Rewriting "Save to" add meta data tag at time of save

What I am trying to achieve is this,
When I save a file at the moment I select Save As using the shortcut keys.
However I want to automatically add some meta data to the file every time. So I would write a simple action within photoshop.
So File info
then Description Tag
Author (me) and maybe Author title (photographer)
Then the next part of the script would be in invoke the "Save as" Command, BUT ITS IMPORTANT TO NOTE I DON'T WANT IT TO AUTOMATICALLY SAVE. it needs to jst put the prompt on the screen so that filename type etc can be filled in manually.
Then once the script is made I can assign the keystroke CMD Shift S to this script, hide the save as function in the keyboard shortcuts/ menu items.
Then every time I go to save it would add the meta tags I need as I work?
This is the sort of data I want to save,
var idsetd = charIDToTypeID( "setd" );
    var desc11 = new ActionDescriptor();
    var idnull = charIDToTypeID( "null" );
        var ref3 = new ActionReference();
        var idPrpr = charIDToTypeID( "Prpr" );
        var idFlIn = charIDToTypeID( "FlIn" );
        ref3.putProperty( idPrpr, idFlIn );
        var idDcmn = charIDToTypeID( "Dcmn" );
        var idOrdn = charIDToTypeID( "Ordn" );
        var idTrgt = charIDToTypeID( "Trgt" );
        ref3.putEnumerated( idDcmn, idOrdn, idTrgt );
    desc11.putReference( idnull, ref3 );
    var idT = charIDToTypeID( "T   " );
        var desc12 = new ActionDescriptor();
        var idCptn = charIDToTypeID( "Cptn" );
        desc12.putString( idCptn, """Description""" );
        var idByln = charIDToTypeID( "Byln" );
        desc12.putString( idByln, """Author""" );
        var idBylT = charIDToTypeID( "BylT" );
        desc12.putString( idBylT, """Author Title""" );
        var idObjN = charIDToTypeID( "ObjN" );
        desc12.putString( idObjN, """Document Title""" );
        var idCprN = charIDToTypeID( "CprN" );
        desc12.putString( idCprN, """Copyright Notice""" );
        var idURL = charIDToTypeID( "URL " );
        desc12.putString( idURL, """Copyright Info URL""" );
    var idFlIn = charIDToTypeID( "FlIn" );
    desc11.putObject( idT, idFlIn, desc12 );
executeAction( idsetd, desc11, DialogModes.NO );}

After your first scan you need to click the + sign at the 7 o'clock position.

  • Read data in real time and save as an excel file

    Hi,
    I want to write a LabVIEW progarmme which able to read data in real time and save it as an excel file from Varian Vacuum muli-gauge.
    It is using RS232 port.
    Can anyone give me some examples or point me in the right direction?
    I am a beginner of LabVIEW. Hope anyone can help me.
    Thank you very much!!
    Joanne

    Thanks for your reply.
    I just use MAX to verify that the rs232 port is operational.
    However, there is an error (please refer to the attachment).
    One possible reason is in MAX I am trying to do the default command *idn? ...but it doesn't work.
    I read the vacuum multi-gauge manual but I don't know which command should I use...
    I attached the manual and can you tell me which command should I use?
    Or can you tell me other possible reason for this error code?
    Thank you very much.

  • Option to Add Meta Data to Web Page on V3 dashboard

    Where is the option to add mata date in the V3 dashboard?

    Title Tags & SEO
    I worked fine for me but if you want to be sure you can put you own header information into the HTML in your page. I’m going to ramble on because other people may find this information useful
    Things have change with search engines and the only thing that is important is your title information in the header and how you write it.
    First let's talk about meta tags. Meta elements are HTML or XHTML elements used to provide information about a web page for the search engines and website users.
    Such elements must be placed as tags in the head section of a HTML document. These elements are the:
    Title Tag,
    Description.
    Keywords (No one uses these anymore and you can get spam "points" for overuse of keywords on Bing and Google, so just forget them. If you have keyword stuffed "spammy" ones, you probably want to fix those.)
    For now it’s back to the basics with SEO! And nothing is more basically important to a site than properly written title tags. You know the ones that used to appear in the little blue bars in your browsers. Most modern browsers try to conceal these, though that doesn't stop them being helpful!
    So what is a title tag? Why is it important to SEO, and how do you write the darn things?
    A title tag is THE MOST IMPORTANT SINGLE TAG in your page. It tells the search engines what your page is about. It is still vitally important to paid or organic SEO strategy.
    Think of title tags like the title of the chapter of a book. It tells people and search engines what your page is about.
    Title tags are also part of what makes people decide whether to visit your site when it shows up in the search results. The title tag should contain important keywords to help the search engine determine what the page is about.
    NOTE: Every experienced SEO has their own unique methods to doing this, so I'm going to give you best practices along with some of my methods
    When you do a search on Google, the information that shows up is in the title tag so you need to write title tags for humans but format them for search engines.
    Every page on your site has an opportunity to rank high on search engines for a particular keyword,
    Quick Checklist
    When you're writing your title tag what do you need to know? Here's a quick checklist with some tips on how to write optimized title tags:
    Length: Title tags should be a maximum of 70 characters long, including spaces.
    Keyword Placement: Your most important words (keywords) need to be first in your title tag, with your least important words being last in the title tag (most to least).
    Keyword Separation: Use pipes | to separate important (keyword) phrases (no commas, underscores, dashes or any other punctuation unless the keyword is written that way).
    Wording: Keep your important phrases short and simple. Leave out words that would make it read like a sentence. (e.g., and, if, but, then, etc.)
    Company Name: If your company name is not part of the important (keyword) phrases, put it at the end of the title tag or leave it out. If it is part of your important words, put it as the first words in the title tag. Some SEOs will tell you to leave it out. You can leave it in for branding purposes – so people will see the brand and click. This isn't valid for all sites.
    DON'T DUPLICATE Title Tags: They must be written differently for every page. Don't mass replicate your title tags.
    Make It Relevant: Title tags must be written to be descriptive of the content on the page. (e.g., the About Page would be:
    About | Important Keywords | Company Name
    or
    Important Keywords | About Us | Company Name.
    Google & Title Tags
    Sometimes Google doesn't like your title tag. In fact, sometimes Google thinks it can pick a better one, so it will rewrite the tag for you. There are several places it might get this information, most of them you won't prefer to one you crafted yourself.
    While there isn't any assurance your title tag won't be replaced, make sure you write a title tag that is page related, content descriptive, short and sweet, and not keyword stuffed. This is your one defense.
    Keyword Stuffed Title Tags
    You've probably come across badly written title tags that try to rank for everything or repeat a word over and over. Keyword stuffing is the worst offense when it comes to title tags. (You will be penalize)
    Say your site is trying to rank for Blue Bells and Yellow Bells. Many times you will see the main keyword repeated multiple times across the title tag. It might appear like this:
    Blue Bells, Yellow Bells, All Types of Bells | Bells Bells and More | Doors.com
    This is bad title tag writing. You don't need to repeatedly write the keyword. Google especially can pick up the keywords like your eyes can read them, so you would best to rewrite this as
    Blue & Yellow Bells | Doorbells | Doors.com
    We removed the extra words, combined the products (if possible you would split these products to separate pages, a blue and a yellow, but this isn't always feasible or desirable) and added a category keyword which would appear in the middle of the title tag on all doorbell related page titles, then end it with the domain name (again this is for branding purposes – there are also good reasons to not do this, it depends on the SEO).
    Now our title tag is short, sweet, simple, and to the point. We have also categorized it and added in branding for good measure.
    We also took out the word "and" and replaced it with an ampersand (&) so that you don't accidentally relate the two items and make Google think you want people who are looking for Blue AND Yellow Bells.
    And there you go, a basic lesson in title tag writing. This can be the most challenging and fun part of any SEO's work! Or should that be "Inbound Marketer's" work?
    Some Title Tag Writing Examples
    Let's look at a few examples of writing title tags with actual examples.
    If your important words (keywords) were "Charlie Sheen" and "Winning" your title tag would be written in that order:
    Charlie Sheen Winning
    Charlie Sheen would be the first words in the tag.
    Now what if we had more than one set of words? What if my keywords were "Charlie Sheen Winning" and "Tiger's Blood"? Your title tag would still be written with "Charlie Sheen Winning" as the first words in the tag. Then you would add a pipe | and "Tiger's Blood" as the second phrase:
    Charlie Sheen Winning | Tiger's Blood
    Don't use hyphens, underscores, commas or any other type of character – just pipes.
    Now what if we had more than one set of words and a company name we were not worried about optimizing for (the company name was not part of the reputation issue). If my words were "Charlie Sheen Winning" and "Tiger's Blood" and "CBS", you would separate these three phrases with pipes, with CBS last and farthest from the beginning, which Google sees as the least important phrase:
    Charlie Sheen Winning | Tiger's Blood | CBS
    The company name can be repeated in every title tag as long as it as not part of the important words and appears at the far right end of the title tag.
    What about sentences? Couldn't you just write a sentence such as "Charlie Sheen Says Winning And Tiger's Blood And Gets CBS Riled Up"? You could, but those extra words like "says", "and", and "riled", dilute your important words and make them less important to content, so best to keep it short, simple, and clear. Leave out the extra words.
    Once you’re finish with all of this its time to submit you pages to the search engines. You will need to create an XML & HTML sitemap.

    http://www.justdreamweaver.com/blog/2008/07/webassist-surveyor-build-html-and-xml-sitemaps -in-dreamweaver/
    Don’t forget to check each page ranking monthly and make the necessary tweaks to your title information as needed. (Each page needs to rank for a unique key word on your site)
    I’m going to stop now but that’s only the start of organic search engine optimization.

  • Quicktime Meta-data Access (Creation Time)

    Greetings,
    I'd like to be able to pull the creation time from a quicktime file. A bit of browsing at Apple's QT site left me quite confused. It does seem, however, that the time (or was it just the date) is available as a tag inside the QT file. Anybody have a working bit of code I can steal??
    Background: My digital camera (Kodak 3600) lets me shoot quicktime snippets. But, their transfer software is broken (misorders files). It also doesn't do the file management the way I want it to be done :) So, anyway, I'm putting together a simple swing client to handle the chore. I'd like to be able to get the creation time from the metadata, so I can correctly order the images/videos on my PC archive. I have successfully used JExif to grab Exif tags from the JPGs, and would like to get similar info from the metadata inside the quicktime file.
    Thanks very much for your help,
    Bill Nace

    Don't have working code (though it's an interesting little thing to try when I get back home), but if you're willing to switch from JMF to QuickTime for Java, the "Media" class in that API has a getCreationTime() method that is probably what you're looking for. This returns an int that represents the number of seconds (not milliseconds) elapsed since Midnight, Jan 1, 1904 (ie, the Beginning of Macintosh Time).
    As for getting the Media, start with a Movie, get the right Track, then do Track.getMedia().getCreationTime(). Appropriate caveats about QTJ's difficulty apply, as do apologies for bringing it up in this forum.
    Shot in the dark, but it looks like that's how you do it in QTJ. Don't know if JMF exposes this meta-data in any way (kinda thinking not...)

  • How can I add the date next to time in menu bar?

    Hi, I'd like to see today's date next to the "time" on the right-hand side of the menubar. I called Apple tech support twice about it and no one could help. The last guy suggested I post the question here, and someone might know of a third-party app... I don't want a calendar on my desktop, I don't want to click anything to see the date. I want it in the menubar with the time. It would be so handy.

    SOOO AWESOME -- THANK YOU! I spent over an hour on the phone with two different tech support people and they said it couldn't be done. Have to admit it's sort of a dodgy workaround, but thanks for the link, V.K, I am SO pleased! I was even able to add a couple of extra spaces to keep the time and date spaced apart. (Maybe the next OS can resolve this in a simpler manner...)

  • IWeb meta data

    I see iWeb is not an HTML editor and I need to add Meta data to my site so that I can submit to search engines. I am using the program because it is very easy and quick to use but I am publishing to a seperate site, not a .mac site. If I open the file with an editor like Dreamweaver I could insert the code no problem and then publish but since that additional code would not be in my original iweb sfiles it would be overwritten next time. Where can I find the original iWeb files on the computer and edit those so that the Meta data will be there every time? Also it has been a few years since I published a commercial website, do they still use meta tags for the search engines?
    Thanks,

    All the information iWeb needs to create your websites is in one file called "Domain." When you launch iWeb for the first time, the Domain file's default location is:
    +~/Library/Application Support/iWeb+
    (the tilde (~) represents your home directory)
    ...and edit those so that the Meta data will be there every time?
    You cannot edit this Domain file ~ so you have to re-edit the HTML files after publishing.
    Also it has been a few years since I published a commercial website, do they still use meta tags for the search engines?
    The following is quoted from Patrick Griffiths' book +"XHTML & CSS"+:
    The primary application of meta tags used to be in the optimization of a web page for search engine rankings. Keywords and descriptions were used by the search engine algorithms to judge how closely a web page matched a given phrase. Nowadays, however, few search engines take any notice of meta tags that specify page keywords due to their misuse and tendency to lead to irrelevant material. Instead, search engines tend to base their results on the page content itself. Google, for example, will only use the meta tag "description" to accompany a search result, but ignores meta tags altogether when it comes to judging a page's rank. It bases its results primarily on content, the page title, and also terms that are used to link to the page in question.
    So is there any real point? Meta tags certainly aren't the force they used to be when it comes to search engines, but they can still be used to convey useful information about the page. Even if an application doesn't directly use a meta tag, someone looking at the page source itself could still benefit from such information. Another common value for the name attribute is "copyright", which won't be directly used by anything (such as search engines or browsers), but can be used to point out copyright information to a casual observer.
    ...Content is king/queen.

  • Photoshop Meta Data File Sizes

    I am using meta data "description" menu to add meta data to web images.
    The basics:
    title
    description
    keywords
    copyright
    Thats is about it for my application....so far and like I say it is just for web images at this point.
    At any rate to me surprise I did not realize how much the meta data added to file size.
    I had assummed it was minimal but in fact that is not the case. Meta data ends up adding a lot.
    Question:
    So is there a way in Photoshop to see what the final file size will be with the meta data included as I have found, so far, is the image itself file size when I view the
    "Saving for Web & Devices" menu screen.
    Also tried the "Info" menu and neither indicate the meta data additons ito an images file size.
    One of the reasons is, of course, that I would like to get as many keywords in there as possible, as an example lets say this was the logo or site's header and they have a lot of different products.
    The more keywords the better the SEO results will be. I am sure this statement in itself is disputable but as of now 5/2013 it appears that way as far as SE's are concerned.
    Tested this extensively and the result were remakable, but that is another story.
    Any help or links to other infomration will be
    greatly appreciated
    thank you
    Jonny

    Mylenium wrote:

    I new that was a big mistake saying it that way.
    I was focused on the file size issue.
    Trying to use more efficient effective keywords for an image that represents several products.
    As a simple example let's say the site focused on pencils, pens, and paper clips.
    So just using one of those keywords or even just two of them would be misleading to the site visitor.
    So in my opinion using all three would be most effective.
    I don't intend to use red pens, black pens, purple pens, metal paper clips, plastic paper clips, colored paper clips, etc.
    But that is not my point anyway. What a pain in the *** it will be to try this, save it, try that, save it, blah, blah, blah,etc.
    Thank you very muich for taking the time to respond and KNOW that I greatly appreciate your advise.
    You confimred my suspicions.
    I did find a PS CS5 Plug-in that would supposedly make this task easier but i am very suspicous, won't waste my time.
    Took a copy of the default "raw data" from the "File Info" menus and pasted that into BBEdit (XML or whatever) and the file size increased by about 3.5k with just the default "raw data", whoa.
    So with experimetation, as you suggest I may get and idea of size more or less.
    I was hoping I was making it harder than it was but Adobe has not responded either.

  • Which wrappers support meta data saving?

    Hello all -
    I am getting closer to creating a workflow that works for all my cameras.  The last challenge I am having is trying to decide what to do with my mp4(gopro created) that Prelude doesn't like and can't add meta data to. Mainly I want to add Production names, etc to the files but then I want to add comments and markers too as the tool is meant to be used.
    Qs
    1 - is there any way to use the mp4s and get the ecosystem to save such data in xmp files?
    2 - what are others doing in this case? I'd transcode(nothe topic I know) but I decide what equivalent codec to use from the Quicktime wrapper list or other(?) that can also store meta data.
    3 - Anyone know of a list of wrappers that do support meta data???
    thanks
    Rich

    Hi Michael.
    Ah, cool. Thanks for the info. I'll try the Match Source route too. Yesterday I took a few samples (MTS from another camera) through the ingest process and cam up with a set of sample sizes. Interesting range shift in each when viewing in QuickTime(I know, not always the best). I need to pull them up in Premiere side by site and see if they read any differently.
    Anyway, I did set up some GoPro specific codecs in AME and thus had then in PL for my tests. See attached for size comparisons. The ones marked with GPS are from GoPro studio with Med and Low tests run. The AME CF's are with Cineform's 100% and 50% quality.
    Now I am very curious what the Match source will do. I'll be it will be lower size, by a lot, and theoretically retain the vast majority of the quality of the original.  I guess the benefit of going with the AME CF mode is that it really does move towards an intermediate editing format right? That the other thing I was considering shooting for, but my first goal was to at least get consistent logging for all my camera's base formats[ MTS(AVCH.264), Mov(H.264), and MP4(I guess H.264)]
    I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks for both of your replies!
    Rich
    PS- the nubers at the end of each are the factors of increase in size freme the source

    The meta data for each image is missing.
    I have over 2,000 images. I don't want to go back through each image and add meta data.
    Is there some way to move everything?

    No, do not re-import your images. I assume you can see the thumbnails in the library module, just cannot access the full images, right? If this is the case there should be an exclamation mark in the top right corner of every one of your pictures and you only have to tell LR where the images are now.
    Click the exclamation mark of one of the images and a dialog window should pop-up, telling you that LR cannot find the file, but with an option to locate it. Press "Locate" and navigate to the folder on your new HD where the file is. If in the new external HD you kept the same folder structure that you had on the internal disk, LR will be able to find all your images and re-link them to the database without further intervention.

  • Where do you enter meta data?

    I have been working my Business Catalyst site under the vew version with reasonable success for months until today, when I decided I should review and maybe update the meta data, specifically the keywords.  I've been all over the menu looking for the tool or option that allows me to access this data.
    I finally went back to the old version where Add Meta Data is in the right menu.
    But I am assuming that the old version will eventually go away because it's ... old.  Surely there must be some way in the new version to make these changes.
    BTW, I did search the forums and tutorials before writing this post.  The only thing I found was a tutorial written for the old version.

    Thanks much, but it led to more questions.
    1.  The old version had three meta names to fill in: descriptions, keywords and robots.  I don't see robots in the page properties.  Where would that be filled in?
    2.  In the page I'm working on now, I have the robots definition (older version) set "NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW".  When I saved the html to my PC so I could examine the code, I found this in the header:
    <META name="robots" content="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW">
    ...4 <LINK lines for stylesheets and a <SCRIPT line ...
    <META name="robots" content="index, follow">
    I think this is counter to what I'm asking for.  This is not a page I can eliminate, but neither do I want it to be considered when my webpage ranking is being considered, particularly now I've been told that the weaker pages can drag you down.  It seems that the second robots line is telling the spider or whatever they call it to go ahead and crawl, in spite of my telling it not to.
    3.  This is more an observation than a question.  The page properties has a field for Page Title, and there is also a Page Title field under Page Details above the design page.  I tested this by putting different values into each field, updating, and saving off the html.  The value that is listed in the header is from the Page Details section, and not page properties.
    I have not yet checked out the keywords and description.  That's next.

  • Viewing Photo Meta Data on the IPhone

    Is there an app in the app store that will allow me to view the meta data tags for my photos? I tried to find one, but the ability to find apps based on functionality in the app store is pretty limited.

    Not sure on your exact need but try this site for app shopping... http://appshopper.com/. Much easier and quicker than the App store. There are a few others you can find with Google.

  • How do I add Meta tags to pages?

    Is it possible to add meta tag information for the pages (such as keywords, description, robots, etc.) directly in Muse?
    I'd like to add meta tag data to describe the page to help with search engine optimization.

    I found a lot of useful information on here: http://www.muse-themes.com/blogs/news/6103624-seo-in-adobe-muse-search-engine-optimization #comments
    However I would like to know: If you have multiple pages dealing with different topics does one need to adjust the meta-data accordingly for each page.
    For example, I am redoing a website for a small earthmoving contractor who offers a range of services including new lawn installation (NOT mowing!), drainage, landscaping, post hole boring, driveways - to name a few; these are essentially the main pages with content explaining each service a little further.
    So would I be correct in assuming I should have a unique description, keywords and (obviously) page title for each page?
    How about the home page? Should the metadata attempt to cover all services offered within the website as a whole, or just the content of the home page?
    Thanks in advance!
