RFC - why is my Fault message tab blank???

Hi,
I'm trying to perform a mapping of a Fault message for my RFC to a structure, however after importing the RFC when I switch to the tab for the Fault page, there is no structure defined. My RFC is defined as throwing exceptions. Could you please explain how I get to see the Fault message structure showing in the imported RFC?
Thanks
Brian

Hi,
In the Integration Builder, double-click on the RFC you have imported (under Imported Objects). You will start in the Structure tab.
At the top of the Structure tab page is a Message Type combobox. Use that to switch between Request, Response and Fault.
In my case the Fault Message Type is blank.
The RFC does raise exceptions which are configured in the appropriate section using tx SE37 (Function Builder)

  • Why is My Safari Extensions Tab Blank?

    Hi Everyone!
I wanted to edit some settings on an extension I installed a looong time ago, but I can't seem to do that without the extensions showing up in the preferences tab. (Please see attached photo of my Safari Preferences box.) I tried restarting Safari, restarting my Mac, and deleting the extensions in the Library folder then reinstalling them. So, I did all I could think of and I tried looking for other help online. Everyone made the exact same suggestions. So, I would really appreciate any help anyone can offer me with this problem. Thanks in advance and have a great day! =)

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Fault Messages

    I have a Scenario:
    HTTPS --> XI --> RFC
Now this is a sync scenario. The issue is that the RFC returns either a Response or an Exception.
My sender interface has request, response and an exception message. The exception message I have put into the fault message box.
Now I have done all of the mappings and have  gone to do the interface mapping but... I can only include a request and response message in my tabs for the mapping. There is no option for the fault message.
Could you please let me knwo how I should include the fault message mapping or let me know if there shouldn't be a mapping.
Can someone explain how fault messages should be handled in Sync Scenarios....
Please no blogs unless they are relevant for this specific question...

    OK... let me explain.
I have my sender message interface which is from the https client.
It contains Request, Response and FaultMessage.
I have my RFC Receiver interface.
It contains Request, Response and Exception.
No when I go to the interface mapping I dont see a Fault message tab.
Should this be the case? Or should I see a fault message tab

  • Handling fault messages in BPM

    Hi,
I am using BPM for a RFC to SOAP scenario to handle Fault messages. (Please have a look at my previous post also SOAP Fault message )
I have created an exception block in BPM to catch the fault message from SOAP service. Inside the exception block i need to map the fault message to RFC response. But fault message is not accessible in Exception block.
Let me know if you have any idea to solve this.
    Thanks,
    Uma

    Uma:
Let me make clear the requiremt. You have RFC Import(aka Request message) and Export(aka Response + Exception) and you have Web Service with Request, Response, Fault messages. And you want to send the fault messages back to the RFC in addition to the response. I was wondering, If we do the following mapping without BPM, does that fulfill your requirement.
    RFC-Import <----
    > SOAP Request
    RFC-Export <----
    > SOAP Response
    RFC-Export <----
    > SOAP Fault
Can you let me know if you face any problems with this one. I have seen your other thread and was wondering, whats the problem is. May be I didn't understand the requirement properly. Please clarify me

  • RFC to SOAP fault message not catched

    Hi All
I have a scenario where RFC is being send from ECC system I then call a web service, The webservice returns me a fault error messages when for example the order on the webservice system does not exist.
I created a exception in the RFC and created the mapping for the fault message.
When call ing the webservice I get error in comunication chanell:
Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: SOAP: response message contains an error XIAdapter/HTTP/ADAPTER.HTTP_EXCEPTION - HTTP 500 Internal Server Error
    I have tried adding:
    XMBWS.NoSOAPIgnoreStatusCode    =     true
In the modules tab but still not getting soap fault.
below is response from webservice if I use other soap client:
    <soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
       <soap:Body>
          <soap:Fault>
             <faultcode>soap:Client</faultcode>
<faultstring>Unmarshalling Error: cvc-minLength-valid: Value '' with length = '0' is not facet-valid with respect to minLength '1' for type 'nonEmptyExternalReference'.</faultstring>
          </soap:Fault>
       </soap:Body>
    </soap:Envelope>

    Hi,
I don't think so you can catch 500 internal server errors using falut messages.
Your target system has to capable of sending error messages in valid XML format then only you can catch them.coming too fault message concept we will implement in ABAP server proxies scenarios where we have a opportunity to catch errors in send as response. but i doubt in SOAP receiver scenarios.

  • How to create Fault Message Type when developing RFC (se37)

    Hi,
I am working on importing a RFC into XI but am seeing only the Request and Response message structures. The Fault Message structure is blank. I need this to trap .Exception errors like when the connection to partner is broken etc. which look like system errors but they appear in XI as Application errors and the RFC_Name.Exception message is sent back to XI.
Question is: what needs to be done in the RFC so that when I import into XI, I get the Fault Message structure as well.
    Thanks in advance

  • Fault message types: Why do we need them?

    Hi guys,
I have a bpm scenario created, tested and working.
This bpm starts with a async receive, a Sync Send to a R3 system by an ABAP proxy and a final async send to the original system.
I'm contemplating exception handling and other type of errors. Meaning, if the abap proxy dumps I can raise an exception and map it on the XI environment. The thing is, on  sxmb_moni I get the exception handler, with the exception texts, id's, etc... from the R3 being mapped to the XI fault message type.
But the problem is I can't get to map the text from the fault message type into any field from the response of the original system.
I've searched the forum and I've seen that this area is surrounded by doubts and questions...
But in the end I'm forced to place the question, why do I need the fault message types? What use can I give them, besides of the cute little thunder on the sxmb_moni?
    Thanks for your attention guys

    Hi Krishna,
I've read the SAP description about Fault Message Types but I'm still struggling on how to use them correctly.
Why do we need them if I can't do nothing with it on the BPM side? After the mapping of the FMT, I'd like to acess it so that I can send a description back to the original system...The thing is, in BPM you can't acess the FMT, you can only create a new BRANCH (on a block step) for it...
I've tried to acess the description text on trace which comes with the message, but it seems that the trace only serves for posting info, and not for getting any...
The Mapping Runtime Constants have some information where you can read some descriptions, but nothing related to the errors....You can read the Receiver service, sender, interface_namespace, but nothing from the ERROR tag...
Is there a way to get the description? Or anything related to the error tag?
    Thanks in advance

  • RFC - JDBC fault message

    Hello All,
Probably this has been discussed before, but i am unable to find a direct solution till now.
I have a synchronous RFC to JDBC scenario, where data is inserted from R/3 to JDBC and JDBC returns with the count of records it inserted in oracle. everything is working fine.
But in case when there is an error in insert, short dump occurs in R/3. i can see the response message has the error that some fields are null and so the insertion failed.
My question is, how to capture this fault and get a exception equivalent in my RFC, so for further processing it can simply be check against SY-SUBRC.
I would appreciate any pointers or help on this.
    Regards,
    Kinshuk

    Hi Kinshuk,
one month ago I implemented also synch JDBC scenario but with call from client proxy (ABAP Proxy <->JDBC). First you ca try is to implement exception in your RFC and then update the metadata in IR. Assign also Fault Message to Inbound JDBC Message Interface and create mapping between RFC exception message and Fault Message.
If it will not help you, try to change your implementation to ABAP Proxy if possible. With Proxy you can use ABAP statement  "TRY/CATCH" and catch system error as I do in my implementation.
As far as I know, JDBC adapter does not support Fault Messages. But I never had system with latest SP. For examply in this 1492453 note you can see, that the detail text message of exception in Adapter was not transfered to IS (sxi_monitor) in SP bellow 12. With proxy you should have access to that exception and it might be possible get the "detail text" from exception object.
On my current project I'm still waiting for SP so in my implementation I can catch Proxy exception but I'm not able to tell user what exactly happend. He has to check Comm.Channel monitoring for more info.
If you have SP12 or higher you should be able not only catch system exception but also to get the detail error text from JDBC Adapter back to your proxy implementation.

  • Define fault message type for RFC

    Hi,
How can I define the fault message type for RFC so that when I import RFC from another server to XI, I can view this Fault type.
So far I could only see Request and Response type .
    Thanks

    Hi Rokie,
Acc. to me by default we are having only request and response mesages for RFC and in case some exception/fault is there the RFC will through this in the response under the Return parameter having msg,id number as sub fields which you can map to fault message type.

  • Fault Messages (RFC)

    Hi experts,
If my RFC function haven't defined exeptions, can i using fault message?,
    very thanks,
    regards,

    Hi Silvia
Did you tested the payload executing at R/3. if the RFC is providing the expected results. If not then you need to debug the FM with the payload at R/3.
Its always a good practice to have exception raise by FM. make life easier
    Thanks

Why do I keep getting a message "insert blank disk" when trying to burn playlist to cd? I can import burned cds to iTunes just fine, but cannot burn playlist to disk.

because you have to be using a blank cd-rw or cd-r.

  • SOAP to RFC using fault message

    Hi All,
I get a request from Web-service by using the SOAP adapter and pass the same to the SAP ECC for geting the response. I do not need a message mapping as i am passing the same data to SAP ECC. I need to track the errors in fault messages.
Q1. Can i use the fault message handling without using the message mapping.
Q2. If web-service is down and i can't send the response back then do i need to using the fault messageing concept or is there any other way i can get the details back in XI.
If we can use the fault message without using message mapping concept, can someone help me out.
    Thanks,
    JGD

You are using SOAP sender and Proxy receiver synchronous
    >>Q1. Can i use the fault message handling without using the message mapping.
Request mapping, Response mapping and fault message mapping - all these three constitutes message mapping.
    >>Q2. If web-service is down and i can't send the response back then do i need to using the fault messageing concept or is there any other way i can get the details back in XI.
If the webservice is down , you dont get message, then you dont need fault message.  Fault message is used only for business exceptions and more. If your ECC is down due to some exceptions or errors, you can trace those messages in  proxy coding and pass  it up to soap as fault message as response.
In this case, you dont need at all.

  • Difference in Fault message types & exceptions for Webservice in ABAP

    Hello all,
I am relatively new to the web service framework in SAP. My problem scenario is as follows.
I have a WSDL file of a webservice from 3rd party non-SAP s/w  and I want to replicate the same webservice into SAP by creating FM in SE37 with same imp/exp parameters and functionality.
So I first created a consumer proxy using the external WSDL file of non-SAP webservice. This generated imp/exp DDIC structures in SAP. Now I created a RFC FM in SE37 with similar Imp/exp parameters and relesed this FM as a webservice.  I then created another consumer proxy using WSDL of this newly created webservice in SAP.
In the old consumer proxy I see a structure as SOAPFault as a Fault message type which has 3 fields ERRORCODE, TEXT, DETAILS but in the newly created consumer proxy I don't see Fault message types but i see exceptions which i mentioned in exception tabs while creating the FM. The imp/exp parameters are identical.
So my question is while creating a web service in SAP using a FM in SE37, what needs to be done in order to get the Fault message types getting created automatically when we create a consumer proxy for this webserivice?
Also based on the WSDL of 3rd party system , can i replicate the same web service in SAP ?
Appreciate your expert advice on this.
