Richfaces and AdfBindings and FacesCtrlRangeBinding question.

I am trying out using Richfaces 3.1 along with ADF bindings and using Jdev 10.1.3.1.
<rich:scrollableDataTable value="#{bindings.EmpView1.collectionModel}" var="row"
<column>
<af:outputText value="#{row.EmpName}" />
</column>
</rich:scrollableDataTable>
J2EE throws and exception saying that the row property doesnt have the EmpName attribute.
javax.faces.el.PropertyNotFoundException: Error getting property 'EmpName' from bean of type oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.model.binding.FacesCtrlRangeBinding$FacesModel at com.sun.faces.el.PropertyResolverImpl.getValue(PropertyResolverImpl.java:127) at oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.model.FacesPropertyResolver.getValue(FacesPropertyResolver.java:92) at com.sun.faces.el.impl.ArraySuffix.evaluate(ArraySuffix.java ...
However when I changed row.EmpName to row.wrappedData.EmpName
<af:outputText value="#{row.wrappedData.EmpName}" />
, there was no exception thrown anymore but JSF page only displayed the first row of EmpView1.
Looking closely, the "row" value binding is an instance of the inner class FacesControllRangeBinding.FacesModel class and it really doesn't have a getAttribute() method, so thats why its normal for Java to complain saying that it does not have a property "EmpName"
However if this is the case, if I used CoreTable, then the compiler should throw the same exception. Unless there is some special code going on in the rendering of CoreTable. I was thinking that maybe there is something special on how the ADF Faces' CoreTable iterates throught its dataModel when its dataModel is coming from the Adf bindings.
To anyone, what are your thoughts on this? Any suggestions on how to go around with this problem?
regards,
Anton

Also realized the Richfaces HtmlScrollableDataTable is on a different component tree as it extends and/or implements different classes and interfaces compared to the ADF faces' CoreTable, so maybe thats the reason why its not rendering as expected. The differences in Coretable and the ScrollableTable by Richfaces.
But do you have any suggestions? how to go around with this?

  • New user and disgusting features - solveable questions?

    Hello all there
I am a new iPod owner, migrated from a hateful 2 year old (now completely broken due to hate) MP3 player, and despite there are some interesting features, I have found some others that are making me considering asking my money back.
Luckily I have no problems regarding USB or other things as a lot of you have experienced, I put the CD first of all and installed everything. No problems installing anything and the device was happily detected as an extraible unit which I liked very much (my previous player appeared as a "thing" instead as a drive)
Its sound is pretty good, I like the sound I get. It's pretty customizable in terms of menus, and some other things like simplicity, despite there are things like the touchpads that I will never like and this is no exception, but this one works finer than any I have tested.
What I don't have liked up to date, and I own it for 2 days (it's november 2nd), are some ugly or very ugly (should I say very very ugly? :D) features it lacks or it's designed to lack of. I like music very much and so I want it to be played the best way a player can provide. I also want players to be simple as a plastic duck mechanism, and somehow this player fills the bill, but not in these cases I want to expose and ask.
    1) 10 GB already copied and no album/artist/genre displayed
Of all my media library, consisting of a folder with subfolders and files inside these subfolders (and no 'simple icon' for any program), where I do the things I want, like extracting songs from my CDs and turning them into MP3 files inside folders with the name "Band - Album", I chose folders for a size of 10 GB and, via explorer, copied & pasted on the root of the new drive, the iPod.
No album/artist/genre/simple thing was found when I ejected the drive and started to browse.
I must say, it froze twice before and after the copy. Luckily I knew, from reading the manual, how to make it work again. I expect things to freeze, despite it only shows bad programming from the company.
But I saw the library as before I put it on for the first time. And there are 10 GB of MP3 files.
My first question I asked to myself was: should I use the iTunes? I answered myself: I can't be bothered to be slaved to use a program with a player. That's one of the things I hated from my old player. And this one appears to be a removable drive. Good. But there are 10 GB of MP3 files and I can't play any of these albums.
Somehow I used the iTunes and it started to do things. Like copying a whole folder with my albums (ALL OF THEM!!!!) to the player, or so it seemed to me. Well, first of all I don't want a program to copy everything it wants by simply saying it "This is my media folder where I decide what to be played here" (something like importing library was selected or pushed, I can't remember). I aborted it quickly as I saw the bar. FFS, to have a structured folder of my media doesn't mean I want ALL OF IT inside my player!!! How on earth you want me to select among 3,500 songs if you display them all to me in a complete raw list!!! Anyway, in the process it seemed to copy 3 albums before I stopped (needless to say, these albums were already in the player!!!). 2 were "sorted" and one was "unsorted", I mean, in the correct song order. The "unsorted" was alphabetically done according to WHATEVER so the order was never pure.
I saw folders like Contacts, Notes and so on (what do we do us that don't use Outlook or Outlook Express and want to use these features? "Brilliant" one, designers... ¬_¬ Luckily I don't care about them) so I tried creating an 'Albums' folder and putting albums inside. Same success.
So I asked myself again: are there ID3 tags needed always? The answer is simple: no. Because among these albums there are albums with and without tags. All of them unseen.
My questions thus are these regarding the unavailability issues:
Q1,1: how can I make these albums visible to the iPod?
    Q1,2:

... beautiful feature to truncate posts...
    It continues here.
... Q1,2: from now on, and for this player, am I a slave to iTunes?
Q1,3: will anybody make a simple program for linux for using these devices? Luckily I have found some tools for Mandrake. But I would appreciate things were less complicated or companies take a look at this market.
Q1,4: will anybodoy make, at once, a choice in a menu that allows the user to NOT TO SORT THE PLAYER BY THE ID3 TAGS??? My classical sort was and is in my 'puters to sort media by folders consisting of "Name of artist - Name of album", be it single, double, triple or quadruple, and inside, files with or without tags. For more than 1 CD albums I use the same folder, with songs named "CD# song_# song title". In these cases there are no tags because the stupid song# tag forces things that uses it to sort albums according to it. In albums like "Gov't Mule - Live... With A Little Help From Our Friends (collectors edition - 4 discs)" I ended up, in my old player, with first playing the first song of each CD, then after these 4 first songs, their 2nd 4 songs, then the 3rd ones... So I wiped the ID tags and finally it was sorted well, so I was happy. Is it so hard to ask for an option like "Do not read ID tags"????????
    2) Live albums
I am a fanatic of live albums. I love to listen to them more than any studio album. I have single, double, triple and quadruple live albums I could listen to for hours, and from start to finish, and enjoy them all.
I love to hear the public cheering and screaming, singing the songs, etc etc due to excitement the live albums give. My old MP3 CD player made, and a lot of car MP3 CD players make, a 2-3 seconds pause between songs. As for studio albums, but not for all of them (see Marillion's "Misplaced Childhood") show no problems, but for us that want continuity for albums like live ones, it is a disappointment.
This player puts pauses between songs.
Ok, less than 1 second pause, but I hate pauses. The feeling of the album is broken. There are silences where they shouldn't be. I ended up so excited I had to stop playing it.
Q2,1: can I correct it from the control panel of the iPod or the iTunes? If not, will it be corrected on future updates?
    3) The sorting mania
From some time I have seen players sort the albums in numerous ways: by genre, album name alone, artist name, year, etc. etc. etc. So let's suppose I want to make my list, WITHOUT HAVING TO MAKE A FIXED PLAYLIST JUST BECAUSE THESE ARE THE SONGS I WANT TO LISTEN FOR TODAY OR FOR 3 DAYS AND WHO KNOWS WHAT WILL I LISTEN TO NEXT WEEK, of some albums from some different artists. Some of them are simply called "Live" (for example, Golden Earring, Johnny Winter, Foghat, but I don't want to listen to Johnny Winter).
By having sorted it by album name, they would appear as "Live". Which one belongs to who? If I go via Artist, I would have to jump as a frog from artist to artist and then browse their album list. If I go from Genre, I simply dunno because it is so mad I don't want to test it.
Q3,1: If they are sorted my way (full list of albums named in my case "Artist - album 1", "Artist - album 2", but you can sort it the way you want to), I only have to move up and down and click on "Add me this one". Is it possible or must I go the crazy way?
The package is beautiful. The player is also beautiful. Maybe I am a weird user because my demands are not expected. But I am a player user and I have my preferences. Nobody seems to care about people that want no complication. I am seriously thinking about getting my money back any way I can. I am asking friends if they can be interested in getting it because I am so extremely disappointed for an € 319 player I want my money back.
Please, people that makes MP3 players, make things easier. Or just think about us and ask us what they would be. There is people that doesn't want any other sort than a simple album list. And that th

  • SAP-JEE, SAP_BUILDT, and SAP_JTECHS and Dev Configuration questions

    Hi experts,
I am configuring NWDI for our environment and have a few questions that I'm trying to get my arms around.
I've read we need to check-in SAP-JEE, SAP_BUILDT, and SAP_JTECHS as required components, but I'm confused on the whole check-in vs. import thing.
I placed the 3 files in the correct OS directory and checked them in via the check-in tab on CMS.   Next, the files show up in the import queue for the DEV tab.  My questions are what do I do next?
    1.  Do I import them into DEV?  If so, what is this actually doing?  Is it importing into the actual runtime system (i.e. DEV checkbox and parameters as defined in the landscape configurator for this track)? Or is just importing the file into the DEV buildspace of NWDI system?
    2.  Same question goes for the Consolidation tab.    Do I import them in here as well?
    3.  Do I need to import them into the QA and Prod systems too?  Or do I remove them from the queue?
    Development Configuration questions ***
    4. When I download the development configuration, I can select DEV or CON workspace.  What is the difference?  Does DEV point to the sandbox (or central development) runtime system and CONS points to the configuration runtime system as defined in the landscape configurator?  Or is this the DEV an CON workspace/buildspace of the NWDI sytem.
    5.  Does the selection here dictate the starting point for the development?  What is an example scenarios when I would choose DEV vs. CON?
    6.  I have heard about the concept of a maintenance track and a development track.  What is the difference and how do they differ from a setup perspective?   When would a Developer pick one over the over?
    Thanks for any advice
    -Dave

    Hi David,
"Check-In" makes SCA known to CMS, "import" will import the content of the SCAs into CBS/DTR.
    1. Yes. For these three SCAs specifically (they only contain buildarchives, no sources, no deployarchives) the build archives are imported into the dev buildspace on CBS. If the SCAs contain deployarchives and you have a runtime system configured for the dev system then those deployarchives should get deployed onto the runtime system.
    2. Have you seen /people/marion.schlotte/blog/2006/03/30/best-practices-for-nwdi-track-design-for-ongoing-development ? Sooner or later you will want to.
    3. Should be answered indirectly.
    4. Dev/Cons correspond to the Dev/Consolidation system in CMS. For each developed SC you have 2 systems with 2 workspaces in DTR for each (inactive/active)
    5. You should use dev. I would only use cons for corrections if they can't be done in dev and transported. Note that you will get conflicts in DTR if you do parallel changes in dev and cons.
    6. See link in No.2 ?
    Regards,
    Marc

A Basic Guide for Migrating to Intel-Macs
The Knowledgebase article Intel-based Mac: Some migrated applications may need to be updated refers to methods of dealing with migrating from PowerPC chips to Intel with the Migration Assistant safely. The authors of this tip have not had a chance to verify this works in all instances, or that it avoids the 10.6.1 and earlier Guest Account bug that caused account information to get deleted upon use of the Migration/Setup Assistant. However, a well backed up source that includes at least two backups of all the data that are not connected to your machine will help you avoid potential issues, should they arise. In event it does not work, follow the steps below.
If you are migrating a PowerPC system (G3, G4, or G5) to an Intel-Mac be careful what you migrate.  Keep in mind that some items that may get transferred will not work on Intel machines and may end up causing your computer's operating system to malfunction.
Rosetta supports "software that runs on the PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor that are built for Mac OS X". This excludes the items that are not universal binaries or simply will not work in Rosetta:
Classic Environment, and subsequently any Mac OS 9 or earlier applications
Screensavers written for the PowerPC System Preference add-ons
All Unsanity Haxies Browser and other plug-ins
    Contextual Menu Items
Applications which specifically require the PowerPC G5 Kernel extensions
Java applications with JNI (PowerPC) libraries
See also What Can Be Translated by Rosetta.
In addition to the above you could also have problems with migrated cache files and/or cache files containing code that is incompatible.
If you migrate a user folder that contains any of these items, you may find that your Intel-Mac is malfunctioning. It would be wise to take care when migrating your systems from a PowerPC platform to an Intel-Mac platform to assure that you do not migrate these incompatible items.
If you have problems with applications not working, then completely uninstall said application and reinstall it from scratch. Take great care with Java applications and Java-based Peer-to-Peer applications. Many Java apps will not work on Intel-Macs as they are currently compiled. As of this time Limewire, Cabos, and Acquisition are available as universal binaries. Do not install browser plug-ins such as Flash or Shockwave from downloaded installers unless they are universal binaries. The version of OS X installed on your Intel-Mac comes with special compatible versions of Flash and Shockwave plug-ins for use with your browser.
The same problem will exist for any hardware drivers such as mouse software unless the drivers have been compiled as universal binaries. For third-party mice the current choices are USB Overdrive or SteerMouse. Contact the developer or manufacturer of your third-party mouse software to find out when a universal binary version will be available.
Also be careful with some backup utilities and third-party disk repair utilities. Disk Warrior, TechTool Pro , SuperDuper , and Drive Genius  work properly on Intel-Macs with Leopard.  The same caution may apply to the many "maintenance" utilities that have not yet been converted to universal binaries.  Leopard Cache Cleaner, Onyx, TinkerTool System, and Cocktail are now compatible with Leopard.
Before migrating or installing software on your Intel-Mac check MacFixit's Rosetta Compatibility Index.

Transferring data with Setup Assistant - Migration Assistant FAQ
Because Migration Assistant isn't the ideal way to migrate from PowerPC to Intel Macs, using Target Disk Mode, copying the critical contents to CD and DVD, an external hard drive, or networking will work better when moving from PowerPC to Intel Macs.  The initial section below discusses Target Disk Mode.  It is then followed by a section which discusses networking with Macs that lack Firewire.
If both computers support the use of Firewire then you can use the following instructions:
    1. Repair the hard drive and permissions using Disk Utility.
    2. Backup your data.  This is vitally important in case you make a mistake or there's some other problem.
    3. Connect a Firewire cable between your old Mac and your new Intel Mac.
    4. Startup your old Mac in Transferring files between two computers using FireWire.
    5. Startup your new Mac for the first time, go through the setup and registration screens, but do NOT migrate data over. Get to your desktop on the new Mac without migrating any new data over.
If you are not able to use a Firewire connection (for example you have a Late 2008 MacBook that only supports USB:)
    1. Set up a local home network: Creating a small Ethernet Network.
    2. If you have a MacBook Air or Late 2008 MacBook see the following:

Copy the following items from your old Mac to the new Mac:
In your /Home/ folder: Documents, Movies, Music, Pictures, and Sites folders.
    In your /Home/Library/ folder:
/Home/Library/Application Support/AddressBook (copy the whole folder) /Home/Library/Application Support/iCal (copy the whole folder)
Also in /Home/Library/Application Support (copy whatever else you need including folders for any third-party applications)
/Home/Library/Keychains (copy the whole folder) /Home/Library/Mail (copy the whole folder) /Home/Library/Preferences/ (copy the whole folder) /Home /Library/Calendars (copy the whole folder) /Home /Library/iTunes (copy the whole folder) /Home /Library/Safari (copy the whole folder)
    If you want cookies:
    /Home/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist /Home/Library/Application Support/WebFoundation/HTTPCookies.plist
    For Entourage users:
Entourage is in /Home/Documents/Microsoft User Data Also in /Home/Library/Preferences/Microsoft.
Credit goes to Macjack for this information.
If you need to transfer data for other applications please ask the vendor or ask in the  Discussions where specific applications store their data.
    5. Once you have transferred what you need restart the new Mac and test to make sure the contents are there for each of the applications.

  • IMovie and iDVD, Stupid Upgrade Questions, Sorry Must Ask

Okay, the deal is I have a PowerMac G4 Version 2.1 with a Combo Drive. I am upgrading to Mac OSX 3.0 so I can do certain things in iMovie and acquire a better browser. (My constraints on the iMovie project about which I've been inquiring are that at least 40 people have been waiting for copies of it for about a month and wondering why I don't come through with it--I sent a lengthy explanation to the guy who'll be duplicating it in case anyone asks. That's one reason I'm in such a hurry I have to ask urgent questions at forums and newsgroups and don't take the time to read every word ever written on every one of these systems and their various applications, abilities, and uses.)
I started out thinking I was about one step from having a completed project and the more I learn, the more grim the situation looks. Yet I've done ALL THIS WORK already to create beautiful titles and elaborately-edited outtakes. I HATE to ditch it all if any faint hope flickers into sight!
My Mac came with the following:
iMovie 3.0.3 -- which seems to be working fine, only problem is, due to deficiencies in other equipment, I'm having trouble getting my movie to DVD or into any other form where it can be played anywhere outside the Mac!
iDVD 2.1 -- My feeble brain, inadequate as it may be, has so far gathered the information that to go to DVD, a project can't be played in iMovie and sent straight to a DVD burner (can it?) There has to be some intermediary step. (Right?) People have argued the various merits of iDVD vs. Toast to accomplish this step. I hadn't opened my copy of iDVD because I am in no way near the point of being ready to make a DVD--I have not yet finished editing the project in iMovie. I made the hideous error of ASSUMING that since this came installed in my Mac, it would work fine when needed, just as iMovie did. When I tried to open it just to see what version I had, it wouldn't open and told me this:
    System Requirements
iDVD 2 requires a PowerMac G4 computer with 256 Megs of RAM, a built-in DVD-R Superdrive and Mac OS 10.1.3 or later.
Stupid redundant bonus question #1: WHY would this come installed on a Mac which lacks the hardware to use it? (iMovie could still be used to edit, and then copy projects--if I had a digital video camera--which I don't. The only other way we've figured is to send it back through the Canopus ADVC110 converter I used to get the video in there, and play it out to a VCR--a cumbersome process I've been assured will result in crummy quality.)
Okay, here are the REAL questions:
    1. I don't suppose there's any way the Canopus could be connected to the DVD burner and the information sent to a DVD that way? Just asking.
    2. Obviously the upgrade isn't going to fix things to make iDVD work, as I'm already using Mac OSX 10.2.8, so I would assume its discontent stems from not having the Superdrive--at least, it was complaining something about inadequate hardware and I think that's what it meant. Will connecting a DVD burner via FireWire convince iDVD to work (either automatically or after some sort of tweaking), or am I stuck replacing the drive? I bought a DVD burner the minute I realized my drive was a Combo Drive and not a Superdrive (which is the first time I stuck a blank DVD in it and nothing happened) before learning details about this intermediary step and that there is more than one way to accomplish it.
    3. Is it even worth replacing the Combo Drive with a Superdrive or is it more worth buying a whole new Mac? If I am FORCED to buy a new Mac, what should I do with the old one? (Not only am I ethically opposed to tossing a perfectly good piece of electronic equipment into the ravine, I might get fined for littering. Can a good home be found for it? For that matter it would be a pain as I've saved all sorts of stuff to the Hard Drive which would have to be transferred to the new one before I could get rid of the old one. So can I keep the old one...PLEASE?)
    4. After making the system upgrade, will I be able to bypass iDVD entirely by using Toast, or does Toast also have all sorts of requirements my hardware does not possess so I'll still be SOL, stuck replacing drives or even the whole Mac, or going directly to crummy-quality VHS as there is NO OTHER WAY OUT?
    5. After making the system upgrade, would I be ready for more advanced versions of iMovie and iDVD? Are any upgrades free, or does every improvement cost? Do I get them all at the Apple site, order some of them from some supplier or other the way I did with the Mac OSX upgrade, or what?
Thanks for helping to clear up my massive confusion!!!

Wow, thanks. It's good to know iDVD is still an option, even if I don't buy the Superdrive (is that even possible, to get the Combo Drive taken out of my current Mac and a Superdrive put in? There's a question still unanswered.)
(I think this is good to know--because part of my reasoning in asking the question was to eliminate one option or the other, and now I'm ending up with options of options, but hold on for Part 2 as I do have some questions concerning the capabilities of iDVD and Toast.)
Partly answering one of my own questions (although I'd appreciate confirmation from someone who actually knows,) if these Toast 7 requirements mean what I think they do, I don't see anywhere that it says the computer MUST have a Superdrive and CAN'T use an external DVD burner!

If this is true (that I can use an external DVD burner) I like Toast already! My Quicktime Player is only version 6.5.2--is it going to be difficult, expensive, or both, to upgrade that? If it is or the other System Requirements are not met I can just go with Toast 6.
As far as those requirements, I promise you I don't understand a word of it but here is what my System Profiler says my Mac has. Maybe someone can make sense of it and help me decide which version of Toast to get or, if not, what to do:

One thing which may really sway me in favor of Toast is, will it make possible burning 2-hour DVDs? Supposedly iDVD will not enable anything longer than 90 minutes, and when I get to the other big project for which I really want to use the Canopus ADVC 110 converter, that is, converting my home movies from either VHS or 8mm video camera tape to DVD--well, ALL of my tapes are two hours long, because that's the way they come!! I don't see being limited to making 90-minute DVDs as anything but another GIANT PAIN of which I'm already amply supplied! So if Toast will fix this dilemma I'm ALL FOR IT!
As always, thanks for help and advice.

  • Mpeg-2 flags, dvdsp, and 23.976 video question

    just got through this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9786956
and have a remaining question. i looked at the m2v file in
    mpeg streamclip and i see:
    Video Tracks:
    224 MPEG-2, 720 × 480, 4:3, 23.976 fps, 7.70 Mbps, upper field first
is the 'upper field first' just a flag to tell how to deal with
this file? or is it stating that the file is interlaced with the
    upper field first?
the intent is to make a progressive dvd at 23.976. the original
material is film, captured and edited at 23.976, progressive. the
material was captured off of an old projector, a frame at a time,
with a digital still camera, so the original has no interlacing
or fields. this went to make an image sequence, which was rendered
to a qt movie at 23.976, also progressive, no fields. it was then
output through compressor to the m2v file which produced the mpeg
streamclip stream info dialog quoted above.
    thanks,
    BabaG

    Yes, it's just a flag.

  • HT201303 I never set up any security questions for my Apple ID and I was asked on the app store to sign in and answer my security questions. I never made security questions in the first case. I can't purchase anything without them. What should I do?

I never set up any security questions for my apple ID and I was asked on the app store to sign in and answer my security questions, I never made any in the first place and it came up with questions that I didn't know. I've already been in support and tried to reset them, but I have to answer the security questions in order to change them. Is there any way to find out what they are?

  • Kona 3 [and XENA] for FCP Questions

Is the XENA 2Ke compatible with the Macintosh platform and FCP, and if so which is the recommended version of OSX and FCP?
I have previously read someone stating that you can use this card on both platforms therefor negating the need to purchase a Mac only Kona 3.
I am doubtful of this however your immediate response / confirmation / denial of this is greatly appreciated.
    ALSO
Is anyone aware of news relating to an upgrade of the Kona 3 card [ie Kona 4 or a Mac and PC compatible XENA card]?
I am looking at assembling a new HD online capable suite in the next few weeks and am hoping to avoid purchasing ie a Kona 3 card just before the release of [theoretically] a Kona 4 card [possibly at NAB 08]. Being that 4K / Red post are and should be at a premium in the coming months I would like to assemble a post solution that can handle for example a short form 4K online [if possible].
I know I am dealing with a lot of what-ifs but for the investment I need to make I will be asking similar questions to these everywhere I can including the forums such as this.

Anyone / everyone please feel free to comment
    Hi Jerry
First and foremost, thank you very much for your detailed reply.
    1. Hmmmm. "AJA, is there something in the air too?" [lol].
I just love the thought of new gear and technology... and AJA furthering its hardware support of RED in FCP, looking forward to any NAB developments.
*2. Regarding the Xena-2Ke for Mac.* Just received a reply from AJA Tech Support stating the following:
    +"Hi Mitch,+
    +The Xena-2Ke is compatible with Mac OSX 10.3.x, 10.4.x and 10.5.x running+
    +the appropriate Kona 3 driver.+
+On the other hand A Kona 3 is not compatible with Windows.+
+Let us know if you have more questions.+
    +Thank you,+

*3. Monitoring 2K?* What are you using to monitor 2K, HD Jerry?
Many guys in similar situations to myself over here in Australia are using Apple Cinema Displays with a Decklink HD-Link Pro box for monitoring. Obviously the 30" Cinema Display has the resolution to handle 2K monitoring but is it suitable in your view?
Realistically I am looking at offering an immediate service based mainly on a HD offline / online workflow. I would however like to future proof myself as best I can by assembling hardware that can handle 2K with reliability, stability and to reasonable levels of accuracy and complexity.
*Up until now [NAB] I've been looking at something in the order of the following setup:*
    *Online Machine*
    Two 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (8-core)
    8gb RAM
    1TB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3GB/s
NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600 1.5GB (Stereo 3D, two dual-link DVI)
    One 16x SuperDrive
    AirPort Extreme card (Wi-Fi)
    Apple wireless Mighty Mouse
    Apple Wireless Keyboard
*Third Party Card / Hardware IO:*
    Kona 3 with K-Box
    *Offline Machine:*
    Two 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (8-core)
    4GB (2 x 1GB)
    1TB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3GB/s
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB (Two dual-link DVI)
    One 16x SuperDrive
    AirPort Extreme card (Wi-Fi)
    Apple wireless Mighty Mouse
    Apple Wireless Keyboard
    Monitoring:
JVC DT-V24L1DGE 1920x1080 Pro HD LCD with 1:1 pixel monitoring / no scaling and all the regular / required inputs and features
*BUP / Archival Purposes / Proofs:*
Lacie D2 Ext Blu Ray Burner
    Storage:
Caldigit's HD Pro OR G Technology's G Speed OR G Speed es [though not sold on G Speed es - great price point but really doesn't have the sustained drive speeds. Great for online SD, Pro Res and possibly basic DVCPro HD / HD Sequences etc. [www.g-technology.com states "Two G-SPEED eS units and the G-Tech PCIe RAID controller support all of the above plus 10-bit, 1080i/60 HD playback in RAID 0 or RAID 5 mode."]. Will be looking into the new Apple owned Promise RAIDs too; your thoughts on these? Unfortunately I don't really have the budget for SANman, X-Serve, Fibrejet etc solutions at present but for the right job, that would obviously change.
I really appreciate the idea of how you are working with 2K, though your description was not really that detailed it definitely sounds smooth. Do you think that I am heading in the right direction in your opinion with the gear I have in mind, and is the minimum 2K future proofing concept I have a valid one?
Thanks for taking the time to read this post, and hopefully reply to some or all.
