Retrieve Data using SQL Data Reader
Hello Team, I am working on a program where we have to read the data from sql database for specific barcode. Please have a look at the code below.
If SqlConnection.State = ConnectionState.Closed Then
SqlConnection.Open()
End If
Try
Dim SQLCommand As New SqlClient.SqlCommand("SELECT * FROM tblProducts WHERE Barcode= @Barcode", SqlConnection)
SQLCommand.Parameters.AddWithValue("@Barcode", txtPurchaseBarcode.Text)
frmNoBarcode.lblBarcode.Text = txtPurchaseBarcode.Text
Dim SQLReader As SqlClient.SqlDataReader
SQLReader = SQLCommand.ExecuteReader
If SQLReader.Read Then ' Barcode Exist
' Load Product Name
lblFetchProduct.Text = SQLReader.Item("ItemName").ToString
SQLReader.Close()
End If
Catch ex As Exception
End Try
If SqlConnection.State = ConnectionState.Open Then
SqlConnection.Close()
End If
So It display the records, I just want that, in some case, if the program is unable to search for the barcode, then program should give me a message that the Item does not exist and Exit Sub the application. Can somebody help me up ?
Sir, can you please help me by giving me a code sample so I can understand in a better way, thanks
If you are referring to me, the way I would write the whole code: (just a suggestion...)
Private Function GetItemNameFromTblProductsByBarcode(ByVal Barcode As String) As String
If SqlConnection.State = ConnectionState.Closed Then
SqlConnection.Open()
End If
Try
Dim SQLCommand As New SqlClient.SqlCommand("SELECT ItemName FROM tblProducts WHERE Barcode= @Barcode", SqlConnection)
Dim Value As Object
SQLCommand.Parameters.AddWithValue("@Barcode", Barcode)
Value = SQLCommand.ExecuteScalar
Return If(Value Is Nothing, Nothing, Value.ToString)
Finally
SqlConnection.Close()
End Try
End Function
'' Call:
Dim Itemname As String
Itemname = GetItemNameFromTblProductsByBarcode(txtPurchaseBarcode.Text)
If Itemname Is Nothing Then
MessageBox.Show( _
"The item with the barcode " & txtPurchaseBarcode.Text & " does not exist.", "", _
MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Information)
Else
lblFetchProduct.Text = Itemname
frmNoBarcode.lblBarcode.Text = Itemname
End If
I do not know whe meaning of lblFetchProduct and frmNoBarcode.lblBarcode, so I just set them both in case the barcode has been found.

Retrieving records using SQL Date Queries
Hello,
I am using Lab Windows CVI 8.5 and also SQL TOolkit for my project. I am using DBMapColumnToChar function for mapping Date to the database. And for retrieving records I am using SQL Query as follows:
SELECT * FROM DBTable WHERE DATE_TABLE BETWEEN '%s' AND '%s'",cCurrentDate,cCurrentDate
I have given a drop down for selecting dates.
When I execute the query I am not getting the selected date values an instead I am getting some records for which the dates aren't selected...
Quick help needed for this..Thanks in advanceDepending on the database, the date/time structure can be completely different from the structure in CVI. CVI uses the Windows format for time(), that is the number of seconds since 1900. The tm struct can break this apart into a date and time structure that is usable.
I am using MS Access for the databases and SQL toolkit. I finally ended up replace the date field with an INT field format, and then store the CVI time (gotten with time()) as an INT value.
Easy then to get a search range, store it a tm struct and then convert with mktime() to a calendar time to search with.
Hope this helps. The date/time thing is a never ending struggle.

Can i store and retrieve image using sql command?
hi
the following is what i enter to store image in table using sql*plus
however i encounter some errors as shown below.
i wondered if i actually can use sql to store image and retreive image
or i need other developer beside sql to do.
create table img_storage
(id number primary key,
image ORDSYS.ORDImage);
CREATE or REPLACE procedure ADD_image (tmp_id number, file_name varchar2)
as
obj ORDSYS.ORDImage;
ctx raw(4000) := null;
begin
INSERT INTO img_classifier (id, image) VALUES (tmp_id,
ORDSYS.ORDImage (ORDSYS.ORDSOURCE(EMPTY_BLOB(),
NULL,NULL,NULL,SYSDATE,NULL),
NULL,NULL,NULL,NULL,NULL,NULL,NULL));
COMMIT;
SELECT image into obj FROM img_storage
where id = tmp_id FOR UPDATE;
obj.importFrom(ctx,'FILE','IMGDIR',file_name);
obj.setproperties();
UPDATE img_storage
SET image = obj where id = tmp_id;
COMMIT;
end;
show errors;
create or replace directory imgdir as 'c:\image\';
exec add_image(1,'argvseng.jpg');
BEGIN add_image(1,'argvseng.jpg'); END;
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00001: unique constraint (SYS.SYS_C002717) violated
ORA-06512: at "SYS.ADD_IMAGE", line 7
ORA-06512: at line 1
how to reslove the error as shown above.
or sql does not support ordsys.ordimage such command.
hmm very confused ....
what is the difference bet using blob for image and ordsys.ordimage?This has nothing to do with intereMedia.
This is a basic SQL issue.
A primary key cannot have duplicate entries in a table as the error message suggests.
Before you call your peocedure you can delete the row with 1 as the primary key, or call the insert peocedure using a primary key that is not being used. -
Retrieve int using sql statements
Hi there,
Does anyone have any ideas as to how i can update a database table with an integer, returned from a second table as part of an sql statement.
Here is part of the method to get the value i want out of the database:
public int retrieveId() throws SQLException
sta = c.prepareStatement("SELECT MAX(cid) FROM Customer");
ResultSet rs = sta.executeQuery();
//this method retrieves the first (and in this case the only)
//value in the result set as an integer
rs.getInt(1);
//?????i am unsure as to what to do here to return this integer
}To clarify my problem, this value will be used to update a second table in the database, i.e:
public void updateHasAddress() throws SQLException
sta = c.prepareStatement("INSERT INTO HasAddress(cid) VALUES(?);");
sta.setInt(1, retrieveId());
sta.executeUpdate();
sta.close();
}However, i have no idea how to return just the integer in the first method - and without all sorts of strange exceptions being thrown - i have tried all sorts of work arounds, but none have worked so far!
Thanks for your TimeOne thing though, if the statment execution failed for any reason, then you are not closing your statement/result set which will cause problems down the line.
public int retrieveId()
String query = "";
try {
query = "SELECT MAX(cid) FROM Customer";
Statement stmt = connect.createStatement();
ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery(query);
rs.next();
int a = rs.getInt(1);
rs.close();
stmt.close();
return a;
catch(Exception ex) {
System.out.println(ex);
return null;
}Try this instead:
public int retrieveId()
String query = "";
ResultSet rs = null;
Statement stmt = null;
try {
query = "SELECT MAX(cid) FROM Customer";
stmt = connect.createStatement();
rs = stmt.executeQuery(query);
rs.next();
int a = rs.getInt(1);
return a;
catch(Exception ex) {
System.out.println(ex);
return null;
finally
try { rs.close(); } catch ( Exception e ) {}
try { stmt.close(); } catch ( Exception e ) {}
}Now, you have no chance of leaving cursors open or getting memory leaks. -
Help Required -- Can we use SQL Query to READ data from SAP MDM Tables
Hi All,
Please help.........
Can we use SQL Query to READ(No Creation/Updation/Deletion just Read) Data from SAP MDM tables directly, without using MDM Syndicator.
Or direct SQL access to SAP MDM tables is not possible. Only through MDM Syndicator can we export data.
Thanks in Advance
RegardsAll the tables you create in Repository comes under A2i_CM_Tables in Database named as your repository name. So the tables names are fields of table A2i_CM_Tables. Now i tried it but cant make it.
Now, I dont think its possible to extract all fields in tables and there values using select query. May be pure sql guy can do that or not.
But there is no relation of data extraction and syndicator. Data is viewed in Data Manager. and you can also store data in a file from DM also.

I am using the "fetch all" vi to do this, but it is retrieving one record at a time, (if you examine the block diagram) How can i retrieve all records in a faster more efficient manner?
If this isn't faster than your previous method, then I think you found the wrong example. If you have the Database Connectivity Toolkit installed, then go to the LabVIEW Help menu and select "Find Examples". It defaults to searching for tasks, so open the "Communicating with External Applications" and "Databases" and open the Read All Data. The List Column names just gives the correct header to the resulting table and is a fast operation. That's not what you are supposed to be looking at ... it's the DBTools Select All Data subVI that is the important one. If you open it and look at its diagram, you'll see that it uses a completely different set of ADO methods and properties to retrieve all the data.

Hi Friends,
I am using Oracle 8.1.6 Server, & facing problems while retrieving data from a PL/SQL Table:
CREATE or REPLACE PROCEDURE test_proc IS
TYPE tP2 is TABLE of varchar2(10); --declared a collection
dt2 tP2 := tP2('a','b','c');
i NUMBER(8);
begin
SELECT COUNT(*) INTO i FROM TABLE(CAST(dt2 as tP2));
DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('**'||i);
end;
While executing the above procedure, I encountered foll. error:
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [15419], [severe error during PL/SQL execution], [], [],
ORA-06544: PL/SQL: internal error, arguments: [pfrrun.c:pfrbnd1()], [], [], [], [], [], [], []
ORA-06553: PLS-801: internal error [0]
Can anyone please help me, where the problem is??
Is it Possible to retrieve data from PL/SQL TABLE using SELECT statement? & How ?
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards,
Jay Raval.Thanks Roger for the Update.
It means that have to first CREATE TYPE .. TABLE in database then only I can fire a Select statement on that TYPE.
Actually I wanted to fire a Select statement on the TABLE TYPE, defined & declared in PLSQL stored procedure using DECLARE TYPE .. TABLE & not using CREATE TYPE .. TABLE.
I was eager to know this, because my organization is reluctant in using CREATE TYPE .. TABLE defined in the database, so I was looking out for another alternative to access PL/SQL TABLE using Select statement without defining it database. It would have been good if I could access a PLSQL TABLE using Select statement Declared locally in the stored procedure.
Can I summarize that to access a PL/SQL TABLE using SELECT statement, I have to first CREATE TYPE .. TABLE?
If someone have any other idea on this, please do let me know.
Thanks a lot for all help.
Best Regards,
Jay Raval.
You have to define a database type...
create type tP2 is table of varchar2(10)
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE TEST_PROC
IS
dt2 tP2 := tP2('a','b','c');
i NUMBER(8);
begin
SELECT COUNT(*) INTO i FROM TABLE(CAST (dt2 AS tP2));
DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('**'||i);
end;
This will work.

How to use SQL*LOADER to read data in |SMITH|ALFRED| format
the data I need to upload to table using SQL*LOADER is in format as below:
|AD |Argentina |

I googled and people say that use Enclosed fields—delimiter (|), and I tried with below, but not working:
LOAD DATA

insert
INTO TABLE tmp_country_mapping
FIELDS ENCLOSED BY '|'
(country_id, country_name)
BEGINDATA
|AD |Argentina |
|CN |China |
|US |America |
|GB |England |Anyone could help?
BTW, I don`t want the spaces behind the value of the second column.
Thanks

We are in the process of migrating from BPC7 SP12 Microsoft sql server to BPC10 netweaver on a sql server with BW7.4 and need to integrate our home grown data warehouse which is on a Microsoft sql server. The data warehouse currently connects to BPC7 using integration services/analysis services and runs mdx queries to analysis services to retrieve data from the BPC7 cube (view only). Please provide documentation on how to create this same integration with our data warehouse using BPC10 netweaver on a sql server.
When you were setting up your ODBC data source for
the Text driver, did you click on the "Options"
button? There's a lot of options in there that I
didn't understand at first glance.Yes I clicked on the options button, but the only thing there is dealing with file extensions. I left it set to the default.
I have since tried closing my connection after I insert a record, I then try executeQuery, but still no luck. Seems strange that I can write to the file but not read from it. If any thing I'd expect the opposite problem.
I have also tried using the class "JoltReport" from the sun tutorial instead of my own with the same result.

Retrieving data from OBIEE server using ODBC
Hello.
I am having difficulty retrieving data from OBIEE 11g using the ODBC connection. My intention is to read OBIEE Server data via a SQL statement issued from an Oracle database using gateways.
I have read and followed the material here:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/bi.1111/e16364/odbc_data_source.htm#CACBFCJA
I have also tried this from Excel 2007, but have not succeeded:
http://gerardnico.com/wiki/dat/obiee/import_data_from_obiee_to_excel
I have setup a gateway in Oracle and a database link. Iknow it is connecting because when I change the password to something invalid, I get a message about not being able to connect due to username/password.
I have taken a query from Answers (the advanced tab) and tried running it from Sql Developer. The nsqserver.log file ends up with the following Notification:
[nQSError: 13013] Init block, 'DUAL Num (=3)', has more variables than the query select list.
As an experiment, I am using the SampleApp, and have generated the following query in Answers:
SELECT s_0, s_1, s_2, s_3 FROM (
SELECT
0 s_0,
"A - Sample Sales"."Products"."P3 LOB" s_1,
DESCRIPTOR_IDOF("A - Sample Sales"."Products"."P3 LOB") s_2,
"A - Sample Sales"."Base Facts"."1- Revenue" s_3
FROM "A - Sample Sales"
) djm ORDER BY 1, 2 ASC NULLS LAST
Is there a way to issue this query from a database client like SQL Developer? I have setup a database link called obiee via gateways to the ODBC connection, and add @obiee after the table name in the above query, but get the nqs error above.
Thanks for any help. I can provide addl info if such would be useful.
AriThat would explain my difficulty. I went to the link:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/relnotes.1111/e10132/biee.htm#CHDIFHEE
that describes the deprecated client. I am confused by the statement there:
"one of the many widely available third-party ODBC/JDBC tools to satisfy previous NQClient functionality"
My understanding of ODBC is not very strong, so please bear with me. The statement above is talking about a client tool, but there also needs to be an ODBC driver available for BI Server. I may be a bit confused between driver and client, and what piece nq handles. I don't understand the comment about third-party ODBC when it comes to the driver piece, as that must be coded for BI Server. When I go to create a new DSN, the only driver that makes sense for me to select is:
Oracle BI Server 11g_OH<id>
That all works fine to setup a DSN. But I am unable to connect from Excel, etc., using this DSN.
Put more simply, should I be able to connect to BI Server via ODBC - not using the deprecated BI ODBC client, but using other clients? Is there ODBC connectivity at all in OBIEE 11g?
Thanks,
Ari -
Hi all,
Has anyone come across SQL Server 2012 SP1 CU8/9 failing to install with a “Failed to retrieve data for this request.” error.
The error is too generic for a useful search on web, for me at least anyway.
Had no problems patching a whole bunch of other servers in the same environment.
I’m no good at reading these error logs. For some reason the primary replica is referenced in the detailed log???
The CU8/9 patch has been run by both Domain Admins and local Admin with no luck.
We are trying to patch a secondary failover replica. (SharePoint 2013 is installed on this server.)
This is from the summary log:

IMO I strongly feel it is issue with the account. Microsoft has also documented about this for SQL Server 2008 .Have a look at following links

Please also assign privilege mentioned in below link

How to export data to .csv and send that file to folder using sql commands?
Really hoping someone can provide some code sample or point me in the right direction (with examples using sql).
I am using oracle 11g with plsql developer. My requirement is that the data retrieval should be automatic. That means when query a data in oracle table , the data should be convert into .csv file and then it should send that to some specific folder.
Example: Assume that student_sub1 table have all students subject1 data.when i write a query like select * from student_sub1 where student=1, the student1 data should convert into .csv file and then the .csv file should go to student1 folder.
Hence I am requesting you to suggest me how write a sql code to convert the data into .csv file and to create a folder to send that file using oracle.
Your inputs helps me alot.
Thanks in advance!!!!

How to retrieve Data from SAP BW to SQL
Hi All,
i am looking for way to retrieve Data from SAP BW to SQL.
Could you please give me some indcations or a document on how to implement it?
Thanks in advance
Cheers
GiloHi,
You need to use open hub destination. third party tool destination for SQL
SAP BW TO SQL -- Extraction to the third-party tool can be executed as follows:
1. You define an open hub destination with Third-Party Tool as the destination type.
2. You create an RFC destination for your third-party tool and enter it in the definition of the open hub destination.
3. You use API RSB_API_OHS_DEST_SETPARAMS to define the parameters for the third-party tool that are required for the extraction.
4. You either start extraction immediately or include it in a process chain. You can also start this process chain from the third-party tool using process chain API RSPC_API_CHAIN_START. The extraction process then writes the data to a database table in the BI system.
5. When the extraction process is finished, the system sends a notification to the third-party tool using API RSB_API_OHS_3RDPARTY_NOTIFY.
6. The extracted data is read by API RSB_API_OHS_DEST_READ_DATA.
7. The status of the extraction is transferred to the monitor by API RSB_API_OHS_REQUEST_SETSTATUS. -
Retrieving data from Microsoft Access using JDBC
I noticed that when i tried retrieving data from Microsoft access using JDBC, I realised that it was throwing SQLException when the column names were two word with spaces between them, e.g. Date Birth. But after i removed the space from the column names, my SQL queries were retrieving data. Was it because of the space in between the column names of the table?
Yeah, as far as I know having two word column names isn't allowed in SQL. There might be some way to escape it, but generally it's sensible to avoid it.

Any way to use OBDC in SAP to access MySQL DB and retrieve data
I'd like to logon to an external MySQL DB (can de done easily enough with PHP) but I'd like to do it with ABAP if possible.
Connecting via OBDC I should be able to retreive the data from the DB and then use it in my SAP application.
Some databases will allow connection via
EXEC SQL.
connect to :dbsid
ENDEXEC.
EXEC SQL.
set connection :dbsid
ENDEXEC.
EXEC SQL.
open xxxxxxx for
select
...... data from external DB
from tablespace in external db
ENDEXEC.
do.
EXEC SQL.
fetch next XXXXXX into
:db_table_field, .... etc
ENDEXEC.
if sy-subrc ne 0.
exit.
endif.
insert table int_sap_table.
enddo.
EXEC SQL.
close XXXXXX
ENDEXEC.
If you can make this type of stuff work for a MySQL DB i'd appreciate the answer.
Using PHP has a drawback as you need to have it installed on the front end PC and run in Foreground.
The EXEC SQL commands run in batch which is what you need if you are talking about 100,000's of records from an external DB.
Cheers
jimboHi Graham
Currently it doesn't seem to support MySQL.
Now that SAP has taken over again the development of MAXDB I can't see it providing direct MySQL to SAP functionality.
MAXDB is available but that would mean changing the entire architecture and we don't want to do that.
I think probably the best route to go would be to create a BAPI which is capable of performing a logon to the remote MySQL DB server, get the data and either send it back as IDOCS, an external flat file, or as an internal table depending on the volume of data to be retrieved.
The good thing about MySQL is that the command line interface makes logging on and retrieving data quite simple.
This data is actually wanted in a BI / BW system to provide for a number of business proces analyses.
I did think abut using "Web Services" but the data retrieval will essentially be done offline.
There is no requirement currently for transferring data FROM SAP back to the MySQL database ( although if you've ever dealt with top level management you know how quickly developments can change).
PHP for all it's drawbacks is the really easy way - but we'll have a problem doing this in background from the SAP servers. For foreground tasks it's a real doddle if you have php on your front end.
for example
<?php
$username = "pee_wee";
$password = "let_me_in";
$hostname = "localhost"; */* IP address of remote DB server */*
$dbh = mysql_connect($hostname, $username, $password)
or die("Unable to connect to MySQL");
print "Connected to MySQL<br>";
// you're going to do lots more here soon
mysql_close($dbh);
?>
Batch mode also seems OK also from the documentation
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/batch-mode.html
so running an ABAP which can issue system commands (readily available) should work in theory provided the SAP server can connect to the remote MySQL server machine.
Thanks for your suggestions however
Cheers

Using servlets to read from text file and insert data
Hi,
Can I use a servlet to read from a space delimited text file on the client computer and use that data to insert into a table in my database? I want to make it easy for my users to upload their data without having to have them use SQL*Loader. If so can someone give me a hint as how to get started? I appreciate it.
Thanks,
ColbyCreate a page for the user to upload the file to your webserver and send a message (containing the file location) to a server app that will open the file, parse it, and insert it into your database. Make sure you secure the page.
or
Have the user paste the file into a simple web form that submits to a servlet that parses the data and inserts it into your db.
