Row Selector column on Interactive Report

Hi all,
I have an interactive report based on a custom SQL query. How do I add a row selctor column so I cans select individual rows? I have also tried using a tabular form which also does not display a row selctor column. This is odd as my other tabular forms display a row selctor column.
Many thanks for you help,
Chris

Chris,
Usually when someone wants a row selector, it's to choose a few rows by clicking a checkbox, then doing something with them. I'm guessing that's what you're looking for?
Martin Giffy D'Souza's [blog post|http://apex-smb.blogspot.com/2009/01/apex-report-with-checkboxes-advanced.html] explains one way to do that which should work for you. I haven't tried, it, but it looks pretty comprehensive.
Good luck,
Stew

  • Apex 3.0 to 3.2, Updateable Reports & Row Selector Column?

    Good afternoon,
    (I searched the forum for both of these topics but didn't find an answer, it may be there and I missed it. If so, just point me in the right direction if you don't mind.)
    We just upgraded from 3.0.1.00.07 to 3.2.0.00.27.
    In 3.0 there was the option to select 'SQL Query (updateable report)' as a report type. I don't see that available now. What am I doing wrong?
    Also in 3.0, I would add a Row Selector column to a report by selecting 'SQL Query (updateable report)' as a report type, then clicking Row Selector in a side region to the right to add a row selector column, then I would change the report type back to SQL Query and the row selector column would remain. In 3.2 how do I get a row selector column added to a report?
    Thx, Tony

    But, yes, it can be installed with Forms & Reports Standalone. The http server with F&R ships with modplsql; that's all you need. Just configure a DAD as described in the documentation for setting it up with App Server.

  • How to create a report region which the first colomn is row selector column

    I want to create a report region and its first column is a row selector column. I have used select sentence to select some columns. But I do not know how set the first column to row selector column. I mean I want to do as follow. When a radio which is first column is chosen, it will return it's value of the column in the chosen row. Please help me! Thanks

    Hi unnamed,
    Suppose you have an id that identifies your record.
    Go to Report definiton, tab report attirbutes.
    Select the id of your record.
    Create a link to the page you want to go to.
    Hope this helps.
    If not, I suggest you to create a from with report, and analyze the way the wizard has generated it.

  • Need to fix the width of a column in interactive report

    Hi,
    I have a column named 'Comment'. Its have a huge data due to which the lenght of that column in interactive report get increased. I need to fix the length to a desired value.
    I used following code in Region Footer:
    <style>
    table.apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA td[headers=COMMENTS] {
      _width: 300px;
      min-width: 50px;
      max-width: 300px }
    </style>
    Its solved the problem by fixing the width of the column but the column is not showing the full data now. It is hiding most of its part to fit it in that column.
    Please give some idea.
    Thanks,
    Chandru

    Hi,
    I believe you will want to add a height specification to allow for multiple lines.  And you may want/need to specifiy how you want lines to wrap.
    Add (for example):
      height: 60px;
      white-space: nowrap;
      word-wrap: break-word;
    There are defaults and several options for white-space and word-wrap.  You may want to look them up and give them a try for comparison.

  • Limitation of row and column in FR report

    Hi all,
    i want to know what is the maximum number of row and column that we can display in FR report.
    and is there any possibility to increase the number of row and column in FR reports,if yes then how?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Andy,
    I think your asking if this or something similar could be used to go to another page rather than as a popup? The answer is yes. since you have already done the decode in your query, you can just go to the Report Attributes tab (I'm using version 2.2.1.00.04) and click the edit button for the column. Then, you can simply go to the
    HTML Expression [Insert column value] text area and insert:
    <!--
    <b>#A#<b>
    This will give you everything that is in the column link section, but I find it easier to work with since it's all together (personal preference).
    I reread your post and realized that you wanted to pass the A as a value and not the summary value of the column. I simply removed the #'s. I think this should work. I also kept the summary value using the #A# as the link. I belive that you can copy and paste this into each column (replacing the A with the appropriate column header of course...).
    If I were doing this I might create a CASE statement in the query and evaluate for null before creating the link. Here is an example of using that approach:
    CASE WHEN "STATUS" = 'U' AND ("CREATEDBY"=:APP_USER OR :APP_USER='MY_USER')
    THEN ''
    || '<img src="#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#edit.gif" border="0" alt="Click here to Edit">'
    || ''
    ELSE ''
    END LINK,

  • Display BLOB (image) column in (interactive) report

    Hi,
    I have a field called "picture" in my table "details" which is of type BLOB. i also have a field for "MIMETYPE" and "filename"
    i additionally have a "name" and "description" columns which i need to display along with the picture as columns in a report (preferably interactive).
    i have also modified the BLOB display format as per
    http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/db/apex/r31/apex31nf/apex31blob.htm
    what i am missing is the correct query. if possible, i would like to control the size of the picture rendered within the report like say 40*50.
    I have also referred to the thread
    APEX 3.1 Display BLOB Image
    But i don't know how to place the
    dbms_lob.getlength("BLOB_CONTENT") as "BLOB_CONTENT"
    in my query.
    The above also makes the report column as of type "number". is this expected?
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Ramakrishnan

    You haven't actually said what the problem is?

            , description
            , dbms_lob.getlength(picture) picture
    from
              details
    if possible, i would like to control the size of the picture rendered within the report like say 40*50.For images close to this size it's easy to do this for declarative BLOB images in interactive reports using CSS. Add a style sheet with:
    .apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA td[headers="PICTURE"] img {
      display: block;
      width: 40px;
      border: 1px solid #999;
      padding: 4px;
      background: #f6f6f6;
    }where the <tt>PICTURE</tt> value in the attribute selector is the table header ID of the image column. Setting only one dimension (in this case the width) scales the image with the correct aspect ratio. (The border, padding and background properties are just eye candy...)
    However, scaling large images in the browser this way is a huge waste of bandwidth and produces poorer quality images than creating proper scaled down versions using image tools. For improved performance and image quality, and where you require image-specific scaling you can use the database ORDImage object to produce thumbnail and preview versions automatically, as described in this blog post.

  • Change standard rows (15) in an interactive report

    Hello,
    I want to change the default value for rows in an interactive report (15).
    It should be displayed in principle always 50 rows. I have unfortunately found no setting which I can change that.
    A search on the net and forum brought no help.
    Can someone help me maybe?

    Ah. Try this -- it was a surprise to me.
    Edit the report but this time click the "Saved Reports" tab at the top. Select your report. Click the report checked box -- I don't know if this is necessary. Then in the "Actions" > "Rows Per Page", what number is highlighted? Highlight 50. If the selector doesn't go up the 50, increase the Maximum Rows Per Page back on the "Report Attributes" tab. The saved report should now be set to 50 lines per. Login in again and restart your report.
    Finally - maybe,

  • Help with implementing Row Level Security in Interactive Reporting

    We're deploying Hyperion BI+ 9.3.1, using Workspace and Interactive Reporting. I'm researching how we can use the Workspace row level security option. I've read what's available for documentation in the Workspace Administrator Guide and the Interactive Reporting Users Guide. I understand the concept of setting up rules with row_level_security.bqy, but I'm confused about where these tables should go and what actually happens when I go to Workspace > Administrator > Row Level Security and turn it on.
    The Administrator's Guide tells me the "properties" are stored in the repository, but the "rules" are in the "data source". Does that mean my BRIOSEC* tables go in the database I'm running my reports from? If so, then what's the data source I'm filling in on Workspace > Administrator > Row Level Security?
    I have many different database connections going to different Oracle and SQL*Plus instances, and I don't want to apply row level security to all of them. How does Workspace tell the difference between them? If I enable rules but create a report from a database that doesn't have rules defined for it, what happens?

    The 3 tables used with the RLS are stored in the same schema as your repository by default.
    The RLS store all the Rules for any database that you are using.
    You define the rules based on the tablename (owner.tablename) and the column name.

  • Expanding column header interactive Reports dynamically

    In my interactive Reports one of my columns specifically my db_CUSTOMER_NAME column can be from 3 to 50 characters. (or even longer...)
    Was wondering how i can dynamically expand that td column "Dynamically" because i dont want to put a fix length just because there maybe 2 records that goes over +50 characters.
    Right now i set my column width to 150 px and there the occasional word wrap that happens which i don't want as it looks "funny."

  • Adding Every Row From a Filtered Interactive Report to a Collection

    I'm creating an email list maintenance application in Apex 3.1. I have an Interactive Report on an email address table. I want the users to be able to run this IR and then click a button to add all of the resulting email addresses into a selected mailing list table. The interface needs to be as quick and simple for the user as possible, so I don't want to force them to click a checkbox beside hundreds of rows.
    Is there a way to add every resulting row from a custom IR to an apex_collection?
    I know that collections can be created based on a query with the CREATE_COLLECTION_FROM_QUERY call. But I don't think it's possible to reference the SQL statement which is dynamically generated through an Interactive Report. I'm referring to the SQL created after the user has applied filters. If there were, then I would just create the collection that way. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin
    I couldn't find a place where the filters are stored either - it would be nice to know.
    It is possible to get to the filters via javascript as they are actually stored in a table with an id of "apexir_CONTROL_PANEL_COMPLETE". Within there, there are rows for each filter and each row has four cells. The second cell contains an A tag that has the filter itself as the text displayed as a hyperlink on screen. The third cell contains the checkbox that enables/disables the filter. Strings and numbers seem to be formatted ok, so you could pick up these values and create your own WHERE clause, populate a hidden field somewhere and then pick that up to generate a full select statement to get to the id's that you need.
    I haven't yet tried this, so this is theory only - but I can't see that it wouldn't work

  • Changing the default number of rows displayed in a interactive report

    Hi,
    I have a sql query based interactive report but i cant change the default number of pages i.e 15.
    is there any way to change the number of rows displayed.
    Thank you,
    rakesh

    Hi,
    That was very useful document that you shared, yes that is correct we can so it this way but there is another way doing it where in if you go to the report attribute section and in that there is Layout and Pagination and under
    that you can fix the number of rows, and over there we can also accept values from page item such as if the page item value changes the number of rows displayed in the report changes dynamically.
    In my report i get only pagination but not a option for layout.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    And also where i can get the links to the similar document that you have shared ?

  • Displaying different colors for cells/columns in Interactive Report

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to display just the 'cells' in the Interactive Report columns with different colors.
    There are 3 columns in the Interactive report.
    The color coding for all the 3 different columns should be such that:
    <40% - red color
    40-70-orange
    greater than 70%-green
    I tried the highlight option in the report and saved the report as default, but still the color condition ended up getting displayed to the end user. I dont want this.
    Can someone suggest a better way to handle this requirement?
