'Characteristic Restrictions' in the 'Filter', and DON'T set the according 'Can Be Changed at Execution' selected. Then the 0UNIT and 0CURRENCY can be put into 'Free Characteristics', no neccessary moving them to data area.
If there're multiple value for 0UNIT or 0CURRENCY for your planning, you can't hide them in data area of INPUT-READY query, since they belong the dimension 'U'.
    Hope this will help.

  • Input ready query - not ready for input

I have created the following in IP:
    1. A multiprovider based on an actuals cube (Standard infocube) and a plan cube (realtime - data can be planned not loaded).
    2. An Aggregation level on the multiprovider - containing infoobjects: 0version, employee, WBS element, infoprovider, fiscal year, fiscal year variant, 0currency and 0amount.
    3. A filter on the following infoobjects: employee (=123456), wbs element(XX.XX.XXX.X), version (variable - mandatory; ready for input), fiscal year(2008) and fiscal year variant(XX).
    4. A planning function to copy from version 0 (actual) to version 866 (random Value - Master data exists).
I have created a query on the multiprovider and set the query properties correctly. I have also created two restricted key figures as follows:
    1. Actual (Restricted by infoprovider = actual; version = 0; fy = 2007; fyvar = XX)
    2. Plan   (Restricted by infoprovider = plan  ; version = input-ready variable; fy = 2008; fyvar = XX)
I have used all the infoobjects in the agg. level in the query. I am using the same version number (866) on the query selection screen as defined in the filter.
When I run the query, I can see only the actuals line. The plan keyfigure is not ready for input (although keyfigure properties are set to "Data can be changed using user entries or planning functions).
What am I doing wrong which is preventing the plan keyfigure from opening up for planning?
I have also tried to create an agg. level on the plan infocube with similar settings as above. When I run the query, I get a no data found result - which I think is right because there is no data in the planning cube.
PS: When I use the wizard in the planning modeler the keyfigure (0amount) can be changed.

    Hi Avya,
Use a filter on the 0currency, for a particular currency type. (if problem is: currency type keyfigures are not input ready)
This will mak it input ready.

  • Input-Readiness of Query with drill down

    Hello experts,
I've got an issue with the input readiness of a query.
In the Query I use the characterisitc "Plan" as a drill-down-characterisitc.
So I don't filter the query for the characterisitc 'plan' but I use it as drill-down-characterisitc, that ervery row is assigned to one 'plan'.
My problem is that the query is not input-ready.
Every other selection is correct. If I change my filter and filter the query for just one "Plan"-> everything works fine and the query is input ready.
When I filter for more than one "Plan" the query is not input-ready, even the characteristic "Plan" is used as drill down charactersitic in the query rows.
    Furthermore:
In the characterisitc-relationships of the cube, the characterisitc "Plan" is used as source characteristic for relationships with derivation.
I tried to deactivate all characteristic-relationships. Same problem:
    - Input ready if I filter for just one plan
    - Not input ready if I filter for more than one plan and use the plan for drill-down
    It is not:
    - a data slice problem
    - not a problem of the unique selection in any other characterisitcs
    - data load behaviour of the cube
    - chnge mode settings in query
If you have any idea, please let me know
    Thanks

  • Error in entering a new characteristic value using input ready row in WAD

    Hi Guys,
I have created input ready query with input ready row option to enter both characteristic and key figure values.  I have created info object without master data tick in Master data/text tab  to enter free text which inturn will create a new record in master data. It is working in Bex analyzer, here I can enter any value to create a  new entry in the master data but where as in WAD  I am getting error message reading invalid values. In WAD I am restricted to choose only available master data entries. Do I miss any settings in WAD. Your help will be highly appreciated.

    Hi,
the feature you are requesting is called "Master Data Planning". Unfortunately it is not supported by SAP. Please use the term "master data planning " to search this forum and you will find some threads about this issue.

  • Add new rows when query not input-ready

In the Web Application Designer, is it possible to detect whether a query is in display or change mode, and depending on the outcome to set an Analysis Item parameter ?  This would provide a solution to the following:
Background: I have a Web template used for sales quantity planning which contains two Analysis Items, each with their own input-ready query: ANALYSIS_ITEM_EXISTING allows users to enter plan values based on existing characteristic combinations, ANALYSIS_ITEM_NEW_ROWS allows users to enter new characteristic combinations and their plan values (using the 'Number of New Lines' parameter). These two separate Analysis Items are needed so that I can restrict the characteristic values differently for each. ANALYSIS_ITEM_NEW_ROWS shows only new rows, since I have set both parameters 'Number of New Lines' and 'Data Row to' to 5.
Problem: If the query underlying ANALYSIS_ITEM_NEW_ROWS is not able to go into change mode (such as when there is an active data slice, or a locking conflict), then instead of seeing 5 empty rows the user sees existing data from the underlying query. This looks bad and is confusing for the user.
Can anyone think of a solution?

    Hi Jacky,
The Bex analyzer works in the same way as in the web. You've restrict all charateristics which are not in your rows or columns to a single value. Then you can see that in excel the last blank row has a  black border. If this is the case you can add a new row.
By pressing F4 in an empty cell you can select values or if you've know the key you can type it directly. Also you can add multiple rows at once. IP collects all rows below the query.
If this not works, just put all chars from your aggr. level in the rows and check if this works. And then for each change to the restriction/layout run the query and look if you can still add new rows.
    Hope it helps.

    J.

  • WAD input ready query with new blank rows

    Hi all,
İ need to make an input ready query in wad with new blank rows under report.
in mu query i can see posted values where i need blank rows as well.
i have set number of new rows in analysis item.
    what else i should do.
when i run my query, it gives warning that i have no columns that i can enter manually.
    Any help?
    thanks

    Hi,
A few points that you should check:
    1) Whether all characteristics of the Aggregation level are restricted to one single value except for characteristics included in the rows;
    2) Whether all the characteristics included in the rows are displayed with the Key (with or without text);
    3) If you have a Unit characteristic in the row, it still has to be restricted to a single value in the filter.
These are some of the typical reasons why I have encountered the same problem!

  • Insert new rows in a input ready query

    Hello,
I have to build an input ready query in which the users should insert new records.
In the "old" transaction BPS0 there was an option to do this but now I'm using RSPLAN for planning...
What is the best way (or maybe a good way) to build this input ready query?
    Thanks a lot

    Hi,
If these characteristics have no char relationship you can add new rows as follow:
All the characteristics you have in your aggregation level must have single values in your input ready query. So restrict by variables or put them in the layout (not as a free-characteristic). In the front-end tools you have a select option to "Insert new lines". If you have added this you can add new records to your query. If you hover over a input cell and press F4 the user will get an input help.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Juriaan
