Revert to default 3.0 type versions

I'm having some type version conflict issues and hoping someone can let me know what the best way is to revert everything in the TestStand type palette back to default for TestStand 3.0.  (The version of each type that I'm supposed to have appears to be 3.0.0.12373, but many of the versions somehow have been incremented to 3.0.0.12374.)
I'm not really sure how this happened, but I'm more concerned with how to get everything back to default in the type palette as well as in all of my sequences.  I managed to get some of the type versions back to the right version in the type palette by performing the following steps:
1) Change the affected types in the global type palette to "Always prompt the user to resolve conflict"
2) Open up a sequence with the correct versions of the types.
3) Tell TestStand to use the sequence file's version of the type.
4) Save all the type palette ini files.
One problem with this is that as soon as I open another sequence file that has version 3.0.0.12374 of any of the types, TestStand immediately replaces the newly repaired global type palette.  Also, when going through the above resolution procedure, I noticed that I have some version 3.0.0.12373 copies of type definitions that have a time-stamp of todays date!  So even if I do manage to get all the sequence files repaired, I have no idea if I've managed to modify a type and save it as version 3.0.0.12373...
I'm beginning to wonder if I should just re-install TestStand, but I can't shake the feeling that there's probably a better way to do this.  (There certainly should be.)  Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, -Rob

Rob,
Unwanted Type Propogation can be nasty to clean up.  Since the Type Differ tool only works for versions 3.1 and higher,  you will have to do something a little more crude to solve the issue.
The first step is to make sure your Type Palettes are clean.  It sounds like you have done this.  Once you have done this, one way to prevent accidental type propogation is to make the files Read Only.  This will make it more difficult to "infect" these files, since you can't overwrite them.  There are also some other files that are loaded automatically, such as the FrontEndCallbacks sequence, and your Process Model.  Make sure all of these files are clean.  If you can start TestStand, and observe all the types are at the proper value, you probably have done this correctly.
The next step is to find the source of the problem.  If you are ever prompted to save your Type Palette files, this usually means that you have opened a file that has a newer version of the Type than you want.  If you know which file(s) you opened, this will help you track down the source of the problem.  One trick that you can do is to change the version of the incorrect type to 0.  Save the sequence file causing the problem, but not the type palettes or Process Model.  If you shut down TestStand, then start it back up, the correct version of the Type should be loaded in your sequence file.  Save the file again.
If you know that a particular version number is incorrect, you can always search in files for the text (for example, if you know you have version 3.0.0.12374 somewhere, search for that text in Windows Explorer).  It should give you a list of any file that uses that type.  This will help you narrow it down.  I still recommend you revert any changes by going through the Sequence Editor, rather than manually editing the files in a text editor.
For others that run into this issue, the Type Differ, located in NI Labs at http://www.ni.com/labs under the TestStand Large Application Toolkit, will help solve these issues.  In the future we are looking at other solutions to solve unwanted type propogation as well.

    Hi All,
How to change the default IDOC basic type from CREMAS05 to CREMAS04 when sending Vendor Master Data.
When I generate partner profile, the system will add the latest version of IDOC type which is CREMAS05 to the Outbound message. In my project, I'm asked to use CREMAS04.

  • Numbers reverted a spreadsheet to an old version

I have a fairly large and complex spreadsheet on numbers. For some dumb reason, it defaults to saving my files on iCloud, which, of course, means you don't have much control over it.
Numbers generally stays open on my computer, because I use this large spreadsheet for modeling business pro-formas. I generally save it after every time I update, but sometimes I forget.
I created Version 7 of my spreadsheet on 6 June 2014. Saved it to iCloud and to my desktop. However, any changes I made since 6 June are saved to the cloud.
Today, when I went to my spreadsheet, it was mysteriously reverted back to the 6 June version, losing nearly 3 weeks of data, formulas, etc. So I try to open up the file from iCloud, and there is my spreadsheet's exact name, but there's a folder and in it are jpeg files, and other unreadable files. I can't open it with Numbers. Can't do anything.
So, I go to Time Machine. Well, of course Time Machine doesn't store iCloud stuff, so I can't find any of the changed files for 3 weeks.
This is ridiculous on so many levels. What corrupted my files on iCloud so that I cannot use them? Maybe I can, and someone just needs to explain it to me. And why can't I have a time machine of iCloud? Cause, I need to go back and get this file.
So, 3 weeks of work down the drain. Can't find anything. And I get paid a ridiculous amount per hour to do this. But that's down the toilet.
Any suggestions? Maybe go back to Microsoft, who despite Excel's annoyances, I know when I save a file there it doesn't go missing.
This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever gone through with Apple.

    Hi Csound1,
I use other cloud services too, and some are better than iCloud for some purposes.  But name one,  just one, that is more seamless than iCloud in syncing Numbers documents between Numbers on the Mac and Numbers for iOS, not to mention sharing and accessing Numbers documents in a browser via Numbers for iCloud.  And beware of the mess other cloud services such as SugarSync sometimes make of the new Numbers 3 document format. The new format, with its protocol buffers and things, works really well in syncing via iCloud.  In my experience it truly is seamless.  And when trouble occasionally strikes, as can happen with any setup, there's Time Machine!
OrangeMarlin, I'm glad you found a solution to your problem and got your work back.  Thanks for the green tick!
    SG
I don't know about most of Mac buyers, but I know I am locked into the Apple ecosystem for one reason: it's seamless, easy-to-use, and I don't have to worry about stuff. My major disaster went from major to nearly insignificant mainly because Apple does allow me to easily back up everything without stress. I use my Time Machine to recover stuff maybe once or twice a year, but I'm glad it's there.
There might be some advantages to other cloud systems, but they get increasingly more complex. I used to use Amazon's cloud, but it takes a rocket scientist to use it. I am a scientist, but not with rockets.
Dropbox, the popular one for a lot of people, requires apps, it isn't seamless, and I trust them less than Apple.
I'm just not in favor of making my computer experience more complicated. If I wanted that, I'd switch to Windows, or become a LINUX geek. I want my computer to simply work, and allow me to make money. My iMac does that. iCloud does that. etc. etc.
Still not sure if I'm a fan of my iPad, even after 3 years of different models. But that's another conversation.

  • How to change default Export Format Type in Crystal Report Viewer

We are coding in VB.NET 2005 using the CR2008 SP1 .NET objects.
The Crystal Report Viewer, when displayed, defaults the export type as .rpt (Crystal Reports).
We distribute our .NET application to our customers.  99% of the time, this .rpt format is useless to our customers as they do not have crystal reports developer.  They usually export to a .pdf or .xls format.  Is there a way to default this export option to something other than .rpt?
    Thank you.

Yes, that's as much as I figured.
With the Crystal for .NET methods, the CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine's reportdocument object has an ExportToDisk method.  We wanted to use this (as we used something similar with the RDC) to prompt the user to export.  However, the reportdocument's exporttodisk method does not have an argument that allows for Prompting the user (true/false) like the RDC's export did.  You have to actually know ahead of time the type of export the user wants as well as the filename.  Well, we do not, and therefore, want the user to be able to select the type of export they want as well as enter their own filename.  We want the Crystal methods to prompt for this.  Since we are unable to, we've had to resort to declaring a reportviewer object and setting the viewer's reportsource = to the reportdocument.  We then use the ExportReport() method which defaults to .rpt (which none of our end users have Crystal Developer).  This is why we want to know if there is a way to reset the default export method to something more common (such as .pdf or .xls).  Is there a way to change the reportdocument's file type in order to default the export type?  Just trying to come up with some sort of workaround...
    Thanks

  • Exporting to MS Excel - default "save as" type

We have written code in our application that exports the
results of the in MS Excel format and everything works fine except
for one minor thing using IE. When the user is prompted, they can
either "open" or "save". If they choose "save", it saves it fine as
a MS Excel file type. However, if they choose "open" (which does
open perfectly fine in Excel), but then they later choose the "Save
As" option from MS Excel's menu, the default "Save As" type now
becomes "Web Page (*.htm; *.html). It actually saves fine as an
Excel document, but our customers are concerned about it because
this is going to be a public application and they are worried that
it might confuse the end-users. So what I'm really asking is if
there's a way to programmatically control the default "Save As"

  • Default Exchange Rate Type

    Dear All,
If we do not assign any exchange rate type to any document type or customer / vendor master data, the system picks the default 'M' exchange rate type. Can anyone let me know where this default setting has been made and whether this setting can be changed? What if I do not maintain exchange rates for 'M' instead I do it for 'M1'
I have a scenario, wherein I want to make exchange rate type other than 'M' as default and we do not want to make it at the document type level or customer / vendor master data level.
To make things more clear, this is not related to the realignment / foreign currency valuation. This is related to recording of invoice export / import or credit / debit notes..
Can anyone let me know how would this be possible?
    Full points guaranted

    Hi Swapvik,
The exchange rate type always is set "M" as default. The only way to
change the exchange rate type is with the customizing in the document type. If you are running the automatic payment program, you can also select a different exchange rate type. However, for normal document postings (trans. FB01), there is no other solution but to choose a different document type.
    For example:
If you want to use exchange rate type B instead of M, in customizing you have to give Alt Ex.Type as B against M. So that it will take B rate whenever M is applicable. If you want this B rate to be applicable for specific document types then you can do  the same at document type definition itself. Otherwise you can do the same At Payment program level/ Revaluation. These are the only places where exch.type comes into picture.
Please be advised that you can not change the default exchange rate type
for the 1st local currency. The default type for 1st local currency KURST of M cannot be changed. SAP does not allow for customers to setup a company code with an exchenage rate type other than M for the 1st local currency (because this could lead to exchange rate differences in the system which are not allowed).
Exchange rates are defined in SAP at a Global level via transaction OB08. In the IMG documentation for transaction OB08 (path General Settings > Currencies > Enter exchange rates) it explains that:
'The exchange rates apply to all company codes'
'The system uses the type M exchange rates for foreign currency
translation when posting and clearing documents. An entry must exist in
the system for this exchange rate type. The exchange rates apply to ALL
    Company Codes.'
    Hope this information helps.

  • Default Exchange rate type at document type level for parallel currencies

    Hi,
I have a scenario wherein 2 parallel currencies have been maintained (Grp & index based) against a Co Code and have maintained a default exchange type (Z2) in the Document type settings (OBA7).
But when I want to post a foreign currency document, system picks Z2 rates for Co Code currency conversion and not for Grp & index based. In fact it picks M rate for these addtional currencies.
I know that for parallel currencies, the system will always use the exchange rate type defined in transaction OB22 ( "M" rate) which is at Co Code level but I want default exchange rate type Z2 to be picked at Document Type level for all the parallel currencies.
Please suggest how to archive this.
    Thanks,
    Sam

    Dear Sam,
The exchange rate type defined in the FI document type (-> field
exchange rate type in transaction OBA7) is only used for the currency
translation from transaction/document currency into first local
currency, not for the currency translation into second local (group)
currency or for the currency translation into third local currency.
The exchange rate types for the currency translation into second
local (group) currency and third local currency are defined in
    transaction OB22.
Unfortunately there is no option to change the exchange rate of 2nd or
3rd local currency in our posting transactions. The design doesn't
regard that requirement. But you have the chance to adjust the parallel
currencies in OB22 or to change the amounts manually.
    I hope this helps.

  • Exporting data clusters with type version

    Hi all,
let's assume we are saving some ABAP data as a cluster to database using the IMPORT TO ... functionality, e.g.
EXPORT VBAK FROM LS_VBAK VBAP FROM LT_VBAP  TO DATABASE INDX(QT) ID 'TEST'
Some days later, the data can be imported
IMPORT VBAK TO LS_VBAK VBAP TO LT_VBAP FROM DATABASE INDX(QT) ID 'TEST'.
Some months or years later, however, the IMPORT may crash: Since it is the most normal thing in the world that ABAP types are extended, some new fields may have been added to the structures VBAP or VBAK in the meantime.
The data are not lost, however: Using method CL_ABAP_EXPIMP_UTILITIES=>DBUF_IMPORT_CREATE_DATA, they can be recovered from an XSTRING. This will create data objects apt to the content of the buffer. But the component names are lost - they get auto-generated names like COMP00001, COMP00002 etc., replacing the original names MANDT, VBELN, etc.
So a natural question is how to save the type info ( = metadata) for the extracted data together with the data themselves:
EXPORT TYPES FROM LT_TYPES VBAK FROM LS_VBAK VBAP FROM LT_VBAP TO DATABASE INDX(QT) ID 'TEST'.
The table LT_TYPES should contain the meta type info for all exported data. For structures, this could be a DDFIELDS-like table containing the component information. For tables, additionally the table kind, key uniqueness and key components should be saved.
Actually, LT_TYPES should contain persistent versions of CL_ABAP_STRUCTDESCR, CL_ABAP_TABLEDESCR, etc. But it seems there is no serialization provided for the RTTI type info classes.
(In an optimized version, the type info could be stored in a separate cluster, and being referenced by a version number only in the data cluster, for efficiency).
In the import step, the LT_TYPES could be imported first, and then instances for these historical data types could be created as containers for the real data import (here, I am inventing a class zcl_abap_expimp_utilities):
IMPORT TYPES TO LT_TYPES FROM DATABASE INDX(QT) ID 'TEST'.
    DATA(LO_TYPES) = ZCL_ABAP_EXPIMP_UITLITIES=>CREATE_TYPE_INFOS ( LT_TYPES ).
    assign lo_types->data_object('VBAK')->* to <LS_VBAK>.
    assign lo_types->data_object('VBAP')->* to <LT_VBAP>.
IMPORT VBAK TO <LS_VBAK> VBAP TO <LT_VBAP> FROM DATABASE INDX(QT) ID 'TEST'.
Now the data can be recovered with their historical types (i.e. the types they had when the export statement was performed) and processed further.
For example, structures and table-lines could be mixed into the current versions using MOVE-CORRESPONDING, and so on.
My question: Is there any support from the standard for this functionality: Exporting data clusters with type version?
    Regards,
    Rüdiger

The IMPORT statement works fine if target internal table has all fields of source internal table, plus some additional fields at the end, something like append structure of vbak.
    Here is the snippet used.
    TYPES:
    BEGIN OF ty,
      a TYPE i,
    END OF ty,
    BEGIN OF ty2.
            INCLUDE TYPE ty.
    TYPES:
      b TYPE i,
    END OF ty2.
DATA: lt1 TYPE TABLE OF ty,
          ls TYPE ty,
          lt2 TYPE TABLE OF ty2.
    ls-a = 2. APPEND ls TO lt1.
    ls-a = 4. APPEND ls TO lt1.
EXPORT table = lt1 TO MEMORY ID 'ZTEST'.
IMPORT table = lt2 FROM MEMORY ID 'ZTEST'.
I guess IMPORT statement would behave fine if current VBAK has more fields than older VBAK.

Where do I set the default Sales Order type for transaction VA01. trying to avoid employees choosing the wrong order type.
    Thank you.

You can setup user parameter for parameter AAT
Use transaction SU3 for every user
    Goto tab Parameters
    Add a line
        Parameter_ID: AAT
        Parameter value:  Your order type
    Save user profile
Please note that this solution will not prevent user to change the value of field order type during VA01. However he will always get this as default value. You should do this for every user you need to have default value.
