Room Finder - Choose an available room - Empty -outlook 2010
Hi,
I have been assigned to create these meetings room.
Have been doing this by following this method http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2010/04/14/3409791.aspx

but as in the room finder, i can see the group i created in the show room list, but in Choose available room it's empty.
I'm not running with cached mode. So what can i do to solve this issue.

Exchange 2010 - Issues with Room Finder not showing available rooms.
Hi,
We are having issues with room finder not populating the room resources that are available inside a meeting request within outlook 2010. It also appears that there is a drop down box that is present in a lot of the other forums and pages that I have referenced
for troubleshooting:
Single Exchange 2010 server version 14.03.0224.002 running all roles. Migrated from previous Exchange 2003 environment and old 2003 server has been decommissioned.
Room mailbox created and all configured resource policies are working correctly for creating meeting requests. A distribution group was created and the room mailboxes added to this DG as per instructions here: hxxp://exchangeserverpro.com/find-meeting-rooms/
. We have recreated the OAB and confirmed that the Room mailboxes are part of this list.
Does anyone have any ideas why the rooms are not showing up in the Room Finder box?
If I have missed any information please feel free to ask for more info.

According to your description, I understand that room finder cannot show available room in Outlook 2010.
If I misunderstand you concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
I want to double confirm whether it works before, or it can’t work after decommission Exchange 2003? How about other Outlook version?
The offline address book (OAB) is generated by Microsoft Exchange Server. In order for the Room Finder feature to work, the OAB must be generated by Exchange 2010 or a later version.
Please run Get-OfflineAddressBook | FL Identity,Server to double check OAB generation server. Also, run Get-OabVirtualDirectory | FL to check URL for current OAB VD and force update OAB.
Then open Test E-mail AutoConfiguration to double check whether Outlook get correct URL.
After above complete, please try to switch to Send/Receive tab, click Send/Receive Groups, and then click Download Address Book.

Just had Office 2010 installed on work computer (up from 2007).
I had used a custom toolbar in Outlook 2007 and had made my own "buttons" to do repeated tasks (most the buttons linked to other network locations). 2007 Outlook you could make a custom button, then right click on it and "Customize" and provide a hyperlink
(to web, or to files or to network locations etc).
That functionality seems to be gone in Outlook 2010...or am I missing it somewhere? I am in Outlook all day and loved being able to immediatly hit a button that would open a network location or an IE URL.
I have searched extensively online, but cant find any reference to this for Outlook 2010.
Thanks for any help.Can you/anyone provide the appropriate code to open a URL within the Outlook frame - not a separate browser window? I'd like to create a ribbon bar button which opens a URL within the Outlook frame.

I stumbled across a funny little problem yesterday after a rash of users calling wanting to know why rooms were declining their meeting requests..
The rooms were declining for perfectly legitimate reasons.. Conflicts or no end date but the accept/decline reply messages the rooms were sending out had no details in the message body when viewed from Outlook 2010 or 2013.
If message preview is enabled in Outlook 2013 you can read a few lines of the body in the inbox view but it's still blank when you open the message.
Reading pane is also blank.
Opening the message from OWA or my phone shows the complete message body.
Very odd. It reminds me of the bug in Exchange 2013 CU2 where meeting invites to external users were sent blank unless they were sent as iCalendar.
Maybe this will resolve itself when I load SP1 in a few weeks.
Any one else seeing this?

I have tested in my Exchange 2013 CU1 environment and I can reproduce your issue in Outlook online mode. Please check whether the problematic users are using Outlook Online mode in Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013.
The issue doesn’t happen in OWA and Outlook Cached mode. Therefore, I recommend users can change their Outlook client to Cached mode as a workaround. To do it, we can:
Open Outlook, click File > Account Settings > Account Settings. Double-click the account, check Use Cached Exchange Mode > Next and finish it. Restart Outlook to use it in cached mode.

Outlook 2010 messages that have not been deleted are available in Recover deleted Items list
Hello,
Outlook 2010\Exchange 2010 SP1-clustred
I have looked at several mail accounts through Outlook 2010 client, they are not using the cached mode, they have not emptied the trash.
When I look in Recover deleted items I am seeing messages, mostly sent messages that are available for recovery, the problem is that these messages have not been deleted, they are
still in the sent folder.
I have restored one to see what will happen, it does restore to the deleted items folder.
It seems to random messages some sent to groups some sent to a single individual
Some Outlook 2010 clients I have checked do not show this problem, but several do including myself, I would have assumed that the Outlook 2010 client user had somehow deleted
it and restored it causing this problem if I did not see this on my own account.
Is this normal behavior? Perhaps some from replication or temp draft's

ThanksSince the post is over two year old, I'm not sure manotelli is still following it, but I think he is talking about something else:
1. He starts a message and does not complete it (or send it).
2. The message is saved as a draft pending completion.
3. Once he completes the message and sends it, there is an autosaved version that is deleted.
I'm not sure what relationship exists between the "draft" which (I would think) is what is ultimately sent when the message is completed and whatever is sent to the recycle bin.
It has nothing to do with webmail (OWA) or any form of remote access.

My iPhone 3 had been syncing fine with Outlook 2003 via Google Sync. I recently had to reload my PC, wiped it and installed Outlook 2010 as part of the reload; when I tried to install Google Sync I learned it was no longer available for download after December 14th.....I did have it on another PC, moved it over but got an error message. So I am no longer able to make calendar changes on my iPhone and have them sync to Outlook or vise versa. In addition my Google calendar is now empty....
Anyone know of a way to enable a sync between Google Calendar and Outlook 2010

Why is all this stuff so complecated!??no you can not do that. You can sync any web calendar that supports web dav to lightning, but Microsoft have chosen to not use the open standard and instead only offer a Microsoft Proprietary interface. Nothing new here though. They only offered a Microsoft Proprietary interface to download mail for many years. They call it innovation. I call it vendor lock in.
Interestingly enough you can sync office 365 calendar via OWA but not outlook.com -
Outlook 2010 - sending mail with attachment - "The system cannot find the file specified"
Hi forum Fellows,
I have the following failure scenario:
1. A user receives an e-mail with an attachment.
2. The user opens the attachment --> Forwards the mail and writes something in the body of the e-mail
3. For whatever reason the user leaves the e-mail and works on something else --> the user comes back to the e-mail an hour or more later.
4. The user then wants to send the e-mail but gets the following error message: "The system cannot find the file specified"
5. The effect is that the user cannot send the e-mail.....
------------------------------ TROUBLESHOOTING -----------------------
- I can see that when the user opens an attachment this attachment is saved in the OutlookTemp folder. Actually, there is a difference between opening the attachment before or after clicking forward on the e-mail.
---- Before: Two files is written to the OutlookTemp folder. For example if the attachment name is FileX.pdf - there will be a FileX.pdf but also a FileX (2).pdf in the folder (if OutlookTemp is empty/do not contain a file with the name FileX.pdf already)
---- After: Only one file is written to OutlookTemp. That is FileX.pdf
- Running Process Monitor when trying to forward the e-mail I can see that Outlook is calling a file that is not in the OutlookTemp folder anymore.
**** To me this is the heart of the issue. For some reason, when a user has an e-mail with an attachment open for an extended period of time (not sure on exactly how long is necessary), files in the OutlookTemp folder is deleted - files that Outlook is depending
on to be there.
- Going with a totally clean OutlookTemp folder does not help.

- The question now is: Is this by design? Can it be fixed by some Outlook 2010 patch? Or perhaps a group policy/registry setting as a workaround.

Although not a complete answer, the way to treat attachments in emails require some discipline:
1. Never open an attachment directly from the email (and NEVER edit it from there). Always save it in a known location as the desktop or (better) in a designated document folder. Then you can proceed as usual, like editing the contents, printing, forwarding
the new version etc.
2. Directly forwarding the attachment is ok, along with additional text in the body of the email.
3. Having any (unsaved) document open for several hours should
never occur. What if there is a power outage?
Bottom line is thus Discipline. This is regardless of Operating System (which might handle temporary files differently).
These are the rules I teach my customers and they never leave any document unsaved for hours ...

Outlook 2010 Advanced Find Contacts Not Working
Some Outlook 2010 Advanced Find criteria work but the "email is not empty" and "email is empty" criteria return no results though there are contacts that have the Email field populated.

Are you using Search Tools > Advanced Find > Advanced tab > Field > Email Fields > Email? Please make sure you selected the correct Contacts folder when you perform the search.
We can also try remove Outlook from the indexing location to check the result. To do this, click Search Tools > Search Options > Indexing Options > Modify > clear the check box before Outlook...

Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

I need some help.
iPhone Calendar wiped out after sync with an empty Outlook 2003 Calendar.
Unable to restore from backup as my iPhone was backed-up before I realised my calendar info was gone.
I found an old backup file in my old disk but was unable to move the old calendar data to the empty outlook after restore. It just keep wiping out after I sync.
Thanks.I have managed to find an old back up to restore my iPhone. However even with at least one entry in my outlook, my calendar details on my iPhone was still wiped out and was not transferred to my outlook.

Cannot find color categories to add to outlook; they are grayed out.
Following the help info does not help as the color category seems to not be functioning. It is not in the ribbon and not in the right click for messages. Also how do I add colors to the flags? What am I missing?

As I stated in my previous post:
1. "With outlook 2007 I was able to right click and choose my categories, with outlook 2010 (64 bit on WIndows 7 64bit)
when I right-click on categories column the contextual menu has no categories but simply the grayed option "Clear All Categories"."

2. "In order to set the category I found a workaround (but it's very time expensive), you need to click left on the category
column, Outlook will set the "one single click" category, then open the email and right click on the category color just above "from" field, now Outlook displays all categories availables."
For sentence 1.: that means that Office 2010 doesn't do a thing that Office 2007 did, so for me it's a regression.
From sentence 2.: derives that Office 2010 supports categories for IMAP. In my humble opinion the impossibility to set the category directly from mail list view is a bug.

I can still receive icloud ( ME email address) emails fine. I have not changed my settings at all. I have however tried all the settings I can find on the support pages. PLEASE HELP. Nothing has changed. This suddenly just started happening around a month ago. To frustrate me apple does not seem to have a support email or any method to contact them with this issue to do with their email product. I have spent ages going through the apple support sites and I keep getting asked for an apple product to mark it against. I have no apple product as I am using a PC but I am accessing and using their email product. Is there even a phone number I can call? Surely there is a support area for their Email server issues. Can anyone help? It is driving me mad and causing me major issues. My outlook is Outlook 2010 on a windows 8 PC. As I have said it worked fine then one day decided to stop sending emails.

This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary.
