Retrieve image column

Hi,
Can anyone show to me, with an example, by which we can use executeQuery to retrieve one image column from the DB, and then show/refresh it on the jsf page?

Accessing IMAGE Columns in SQL Server

I'm trying to use the TG4MSSQL to access tables in a SS2k database. All is well, except for 1 table that has an IMAGE column in it. I must say that I'm a little surprised and disappointed that the 10gR2 gateway for MSSQL apparently translates these things into LONG RAW columns, which are known to be antiquated and minimally supported. However, I still need access to the data, and ultimately, I need it in a BLOB. Doing simple queries (in TOAD) such as:
select * from image@tg4ss where image_id = 1;
returns the row, and I can use TOAD to determine that all the data is there. However, apparently, you cannot use PL/SQL to bind more than 32K of this data into a variable, so I haven't had much success there.
The only way I know of converting a long raw to a blob is to use the to_lob function, but that's only good in the select list of a subquery of an insert statement. Thing is, that doesn't seem to work with the gateway. I tried something like:
insert into my_blob_table( id, image )
select id, to_lob(image) as image from image@tg4ss where id = 1;
That gets me a ORA-00997: illegal use of LONG datatype.
In fact, I can't even do this:
insert into my_long_raw_table( id, image )
select id, image from image@tg4ss where id = 1;
I get the same error on that command.
Now, I can do this, but I only get the first 32k of the image:

So, does anyone know how you can get image data out of an SQL Server database into a blob value? If so, I'd appreciate a reply. Thanks.

I found your article after running into the same problem. I imagine you've dealt with this one way or another already but just in case...
The reason the LONG RAW gets truncated is explained in:

Basically, LONG RAW variables are limited to 32760 bytes inside PL/SQL. The ORA-00997 error is explained a little in:
http://www.dbaxchange.com/3_4_longdatatypes.htm
The only solution I found to work was to create a Java utility that read in each LONG RAW value (one at a time) and then update a record in a table's BLOB column. This was even a bit tricky. I found the gateway would lock up if I tried to do too much at a time. I kept it simple my reading all column IDs into an array and then looping through the array while executing a simple select statement that retrieved the LONG RAW value. I concatenated the id to the end of the select statement because prepared statements seemed to be one of the reasons the gateway locked up. I used a ByteArrayInputStream object to populate the BLOB in an update prepared statement for each LONG RAW value processed in the loop.

Retrieving image

Hi, I have table with 5 columns . One is the primary key , and the rest 4 are used for storing the image. I put the rest 4 columns as BLOB . and when I retrieve, I cant retrieve the image. Is there anyway, I can store and retrieve 4 images per ID ( the primary key ).

Sorry, I got busy working on something else. Anyway I recently worked with a form that had a blob column in the database. In the form the field that holds the blob column has a item type of 'Image' and is defined as a database item. When the form is queried the image is retrieved into that field.
To get the image into the database there was code to upload it:

Retrieving old column values from a after delete trigger dynamically

I have a single audit table for deletions
and the table structure has the following columns
1: table_name
2: column_name
3: column_value
I am writing a trigger on tables for which i want to have delete audits and i am dynamicaly
retrieving the column names but i am unable to retrieve the column value dynamically;
I tried to use the following statement but doesn't return the column value
sql_stmt:= 'select :1 from dual';
execute immediate sql_stmt into col_value using
':old.'| |v_col_name;
where v_col_name is the name of the column which i retrieve dynamically using the
dbms_sql.describe_columns procedure.
Is their any way if i can retrieve the old column values in the trigger dynamically if i already
have the column names in variables..

I don't know if Kevin's tip Help Mr. Sameer, but it did help me gain access to pre-deleted row column values.
I did discover, however, that if the columns from the about-to-be-deleted row are used as inserts into another table, Oracle serves up a nasty-gram informing the user that values from the about-to-be-deleted table are unreliable.
I was able to circumvent this constraint by assigning the about-to-be-deleted column values to local PL/SQL varables, then perform the insert using the variable values.

Hi Mark,
First of all, define an object named iterator in page attributes type ref to iterator_class_name
i.e
iterator TYPE REF TO ZCL_ITERATOR(or iterator_class_name)
Then in onInitialization use
create object iterator.
Also you can use any name of the iterator object...but the name application is reserved for the application class....
So your tableView code will be
 <htmlb:tableView id = "tableview_scarr"
 table = "<%= pa_tab_scarr %>"
 headerText = "Table SCARR"
 headerVisible = "TRUE"
 iterator = "<%= iterator %>" >
Rest all is fine...!!

Image column in an interactive report (APEX 4.0)

Hi,
I have added a new blob column containing images to an interactive report, but get the following error:-
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character to number conversion error
If the "IMAGE" column is removed from the report using the "actions:select column" control, the report is ok.
The column contains the following settings in the "BLOB Download Format Mask":-
IMAGE:WINEDETAILS:IMAGE:WINE_ID::MIMETYPE:FILENAME:::inline:Download
Have I missed something?

i additionally have a "name" and "description" columns which i need to display along with the picture as columns in a report (preferably interactive).
i have also modified the BLOB display format as per

what i am missing is the correct query. if possible, i would like to control the size of the picture rendered within the report like say 40*50.

in my query.
The above also makes the report column as of type "number". is this expected?

Custom search help with F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST to retrieve 2 columns

For achieving this follow the following 4 steps:
1. While calling F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST pass the importing paramter return_tab to make the data selected by the user IN SELECTION screen. Remember that without this the user entry is avaliable only at START OF SELECTION.
2. Use this value to READ TABLE your internal table to get the value of other column.
3. Load an internal table with values you want to assign to selection screen fields.
4. Assign values to the field in selection field using Fn Module: 'DYNP_VALUES_UPDATE'.

How to retrieve image from a document

Hi
I am a beginner to Adobe InDesign SDK (CS4) and was needing some help. Here is the sceneario
I have a simple InDesign document with an image in it. I am trying to retrieve the image and do some proprietory actions on it.
I am wondering if there is an InDesign API which can retrieve image on a document. What is the return value from such an API. (e.g does the API return a pointer to the image object or maybe location of the image on the filesystem ? ). What I am trying to do is once I can get a "handle" to the returned image, I would like to manipulate it and save it in a proprietory format.
Any pointers on this would be highly appreciated

You can get the path of the linked image file and then you can manipulate this image.
I think ILinkUtils and ILink will certainly help.

Retrieving images for a java game

i am currently trying to make a game whereby i have to retrieve images from a file and display it to the screen. I am able to do this using applets but the game i am implementing does not use applets - it only makes use of awt and swing components. any advice given would be gretly appreciated as i have been trying to do this for days now!

and the
Image image = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getImage("blah.gif" );
I was wondering could it be something to do with XP or the java compiler im using?im using Forte for Java v3.The code complies fine but when i run it nothing appears!

WebRowSet With Image Columns (or text)

I tried posting this in the general Java programming and got no response.
We have a requirement to pass part (whole rows) from a table in one DB to the same DB schema on a different machine via web services.
We thought we could use WebRowSet to pull the data out and pack it into an XML file, send, and re-synch the data in the other DB.
Every time we call the writeXml() for the WebRowSet a null pointer exception is being thrown. I changed the output object from a file to System.out to see where (what column) it is having problems and it seems to have problems on an image column.
What is needed so the image fields are placed into the file?

in my GUI i have a button called Insert. but can't update my database table unless i create textField(e.g Firstname, Surname..ect..), so that when I click Insert button in actionEvent it will bring up popup which have field name in which i am going to insert new records.
so what iam trying to say is, how iam going to tell the actionEvent to trigger this.

Retrieving images in lightroom

I cannot seem to retrieve images from the Library mode. I refer to images that have previously been downloaded and most ranked, tweaked, etc. The message I get is that there is no picture. When I try then to retrieve from the original source, the message is that the photos have already been imported. Darned if I can find them.
I am currently finding the TIF at the original source, re-naming it slightly and then I can import it -- only to lose it again. A real pain!
Something I am doing is not right. Tell me.

Check if you have a Filter applied. Then un-apply it
