RH9 application help "Contents & Index" broken

I have been using RH9 for months now and I still fail to grasp how the RH9 application help is supposed to work.
When I click the Help button in the main toolbar, I am supposed to choose from the available options. The option that looks TO ME like "normal" application online help functionality is the first one, called "Contents & Index".
So I click it, and what happens? After a wait, what happens is that our default IE browser home page opens (which is our corporate intranet home page).
So what the blazes am I supposed to do with THAT? Does that sound like "Contents & Index" to you? Well it doesn't to me either.

And if you are on a 64 bit system, the path is likely to be:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Help\
Personally I'd be shocked if the AIR runtime wasn't installed. I believe it gets installed when RoboHelp (or the Tech comms Suite) is installed.

  • RoboHelp Contents & Index menu item

    Using RoboHelp 11, I click on Help\Contents & Index in the RoboHelp IDE and I am sent the "Adobe Communities" site. I sign in and search for RoboHelp and get no results. I scroll down and find the Forums link so here I am. Is there no actual online help for RoboHelp? Kind of mind boggling since this software is for creating online help!

    Except there is online help.
    Using that link, I get taken to http://help.adobe.com/en_US/robohelp/robohtml/index.html which looks like this. If you use Search you may get taken to other resources if you don't tick This Reference Only.

    I even fresh install the system and every time I do repair the permission I always end up with this even though it said repaired.
    I figure this is the problem my laptop, sometime it wont save files or documents and it goes in limbo and had to force shutdown and have to restart on the
    booth drive to have it permission repair. I just updated to 10.9.3 and will see if this stop the crashing but repair permission notice is still the same.

    I see the same thing since the general release of 10.9.3. This did not occur in prior versions.

    I've made sure a dozen times that my home page is set correctly, and when I hit the home button next to the search bar it works and takes me right to google BUT whenever i open a new tab i get the error that my page cannot load and the web url that it keeps trying to remember is in the error message:
    Firefox can't find the file at chrome://quick_start/content/index.html.
    of course the last dot is not the url anymore but the end of the sentence for the error message, but i don't ever use chrome ever on my laptop only my cell so what is going on????? help fix god please!!!!!!

    Do you have the FastStart extension?
    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Choice between UPK in-application help and standard EBS help

    Hi,
    We are on a EBS 11.5.10 project, implementing UPK.
    We got UPK in-application help working; changed custom.pll, set the profile option, everything fine.
    Now we would like the users to have the choice between UPK help (default) and standard EBS help.
    Therefore we opened the In-Application Support Player Configuration, and created a new Tab:
    Type: Oracle E-Business Suite help
    Tab Text: EBS help
    URL: ?
    Whatever we put in the URL, it won’t display the standard EBS context sensitive help. We can see the ‘EBS help’ tab when selecting ‘window help’ in the application but the page is blank or shows an error message.
    Do you have any tips on how to get this working?

    I have the exact same requirtment, Could you please give the step what you have done so that it would be helpfull. Also after publishing the content on the i am not seeing the "Application Option" i am seeing the smart help. do we need to configure on "Application Option" or on smart help. Where ever is see the doc it says configure oracle_gateway.html but i dont see oracle/hemi folder at all. do know if there is a set up that has to be done to get this option (UPK 11.10.1)

  • CHM buttons are not localized in a French project (shows English Contents, Index, Search, Print, Hide buttons)

    I opened an old WinHelp project into my new RoboHelp 7. When
    I generate the CHM, even with the Project Settings in RoboHelp set
    to French and running in a French Windows operating system (MS
    Windows XP Pro 2002 SP 2), the CHM output is still in English. The
    buttons display in English (Contents, Index, Search, Print, Hide
    buttons). The title bar of the CHM also says &quot;HTML
    Help&quot; even though the project title in the Project
    Settings is &quot;Aide en ligne...&quot;.
    My Windows Regional Settings through the Control Panel -
    Regional Options tab is set French (France). On the Languages tab I
    under Text Services and Input Languages, Details button, I selected
    French (France) French. On the Advanced tab I selected French. Then
    I rebooted.
    On the language bar on my Task pane, I selected FR. The CHM
    still displays in English.
    Please help! I have to produce 4 CHMS in languages other than
    English today.

    GinaL, would you be able to give us an update? Did the CHM
    files look ok on a PC with a true French OS installed?
    To avoid having to rewrite everything, I've written the
    following info/instructions for my team -- though I'm not yet sure
    they're 100% correct:
    After I reported this issue to Adobe, they worked on the
    problem for several days. They even sent me a new
    HtmSingleSourceHtmlHelp.dll file that was supposed to solve the
    problem. But it didn't work correctly. No matter what contortions
    we put ourselves through, we couldn't get both of these items
    correct in the CHM file at the same time, namely:
    Index compiled in correct alphabetical order accdg to the
    language of the help project.
    Correctly translated help title showing in the caption,
    regardless of the user's Windows regional settings. (For example,
    we wanted "FORMS-Hilfe zu FORMS 5-3" to appear as the caption of
    the German version of FORMS help, even if our regional settings
    were set to English.)
    I think we'd all agree that the index has to be in
    alphabetical order. So from what I've seen, this is what we have to
    do when compiling a non-English version of help using RH7:
    1. Set up the project with the foreign name.
    2. Set the language in the project settings. And in the
    Project Settings dialog, click Advanced and check out the LNG File
    tab to make sure it's using a translated version.
    3. Ensure that the Window Caption setting is correct in each
    window included in the project. (On RoboHelp's Project tab, open
    the Windows folder, double-click each window in turn, and check the
    settings.)
    4. Set the Language setting in the HHP file to Language=[hex
    value for that language]. I found a bunch of them listed on this
    web page. Someone else might be able to find a better source:

    5. Change your Windows regional settings to the same language
    as the help project. (Reboot if prompted.)
    6. Recommended, for safety's sake: Delete the CPD file.
    7. Open the project and compile using RH7.
    8. Check the index's sort order -- is it in alphabetical
    order according to the language of the project?
    9. Check the help caption -- make sure it's not "HTML Help".
    Note: Any customized buttons in your CHM should appear
    correctly translated, but other buttons (Contents, Index, Search)
    still appear in English -- at least they do on my PC, even though I
    did step 2 above. We need to check whether those buttons appear
    correctly when the PC is actually running a true foreign version of
    Windows, and not just with temporarily adjusted Windows settings.
    OR -- is anyone else able to get these to appear translated in the
    CHM file?
    Does anyone have anything to add? Other solutions? Easier
    procedures? Better results to report?

  • F1 Help content are displayed in english instead of the language logged in

    Dear all,
    The SAP version is ECC 6.0 unicode system.
    we have imported chinese language and we logged in to SAP using chinese as the logon language.
    when my end user press F1(perfromance assistant), the help contents are getting displayed in English.
    We need the help contents also to be displyed in chinese.
    Do I have to perform any other imports or any other steps to be done.
    Kindly help me in this issue.

    For Chinese, Help is English..
    Generally Help is in English or German.
    If you need any specific language u need to install SAP Help in specific language on the application server and do help configuration in the system.

    Note that such a chrome URL shows a problem with an installed extension (Firefox uses the chrome protocol to access built-in files and files used by extensions).
    In this case a quick_start related extension is involved (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions).

  • Problem finding docs using content index in DB with different charactersets

    Sorry for duplicating thread from [url http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=653067&tstart=0]this thread in Oracle Text forum, but it seems quite slow compared to this one, so probably someone has some suggestion.
    Problem explanation:
    DB version 10.2.0.1 SE on windows
    database characterset AL32UTF8
    I am creating following context index:
    create index myindex on g(Content)
    indextype is ctxsys.context
      parameters('filter ctxsys.auto_filter
      section group ctxsys.null_SECTION_GROUP');With following query:
    SELECT distinct filename FROM g f
    WHERE contains(F.Content, 'latiinju') >0;I can find latin symbols in ansi, utf-8 encoded text documents and msword and msexcel documents.
    With following query:
    SELECT distinct filename FROM g f
    WHERE contains(F.Content, 'latviešu') >0;I can find latvian symbols in utf-8 encoded text documents and msword and msexcel documents, which basically is OK.
    However there is another unfortunately already production database
    10.2.0.3.0 SE on windows
    with characterset BLT8CP921
    and with index as defined above queries find absolutely nothing for both latin and latvian texts.
    As soon as I've added another column "cset" in the table and filled it up with AL32UTF8 I can find latin characters for the same cases as in db above.
    Index in this case is as follows:
    create index myindex on g(Content)
    indextype is ctxsys.context
      parameters('filter ctxsys.auto_filter
      section group ctxsys.null_SECTION_GROUP
      charset column cset');However the problem is that for latvian characters it can find only UTF-8 encoded text files, but not doc and xls files and that's absolutely not OK.
    I've tried also another charactersets in cset columns, but without any success.
    So the question is - is there any possibility somehow to create the content index that it is possible to find also latvian specific symbols in doc and xls files in DB with characterset BLT8CP921?
    Of course the ultimate solution would be to recreate db with AL32UTF8 characterset but I'd like to avoid that if possible.

    I have applied performance tuning steps, like JAVA_POOL_SIZE, SGA_MAX_SIZE, increase table spaces size and change some other DB parameters. After applied, problematic index has been created without error and application is running fine without any error. Many thanks for your prompt suggestion, by which I could narrow down my problem. So, as my problem has been resolved, so please close this thread.

  • Database passive content index state stays FailedAndSuspended even after reseeding

    I have a mailbox database with two copies in a database availability group, the active copy is healthy and its content index state reports healthy as well, the passive copy is healthy but its content index state reports FailedAndSuspended.
    I tried the: Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy <DBName>\<ServerName> -CatalogOnly more than one time, it completes (says 100KB written) but the state never changes.
    I even tried to manually stop the service>delete CI>start the service, the CI folder was recreated (about 1 GB) but still the state is still FailedAndSuspended.
    Please Help!

    I have looked on the internet for a solution and so far nothing has helped the issue.  I've looked at the content submitters group but I would have thought it would have effected both servers and not just 1.
    I've run the script to install the search foundation service but this has not resolved the issue.
    Has anyone come across the errors both and resolved the issue?

    Please check the content index status of databases in DAG. If it's unhealthy, please rebuild content index to check result.

  • Acrobat Distiller 11 "Online Help Content Cannot be displayed."

    Any one else packaged Adobe Acrobat 11 and found that all of the help menus display "Online Help Content cannot be displayed.  Verify you can launch your web browser and have access to the Internet."?  The problem is for Acrobat and Distiller, Adobe Forms Central is fine.
    Ideally there'd be a way just to make the application be able to access the adobe help on the Internet.  I tried adding the FeatureState registry key as we are behind an authenticating proxy.  This made no difference.
    As this didn't seem possible I've configured Acrobat to hide the affected menues and created a new menu which opens the Acrobat_ref.pdf - so Acrobat is now ok.  However, I can't find the Distiller pdfs, i.e. "distiller parameters guide" and "pdfmark guide".  Also I am unsure how you would configure Distiller to point to these on the local machine.  I've used the Adobe Customization Wizard to create the package.
    Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Update Adobe AIR help content without necessity of installation for users???

    I want to make our manuals available as Adobe AIR help applications. Unfortunately for our users it is not possible to regularly install these applications. Therefore I decided to generate a help viewer as AIR file and help content as RHA file ("help content only" ssl option). So admins only once have to install an initial AIR file. Afterwards users are able to replace help content to update help files.
    I proceeded in a similar way as described here:

    In principle this is a good solution - but here is my problem:
    Help content itself already consists of different projects (merged projects). Merged projects unfortunately cannot be generated with "help content only" ssl option.
    Anyone has got an idea how to satisfy all my conditions:
    - Customers only once have to install an AIR file
    - Afterwards help content can be updated by replacing files (without installation)
    - Help content itself contains merged projects .
    Generate different outputs (RHA files) for the merged projects is not a possibility. The merged projects with regard to content belong to ONE single manual - I'm not talking about different manuals. So users should be able to search the whole manual and so on ...).

    It has always irritated me that the blog you refer to uses the term "merged help". It is not merged help, it is simply a collection of outputs where the user can select the one they want.
    My site does have instructions for a true merged AIR Help output but that will not achieve your objective of one install. Sorry but I don't think what you want can be achieved.
