Router conflict with Roadrunner and/or their motorola modem

I have owned a linksys router for over five years now and about 1 month ago my entire house comprised of 3 desktops one of which is wired directly to the router others are wireless, 4 laptops (wireless), 3 iphones, an xbox 360 (wireless), a ps3 (wireless), (i dont mean to flaunt but i stress the importance of a stable internet connection in a house of my size and), started hitting pings of over 2400's... there is connection but virtually no response....most sites time out before comeing up. so naturally we trouble shooted this anomaly on our own... tried connecting a computer directly to the motorola cable modem and found it in perfect working order... when on speedtest.net we saw pings around 15-20 and download speeds up to 19mbps every so often up to 25mbps but never lower. through either router new or old i see pings over 2400 with out fail and downloads areound 4mbps wihjch wouldnt be horrible if it werent for the latency.
so we figure old rounter.... got a new one. one of the linksys wrt110's and saw no improvement which was frusterating because the router was clearly the problem
so we thought for some reason the protocols within the modem itself were the problem and replaces this as well.... i have tested the signal power/strengths/frequencys with the modems as well and although my knowledge is limited to what i have learned on my own i know its well within proper ranges to function.  (it would be common sense id think seeing as how the signal is fine when not being filtered through the routers.but i tested anyway).
now i tried one other thing..and that was to instead connect the internet through my computer and thenback out into the router via a 2 ethernet cablescards andashared connection ... still no dice seeing as the internet connection was still giveing ping readings around 240. as a final resort to find whether it was routing in general that was conflicting or just the linksys routers fault for the latancy problem i connected another machine directly tomy computer via shared connection andit works perfectly but it isnt really a viable solution considering the multitude of internet hungary machines in my home.
now i know all this is rather vague but the story itself tells volumes about my problem but not really how to fix it... the only equally vague solutions i can conjure is to either 1. buy adifferant brand router ( i am rather attached to linksys afterthis length of time) or 2. find an underlying protocol or signal differance that wasnt there for almost5 year up till 1month ago. HELP me  please i just plain dont know enoughabout this and apearantly niether do many other people because i have talked with 2 linksys routertechs on phone and had timewarner cable come to my house twice aswell.. they even replaced the modem

If i m not wrrong, you have connected your Router to your computer and your computer to the Modem and you have shared the Internet Connection through your Computer.
Well basically you dont have to share Internet connection from your Computer, As you Router already has a NAT and it can Share the Internet connections on your other computers also. 
Connect the Modem to Linksys router on Internet Port and Then connect your Computer to any available Ethernet Ports. Now you can configure your Linksys Router.

    No you should not have a problem with the router conflicting with the wireless keyboard/mouse.  They are on a different frequency all together from the wireless router.

    Linksys/Cisco E4200 are compatible with DHCP. Second, these Wireless-N routers are only capable of enabling the VPN traffic to pass through the device.  You will need a VPN router and software to create the actual network to connect with your VPN client.

    i have tried to use both Lightbox2 and Thickbox on a page

    Spry is definitely conflicting with Slimbox. I just made a
    simple test file, got slimbox working and slowly added the Spry
    pieces. It broke when I added the spry:region call in the div:

    I don't understand these people that say they are using Spry
    and Slimbox without issues. Would be nice to see an example.

    Thanks for the tip! It makes sense.
    However, the current PKGBUILD for libdesktop-agnostic-gnome-bzr speaks about dependencies like so:

    And I still get the build error. I suspect the workaround is to force a removal of gtk-gir but I'm hesitating because I really don't want to break my AWN installation.
    Am I being too cautios - or is there a better way of doing this?

  • [SOLVED] systemd-arch-units conflicts with mdadm and xinetd packages

    Trying to upgrade my testing box today to latest/greatest and running into a file conflict between systemd-arch-linux providing systemd profiles for xinetd and mdadm which also think they control the same files:
    error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
    /usr/lib/systemd/system/mdadm.service exists in both 'mdadm' and 'systemd-arch-units'
    /usr/lib/systemd/system/xinetd.service exists in both 'systemd-arch-units' and 'xinetd'
    Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
    Should I just do a force? I am not relying on systemd yet. Or should I just remove systemd?

  • Conflict with passwords and app purchase

    suggestion and found a phone number for Navigon andI called the PHONE number (866-273-4271) and SPOKE to Britton.
    It seems that Apple has caused some addresses to switch there main ID position. For example my cox.net and Mac.com.
    1.  He had me go into " settings" on my iPhone 4S and down to "Store (iTunes)"   
    2.  Under settings -- Store -- at the bottom is:  " Apple ID: [email protected]  
    Mine said mac.com  and it should have said:  cox.net. Somehow that was changed and NOT by me.
    3.  He had me tap the address and it brought me to the screen that included options such as:  Sign Out. This allowed me to change back to cox.net. I still have two different accounts with iTunes and two different passwords. This problem started when Apple said I needed to strengthen my password by using numbers, letters and CAPS. Up till that time, I had only one password and it worked on both accounts. Now I have two passwords as I said before. A new one for cox.net and the old original password for Mac.com.
    4.  After my iTunes Apple ID was changed back to cox.net I was able (after he had me delete the existing copy of Navigon on my computer), to go to my previous purchases on my Mac computer and download my original purchase made in 2009 ( under cox.net).
    This was an iTunes problem, not Navigon. iTunes should have been able to solve the problem. As I have said many times, this could have been solved on my first contact if we could have spoken to each other on the phone.
    This problem could happen to me again because I have purchased  apps under both accounts.

    Sorry, but I don't think there is a way to fix this. But I believe it only last 30 minutes, at most.

    Hello all, i'm having problems with this code. The compiler says: The method put(String, BufferedWriter) in type Map<String, BufferedWriter> is not applicable for the arguments(String, FileWriter).
    Also there is another error that says: Cannot Cast From BufferedWriter to FileWriter.
    i understand that to use a BufferedWriter, you need a FileWriter, i'm not used to deal with maps and bufferedWriters together :/

  • Routing issue with ASA and UC540 phone system - at ASA???

    Having an issue with routing from the PC at .242 to the CUE server at 10.1.10.1. The CUE server is built into the UC540 phone system. It is an internal piece of software that is used for voicemail and management. The UC540 is not only a call router, it is also an IOS router. It has it's own WAN connection as does the ASA.
    Here are some facts:
    1. Can ping the UC540's internal CUE server from the PC ( ping to 10.1.10.1 )
    2. Can ping the UC540's VLAN 1 address from the PC ( ping to 10.1.10.1 )
    3. The ASA is the default gateway for the PC.
    4. I have a route inserted at the asa that is:
                   route 10.1.10.1 255.255.255.0 10.19.250.254 1
    5. I have a nat statement that prevents NAT from occuring but I don't think this is necessary as the 10.1.10.0/24 network isn't otherwise defined on the      ASA.
    6. I cannot pull up a web page when I point the browser on the PC to the 10.1.10.1 address
    7. I CAN pull up a web page on the PC when I create a static route on the PC iteslf :
                   route add 10.1.10.1 mask 255.255.255.0 10.19.250.254
         Is is only with this route that I am able to get to the web GUI on the phone system.
    8. The phone system has a loopback interface at 10.1.10.2 that serves as the gateway for the internal CUE server, the internal CUE server is at      10.1.10.1
    9. The switch is a 2960 and has a trunk port to the phone system to allow for the voice vlan which is at 10.1.1.0/24, no issues with this vlan and phones      are connecting to the system fine.
    Since I can get the GUI to come up when I set a static route on the PC, then I would assume that the routing in the phone system with it's internal server is fine as it wouldn't work otherwise. Since I can successfully ping the CUE server from the PC, that would lead me to believe that the ASA's routing is setup correctly..... TCP traffic doesn't seem to get to/from the CUE server.
    Here are the routing tables:

    Where you able to solve this problem? It does sound like an issue with TCP state checking on the ASA. The Firewall needs to see both sides of the traffic but the return traffic is going from your UC540 direct to the PC. The firewall essentially kills the traffic.
    I would recommend disabling TCP state checking on the ASA and see if it works. Otherwise, you will need to stub route the UC540 as a separate VLAN off the ASA which needs to route through the ASA to reach the PC.

    Recently upgraded to Virgin Media's 30Mb broadband and Superhub
    This superhub is a modem and wireless router but I've had the wireless section disabled so that it acts as a modem only and that in turn is connected to my Netgear WNR2000 N300 wireless router. This is then connected to my iMAC via ethernet but runs wifi around the house for the iPad, AppleTV2 and my Marantz CR603 streaming hifi
    Anyways... All of a sudde the Mac isnt able to connect to the internet; it appears that the router and superbhub seem to be conflicting each other but I'm unsure why (I'm not that technical minded when it comes to things like this sorry)
    It's like the IP addresses have changed so sometimes it'll work (after everythings rebooted) but then it stops working again etc...
    Does anyone have any advice or tips on this issue?

    Turn the dhcp server off in either the Virgin or the Netgear, 2 dhcp servers is one too many.

  • Conflict with WRT160N and Windows Wireless Network Connection

    I have a WRT160N router connected to a Verizon FIOS cable modem with five computers (all Windows based) wirelessly connected to the N router.  Four of the computers auto detect the N router connection when the computer starts up using Windows Wireless Network Connection and operate well.  One of the computers, which is the only one running Easylink for router configuration, will not connect through the Wireless Network Connection.  I have to use Easylink to manually connect.  The WNC gives a msg that Windows cannot configure this wireless connection and to configure the wireless connection using Wireless Zero Configuration service.  When I configure WZC correctly the WNC sees all available networks and allows me to select the Advanced Wireless checkbox to allow Windows to connect to the wireless network.  However, when I reboot the computer none of the configuration parameters are saved and I am back to manually connecting using Easylink and going through the entire process again.   Any suggestions?    Thx  

    Uninstall the EasyLink and connect manually. I think EasyLink 3.0 or later is coming soon ..

  • Conflict with McAfee and BT Hub

    I recently bought a new McAfee subscription to cover both the Mac and Bootcamp operations. Installation was blocked saying an application was already installed. McAfee support spent 2 hours trying to resolve this, without success.  They uninstalled my previous version of McAfee, so I am now without virus protection. I have just installed superfast broadband.  BT tell me there is a known issue with their hub and the Mac OS, following an update to the Mac OS.  It took them 90 minutes to install a temporary fix so I could send e-mail.  Anyone know what's going on?  Regards, Adrian

    You won't find much support for or reason to use McAfee for 10.6.8 or 10.8.3
    As for Windows, you really don't need their paid subscription. Use MS Security Essentials now for years. Ask  if you want on Bootcamp  forum. That will handle Windows 7 & 8 just fine.

  • How can I fix conflict with Thunderbird and my ISP (Shaw.ca) provided McAfee?

    When "Real-Time Scanning" is running, Thunderbird goes to "not responding" for a minute or so and CPU usage often goes to 100 %. If I turn off "Real-Time Scanning" TB seems to work okay, but I expect I am vulnerable to viruses. This problem has been going on for a couple of weeks.
    I used to use "Avira" with no problems but McAfee is provided "free" to subscribers.

    You can keep McAfee if you like, just disable email scanning as explained in the wiki link cited above.

    The free version of Avira might suit your needs, and by design it doesn't have the email scanning component of the paid version, a dubious benefit at best.

  • JQuery Conflicts with Muse and Plugins

    Hello Community,
    Recently, we ran into problems with jquery libraries (and my programmers were unable to fix it...suggesting I just make a stand-alone page in Dreamweaver/Komodo) when trying to insert that awesome LayerSlider from CodeCanyon. The problem: Muse calls an older jquery library than the one the LayerSlider needs (and once we updated it to the newest jquery standard, Muse no longer worked!). Hmmm. I wonder if there can be any type of fix for this as well????
    Has anyone got a work around to this (besides creating the page in its entirety with an IDE, then FTPing it after the Muse FTP in order to overwrite the index.html? (That's what we will have to do, since we definitely want that LayerSlider on the home page)).

    Design work! Anything server-side unless I either revert to an older version of DW or cobble in the 3rd party fix to restore all the server-side functionality.   I love Muse because I can make things look the way I want them too very easily.  Here is a sample basic dialog.  Clearly does not look like the "canned" jquery dialog with the canned ui-dialog-titlebar or ui-dialog-content. For this one I've used a blank compo, single t/t, set the container to transparent enabled a close button, layered in a rectangle for the tombstone and a seperate one for the actual content, stylized the close button to get my "look".  Then tweaked the jquery to get rid of the padding, borders and corner radius, so I can set radius individually.  Not very elegant but the only way I could get a "title bar" to look like I wanted and a "content" area slightly smaller so as to complement the slide action, giving the effect that the "content" is retracting up into the "title bar" on collapse, like you see with an accordian.
    There are multiple dialogs on the page. Triggers appear to be "menu items".  When a target is triggered the target needs to allow a user to min/max/dock/collapse the different dialogs. 
    I don't mind using Muse in conjunction with DW, not a problem.  Just need to figure out how to get the look in Muse coupled with the functionality in DW.  Now since I exported to html I do have the .png files so...... maybe a way to use the .png files in DW instead...........
