RMA Replacement Also Faulty?

Hey,
I just received my RMA board that I sent off before Christmas. They sent me back the same model, but a different board, so the previous one was obviously faulty beyond repair. The problem is, the replacement board seems to be displaying the same symptoms as the previous board...  Which is, no display from VGA to monitor, and no boot, or error codes.
So far, I have:
- Tried the CPU on another motherboard - works fine.
- Tried the GPU on another motherboard - works fine.
- Tried the RAM on another motherboard - works fine.
- Tried the PSU on another motherboard - works fine.
I have also:
- Tried a different CPU on this motherboard - but still no boot.
- Tried a different GPU on this motherboard  - still no boot
- Tried different RAM on this motherboard - still no boot.
- Tried reseating all the components one by one - still no boot.
- Tried resetting the CMOS and also reseated the battery, still no boot.
- Tried both the single RAM solution, followed by resetting the CMOS, but still no boot.
When I take out the RAM or the GPU, you will hear their respective beep codes. (3 long beeps for RAM and 1 long 2 short for VGA.) When I place them back in, the beeps go away but still, nothing happens. I have tried everything from trying the components on other motherboards, to trying completely different parts on this board to no avail.
Any advice?

Do you have a problem with Google and looking up simple things like that for yourself?
No Henry, I don't. I think you misunderstood the question. I asked if the board was 45nm ready... Not 45nm compatible. The replacement board was 45nm compatible, but it wasn't 45nm ready. (which requires a spare CPU to install in order to update the BIOS - which I no longer have.)

Does the BIOS version on the boards BIOS chip actually show it has V2.1, or was that the version of the board before the replacement? Unless the replacement board physically has V2.1 on it, the E7400 is not going to be supported.

I have replaced my faulty hard drive on my macbook air 1.1 with a new ssd, I need to reinstall the original software, where can I find this on the apple site?

There is no download for the software.  The factory software that you are looking for is called ilife.  It is all of the software that would have came preinstalled with your mac on your original hard drive when you first bought it.  You will have to get new software on your computer.  This might actually be a great opurtunity to upgrade to Lions.  Search the Lions software in the mac store and it will come up.  Click add to cart and check out.  The price for it is $20.  I defientely recomend Lions, it has alot of new great features.  Then wate for the install disk to come in the mail.  when it come just pop it in and follow the step by step instructions.  If you dont want to upgrade to lions however you can download the ilife package from apple.com for a small price.  Hope this helps.

  • Request for Procedure to replace a faulty hard disk on X1070 hardware

                       Hi,
Can I get a procedure document on how to replace a faulty hard disk setup up in RAID 1+0 configuration and the applaince is setup to be part of a cluster.
    Regards,
    Many Thanks

Were you able to get the information you need on the faulty drive?  The drives are hot swappable, except on X150/X160 appliances.  Replacing the drive should automatically kick off the rebuild, and should not have any impact on clustering.
Just open a support case with TAC, and we can swap out the drive, if you are still under contract.
Incase the full KB article was reachable...
The full eKB can be found:

The drives on a 1U IronPort appliance will no longer be replaced.  Instead, a replacement device will be shipped for any RAID issues.  This applies to the C1xx, M160 and S160 devices.
To replace a drive on a 2U IronPort appliance:
       1. While the system is running normally, unlatch the original drive and slide it out.
       2. Slide in the replacement drive and latch it into place.
To replace a drive on C170 and S170, please kindly see the below document link:
    KB article 1815
After a short time, the lights will begin blinking indicating the RAID container is being rebuilt. While the rebuild is happening, you may receive more RAID alerts - this is normal. The rebuild may slow mail throughput on busier systems, but otherwise has no effect on normal operations. This process can take a few hours. After it is completed, the RAID alerts should no longer occur unless there is a new issue.
Note: If two or more drives have failed, replace only one drive at a time! Do not replace the next drive until the Rebuild is complete. This can be monitored from the 'version' CLI command
Note: For instructions on how to return IronPort hardware, see KB article 138.
    Hope this helps!

  • 925XE Neo Platinum-54G - 2nd RMA replacement, board locks up

I would really appreciate any assistance anyone can provide about the problems I'm having with this mobo, I'm ready to toss it. This one is the 3rd RMA replacement; the first one failed within 7 months of purchase and the replacement that MSI sent for that one failed within 3 months after receiving it. The current board locks up my system after boot; the time to lock up is anywhere from 15 seconds to 3 minutes. I have hooked up only bare minimum components to the board to reduce the possibility that it's a compnent issue, but everything else in my system has been working fine. System specs are:
Intel 3.2 ghz single core proc
    Geil DDR2 SDRAM 533 (PC2 4300) 3 x 1gig sticks
Sapphire RADEON 7000 64meg PCI video card
Creative Soundlbaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card
Maxtor DiamondMax 200gig SATA drive (3x)
Let me know what other information you might need to help. Thank you to anyone that can help.

Memtest ran for 8 1/2 hours, here is what is hightlighted in red below the test data:
Tst    Pass    Failing Address                 Good                  Bad                  Err-Bits            Count    Chan

  • CD/DVD Optical drive appears and then disappears, replacement also does not show up

    My laptop: HP Pavilion dv9601AU
I have read a similar post here but my problem is different. My problem is that the DVD drive *sometimes* show up in My Computer and *sometimes* dont. Even the BIOS does not detect it.  When I formatted my laptop with Windows 7, to my surprise it was gone. But it appeared again and I somehow installed all the required drivers from my driver DVD.... then it dissapered again. It never came back.
Failed attempt 1: I tried to re-format the PC using virtual drive but the problem persists.
Failed attempt 2: Thinking it to be a physical loose connection, I took it to local HP service station, they removed the drive, put it back firmly, but in vain.
Failed attempt 3: They attached other similar optical drive but to my surprise, the new drive was also not detected.
Failed attempt 4: I tried Microsoft's "Fix It" thing and also read about removing "upper filters" and "lower filters" in registry. However, I didnt have any of those filters entry in the first place so no question about making changes to the registry.
    Facts:
    1) The drivers are installed. There should not be any problem with the drivers.
    2) The lens is perfect. I was able to install all the drivers from DVD when the drive appeared for a short period of time.
    3) The HP logo tht appears upon starting the laptop lingers for a longer period of time compared to what it was doing so when the drive was fine.
    4) The boot menu does not show the optical drive.
    5) I live in India where normal room temperatures go upto 42 degrees Celcius and my laptop gets much much warm most of the times. I think some damage has been done to the internal circuitry.
Please, if somebody can provide me a solution to this. How can I get back my DVD Drive working. The support personnel here are having no clue (especially after learning the fact that their new optical drive also didnt show up) I hope I get some guidance from you guys as what should I do next. Please help me.

I am having the exact same problem with my customer's dvd drive sometimes showing up during boot (BIOS) and sometimes not. Also ran full system diagnostic software and everything else tests fine, although the drive is not showing present. I have also tried 2 different drives but they do the same thing. I would go on to say that if you always left the dvd drive out of the laptop, your boot problems would probably go away. This would then tell you that it's not your drive at all, but the connections on the MOBO or the traces (wires) connecting the drive to the MOBO.
I work on computers and have for several years and most times this is related to a MOBO issue since that is the only item left in this situation. You know it's not the drive since it's been replaced with the same issue so drivers/firmware are not the case. I am assuming you have already updated the BIOS as well,  but this shouldn't matter. There could be a dirty contact, faulty component, or a bad trace (wire) on the MOBO which is almost always harder to fix and is better to just replace the MOBO. However, replacing the MOBO is usually expensive when you have to buy the part and then pay someone to install it making it not usually the best option. Even if it is a dirty contact, it was probably caused by something that was spilled which could cause problems later. In this case, I am probably just going to recommend disabling the internal dvd drive and buying a slim external usb dvd drive, and then saving their money for a new laptop. You will still have to wait through a slower boot while staring at the HP screen, but I don't think replacing the MOBO is the most economical thing to do, unless you are the manufacturer and have several laying around.
I know this isn't good news, but it is what I've found to be the case in my experiences. Anybody else care to chime in?

  • Stupid O2 rule on iphone 3g replacements when faulty

    HI
I got my iPhone 3g in FEB 09. and I was having a few problems and the aol account password problem. So last week I took it in for repair.
I got another iphone back which from what I can make out is a refurb.
it starts with a 5 on the serial number.
but the point is this iphone did not even last 24 hours. i was able to restore it after it restarted and locked up at apple boot logo. i was playing the game cops and robbers on it at the time
Ather the rstore i started the reinstall of apps etc and it restarted part wa into the install. and locked up again
The day after I was able to enter recovery mode again and restored it again. but his time when it came to install apps it did a kernal panic and put up a load of text.
I told 02 i wanted a brand new handset as I was not happy the one i got was faulty more than mine was. but i was told NO, 02 do not give out new one's as it was in there terms that they do not.
Is it me or am I getting conned I am not willing to pay £810 for what is a secondhand phone.
I keep trying to look for the terms on 02 website but it keeps saying its down.
And what really stinks is I was told that if I had taken out insurance with 02 i would have got a new iPhone.

Annoying as it is, it is within the law to replace faulty handsets that are within their warranty period with referb units. However you are entitled to a fully working replacement, and not some half working dodgy returned iPhone.
When my iPhone broke I didn't take it to an O2 retail store like Apple Care and O2 said over the phone; instead I took a risk and went to an Apple Retail Store to see if they could offer a replacement.
I organised an appointment online, went in, and within 3 minutes a chap was in his drawer getting out a "new" iPhone. A complete swap, little questions asked - right in front of me. I was out the store within 20 mins.
O2 in comparison told me for sure that I would be without an iPhone for weeks whilst it was away for repair. Also they would send it to a 3rd party repair house - this didn't sound good.
The Apple Retail store on the other hand was a seamless experience.
I would recommend giving them a try.
My replacement didn't look like a refurbished handset, but who knows, I guess it was. No probs yet (apart from c**p battery after 3.0)

  • Will Apple replace a faulty lightning cable that was purchased separate from iPhone?

I bought an iPhone 5 along with a spare lightning cable from Apple's website in September. Since then BOTH lightning cables have failed, and there is NO sign of physical damage or abuse on either one. I called AppleCare, and they agreed to replace the one that came with the iPhone, but the senior advisor I spoke with rudely told me the one that was bought "separately" for $19 cannot be replaced, nor refund issued. I thought that it would be covered under manufacture's warranty. I've also heard rumours that if you take a faulty accessory to a genius bar they will gladly swap it out for a new one. Only problem is I don't live near an Apple Store. I was thinking about calling AppleCare back and see if I don't have better luck with a different rep. Any thoughts on this?

    From Apple's warranty page.
Your Apple-branded hardware product is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of original retail purchase ("Warranty Period"). If a defect arises during the Warranty Period, Apple, at its option and to the extent permitted by law will (1) repair the product at no charge using new parts or parts that are equivalent to new in performance and reliability, (2) exchange the product with a functionally equivalent product that is new or equivalent to new in performance and reliability, or (3) refund the original purchase price. This warranty excludes damage resulting from abuse, accident, modifications or other causes that are not defects in materials and workmanship.
If you choose to call applecare, they can arrange to ship you a replacement, but you will have to agree to a "hold" on a credit card until the defective cable is received back to the factory.

  • Replacement Micro - Faulty Already

Hi, further to my previous posts regarding my faulty Micro, which upset SSR and Creative.
I paid the P&P for my 3 Month old Micro to be sent for repair due to the famous 'lock up' fault.
Which, incidentally, is contrary to UK Sale of Goods Act as I previously stated, it should not cost the purchaser to obtain warranty repairs.
Recei'ved a Brand New replacement this morning, good service, only took 6 days.
Problem is, straight out of the box, has a different fault - Wont Switch Off !!
Now, with so many faults and problems, is it correct to assume that the Micro is not fit for the purpose for which it was purchased, mine certainly is not.
So SSR, tell me its just bad luck I suppose, What Next?
    regards MH

    mhayward259 wrote:
First of all why in Gods name would I waste my time making up something like this, and who the hell do you think you are to accuse me of same?
People do it all the time. I haven't accused you of it as such, just that it's a possibility. I have no way to check Creative's RMA numbers.
Are you so smitten with Creative that you fail to understand, we are having serious problems here, I am not the only member of the Multiple RMA Club, so read and believe.
We've already gone through the reasons, several times, why people post with problems here. Surely we don't need to do it again?
Are you so anti-Creative that you need to post it in every thread you come across? It works both ways.
As I stated previously I have had to pay for my Micro to be returned, now I have to pay again to get the new one replaced and I havent even used it yet.
This is contrary to the UK Sale of Goods Act as I previously stated, yet you refused to believe me.
You have to pay the POSTAGE to send it to Creative, and that should be all, just to be accurate here. In fact I've seen various cases where after sending it back once Creative will pay the postage for future events. If you have an issue with this then take it to UK Trading Standards if you really want to further it. I've had to return to various companies and have paid the postage e.g. eBuyer, whether I should have done or not. I do know of companies that will pay the postage to return an item e.g. Maxtor.
Dont talk to me about reseating the battery and simple stuff like that, and oh yes it does have the latest firmware too, as one would expect with a brand new machine direct from Creative Repair Agent.
You don't even mention what you've tried to do to solve it, and I offered help. I won't bother in future. Again, you do yourself no favours.

  • Iphone 5 makes a rattling noise from day 1, the replacement also makes this similar noise. customer care can provide me with another replacement but can not promise if the new replacement will have this noise or not. can i get a refund ?

my iphone 5 from day one makes a rattling noise when you shake the device.
the replacement i recieved also makes the similar rattling noise, apple calls it a "common problem" and says its the autofocus of the camera which makes the noise, but people i know are not experiencing any such noise in their evices, hence its not their in all the iphone.
honestly investing Rs 45000 in india i dont expect my device to have a stupid defect as this one,
In my latest conversation i have had with a senior representative of apple care iv been given an option to have anpther replacement but they cant promise me that the new replacemnt will have no such rattling noise it might be even worse.
since apple cant promise me a replacement without any such noise and my device is not even 90 days old, and since apple calls it a common problem in iphone5 is it possible that they give me replacement of 5c or 5s and il pay the difference in price or just have a refund ? since they cant provide me with a solution and keeping this device with this defect is not a solution with me.

Sorry if it's over 14 days apple does not refund the device, just sit tight and keep on asking for a device that doesn't rattle, be firm but polite about your position on the matter.
    Politeness works wonders

  • New battery fitted recently to replace a faulty one (allegedly). Battery has since been on 1% but lasted all day, I charged it every night to ensure it would not go off. Ran ios 6.0.2 update and now phone will not restart or charge and i cant restore HELP

Says it all in the question really, but just to clarify: Once upon a time I took out a contract and got my very own  iphone4s more or less straightaway I could tell the battery charge was faulty, I was told by a member of the genius bar that this was normal, it wasnt normal  I could literally watch it count down and it just got worse. It got to the point where I couldnt use the phone anymore so after taking it to various places I had the battery replaced (all in all this cost around £100) and it worked 'normally' for about half a day until the phone suddenly reached 1% and has stayed at this % ever since- not ideal but it would stay on all day and ive managed to use the phone fine. I would keep it charged overnight as i usually would but even after 8 hours of charging it still said 1%, I downloaded battery apps they all told me the battery was empty even when it was still on 1%. Lastnight I decided to update to i.0.s 6.0.2 I kept it on charge to do it but when it went to restart it would not  turn back on. Im now stuck with a phone that actually has a new battery but the phone somehow doesn't recognise that it has a battery, I can't restore on itunes as it will not charge at all not even to get the apple symbol. Ive spent alot of money trying to resolve this already and have been told that the battery is not covered with the warranty so I wondered if anyone had any ideas?

Unless Apple replaced your battery, and it appears they didn't, you're pretty much on your own now. Have you tried going back to whoever replaced your battery? That's gonna be your only choice now, because if a third-party replaced your battery, Apple won't touch your phone now.

  • How to replace a faulty iPhone4 in India (purchased in another country, still in warranty?)

I would like to know how to find a replacement for a faulty iPhone4 in India (purchased in another country, which is still under warranty?)
    Please help. Thankx.

Expanding on what RG said, the warranty on an iPhone, with the exception of those purchased in the European Union, is country-specific, so you will need to send the iPhone back to a friend or relative in the country in which the iPhone was original sold to take or send it to Apple or the appropriate service provider. You will not be able to get the iPhone serviced in India.
    Regards.
