Return all data without selecting any value in query filter

Hi,
I created a document with query filters(prompt, LOV). But sometimes users don't want to select any value and just want to return all data in the report.
I can't find a way to achieve this. Does anyone know how to implement this ?
Thanks.

Hi,
you can modify the "select" statement for your LOV and add an additionaly keyword like "ALL" in your list of values. Then you can modify your where-clause to handle the "ALL" keyword.
E.g. (<your condition>=@prompt(....) or 'ALL'=@prompt(......) )

  • All Dates displayed for "Characteristic Values" in Query Designer

    Hello Experts,
    We are on BI 7.0, level 13.  I am having an issue within the Query Designer with regards to dates.  I have a write-optimized DSO that contains 3 date fields (for example, ZDATE1, ZDATE2, and ZDATE3).  Each date InfoObject is of type DATS so the system automatically creates it with reference to 0DATE.
    When I create a query in the Query Designer, on the left hand side, I expand the "Characteristic Values" node under each date field.  The Query Designer shows the same list of values for each of the 3 dates even though they are not valid values posted in the DSO for those fields.
    For example, ZDATE1 only has 1 value posted in the DSO (01/01/2005).
    ZDATE2 only has 1 value posted in the DSO (01/01/2006).
    ZDATE3 only has 1 value posted in the DSO (01/01/2007).
    Bute when I expand the "Characteristic Values" node in the Query Designer, I see ALL THREE values under each date field.  I would expect to only see the 1 value posted for the InfoObject in the DSO.  Also note that each InfoObject is defined to show "Only posted values in InfoProvider".
    It appears that Query Designer will show all values for the reference InfoObject 0DATE instead of the ones posted to the actual InfoObject in the DSO.  If I delete the data in the DSO, the Characteristic Values list still remains because they exist in 0DATE.  Anyone encounter this before?  How can I get the Characteristic Values list to only show posted values for that InfObject?
    Thanks for your help!
    J

    Thanks for the response.  I went into the DSO and right clicked on each of the Date fields.  I looked at the Provider-specific properties and there is the option for "Query Exec.FilterVal" which only restricts what values appear when restricting during execution, not during query creation.
    Is there someplace else I should look or someplace else I can make change to only display posted dates when creating a query?  Thanks!

    Hi,
    use cp or like in the select query
    and more over any thing given in single quotes must be in upper case to my knowledge in ABAP.
    any how try this
    select * from dbtab where name like '%JoHn%'.
    if doesnt work translate it to upper case.
    hope this this would solve.

  • Can I delete all of the images in "All Images" without losing any originals?

    Can I delete all of the images in "All Images" without losing any original photos? Thank you.

    Simply: iPhoto is a database. Like all databases it requires that you manipulat the data via the tools provided and not through backdoors. If you delete matter managed by iPhoto (or for that matter, any database) through some other means then the database will be unaware of the deletions. The database will not reflect the changes and you'll have significant issues going forward with iPhoto.
    So, to be really, really clear: if you delete Photos managed by iPhoto via the All Images search you will corrupt your Library.
    It's your computer, your images and your iPhoto. You have the information, you decide how to use it.

  • Select any value with CTRL + mouse click

    Hi all,
    since ERP 6.0 and SAP GUI 6.40 I am used to be able to select any value in any input or display field (e.g. the name of a field of a table in transaction SE11) via holding down the CTRL key while clicking onto the desired value/field once. Then the whole value/string is selected.
    Now I am working on a freshly installed system but I can't find this setting anywhere. It does work to select a word within the ABAP source code editor, but not for any other, "normal" input fields.
    Any ideas where I can set this?
    Kind regards, Matthias

    Have a look at the last button on the right of the application toolbar. Button looks like monitor with test screen. Click it and use options.

  • How to call a method defined in AM when I select any value in LOV

    Lets say there is a LOV. The scenario is as soon as I select any value in LOV, a method needs to be called which I have written in the AM. And the output of the method is displayed in a output text box.
    I am not able to understand how to call a method when the user selects any value in LOV.
    This is wht I did. I had created the binding for the method. Changed the autosubmit property of the LOV to True, and in the properties of the output box, in the partial submit trigger property, passed the ID of the LOV. But I didnt get any place where I need to call the method. I am also not able to drop an action listener on the LOV

    Hi,
    +"its showing an error(underlined in orange)."+
    Any reason you don't share this error with us? Anyway, here is how it goes
    1. LOV, set autosubmit="true" and configure a value change listener
    2. Expose the AM method as a method binding in the PageDef file
    3. In the value change listener:
    BindingContext bctx = BindingContxt().getCurrent();
    BindingContainer bindings = bctx.getCurrentBindingsEntry();
    OperationBinding method = (OperationBinding) bindings.get("name of method binding in PageDef");
    method.getParamsMap().put("argument name1", value1);
    method.getParamsMap().put("argument name2", value2);
    Object retVal = method.execute();
    if(!method.getErrors().isEmpty()){
      //handle errors
    else{
      //write retVal to the managed bean variable that is referenced by the outputText value property
      //PPR output text component
      ADFFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(outputTextRef);
    }Note that you may have to set clientComponent = "true" on the output text component

  • I have SSRS parametarized report in that one data set have repeated values with query parameter . but while am mapping that query parameter to report parameter i need to pass distinct values. How can i resolve this

    I have SSRS parametarized report in that one data set have repeated values with query parameter . but while am mapping that query
    parameter to report parameter i need to pass distinct values. How can i resolve this

    Hi nancharaiah,
    If I understand correctly, you want to pass distinct values to report parameter. In Reporting Service, there are only three methods for parameter's Available Values:
    None
    Specify values
    Get values from a query
    If we utilize the third option that get values from a dataset query, then the all available values are from the returns of the dataset. So if we want to pass distinct values from a dataset, we need to make the dataset returns distinct values. The following
    sample is for your reference:
    Select distinct field_name  from table_name
    If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

  • Possible to hit enter on table cell & retrieve data without selecting line?

    Hi All,
    We're using ECC6.  I  I have a situation where the user wants to be able to hit a cell in a table which will then fire a report and pass the contents of that cell to the report.
    So far I have been only able to get this working when the row is highlighted, I can easily pick up the values from the lead selection.  But the user does not want to have to highlight a row every time to run the report.  The user just wants to hit return a cell and for the report to be updated with the value in that cell.
    So, I'm just wondering if it is possible to hit enter in any table cell and retrive the data without highlighting the row?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Liz.

    Hi,
    You want complete row data or perticular cell data??
    Basic q's, without selecting a row how can we get data? without selecting means you get complete data on table,
    In that case which data you have to pass to report?
    Or if you dont want to select data means, create one more field of type button. so in thins button action get that row data
    and call report from here itself.
    Cheers,
    Kris.

  • XMLDecoder not returning all data...

    I am connecting to a web service and viewing the response in the Network Monitor. It shows the appropriate collection of data objects - each contains 2 string variables (name, url) and 2 arrays all containing data. When I view the Result Event in the debugger the objects are there but only contain one string variable (name). The other string variable and both arrays are not there.  I was able to track this issue down to were I can see the SOAP response is not being decoded correctly in the decode() function of XMLDecoder.as. Is this a known issue? My result is pretty complicated with nested data. Is there any suggested solution/workaround? Thanks for your advice.

  • XL Reporter Parameter that returns all data if not used

    Is there a way to use a parameter on a field, but if the user doesn't select a value, return all rows? I have a report that returns a bunch of data about items. I would like one report where if the use chooses to narrow it down to a specific item they can, but if they choose not to narrow it down, it would return all items. I can only get it to do one or the other, but not both in one report.
    Thanks

    I have a parameter setup for the ItemCode and I tried to assign it * for its default value, but it returns nothing. If I enter a valid item code it works, but it seems as if I put an * in, it looks specifically for that rather than treating it like a wildcard. If I remove the parameter and put the *, it returns all. I want the parameter available, but if they don't want to use it I would like to return all records.

  • Which formula(a) do I use to select any value that is than 0 but 7 out of a range of cells and sum them.

    I'm working on a sheet that I want to use to select a specific part based on values created by the sum of values in other cells. I am down to the point where I need to select a low range of numbers
    If the sum of cell D5 equals any sum between 1-15 will equal = part 1
    If the sum of cell D5 equals any sum between 16-23 will equal = part 2 ,
    If the sum of cell D5 equal antsy sum between 24-32 will equal part 3.
    I'm at a loss how to make one formula or combination of formulas do this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Big Al Hur

    Hi Al,
    The confusion arises from your having asked two separate questions, one in the subject line, the other in the body of your initial post.
    1.
    How do I sum only the values greater than zero and less than 7 in a range of cells?
    This formula supplied by SGIII does what you have asked there:
    =SUMIFS(A,A,">0",A,"<7")
    The syntax is:
    SUMIFS(sum-values, test-values, condition, test-values, condition…)
    sum-values ( A ) is the range of cells containing the values to be summed (all the body cells in column A)
    test-values and condition come in pairs. the first names the range of values to be tested, the second names the condition that must be met.
    In this formula, the test-values in each pair are the same as the sum values.
    condition ( ">0" ) is the first condition that must be met by these values. (greater than zero)
    the second condition ( "<7" ) is the second condition that must be met (less than seven)
    To be included in the sum, a value in the list must meet both conditions: It must be greater than 0 AND less than 7. IN SG's example, there are two values that meet both conditions, 2 in A2 and 6 in A5, that meet both conditions. Their sum, 8, is shown in A10, whch is the cell containing the formula.
    2
    If the sum of cell D5 equals any sum between 1-15 will equal = part 1
    If the sum of cell D5 equals any sum between 16-23 will equal = part 2 ,
    If the sum of cell D5 equals any sum between 24-32 will equal part 3.
    This formula supplied by SGIII, and the Lookup table that goes with it, does what you have asked here.
    =VLOOKUP(D5,Lookup::A:B,2,close-match)
    Close-match means 'the largest value that is less than or equal to' the search-value.
    The search-value is the value in D5
    VLOOKUP searches in the leftmost column (A) of the lookup table (columns A and B of the table named Lookup).
    With "close-match" specified:
    any value that is equal to or greater than 0 and less than 16 will be matched by the 0 in A2. VLOOKUP will return the value in the same row of column 2 (B) of the table: "Part 1"
    any value that is equal to or greater than 16 and less than 24 will be matched by the 16 in A3. VLOOKUP will return the value in the same row of column 2 (B) of the table: "Part 2"
    any value that is equal to or greater than 24 will be matched by the 24 in A4. VLOOKUP will return the value in the same row of column 2 (B) of the table: "Part 3"
    While this is not an exact match with your description above, it will perform exactly as you requested IF the value in D5 is never less than 1 and never greater than 32.
    If the possible range is greater than that, I would suggest the changes shown below to the formula and to the lookup table. The column containing numbers is column D, and represents values in D5. Column E shows the result for each value using the given formula and lookup table (LU A). Column F shows results for the same values using the revised formula and lookup tble (LU B):
    Original                              =VLOOKUP(D,LU A :: A:B,2,1)
    Revised formula: =IFERROR(VLOOKUP(D,LU B :: A:B,2,1),"N//A")
    In the revision, IFERROR takes care of the negative values in D2 and D3. The zero value in D4 and in the last row of column D and the overflow values (greater than 32) are handled by the revisions to the lookup table.

    Barry

  • Return all instances of a string value

    I know that similar questions have been asked before but I am having a tough time getting things to work.
    I would like to search for all instances of a string value (shown red) and return the corresponding values in the adjacent cells (shown green) so that each room number is represented.  For example, I want the search for "Adequately" to return rooms 236 and 237 (and 237 just once even though it is listed twice).  Is this possible?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Clay

    Here's an example, similar in some ways to Yvan's, but taken a bit further.
    Data table (left) contains only the original data. I've shortened the ratings to allow an easier fit on this page.
    Summary table does the work in two stages.
    Pulls the room numbers for rooms matching each rating. (yellow portion of table. If desired, these rows may be hidden.
    Builds a list of these for each condition. (Footer row)
    Formulas (all on Summary)
    Row 1 is a header row, and contains the Rating labels, which must match those used on the Data table.
    B2:   =IF(AND(Data :: $E2=B$1,COUNTIFS(Data :: $E$2:$E2,B$1,Data :: $C$2:$C2,Data :: $C2,Data::$B$2:$B2,Data :: $B2)=1)," "&Data :: $B2&" "&Data :: $C2&" ","")
    Fill right to column F. Fill down to row 16 (as many rows as there are data rows on Data)
    Note the " " at the beginning and end of the 'if true' part: " "&Data :: $B2&" "&Data :: $C2&" "
    There is a single space between each pair of quotation marks. These are necessary to the second formula below.
    Row 17 is a Footer row.
    B17:
    =IF(COUNTA(B)-COUNTBLANK(B)=0,"",TRIM(SUBSTITUTE(CONCATENATE(B2,B3,B4,B5,B6,B7,B 8,B9,B10,B11,B12,B13,B14,B15,B16),"  ",",
    There is a return character in the formula immediately before the last quotation mark. Press option-return to enter a return into a formula.
    SUBSTITUTE finds the two spaces added between items in the list and replaces them with a comma followed by the return noted above.
    TRIM is used to remove the single space before the first item in the list and the single space after the last.

  • Report does not return all data in SSRS

    Hello All
    I have been developing a report in SSRS, and i have a few filters applied to it. The only thing that i have in the Query that brings everything to my main dataset is the Date filter. @startDate, @endDate.
    When i run the query in Management Studio, i get 420 rows for october(1st - 31st), but when i do the same in the report preview(With the same query), i get only 27 rows.
    All my parameters have a dataset, and i'm using "IN" instead of "=", they also are configured to have multiple values.
    When i test it, i make sure i select all the values available.
    What do you guys think might be the issue here???
    Thanks in advance!

    Can you post how your filter statement looks like for handling multiple date values in query?
