Retropay by element....Right or Wrong

Dear All
Need some guidance and confirmation on retro pay steps
I have tried to run retro pay.
I followed setting up Retro Pay notifications Report document first as it was given in user guide. After that i setup retro pay by element.
here are the steps.
1. I introduced and employee on 1 jan 2009 and gave him cola allowance (Rs 100) with rest of the allowances and salary.
2. I run payroll for Jan 2009.
3. I run payroll for Feb 2009.
4. In March i decided to change the amount of Cola allowance from Rs. 100 to 200. so started to setup retropay.
5. I created an element for cola_allow_arrears.
6. I linked the element with employee to whom i require to give arrears.
7. I created balance for this element name MJ_cola_arrears_balance with its dimension and Feed. (Add).
8. I defined Retropay Set.
9. I defined Assignment set including employee who is being given the arrears.
10. I date tracked from Mar to 01-jan-2009 and change Cola allowance value from Rs. 100 to 200 in element entry form of that employee and saved the record.
11. I run Retropay request with date parameters stared from 01-jan-2009 to 31-mar-2009. and request run successfully.
12. I tried to look out put but it did not give any out put to me
13. I looked Log file and showed successfull request and counts.
14. Now I run the payroll for the month of March. It run the payroll successfully but did not show any arrears as i did not selected arrears element of Cola allowance.
First are my steps correct..?
How and where can we confirm the changes of arrears..?
Hope to here reply soon
Regards
Majid

I have checked the Income tax balance that adds up the earnings elements in the feeds now in that i came to see the Earnings called COLA that shows the equivalent figure. But this Earning was only eligible up to June 09 and the retro has ran for Jan 09 to June which means in July09 there should be no COLA allowance...i am a bit confused.
Please help.

    you can delete the retro assignment action for the moment, so you can launch the run for all employees.
    As such, you have some more time to debug the issue.
    I would activate some payroll tracing, so you know which fast formula throws this error. And then you should dig further, so you can identify the sql retruning multiple rows.
    Or you do a sql*trace. That one will also point you to the offensive sql.

    "One of your retro element types will have a post termination rule of Actuel Termination, or Last Standard Process. But this should be Final Close, since retro wants to create an entry after the termination date."
    Is it possible that it is the other way round that is may be the monthly earnings or deductions elements are defined as final close?
    please help!

  • Details report for the retropay by element process

    I have ran retropay by element and i would like to create a detail report that will show me all the entries for a specific retropay element.
    For example i have Basic salary and the retro element for this is Basic Salary Arrears
    When the retropay by element process runs from 01-jan-2010 to 01-jun-2010, I am getting 5 Basic Salary Arrears elements attached to the employee on the element entries window and when i click on the Entry values button i can see Pay Value for each Basic Salary Arrears element the difference is only on the Original Date Earned.
    It appears as follows:
    Basic Salary Arrears
    Pay Value= 142.95
    Original Date Earned=31-JAN-2010
    Basic Salary Arrears
    Pay Value= 142.95
    Original Date Earned=28-FEB-2010
    Basic Salary Arrears
    Pay Value= 142.95
    Original Date Earned=31-MAR-2010
    Basic Salary Arrears
    Pay Value= 142.95
    Original Date Earned=30-APR-2010
    Basic Salary Arrears
    Pay Value= 142.95
    Original Date Earned=31-MAY-2010
    Now i want to create a detail report for all these elements based on the Original Date Earned so that i am able to know for how many months of Basic Salary Arrears has been paid to all staff.
    Please help me!

    When i go and view the message in View >Payroll Process Results window. I can see the following error:
    The element RETRO_OVERTIME65 being retropaid must have a link effective at the date of the RetroPay (Assignment Number 8842)
    Please note RETRO_OVERTIME65 is a Non-reccuring element and i have included it while defining my Element Set.
    But this element is not attached in the pay period that i am trying to process my retropay by element run so does that mean that it will throw the following error due to this ?
    The element RETRO_OVERTIME65 being retropaid must have a link effective at the date of the RetroPay (Assignment Number 8842)
    Appreciate all your assistance/advice.

  • Seems simple enough right? Wrong!

    Okay hopefully someone on here can help me. I am using Illustrator CS5 and I am working on a document. I'm trying to put a logo on top of another item created by the pen tool. seems simple enough right? Wrong, the software will not let me use object>arrange>bring to front or Cmd ] and cmd [ is there something that i'm doing wrong? I've redrawn the shape and it still won't let me, I've brought in the logo again, it won't let me, i've done a host of other things and it still won't let me put that stupid logo on top of the cloud (what i drew with the pen tool)
    Thanks!

    Not sure what you mean. Why is there more than one layer?
    It could be that you intentionally created additional layers. It could be that you unintentionally created additional layers. It could be that you hit Cmd L some day. It could be that you pasted objects while Paste Remembers Layers was turned on. Or something else.

  • HT201269 Is there a right, and wrong way to plug the lightning connector into the phone?

    The lightning connector dosen't want to plug into the slot and I don't want to force it, ... is there a right and wrong way to do this bisic and simple step?  Thanks

    No, it is a reversible plug. Either way is fine.
    Just make sure you plug it in straight until it "clicks" into place. It may take a bit of force if new, but check there's nothing in the port first.

  • Creating a test in PDF: Is it possible to create Right and Wrong answer fields in PDF?

    Very new to this.  I may be way off, but Im trying to create a test for some students to do in class.  Is it possible to create fields that turn green when right and red when wrong?  Also can you have a field that accumulates the right answers to give a score?

    Sure you can, with a bit of JavaScript. What sort of fields will you be using and what part of the field do you want to be green or red?

  • Is this right or wrong?

    Here is an excerpt from API doc for the interface, java.util.Comparator,
    Caution should be exercised when using a comparator capable of imposing an ordering inconsistent with equals to order a sorted set (or sorted map). Suppose a sorted set (or sorted map) with an explicit Comparator c is used with elements (or keys) drawn from a set S. If the ordering imposed by c on S is inconsistent with equals, the sorted set (or sorted map) will behave "strangely." In particular the sorted set (or sorted map) will violate the general contract for set (or map), which is defined in terms of equals.
    For example, if one adds two keys a and b such that (a.equals((Object)b) && c.compare((Object)a, (Object)b) != 0) to a sorted set with comparator c, the second add operation will return false (and the size of the sorted set will not increase) because a and b are equivalent from the sorted set's perspective.
    Is it right? Will the second add operation fail?
    In my opinion, the sorted set performs ordering in terms of compare/compareTo method, while a set decides whether to accept or refuse a new element by equals method. If this is the case, then under the situation described in the API doc, a and b are NOT equivalent from the sorted set's prespective, thus a and b can both be added successfully. And only if this happened, we could say[i] total ordering inconsistent with equals could work well for sorted set, but breaks the general contract for the set.
    I'm totally confused.

    I think the API comment you mention got it backwards. Did you whip up an example
    to test this yourself?
    import java.util.*;
    public class Example {
        public int compare; //used to define comparator
        public int equal;   //used to define equals
        public Example(int compare, int equal) {
            this.compare = compare;
            this.equal = equal;
        public boolean equals(Object o) {
            if (!(o instanceof Example))
                return false;
            return equal == ((Example)o).equal;
        public String toString() {
            return "(compare=" + compare + ", equal=" + equal + ")";
        public static class C implements Comparator {
            public int compare(Object o1, Object o2) {
                return ((Example)o1).compare - ((Example)o2).compare;
        public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
            C c = new C();
            Set s = new TreeSet(c);
            Example a = new Example(0, 0);
            Example b = new Example(1, 0);
            System.out.println("a.equals(b) = " + a.equals(b));
            System.out.println("c.compare(a,b) = " + c.compare(a,b));
            s.add(a);
            System.out.println("after adding a, s =" + s);
            s.add(b);
            System.out.println("after adding b, s =" + s);
    }

  • Right thumbnail, wrong images

    I'm using iMovie 11 (9.0.2) on a 2010 MBP with 500GB of hard drive and 8GB RAM.
    I sat down this weekend to put together a video for a friend - ten minutes of scanned stills and ripped-from-DVD videos with a separate narration track.
    I did it in 10 separate sequences - each sequence its own project - and they all worked fine. Then I created a new project into which I was going to put together all ten sequences.
    I got five of them in just fine, but when I put in the sixth one, I started getting anomalies. A thumbnail for a picture of one person now contained pieces of stills of other people I'd already put in. (In other words, a few stills from the first minute of the project now showed up in minute six under the thumbnail of the still that was supposed to go there).
    It was weird. I tried it agin. Dragged the correct still into place ... saw the right thumbnail ... but when I played it, I saw images that I'd already cut in earlier. I had no problem with any of the video segments I'd inserted ... only a few jpegs.
    I tried deleting and re-inserting ... same problem. I tried creating a new project and just starting with minute six, and got the same problem. I closed and re-opened iMovie - same problem. I re-botted. Same problem. It seems like I hit iMovie's limit for ... I don't know ... something.
    Since I needed to get this done, I just created QuickTime movies of each sequence, and married them all together in Final Cut Express, which worked fine. But I'd love to know if there's some way I could have finished this project in iMovie.
    Has anyone seen this anomaly - the thumbnail is right but when you play the sequence the images are totally wrong?
    Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer ...

    I had the same issue today. The thumbnail footage appears correct, but I can't play it to preview it. If I select a portion and put it in a project, I can play, but I can't play it in the preview/event library section. Very strange.
    Anyone have a fix idea?

    Hi!

    I want elements of JTextField and JComboBox(text in my case) to appear from right to left. What can I do?

    What I mean is when you see Jlist, all the elements in it begin from the right(like in Arabic/Hebrew). Do you know how to do this?
