Roles of IIS and Apache services in HFM.

Hi,
Can any one tell me the roles of Apache and IIS services pertaining to HFM.
when i open the httpd.conf file of apache, it says port values changed from 80 to 19000,
i can access workspace on 19000, as well as on 45000. is it because of Apache or IIS?
i am unable to track the flow of the processes,
Any help would be appreciated.

The role of IIS is your choice. It depends on what web server you want to use. In this case, you chose the Apache web server, which IMO, is much easier to deal with and configure, not to mention much more stable, than IIS5 or 6.
Now, HFM and Smartview (asp.net application) are hosted using IIS. The only role it looks like IIS will be playing in your configuration will be that of hosting both of these.
Do not forget to go to the httpd.conf file for the Apache web server (located under LocalDrive:\Hyperion\common\httpservers\apache\...\conf\) and make sure an entry is set in there for a proxy redirect to the hfm.conf file)
Then under the same folder, the hfm.conf file should have listed the url to your hfm server. Sometimes even under automatic configuration, this file is not properly configured, and it lists the redirect to go to the Workspace server, which will never work because it is not the hfm server usually.

  • IIS and Apache

Is there any posssible way that I can use Internet Information Service Instead of Apache to access isqlplus webpage? Thanx!

There is both a version of PHP and mySQL for Windows. There
is no need to run two servers at the same time and I would not run
it off the same machine unless you plan on isolating the two
servers on the machine through VMWare or a similar solution and
this is assuming you would have dual ethernet ports on your
    server.

Have you checked the Print Service log in event viewer?
    Here's How.
I have the Microsoft XPS driver on my clients, so I use that fact to my advantage below.
Click Start Button/Administrative Tools/Remote Desktop Services/Remote Desktop Services Manager on the RDSH server
Click the Sessions tab.  PC’s are listed Under Client Name by their computer name.  Take Note of the corresponding
ID.  We will use this to locate the Printer information in the Event Log.
In the Event Log open Application and Services Logs/Microsoft/Windows/Print Service/Admin/ and Find the Event ID 823 entry that has the corresponding ID from the sessions tab you previously noted.
This Event Log Entry is created at Logon and you can only get the session ID when they are logged in.
This tells you what client printer was mapped for the client.  The name that appears is the name of the Printer that was set on the client when the printer was installed.
See if you see any errors here.
If you see Event Id 823 with the following message “The default printer was changed to Microsoft XPS Document Writer,winspool,Ne00:. See the event user data for context information.”  Twice in a row with no other messages in between, and the first occurs
at the time the user logged in, then their printer was not properly redirected.
You see the Microsoft XPS driver mapped for each session prior to Easy Print redirecting the client machine’s Default Printer.
Since your printer is the HP 1020 I would bet the driver on the client does not work with Easyprint.  I would try the  the HP Universal Print Driver or the driver for a printer that is very close, like the HP 1018.
    Thanks,

"Could not start Apache Tomcat service on Local Computer. Error 1069. The service could not start due to log on failure"
The below account has been verified in the Domain controller and confirmed that the account is not Locked out or disabled.

    Can someone advice ...

What OS version?  This might be a windows problem and not a Apache/Jaguar problem.

  • Installing Coldfusion 9 and Apache 2.2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard

I'm having issues getting ColdFusion 9 working with Apache 2.2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard.
The server is brand new and it's a fresh install of Apache and ColdFusion 9.
Having installed Apache, I tested the web server and it was working fine, so I proceeded to install ColdFusion 9. I attempted to restart the Apache server through the Apache Service monitor, only to get the error dialog box 'The requested operation has failed'.
On closer examination of the Windows error log, I saw the following error:
The Apache service named  reported the following error: >>>
httpd.exe: Syntax error on line 488 of C:/Program Files (x86)/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load C:/ColdFusion9/runtime/lib/wsconfig/1/mod_jrun22.so into server: The Apache service named is not a valid Win32 application.
I updated the ColdFusion installation to 9.0.1 in case there was an issue with version 9.0 and Apache. Still no joy.
After a bit of research, I thought perhaps there was an issue with the mod_jrun22.so file (since when I commented out the reference to that file from the Apache config file, the Apache HTTP server started without any problem). I tried replacing the mod_jrun22.so with the 32 bit version (extracted from the wsconfig.jar file), but that made no difference either.
I have tried a number of things. I have run wsconfig and uninstalled all web server connectors and then re-created them.
I have to use Apache and IIS is not an option (I use rewrite rules extensively in an existing live installation and have many sites set up in a vhosts file), so please - no suggestions to use IIS instead.
The system requirements on http://www.adobe.com/sea/products/coldfusion/systemreqs/ state that Coldfusion 9 will work with Apache 2.2.17 and later on Windows 64 bit, so why am I having issues with a brand-new installation on a 'virgin' server?
Any help would be much appreciated. I have spent hours trawling the Web for solutions.

I missed an important detail in my opening post. My Coldfusion 9 version is 64 bit - not 32.
OK. Simple solution to this. I'll put it here for other peoples' reference.
To cut a long story short, after phoning Adobe support this morning I was told that you can't run a 64 bit version of ColdFusion with a 32 bit web server. In essence, the web server software and the ColdFusion server software must be the same - either 32 or 64 bit.
Apache is only officially released as a 32 bit version, but there is a 64 bit unofficial version available from http://www.blackdot.be/?inc=apache/binaries, so I downloaded that and installed it, based on the instructions at http://www.elxis.org/guides/developers-guides/64bit-apache-php-mysql-windows.html.
Once I'd installed the 64bit version of Apache, the installation of Coldfusion 9 64 bit went smoothly and all appears to be working just fine now (well, I can get to the ColdFusion Administrator page and I have successfully updated the server software to ColdFusion 9.0.1).
The fact that you can't mix different 'bit' versions of software in this way may be obvious, but it wasn't obvious to me. Having been an early adopter of a 64 bit version of Vista on my own PC, I never experienced these kind of problems before. Software installed itself into the corresponding locations on my PC without any problem and just worked. This is the first time I've run into this problem.
Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any information regarding this very important requirement on the system requirements pages, so I suggested to the support engineer that he may want to make the recommendation that the page is amended to clarify the situation: e.g.
IMPORTANT: 64 bit versions of ColdFusion require 64 bit versions of web server software to function. You can not mix 32 bit and 64 bit versions of web servers and ColdFusion server.
Hope this helps someone else out.

  • CF + Flex 2.0.1 + Server 2003 + (IIS? Apache? My/MS SQL?)

I've been playing with CF/Apache2.2/Flex2.0.1 for a few
months and I finally bit the bullet and bought it all
    (CF/Flex/Server 2003)...and F8 and PSCS2...to finish my,
    unfortunately one-and-only-serious computer (dual 200-series
Opteron). So, until now, I've used the trials of Flex/CF on what I
thought would be the cat's *** OS (XP64) but it blows (sorry MS:()
so I bought Server 2003. After going through the rigamaroll of
registering for the 180 trial originally, I removed 2003 fairly
quickly. But it seems, according to spec, to be the best choice, 32
    bit, for CF.
I've been using a combination of Apache2.2 and MySQL 5 (with
the hotfixes). But now that I have spent my unborn child's RESP
deposit, I want to make sure I'm doing it the right way.
My PLAN is to do the build like this, and I'd really
appreciate any feedback, because over the last few months, I've
found that many things can go wrong.
Server 2003, turn off IIS. Run Apache 2.2. Run CF under that
(Standard edition CF MX7.0.2). And the scary part, never even SEEN,
let alone used, is MS SQL, the free/4Gb limit version.
I don't know if I would be better off to scrap Apache,
because it's been bullet proof for me for years with PHP and MySQL,
and now with CF/MySQL. But what would the best 'occasionally minor
production, mostly non-critical/development' setup be for a Web
Server. I'm not an expert, and I know squat about IIS.
I also would (in ignorance) assume MS SQL is going to run
much better on IIS, and might even not work properly under Apache.
Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. I've
everything still in the boxes for the worst case (take it back and
    get 'this') scenario.
Would I be saving myself some grief if I asked a pro to come
in and do it, for a fee?
It's strictly for my personal development at this stage, but
I'd like to get some jobs, maybe hosting 1-2 semi-serious apps that
in one case at least (for my employer), will need to be secure
(Financial services regulation for a Members-only Site, i.e.,
sensitive financial data entered on a pre-production server at work
for which my system would serve as the development system, most
    likely with live data).
My PERSONAL aim is a fully db-driven, fully-Flex/F8 and fully
CF set of sites, along the lines of hosting the pet projects I have
for my photographer friends. I want my galleries to be among the
best on the net, bar none.
Sorry for the very long post, I am just staring at all these
boxes, and am afraid to even open Server 2003 or look into IIS/MS
SQL until I hear from some of you who might have something pithy to
    say.
    Thanks for baring with me.
    Shawn.

    >>That data base is fine for a development environment.
    Thanks edbrendel.
So, since I am able to run Apache 2.2 as I want to, would I
be better of to use MySQL 5 or MS SQL Express if I want it to be
largely development, but also for my own stuff (my galleries etc.)
actually running pages served to the web?
I know of the technotes, a couple of them (incl. the MySQL
note on installing V. 5 as a datasource and all that), but never
saw that one...so thanks very much. I've manually added the Apache
2.2 file line in httpd.conf and added the file in the config area,
which always worked in the past with XP Pro and XP64...hope it does
with 2003 I had 2003 server when I first started playing, it was a
nightmare, I hope now that I've bought everything I can wrap my
head around it!). I just make sure I don't try to configure CF
until after manually adding the files, and changing the Apache
config file and restarting. Then I go into the administrator for
    the first time.

  • Correct idea to scale out testing environment and test service pack2 installation

    Hi
I have a sharepoint 2010 farm it has one sharepoint server, one database server
In one server  below services are running
    Central administration service
    SharePoint Server Search
    User Profile Service
    Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application
so i want to scale out this form  to
    1 application server
    1 web front end server
    1 Search server (index server)
    1 databse server
here how i scale out to this form
1)here how i move  sharepoint  server search service to new  index server and
    2) here how i move  Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application to new webfront end server
and in this single server  some web appllications are running also how i move these to new wf server
i want to do like this  because i want to test service pack 2 installation, now  sharepoint version is : service pack1
    my actual production environment has
    2 application servers
    2 webfront end servers
    2 index servers
    1 databae server
so this correct idea to scale out testing environment and test service pack2 installation
    adil

    Hi Adil,
The link below describes how to scale SharePoint Web Front-End with only web applications and the search query server  out of one SharePoint server with all roles running.
    http://sharepointsolutions.com/sharepoint-help/blog/2011/02/how-to-scale-out-a-sharepoint-2010-farm-from-two-tier-to-three-tier-by-adding-a-dedicated-application-server/
Now you have two SharePoint server with:
Tier 1 – SharePoint Server dedicated as a Web Front-End (WFE) with only the web application(s) and the search query service running on it
Tier 2 – SharePoint Server dedicated as an Application Server with all of the other service applications running on it, but no web applications or query service
Tier 3 – SQL Server for the databases
Then you would scale out WFE server with web applications from tier1. Now please install a new SharePoint server and join it to the existing farm and deploy it as Web Front Server. Enable the relevant services on Web Front servers per the topology picture
below, and stop the services running on the old server.

I'm totally stumped. Why do I suddenly get an HTTP connection error code 403 after a dozen valid calls? Any help appreciated.
    Dave

    Hello
I think that something has changed in your environment between the moment the system was working and now that you get the HTTP-403 error.
As you probably know the DB call is doing a simple HTTP call, so I believe the issue is coming from the URL that you are using that is probably now invalid.
Could you take the furl URLs (WSDL and endpoint) and see from the server what will be the HTTP call result ? (directly from a browser or telnet session)

  • Installing second Exchange server 2010 with all roles (CAS, HT and MB) in the same domain?!

    Dear all,
first of all thanks for reading this topic :-)
In our enviroment, we have a Exchange 2010 server (Version: 14.01.0438.000), whitch is installed with all server roles (CAS, HT and MB) on one server(OS is Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise). This exchange server sends all external mails to a smarthost (Redddox).
We are using Outlook Anywhere, Active Sync and OWA.
Now, we need to migrate this Exchange server to another one, because we think, that the server´s OS is corrupt and also, there are wrong licenses installed. The "new" server will have the same OS Version and Exchange Version (2010).
Currently I´m a little afraid, to install a new one - because I think when I will install the CAS and HT role, something will happen in my productive enviroment (Autodiscover, SMTP Connectors, Cerficates a.s.o.).
To install the mailbox role, I think this will not affect anything.
Can you help me a little bit in what to take care of? Do I need to preconfigure something, before I will install the second exchange? What about the version / service pack of Exchange to install? Must it be the same as installed on the first one?
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Jennie

    Hi Jennie,
Below are the steps if you are not planning to upgrade.
    1) Install new Exchange2010-SP3 Server all roles Please check
    this
    2) Install the certificate in the new server by requesting a duplicate from the 3rdparty CA. Or export from the existing Exchange 2010 and import to the new one. Please check
    this
    3) Set your autodoscover, OAB, ECP, OWA URLs same as the current Exchange. Below artciles will help you to do that.
For OAB, Autodiscover, EWS please check steps 5,6,7in this
For setting OWA and ECP URLs please check
    this.
    4) Move few mailboxes as a test and check. If no errors move the rest.
    5) Move your OAB generation server to the new server. Please check
    this
    6) Move you public folder contents to the new server you have. Please check
    this
    7) Configure your firerwall to receive emails on the new server and other services like EWS, OWA, ActiveSync.
    8)
Add the new server as the source server and in the current send connector and remove the old server from the send connector.
Shutdown the server for a couple of days and monitor. So you will know if you missed something.
Uninstall Exchange2010 from the add remove programs.
    Thanks, MAS

  • Crystal Reports 2008 and Sharepoint Services in 64bit

    Hi,
I have searched and post questions about the problems with the fact that thera are no great support for 64 bit. And still no solution. Why? Why? Why?
Now to my question. I have Crystal Reports 2008 in a Windows 2008 64 bit. Yes, I have got it running with the help of: Enable32bitAppOnWin64. But now to my problem...
I want to run Sharepoint Services 3.0 on the same server. But read on Microsoft.com:
The hardware and software requirements described in this article apply to both x32-bitu2013based and x64-bitu2013based systems. However, if you installed the 64-bit version of Windows Server 2008 and then modified the Enable32bitAppOnWin64 registry key so that Internet Information Server (IIS) is running in 32-bit emulation mode, you cannot install Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. To install either 32-bit or 64-bit Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 you must run IIS in 64-bit mode.
Does this means that I cannot run my webapp and Sharepoint Services on the same machine just because you havent find any solution to the 64-bit problem? What to do???
    /R

    Raymond,
We have 64 bit runtime for Crystal Reports Basic that comes with Visual Studio .NET 2008. The version number for CR Basic is 10.5.
It sounds like you are out of luck if you want to use Crystal Reports XI R2 or Crystal Reports 2008 because there are no plans to release native 64 bit assemblies in those versions.

  • Not able to access the links to Essbase Console, Planning and Shared Servic

    Hi,
I am trying to access the links to Essbase Console, Planning and Shared Services but I get the following error message.
    Error 404--Not Found
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    10.4.5 404 Not Found
The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.
If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.
I tried to restart all the services on all the servers and also restarted the servers but it didn't work.
I found some more errors in the starter file on the Linux box.
