Route mail based on email address (full address, not just host or domain)

I'm trying to test sending all mail outbound from IMS 5.2 to our email gateway that will scan the messages. I would like to first test with just one IMS email address to make sure it works. So, how would I configure IMS so that outbound mail from [email protected] is sent to a tcp_firewall channel, but all other mail from @mydomain.com is handled normally. Also, which files and configuration commands do I need to look at so that custom tcp_firewall channel works. Thanks!

Not shure why you want to route one user's mail. That's much more difficult that making the one, easy, change to route all your mails through the gateway.
Locate your imta.cnf file. Open it with a text editor.
Scroll down to the Channel Definitions section, and locate your "tcp_local" channel.
There should be three lines, starting with
!tcp_local
a bunch of stuff
tcp_daemon
add to the end of the second line:
daemon <the fully qualified name of your gateway>
like:
daemon some.machine.at.your.domain
save the file
run:
imsimta cnbuild
imsimta restart job_controller
and now, all mail going out the tcp_local channel will be routed thorugh the gateway.

    Hi Mengelkemier,
I think you're posting in the wrong forum.  This forum is intended to be used to discuss virtualizing Exchange Server on the the vSphere platform.  The question you're asking seems to be a mobile device specific question.
You would probably get better visibility posting on a forum dedicated to your particular device.  And for what it's worth, some devices will let you sync all of your email and others will only let you sync a certain amount.  It's dependent on the device you're using.
Good luck in finding your answer.

  • APPLE MAIL is sending emails from wrong address

    Hello,
This question has probably been asked before, but I haven't been able to find it. Feel free to send me there with a link if it's helpful.
    Here's my plight:
I use gmail IMAP and manage 2 email accounts through Apple Mail (5.2). One is the domain catch-all email, [email protected], and the other is my main personal account, [email protected] Usually, whichever mailbox I click on is the address from which my mail is sent. But recently, whenever I've sent mail from [email protected], the recipient has been seeing my personal address ([email protected]), rather than the Info address. But the address line still says "Info" and not my name, if that makes sense. Example:
    NORMAL: FirstName LastName "<[email protected]>"; Info "<[email protected]">
    NOW (PROBLEM): Info "<[email protected]>"
The replies to the mail I sent from Info are then sent to my personal account. I checked the mail preferences and the Info settings are the same as they've always been. It says the name is Info and the address is [email protected] I'm not sure why Apple Mail is suddenly thinking that the Info emails are coming from my personal account. Is this an Apple Mail issue, or a Gmail issue? Help! I don't want people to be receiving emails from my personal account when it should be from the Info account. Do I need to delete the entire Info mailbox from Apple Mail and start all over?
    Thanks for your help!

Agreed.  I had three gmail accounts, 2 business, one personal, but lately all my attempts to send mail from my personal account wound up being sent from Business instead, even after selecting which account to send it from.
I went into Preferences, Account info, then found all outgoing smtp servers simply called gmail but there were three in the list. It turned out that all my accounts were being directed to one server address.
If you drop down the Edit SMTP Server list, then select each account under Account Information you can see which server is dedicated to which account. Then you can edit the name of the related gmail server to the related account. So you can have gmail personal, gmail business 1, gmail business 2 etc.
Once you have the servers renamed (all the same actually but tells mail which account credentials to use), you can then select the appropriate server to match the right account under Preferences>Account Info front page.
    Worked for me.

  • Mail: Where are email messages and address book saved?

    Good morning.
I would like to backup both emails and the address book in Mail.
Where are these located on my harddrive?
    Thanks for your time.

    Hi Again Bruce,
    On Mail...
First Quit Mail, then I'd backup these two Mail folders, by right clicking on them in the Finder, then choose Archive/Compress.
    Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail
    Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail Downloads
(Could be a different folder here if you chose such in Mail Prefs)
Right click on that Mail folder, choose archive, you'll get everything in the folder, and the folder itself in a file called Mail.zip, move it to a safe place, same for the Mail Downloads folder... only the plist is separate.
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
    For Address Book, quit AB...
    Files...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.abd.plist
    Folders...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/com.apple.AddressBook/

  • Route mails based on internal sender domain.

    Hi All,
I have Hosted Exchange 2013 (1CAS and 1MBS) with the following domains. I already have an SMTP Send connector to route all mails (*) to a smart host.
    DomainA.com
    DomainB.com
    DomainC.com
Now my requirement is - : I need to create an internet SMTP connector to route only mails from DomainC.com to use MX. How can it be configured or please let me know any other alternatives/best way.
Basically DomainC.com is for bulk emails, i need to outbound them through different IP.
    Regards,
    Vinod

I recommend that you post this in the Exchange for Hosters Forum:

  • Mail cannot search email by full text

Starting sometime in 10.7.2, my Mail can no longer search my emails with keywords. The only working one is search by contact.
Spotlight can still search email by full-text, but it is barely usable for my purpose.
Upgrading to 10.7.4 did not fix this problem.
    I have tried:
    1) vacuum mail envelops
    2) rebuilding mail boxes a few times
    3) repair disk permissions
    4) reset spotlight index
    none of them helped.
Very frustrated and do not know how to fix this. I currently rely on Sparrow for my emails...
    Any other suggestions? Thanks!

After creating a new user account, importing all the mails form the IMAP server to that account, and finding that full text search was broken in that new and virgin user account, too, I contacted Apple support. They walked me through repairing disk permissions and the spotlight index.
When this did not help, they told me to RE-INSTALL 10.8.2 WITHOUT DELETING my home folder / private files. Finally, this solved the issue for me! There must have been something wrong deep within the system.

  • Mail won't quite without "force quite" , Mail stops receiving emails after a while, not happy about MAIL's performance!!!! :(

I have massive problems with Mail.
I use mail at work and have 3 accounts running
    1. Mac. mail account
    2. Gmail mail account
    3. Exchange Server
I have quite a few folders in my accounts where I have to archive my emails to.
Often very often or lets say annoyingly too often mail stops working.
    - stops receiving emails
    - emails I have put away in folders disapear in my inbox again
    - if I try to quite Mail it won't I have to force it and then when I open it again all my emails I was working on open again even so I have sent them already. Also all the emails I have folded away are back in my inbox WHAT A WAIST OF TIME!!
I AM VERY UNHAPPY ABOUT MAILS PERFORMANCE AT THE MOMENT! IT SIMPLY DOESN'T WORK!
Does anyone have the same problems and more importantly does anyone has a solution to this problem other then switching to Outlook???
    Thank you!
    Oliver

I have the "stops receiving mail" problem with Exchange.  Sometimes I can open up the Activty window in Mail and stop  the stuck processes. Other times I have to close then reopen Mail.  I usually do the latter. A fix would be nice.
I wonder if your other problems are related to this. The actual process of relocating your messages is maybe queued up behind one of the stuck processes. Just guessing. I have not had that problem.

  • Sending Email from Multiple Accounts, not just one.

I have 3 email accounts set up on my iPhone, 1 Gmail, 2 two POP accounts.
For example if I get an email from Gmail, I check it in the phone and hit reply it goes out, from Gmail.
If I view an email in another POP account (NONGMAIL) and hit reply, the reply is sent from my GMail address. What gives?
If you reply to a message from another account shouldn't it go from that account? I don't want to be responding to work emails with my Gmail address.
Does the iPhone only support 1 account to send email? I tried changing the default account that did nothing using the mail client. Anyone else have this issue.

I'm having my issue. I have a gmail and an IMAP account set up on my phone.
When I have my default mail set to my gmail account, and I go into either inbox of my iphone's email application and send to a third email address, the emails appear to be coming from my gmail account.
When I change my default mail to be my IMAP account, the email STILL appears to be coming from my gmail account, no matter which account I send from.
The punchline is that, with either account set to default and sending from either account, the copy that I BCC to myself ends up being sent to BOTH email accounts.
    Any idea what's going on?

  • Want list of incoming emails to be larger not just email itself

Hi: I just reconfigured my email onto Thunderbird on my new mac (used it just fine on my old computer). I can barely see the list of emails in my inbox. I have figured out using the advanced setting how to increase the font size of each email when it comes up in the reading pane. I would also like the list of emails themselves to be in a bigger font. Searched lots of articles and played in all the settings but can't figure it out. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks, Julia Holloway.

Hello Julia, normally what works or should work is by pressing the Ctrl button on the keyboard and scrolling up or down with the mouse wheel one click at a time.

  • How to show full photo, not just FACES?

I've imported my photos to iPhoto 11.
Lots and lots of the pictures are the "faces" portion and not the full actual picture.
So, a picture of a bride and a groom on the beach is a close up of the grooms face, not them and the back drop of the beach anymore.
Somebody please tell me that there is a way to fix this, or batch update it...
    Thanks,
    JT

Here's a good example.  This pic is of 5 people outside of a bar, or it was originally.  I want to revert back to the full picture.  Not a close up of their individual faces.  Is there any way to revert back to the original picture?  I don't care about the "faces" feature.
    Thanks,
    JT

  • Threading based on Message-ID's and not just Subject?

    Hi!
When I add something to the Subject:-line while replying to a message my reply + subsequent replies from the other party becomes a new thread. To me, this is an error, and it must be because Thunderbird fails to use the following headers:
    References:
    In-Reply-To:
    X-Forwarded-Message-Id:
Is there an add-on, or maybe even a peculiar setting I haven't noticed, that solves this problem?
    Best regards,

  • Deliver to an email whose address is not listed as accepted domain

    Hi Exchange experts!
I have a question regarding transport servers behaviour for smtp addresses that are not listed in accepted domains.
I have a mailbox with a secondary smtp address :
[email protected] , and aaaa.com is not listed as accepted.
Assuming that mx record for aaaa.com is configured correctly with my server IP. I tried sending an email to that address and it is delivred. This made me confused about my little knowledge. I thought exchange would reject such connection.
Can any one help me to understand this behaviour? (antispam agents are disabled and forefront protection for exchange is installed on hub server.)
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello,
I mean your organization public domain name (external domain name).
Based on my known, I understand that if we use e-mail address policy to assign e-mail address to users, such as aaaa.com, the aaaa.com must be included in accepted domain.
If we customize an e-mail address for a user mailbox ([email protected]), we can add aaaa.com as accepted domain, or needn't add it.
Only if there is a DNS MX record on public DNS server, we can send message to the user with
    [email protected]
If I have any misunderstanding, please free let me know.

  • Custom routing agent based on sender's security group and subject

I made a custom routing agent that routes mails contains the word [encrypt] in the subject and sent from domain test.com
The part of the code is
    if (e.MailItem.FromAddress.DomainPart.Contains("test.com")
                    && e.MailItem.Message.Subject.Contains("[encrypt]"))
now what i need is to route mails based on the membership of a certain security group like "securemail" not the whole domain. ie if the sender is a member in security group (securemail) and the subject contains the word [encrypt] route the mail
    Thanks

    Thanks for your answer Glen
The following  code is on exchange 2010 but i need it to check for a security group membership if possible

// If the subject contains the substring "REDIR" then the default routing is overwritten.
// Instead of hard-coding the sender you could also perform an LDAP-query, read the information
// from a text file, etc.
                if (e.MailItem.FromAddress.DomainPart.Contains("contoso.com")
                    && e.MailItem.Message.Subject.Contains("[encrypt]"))
// Here we set the address space we want to use for the next hop. Note that this doesn't change the recipient address.
// Setting the routing domain to "nexthopdomain.com" only means that the routing engine chooses a suitable connector
// for nexthopdomain.com instead of using the recpient's domain.
                    RoutingDomain myRoutingOverride = new RoutingDomain("nexthopdomain.com");
                    foreach (EnvelopeRecipient recp in e.MailItem.Recipients)
                        recp.SetRoutingOverride(myRoutingOverride);

    Vinay Kumar.

Thanks Vinay, glad you got it working. We were having some issues and its related to the level of rollup and whether certain headers are allowed through exchange or not.
However MS's answer is that it does not work.
    Confusing eh.
