Roll back segments into READ-ONLY Mode

To bring an v8 database into READ-ONLY Mode do we need to put the Roll back tablespace RBS also into READ-ONLY Mode?

You can put database in READ ONLY mode in Oracle 8i
READ ONLY / READ WRITE Example
The first statement below opens the database in read-only mode.
The second statement returns the database to read-write mode and clears the online redo logs:
ALTER DATABASE OPEN READ ONLY;
ALTER DATABASE OPEN READ WRITE RESETLOGS;---

  • How can I put Planning into Read Only Mode ?

    We need to backup our Essbase cubes to tape every night. How can I update Oracle HSP* tables so that I put Planning into Read Only Mode ? I want to prevent Asia and Europe users from updating Planning while Essbase is in READ-ONLY mode (BEGINARCHIVE).

    Hi,
    You should put the planning application in Maintenance mode if you are doing any backups, this can be done from planning web.
    Select Administration > Application Settings.
    For Show, select Advanced Settings.
    Click Go.
    Select System Settings.
    For Application Maintenance Mode, select an option for Enable Use of the Application For:
    All users —All users can log on to the application or continue working with the application if they are currently logged on.
    Administrators —Only other administrators can log on. Other users are forced off and prevented from logging on until the option is reset to All Users.
    Owner —Only the application owner can log on. All other users are prevented from logging on. If they are currently logged on, they are forced off the system until the option is reset to All Users or Administrators. Only the application owner can restrict other administrators from using the application.
    Hope this helps

  • Resuming from pm-suspend puts my EXT4 filesystem into Read Only mode

    As the title says, I'm having some issues with pm-suspend. A little info on my computer:
    I'm running x86 Arch Linux on a Toshiba NB500 netbook.
    The netbook has no hard drive in it. Arch is installed to an off the shelf USB drive.
    As I write this, my install is up to date (just pacman -Syu'd)
    Running kernel 2.6.39-ARCH
    Here's what happens when I run `pm-suspend`
    # pm-suspend

    My theory is: The laptop is waking up before the USB drive gets a chance to spin up.
    If I'm correct, my idea is to find a way to have pm-utils set a priority on my USB interface in the resume stage so the USB can wake up before Arch continues trying to bring everything else up - Something I have no idea how to do.
    Any thoughts?
    EDIT: Spelling. Sorry for the huge log... Figured the quote tags would have a max-height set on them.

    Hello fellow Archers.
    Just to check if this issue was resolved as I'm having the same issue in a very similar scenario (I'm using Arch from an SD Card).
    My netbook is an Asus 1201n sporting simple Openbox WM (with latest 3.0-ARCH kernel and updates) and I installed acpid, acpi-eeepc-generic package from AUR and laptop-mod-tools and configured as per the 1201NL wiki page and also read the acpid and pm-utils wiki pages.
    My logs are pretty similar to OP's.
    Let me know if this was already solved and/or if you need additional info to help us troubleshoot this issue.
    Thanks.

    Edit: Adding some more details.

  • The Index Server is in Read Only Mode

    Hi,
    In our test environment ALL of our jobs are failing. The message in every failed Job Log is:
    11/18/05 10:25:15- Starting to run operations (1 total) for job 'Search Update 2 - Run Once'. Will stop on errors. has anybody seen this before, and how can I correct it?
    Thanks,Shawn

    The search server goes into read only mode in response to certain error conditions.  Simply restart the service to put the search server back into R/W mode.  The server will attempt to self repair on startup.  You should review your recent search server logs to see if there are errors that may have caused the transition to read only mode.  If problems persist, contact tech support for further assistance in troubleshooting.

  • Read-Only mode for a Essbase DB

    Is the a way to put my Essbase Db with Historical values in read-only?, I found that the Maxl Archieve option will do but I don't know if this is only for backup.
    Regards,
    Antonio

    If you want to put the entire database into read-only mode, SoL (love that name) gave you the right direction.
    If you only want to put part of the database into read-only mode, e.g., 2007 through 2009 data, you can use READ filters to do this.
    Have a read here on the theory: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/esb_dbag/dsefilt.htm
    Have a look here on how to do it: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/eashelp/crtfilt.htm

  • API0259: The object cannot be edited in Read-Only mode!

    All,
    I'm getting the following error when trying to import an MDL file into my repository:
    API0259: The object cannot be edited in Read-Only mode!
    Does anyone know what this relates to?

    Hmmmm, sounds like it is hanging up on a conflict with the configuration name from your source repository and the configuration names in your target. Not sure that I have time to try and replicate that on my own system today.
    What I might suggest you try is to, on your source, set the project configuration back to the standard "DEFAULT_CONFIGURATION", get your module configured to use it, and re-export the mapping. Then you can fix your configuration back to where it should be.
    Do the same re-configuration on the target prior to import and see if that resolves the problem.
    Now, clearly this is not optimal and it would be really nice to find out WHY the conflict is occurring, but it would at least get this mapping imported for now.
    Mike
    And Vader, it is not that I don't have full faith that Oracle always raises the correct error message for a problem..... but, well, I've USED Oracle for too many years not to consider the possibility.
    Case in point in OWB, try putting an invalid value into the OWB-supplied WB_Date_From_Julian function
    e.g. select WB_Date_From_Julian(-1) from dual;
    10:55:12 Error: ORA-21000: error number argument to raise_application_error of -1854 is out of range
    ORA-06512: at "OWB_MGR.WB_DATE_FROM_JULIAN", line 7
    because some bright puppy at Oracle decided to try and raise an Oracle Built-in Error via raise_application_error instead of just using "raise", and - of course - the Oracle error code isn't within the allowable range.
    Error messages are nice, but you can't always trust 'em - which is why I look to expanded possibilities when neccessary.

  • ALV: columns in read-only mode look like editable columns in edit mode

    Hi,
    My application contains an ALV table which should be toggled between display and edit mode like the rest of the fields.
    The evident solution was to use
    if_salv_wd_table_settings~set_read_only( abap_true or abap_false)
    However, unlike the rest of the fields, when the application changes into display mode and the fields get grey like in any SAP application, the columns in the table which were editable remain white, and those which were not editable and thus grey, get now white, too, instead of the other way round. So it will look to the normal user, as if now all columns would be editable!
    Of course, he would realize that they are not when he tries to edit them, but this is irritating.
    See following link with screenshots (only active for 3 weeks from now on):
    [Link to my webmail space/SDN: .|https://businesswebmail.telekom.at/filestorage/MzYxMTk1OTMx/]
    I have looked
    through my books ("Einstieg in Web Dynpro for ABAP", "Praxisbuch Webdynpro for ABAP", ...)
    through the wiki for Webdynpro for ABAP here in SDN as well as through this forum (by searching with "ALV edit")
    through the notes in BC-WD-CMP-ALV
    but could not find any solution. Most tables in those PDF articles found here in the WD4A wiki also show white cells although they are probabliy in read-only mode (e.g. the imitation of the SE16N browser article).
    The attributes to the LO_CELL_EDITOR for both Inputfields and textview columns contain exactly the same values when toggling between display and edit mode (read-only in table settings), so also no chance to change here anything.
    Also changing the cell design is not a solution as there is no design that looks like grey for not editable according to WDUI_TABLE_CELL_DESIGN  ([SAP Help - WDUI_TABLE_CELL_DESIGN|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/56/5e9041d3c72e7be10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm].
    I do not know if I have made an error, as this is my 3rd Web Dynpro (after the first 2 of the introduction book), or SAP is really inconsistent in User interface between "normal" fields and ALV table fields.
    Can you please help me?
    Thanks in advance,
    Erlend

    Hi,
    In my application aslo, i have 30 columns out of which 10 are input fields. But, i'm showing the table as ABAP_TRUE incase of Non-editable otherwise to abap_false. Now i'm getting everything as in WHITE cells.
    Do you want to show it is Grey mode with Non-editable feature. Is that so.
    How many columns are there which has Input fields.
    Get the column references.
    Now, based on the mode of display create the object as Input or Textview field.
    For that column -
    If mode eq 'D'.
    Create an object for Textview(cl_salv_wd_uie_text_view)
    else.
    Create an Object for Inputfield(cl_salv_wd_uie_input_field)
    endif.
    The Append row is a standard button or custom one on ALV toolbar.
    Do you want to hide the toolbar or just disable these buttons.
    If you want to hide the toolbar then refer my wiki -
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/WDABAP/NullreferenceforUPDATETOOLBARerrorsofALVinthewebdynpro+ABAP

  • My external hard drive is in Read Only mode...

    My external hard drive, which I have used before, is in "Read Only Mode."
    I have put files on this drive and taken files off of it before, so it isn't an NTFS issue.
    I am still able to write with a different Mac.
    FYI, this is a Late-2011 Macbook Air.

    You are about to format your storage device. Be sure to copy and take the back up before formatting. Just select the physical disc you want to reformat in the tree on the left-hand side of Disk Utility. You can select a new file system format from the drop down below, and also name the new volume to be created. Showing the info of the newly formatted drive, you can see the disc is now set to read and write.

  • My Finder is opening folders in Read-Only Mode.

    When I click on Finder. A folder is opening in read only mode. When I open any folders in it, then a new window is opened again in read only mode.
    Just the "New Finder Window" is having this problem.
    Please help me out with my problem. I want the Finder to open windows normally rather than in read only modes.

    Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have wrong permissions. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
    First, empty the Trash.
    Triple-click the line below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    find ~ $TMPDIR.. \( -flags +sappnd,schg,uappnd,uchg -o ! -user $UID -o ! -perm -600 -o -acl \) 2> /dev/null | wc -l
    Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
    The output of this command, on a line directly below what you entered, will be a number such as "41." Please post it in a reply.

  • Launch Adobe Reader for Android via Intent in Read-Only mode

    One issue I've bumped into recently with respect to launching Adobe Reader for Android via an ACTION_VIEW intent is that fillable forms can apparently always be filled and saved, thus modifying the original file.  That may be wonderful in many applications, but I have a situation where I would really not like users to be able to make any changes to the document (i.e. filling in fields and saving) at the current time.
    I am assuming that there is currently no Intent option to open a PDF in Adobe Reader in true read-only mode (preferably such that fillable fields wouldn't even be fillable).
    For now, I'll probably just have to point to a copy of the file, but it would be more convenient to have a handful of properly-documented options for launching read-only via an Intent.

    GoodReader ($4.99), ezPDF Reader ($2.99) and PDF Expert ($9.99) are well rated and support many more features.

  • Sharing a view in read only mode

    Hi,
    I am new in this domain. I have made an application in which I made two local development projects. Through that I am using views of one into another with the help of "Used WebDynpro Components" concept. After deploying, I have got these two views.
    But the problem is that I want that view in read only mode which I have taken from other local development project and this view was not in read only mode in its local development projects.
    Please provide me the solution in detail so that I can understand easily.

    Hi Manish,
                   Say View1 is the view in main Component,View2 is the view in used Component.  Exactly follow these steps.
    Create a context attribute <b>enable </b>of type String in used Component's controller,used Component's Interface controller, View1 and View2.
    Using context mapping map these attributes  View2 ->  used Component's controller->  used Component's Interface controller -> View1 ( if you don't know how to map double click the  the Main component: Data navigation modeler is opened; In  the diagram, right side select small arrow  first select  View1 drag to used Component's Interface controller,in the wizard select right hand side <b>enable </b>attribute drag to left side)
    you can map similarly View2 ->  used Component's controller->  used Component's Interface controller.
    In View2 create another variable <b>edit </b>of boolean type.
    Open Layout tab of View2, bind this attribute to enable property of all the UI elements which you want to disable.
    In  implementation tab of View1 in method wdDoInit() write this code
    wdContext.currentContextElement.setEnable("display");
    In  implementation tab of View2 in method wdDoInit() write this code
    if(wdContext.currentContextElement.getEnable().equalIgnoreCase("display"))
    wdContext.currentContextElement.setEdit(false);
    else
    wdContext.currentContextElement.setEdit(true);
    Hope this helps for you.
    Best regards,
    Siva

  • Putting apps database in Read-Only mode

    Hi,
    I want to put the apps database in read-only mode to that user will be able to login into the applications and see data but will not be able to update it.
    What is the best way to do this?
    Thanks

    I am still looking at how to do this because if users
    update the UAT/test database, when the prod upgrade
    is completed, they will think that their updates will
    be available and this will cause some issues.This is a training/expectation-setting issue, not a technical one. You need to make sure that your users understand the difference between a test system and production, and that changes made in testing will not be present in production. They also need to understand that this situation is actually to their benefit: it enables them to really work with the test system to uncover potential problems and learn new features, without fear of making changes that could negatively impact their day-to-day work in production.
    Please note that I'm not trying to be a jerk here. I very respectfully submit that attempting to make an instance read-only for training purposes, even if possible, will involve a great deal of technical work for very little (and perhaps even negative) overall benefit to the users.

    hi,
    Read only means you cannot mofiy the file. This also includes that you cannot delete a readonly-file yes,
    what i am doing is i have three button in my layout 'save','view' and 'delete'.
    1.so when user press 'save' button after selecting the file then the file gets saved into the specified.
    2. when user press 'view' button the file has to open in read only mode.
    for this i have written above mentioned code(but still i am able to edit the file)
    3.when user press 'delete' button the file has to be deleted from the specified location.
    so my problem is after setting file to read only mode, i am able to edit but i am not able to delete it.
    What i am using to set the file to read only mode is right?
    Please help.
    Thanks..

  • Open CRMM_ACCOUNT in Read-Only-Mode

    hi,
    i want to open the application CRMM_ACCOUNT out of a bsp application in a new window. Ok, no problem... (thanks to all the posts before )
    BUT: How can i open the Account in read only mode?
    yours Michael

    Hello,
    If you look into the standard of MAC CL_BSP_ACC_ACCMOD, you will find in read method of super class CL_BSP_BP_ACCMOD the following coding :
      Activity "display": don't allow to change anything
        IF gv_activity = gc_activity-display.
          CALL METHOD cl_bsp_bp_global_service=>set_field_attr
            EXPORTING
              iv_object_key            = ls_object-object_key
              iv_screen_structure_name = iv_screen_structure_name
              iv_field_property        = gc_no_change
            CHANGING
              ct_field_attribute       = et_field_attribute
              ct_dd03p                 = gt_dd03p.
        ENDIF.
    So, the only way to put the account application in display is to work on the fields attributes.

    Fred
