Tahn, if I remember correctly, there is an API that sounds like "get path id". You can try to investigate in that direction.

Single Item Access

I am relatively new to XML / JAXP technologies and was wondering if there is a syntax available that would permit retrieving a node by specifying the ancestory of the node? For example, if I had the following XML:

Is there a way to retrieve the city for Donald in a single access such that I don't have to walk the tree? Maybe use getElementsByTagName() and specify the ancestory with the value Donald somehow?
By the way, is it considered good form to not put a value after a node that has children?

just wrote a rough code..

Item access inside tab

Hi there
Have a single page with with tabs and below the tabs one region.
I want all users (incl. the non logged in) to see the page.
But in the regions I want some access restictions.
This works fine outside the tabs.
In side the tabs, every users (logged in or not) can see everything.
Page Access property: display to public users, enable item security (both checked)
tab page acess proptery: Inherit access settings from the page and display tab to public users (both checked)
On the item I defined item level access privilege and the the access to one single user.
No effect, I still can see all items (even I'm not logged in)?!?!?!?
Is this an error, anybody got the same problem???

This is a known bug. Fixed in the next release (9.0.2.6 - early 2003).

AS - all page items, access not allowed

I am upgrading an AppleScript from working with InDesign CS5.5 to CS6. When I recompile I get the syntax error:
"Can't set <<constant dpvtdppv>> to <<class aPgi>>.
Access not allowed."
My statement is a simple
"set pList to get all page items" within a tell myDoc section.
In reviewing the AS guide for InDesign CS6, the notes say that Chapter 4, covering all page items, was not changed in CS6. Page 113 of the guide phrases the statement without a "get", so my statement would be
"set pList to all page items". This fails with the same error. As my code gets plenty of use under CS5 and CS5.5, I suspect a dictionary error from Adobe.
Anyone with ideas?

OIM & Menu Items + Access Rights

Hi,
I am trying to customize groups in OIM. I would like to make a specific group to be able to manage users who are for example, managed by user YYY and ONLY them.
So far, I updated the Menu Items of the group so users who belongs to that group can manage users. The problem is, when I make a search request for users, OIM tells me back that no user are found...
My bet is that the group doesn't have the rights to make a lookup query on users. I can't find how to change that. (I already gave all the access rights to the group from the web interface)
I would also like to know how it is possible to customize that query.

Hello Suita,
In a Business Role you can go into "Fields & Actions" and there you will be able to find some standard fields or actions that you can restrict to a role as well.
We are suing this for some fields changes, or like Account Team modification, Sales Quote creation etc.
I am not sure you will be able to do everything but it's quite flexible and you can probably forward your specific request to Support to have them help you out. I believe you can easily block Status modification from there for instance. We at least do that for Business Partners/Customers.
You can check the Admin Guide page 153, maybe in the Help Center in C4C directly there would be better examples for "Fields & Actions".
Also, the SAP Service Center added a feature called "UI Switches" for us in our of our projects with them to allow us cover some of the fields not protected via the "Fields & Actions" settings. It is working well for us. This can be another solution for specific user right modifications.
Another thing you can look at as well is the Dynamic Screen Layout feature (with a well done guide). Maybe it can also suit your needs depending on the business scenario you want to do?

User Item Access/Visibility

Is there anyway in which it is possible to make only certain items accessible/visible to certain users? In other words when placing a Purchase Order, User 1 can only see a specific sub set of Inventory Items which are relevant to the function of that user. User 2 may see a different sub set of Inventory Items relevant to the function of that user.

From some examples of the salesordercollection I know how to build line-items-lists.
The model would look somewhat like this (Lineitems as attribute and substructure of the main Object)

Retriction of access the custom table

Hi Experts,
    I created a custom table. Here I have 5users. the first 3 user want to access the custom table in change mode. the remaining 2 users want to see table in diplay mode only.
    But here SAP is allow access the table in change mode only to one user. Is it not possible to do this one to multiple users?
   Please tell me.

Here lock concept comes into picture, as you are saying like 3 users in change mode where if one is editing the records and if another opens then obviously table locks. Check this and ask your Basis guys for the authorizations setting like for 3 users change action and for the another 2 users display action.

How to restrict folder access on the basis of an ip address

I would like to restrict folder or item access on the basis of an ip address or domain address, not only with access rights based on login server, to get the possibility of intranet end internet within the machine and the same instance of 9ias.

Currently, this option is not supported. Going forward, there will be an option for user hookups where you can add you own functions to augment the ACLs. The forthcoming 3.0.9.8.3 patch should include the function-based authorization.

Export complete "Most Popular Items" report

I need to take snapshots of the Most Popular Items (views) report for a pages library so we can analyze the data to get weekly/monthly/yearly visit trends/data for each page within the library. Our typical pages library (being used as KB's) contains 200+
pages (in one instance, over 1,000) so exporting & combining the data for each individual page every week is just not an option. What I'm looking for is a way to export the "Most Popular Items" (accessed via Library tab > Most Popular Items)
to an Excel spreadsheet without having to manually copy/paste/clean up each page of data. Has anyone found a way (programmatically or otherwise) to accomplish this?
Is it possible to modify the "topreport.aspx" page to include an 'Export to Excel' type function? Or at the least, is it possible to customize the layout of that page to be more Excel-friendly (for example: show all results on 1 page or make each
entry appear as a single row)? Is this data able to be captured through PerformancePoint?
Any help/guidance will be greatly appreciated!

Per my understanding, you might want to export the Most Popular Items related data to an Excel report in a specific format.
As there is no OOTB feature can meet your requirement, custom code would be required.
In Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Analytics namespace, there is a method “UsageAnalytics.GetAnalyticsItemData”
which can help to “Retrieves aggregated usage data for a specified item for a specified event type”.

Read sharepoint list items and display it inside a div in aspx page

So I have this sample aspx page with this design:

Now, I want to dynamically change the words (Events, Details, COntacts) depending on the content of my "Columns" sp list.

Using Copy-Item to overwrite files in remote server directory

I am trying to copy newer files over older files from my workstation to a server using the copy-item cmdlet.
The cmdlet looks something like this:
copy-item *.* \\servername\c:$\pathname -force
There are no subfolders involved, so -recurse is not necessary.
When I run the command, I get this:

I am running with administrative credentials at both ends of the network path AND I can use the GUI to copy and paste the files using Windows Explorer. I am losing hair due to scratching my head.

Yes, what threw me was my ablity to copy and paste using Explorer from my machine to the server in an RDP session. I asked myself, "If I could do that, why can I not use the command line?"
Then I did some googling and found all kinds of the same error but it was pointing towards files that existed or sharepoint sites. In some of those cases, the solution was to remove the folder and then replace it. That was not a an option in
my case.
So, I figure I can read using my normal user credentials and copy to the clipboard and then in the RDP window, I am the Admin user and can paste from my machine's clipboard. Interesting behavior.

Access OID Groups in Portal

I've setup item access privileges on a page. I have created a new OID group and attempted to give this group access to this item. I can choose the group, but when it's added, it does not show the group name, rather a number, i.e., (D8F909F2393035B7E0340003BA2183E9).
What can I do to make the group name show up?

To access Peoplesoft applications from Portal you have two options :
1) By using Appintegrator iView : As all the applications in peoplesoft has their own urls like for attendance regularization, leave applicaion etc., you create appintegrator iview which points to ur peoplesoft application and by doing user-mapping, users can access these applications. 2) By developing application in VC: You can easily create nice looking applications in VC & host them on portal. VC can pull data from peoplesoft in 3 ways :
      - By using WebService : Expose peoplesoft applications as web services and u can easily create model in VC. (Recommended)
      - Directly accessing database using JDBC drivers : Though this approach is not recommended, u can directly connect to peoplesoft database tables and fetch the desired data.
      - iWay JDBC drivers : These are 3rd party drivers available to connect to peoplesoft database.

Simple File Item

I am new to portal development, and i need to add some links in a page , so that clicking the link download a file, i used a simple file item, but i need to know how to prevent the user from downloading if he is a public user and hasn'y yet logged in.
i want to display a message " you have to login in first" or redirect him to the login page

You can use Enable item level security,
Page properties >> Access tab >> check the box 'Enable Item Level Security'.
Then, Edit file item >> Access tab >> grant the required access.

Control user access to FBL3N by cost center

Hi Expert,
Need your advice.
Our user wish to control the staffs access to FBL3N by cost center.
This is due to the FBL3N contains salaries posting for different department.
However the FBL3N GL listing report also contain documents without cost center.
Any ideas how can we perform the control ? If the FBL3N can amend with include cost center as checking, for the rest of GL without cost center, is it accessible by all users ?

Sorry for misleading. Initiate the request was to retrict the access with cost center object, since it is not possible. So we will advice the user to restrict the GL access.
Just need to confirm, can we modify the FBL3N object F_BKFP_BES : Account authorization for G/L accounts from Check to Check/Maintain ? So that we can assign certain GL only accessible by normal users.
And any impact on this once the changes is make ?
