Rollback Apache/PHP to default state

Long story short: I seriously borked my apache/php setup that came with Leopard. I'm now using Xampp but it's got a few limitations and would like to roll back my original Apache/PHP to the default state, preferably without having to reinstall Leopard. Can this be done?

I'd really appreciate any insight into how I (n00b) can use the default Apache configuration to learn PHP (where is it?) or is setting up another Apache/PHP instance in /usr/local/ safe?

Do I need to remove the above to prevent conflicts with OSX's default apache? I don't even know where to find the default install or where to go from here.

I did download the Apache2 version of PHP5 - so i'm assuming i'd need to remove both and redownload the correct version?
Yeah, do that first. You should be able to just re-run the correct PHP5 installer. If that doesn't work, you can delete the old install with this Terminal command:
<pre class="command">sudo rm -Rf /usr/local/php5</pre>By the way, if you want to delete the Apache 2 installation, the command would be:
<pre class="command">sudo rm -Rf /usr/local/apache2</pre>When you're typing those commands, be very careful not to have any spaces in the paths. That could result in accidentally erasing more than you'd intended.
Here's the result of httpd -V you requested:

Okay, so at least the command line is still seeing the stock Apache server. I think you should be fine.
And finally the result for sudo /usr/sbin/apachectl start:

I suspect that the error there is just because the PHP5 module is for Apache 2 and that's why it can't be loaded. Once you install the correct PHP5, that message is likely to go away.
A couple quick notes on Apache. First, if you succeed in starting it from the command line, it's possible that the Sharing preferences won't show that it's running. I'm not sure how that works under Tiger, but it used to be that it didn't always reflect the true state of the Apache server if it was stopped or started using the command line.
Second, if you want to use the Sharing preference to stop and start it, you can always look at the results using the Console application. It's in your utilities folder, and the logs you're looking for are in the /var/www/httpd folder. The error log is especially helpful.
Finally, I'm going to be kind busy next few days, so if you post and don't get a response, I'm not ignoring you, and I'll get back when I can...

Preserving link and default state using cookies

I am not sure where to post this with the re-design of this forum; it's been a while so please forgive me if this is in the wrong g place.
I have a very basic link wrapped in a UL tag.
I am using JQuery to give the links a color when they are clicked by performing an add/remove class function, the link state is than preserved by cookies so if a user returns to a page; it shows what tab they were viewing.
The problem is; this is a single page and I want to set a default link or tab; say the first one. I do not know how to do this.
This is what I am looking to accomplished:
A user visits the page and the first link is colored red (default)
If the user clicks on another link that link becomes active and the first link looses it's default status
When the user returns the first link is nolonger the default, it is whatever link the user selected when first visited; that's because that link was rememberd using cookies.
The first link will ONLY maintain the default state if the user deletes his cookies or visits the page for the first time.
Here is a peice of JQuery I have used to maintain the selected state:

Problems with Apache PHP Mysql

I tried doing an upgrade from Tiger to Leopard server but was having lots of issues while working with the virtual sites I have hosted. I tried a clean install and I was still unable to get Apache php and mysql to work together. Each service was starting fine but when I would try to run a php file it would only display a white page. Under the upgrade instead of displaying the page it was downloading any page I tried to load.
In the new clean install I enabled phplib5 through server admin but even a simple info.php file with <?php phpinfo(); ?> was only giving me a white page. I dont know if mysql was interfacing with php and apache at this point cause I could not get any further. I mainly just want to be able to run wordpress which is a php blog that uses a mysql database.
I have heard some people talking about mamp installs and not using the stock web services but I did not know if that would be a smart route to take.

well the problem come in that you could end out with multiple releases of the same application when the idea is to make one package "stable"
would you rather have a debain package data base that has seventeen apache's or one stable full featured apache?
as for a server/stable tree for production machines this is coming. implimentation is not the trouble it is time that is a factor.

Why won't firefox load websites after reseting to default state

I've reset mozilla through the tools troubleshooting and reset fire fix to its default state. Now the webpages such as facebook, hotmail won't load or they won't load properly.
A window with this connection is untrusted appears. Even when I validate a security exception it won't load and it won't let me have an option of validating sometimes. Technical details says invalid security certificate. No issuer chain provided. Error code unknown issuer.

Apache php mysql installation on arch

does anyone have a tutorial on how to install :
- apache
- php
- mysql
on Archlinux
i have installed apache
pacman -S apache
pacman -S php
pacman -S mysql
but apache won't start : /etc/rc.d/httpd start - it gives me FAIL
and when i try httpd it give a nasty error
httpd: arp_sockaddr_info_get() failed for pufos (pufos - the linux box name)
httpd: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name , using 127.0.0.1 for ServerName
is because i didnt configureg good httpd.conf or what
anyway , a tutorial for installing apache php and mysql would be perfect.

Oracle+apache+php in windows environment

Hi all, i have a great problem with a new web application written in Php 5 under Apache 2.2.4. using Oracle instant client 10g
The database (10.2.0.2) characterset is WE8MSWIN1252 same for the client. When i insert/update a rows from php with àèìòù characters i see ¿¿¿ with the client (sqlplusw) if i insert/update same characters from sqlplusw i saw ???? from php.
Tried to set NLS_LANG in httpd.conf but nothing is changed. Could anyone help me ?

What platforms are you using here, for apache/php/oracle client host and the other host where you have sqlplusw.exe?
When having inserted non-ascii characters from sqlplusw, what does the following return
select column, dump(column,1016) from table where ...
After insert from php, what does the same query return?

Default state of accodion on opening a web page

Hello,
I am wondering how to set the default state of an accordion for when a web page is first opened. I would like all panels to be collapsed and only open when the desired title is clicked.
Also, is there a way to make the panel collapse to a completely closed state? For example, click on a title, see the contents of the panel, and click on the title to collapse that panel again?

Spry TabbedPanels: set default state

After inserting 3 Collapsible Panels on my web page, I want to set the default state of the panels so that when the page loads, panel 1 is open and panels 2 and 3 are closed. I used this code from "Set the default state of the panel" Spry Help page:

Thank you. I figured out the problem, and the default panel states are working correctly now.
Next step: I want to use the open and close functions to toggle the state of the other panels so when the user clicks one tab to open a panel, the other two close. I'll try to get this working, but may be back to this forum in case I need help!

Setting agent's default state to Ready in CAD

We are using UCCX 7.0 with CAD 6.0. Is it possible to set the default state of the agent to Ready when they login to their CAD.Right now, they go to the default Not Ready state one they login.

By design CAD agent initial state after login is always not ready and there is no specific setting in uccx were you can change this behanviour.

AS2 you go into the component to add the actions, and the
instance names are already there by default. AS3 you need to give
the component an instance name, and don't go into the component,

System user to its default state

Hi All,
I created few oracle objects with System user and later I came to know that those objects should be created with another user. Is there any other method to revert System user to its default state (that means the state when database was created) without deleting individual objects that I created manually.

There is no script to drop unnecessary objects. You could :-
1. ignore those objects.
or
2. create a new database and import the data
or
3. identify the custom objects and drop them. You can identify them by selecting from dba_objects and order by created.
select object_name, object_type, created from dba_objects where owner = 'SYSTEM' order by created.

After today's auto-update I stupidly accepted returning Firefox to its default state. Is there any way I can undo this? (I've lost all my Speed Dial sites).

After an auto-update installation this morning a dialog box appeared asking if I want Firefox to return to its default state. I stupidly said yes and now have lost all my Speed Dial thumbnails, URLs, and saved passwords. Is there a way I can undo this to return to the way Firefox was set up and working yesterday?
