Restricting the creation of table in a particular user
Hi All,
WE have Oralce Enterprise 7.3.4 running on Sun Solaris. We have a number of
users owning specific schemas and running differnet applications.
We don't want all users to be able to create or alter tables in their own
schemas either but want them to allow insert/update/delete.
We have removed standard roles and assinged custom roles without creae table system privlege. But users are still able to create tables in their schemas.
How can I allow all update/insert/delete but deny create table privelegs.

IMHO, everyone's responses are sidestepping the primary problem. It is a fundamentally sound practice that for a given application, that there be made a seperate and physical distinction between the application schema that "owns" the objects and another schema that "connects" to use those objects.
So here's my basic recipe for resolution,
1. Call the current application user the "owning" schema.
2. Create a new application "connect" user that has connect privileges only and no tablespace quota whatsoever.
3. Make grants on the owning schema objects to the "connect" user or roles granted to the "connect" user (preferred) as you require.
4. Create private synonyms for the "owning" schema objects of the same name in the "connect" user schema.
No application code requires alteration, and you now have infinite data structure integrity of the application objects.
The really scarry thing that you didn't even mention is that you can't even stop the application from dropping its own tables. Quite scarry.

In the competitive scenario in the first screen itself there are fields for "Due date" and "Due time". Once these entries are maintained, that particular collaboration will get freezed then and no documents or bids can be submitted post that time.

As Mahesh said , you need to put validation there, please contact your development team for this.
Though you are able to see all storgae location you are not able to create the material master, it throws as error if you select incorrect storage location which is not maintained for that particulare plant.
It gives an error message
Entry Plant SL does not exist in T001L (check entry)
So user will not be able to create material master for improper plant SL combination.

Restrict the creation of customer master records at sales area level
I know that you can supress fields at the company code and sales area level in customer master, but, is there a way in configuration to restrict the creation of a customer master record at the company code and sales area levels? Only the general data level is needed for this customer account group.

Create the Customer Master without entering the Company Code and sales Area. The system will allow and ask you to fill only the General Data.
The other way is that Create a Account Group and suppress its all Fields of Accounting View and Sales Area View, so that for that account group you will have to maitain only the General view.

Problem regarding the creation of Table using CSS.

Here I have a Problem regarding the creation of Table using CSS.
In My Application i have a table with multiple rows(Rows are Dynamically added to the table).First i am setting the table with the following properties:
width:900px;
height : auto,
Overflow : visible,
Max-height: : 200px.
If I use above properties,I'm getting a table with 5 or 6 rows(height upto 200px).After that i am getting the Vertical ScrollBar.
The problem is when a table has many columns, Vertical and Horizontal Scrolls are coming at the time of setting the table. The table height is not Increasing dynamically.
How can i use "height" property in CSS? (I want the table height to be increased when the columns are more.)

MadhaviHey humble user. Errr I'm trying to understand what ur trying to do. U want to create a section of a region destructively from an existing region right? If so select the option convert to new region (opt-comm-R or selecting it by right clicking). Check your audio bin to make sure. Whats the "merge" function? Are u refering to the glue tool?

Hello,
can anyone please help me out with this issue.
I want to find out how many times the application was accessed by a particular user,their session IDs for each of the applications in a particular workspace. I am using a role based authorization scheme for my application. I am using Oracle APEX 3.2 version. Are their any underlying APEX tables/Views to find out the above details.

How do you restrict the number of table columns on the data tab?
I have a table with 50+ columns. Is it possible to restrict the list of columns on the data tab to say 5 columns as I'm only interested in seeing/updateing the data for these 5 columns. You can restrict the number of rows using the filter but not the columns. Is there some other way seeing an updateable "view" of the table? I suppose you could create a number of views and edit through them but there are too many combinations.

Paul PI don't know of any way of reducing the number of columns that display in the Table data grid.
However, you can rearrange the columns to have the five columns you want to edit as the first five. With fifty columns, even this would be some effort to find and drag them to the left of the view, but it should give you the five columns you want to update on the window at the same time. -

How to restrict the Usage of Rejection Store for an User?

Avoid particular storage location from QC
this is possible through autherization object M_MSEG_LGO
Go to SPRO->mat mgt->Inventory mgt& physical inventory->Autherisation Manegement>Autherizarion check for storage location-->for you plant & Storage loaction click on Autherization.
When the indicator is set you must have authorization for the authorization object Goods movements: storage location ( M_MSEG_LGO) in order to enter a goods movement in the storage location using a particular movement type.
In M_MSEG_LGO
The authorization object contains four fields:
1.Activity: defines whether the user:
may enter goods movements (Activity=1)
may change goods movements (Activity=2)
may display goods movements (Activity=3)
2.Movement type: defines the movement types you can use to to maintain goods movements.
3.Storage location: defines which storage locations in which plant you may maintain.
4.Plant: defines which plants the user may maintain.
here you can Quarentive Quality people from these storage loactioon.

Restricting the Visibility of FireFighter Roles to selcted users
Dear Experts,
Is there any way to restrict the visibiilty of FireFigher roles in GRC CUP to only few authorized users. we have a requirement where a group of authorized users should be able to check out fire fighter roles on their own and these roles should be provisioned automatically to these users and then de-provision those roels after some time. These rolese should not be visible to the rest of the users.
Any throughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

There is no straightforward or right way to do this as this feature is not available in CUP.
You can associate those users with a functional area and restrict the role selection by functional area. Also, associate the roles with the same functional area. Again, this is not going to force users unless you bring functional area from the data source like LDAP and keep the field non-editable.

How to restrict the creation of un wanted threads ?

I am using SunApplication Server 8.1. when I submit a request using Internet Explorer it is creating two threads for the same reaquest, due to this each task is executed twice by these threads.
The strange thing is , Using Mozilla Firefox, when I submit the request it is creating only one thread and program works fine.
I came to know that by seeing server logs .

Implement sequence in the creation of table?
Hey, I was wondering if it is possible to implement the sequence function in when I am creating the table.
For example:
create table customer(
customer_id number(6) PRIMARY KEY,
name varchar2(40)
and then I got the sequence:
create sequence aut_customer_id
minvalue 100000
maxvalue 999999
start with 100001
increment by 1
When im going to use the sequence, I will use "insert into" and then the aut_cumster_id.nextval to get a number...
Is it possible to implement this when im creating the table?

While the most common use of a sequence is to generate a PK for a table, as far as oracle is concerned a sequence is nothing more than a number generator. There is no inherent connection between a sequence and a table. It is simply up to the application designer to decide how he wants to use a sequence. That is why there is no way to define a sequence and/or somehow bind it to a table when the table is created. -
Purchasing: Restriction of creation of PO's on the basis of buyer / user
Hi,
We are currently working on a requirement in which the business is expecting to restrict the buyers / users from creating Purchase Orders of some specific GL natural accounts.
Is there any functionality using which we can provide lock / check on this.
As the business wants to achieve this lock, since the users (buyers) are using the same responsibility and those responsibilities might have their own independent locks on the usage of Balancing Segment Values and other Cross Validation Rules.
But, we are looking for something specific which will restrict the creation of PO's based upon the login of user / buyer / PO Creator itself.
Any inputs in this regard shall be of great help.
