RTF Layout

Hi All...
I'm developing a BI Pub report using the table wizard plugin in the template builder..I'll be getting an output as below..
name            rank          code          amount
product1        1              pd1            1000
product1        1              pdr             1000
product1        1              pdc1           1000
product1        1              nbv             1000
product2        2              pd2             1000
product2        2              pdr2            1000
product2        2              pdc2            1000
product2        2              nbv2            1000
product3        3              pd3             2000
product3        3              pd3             2000
product3        3              pdc3           2000
product3        3              nbv3           2000
---------------------------------------------------------------Is it possible to get an output like this...
name            rank          code          amount
product1        1              pd1
product1        1              pdr
product1        1              pdc1
product1        1              nbv             1000
product2        2              pd2
product2        2              pdr2
product2        2              pdc2
product2        2              nbv2             1000
product3        3              pd3
product3        3              pd3
product3        3              pdc3
product3        3              nbv3             2000
---------------------------------------------------------------The amount column should show only one value for that perticular product....
I've seen some threads in this forum and in Tim's blog but couldn't match my spec...
http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/2007/04/my_duplicates_made_duplicates.html
Thanks in advance....

Thanks for the reply...
For product1 it should show 1000 and for product2 also it should show 1000 one time...but using the function you gave it shows 1000 for both products1 and product2 at once
also, can I make the lines dissapear in that perticular column if the value is null..?

  • Report XML output fail to load into .RTF layout [EBS r12]

    Hi,
In EBS r12, we have requirement to have a standard report output in excel.
I got the report's xml output to create the xml template (.RTF layout) using BI Publisher.
I created the .RTF layout and it works fine on my laptop using Bi Publisher.. the xml loads into it and i can preview xml data on layout with all format (Excel, PDF...)
I uploaded the layout to EBS, and assigned it to the standard report.
I changed standard report out put to XML
When i go to submit report request, the template is assigned with report and everything seems correct.
    [See screen shot: http://img35.imageshack.us/i/xmlt.jpg/]
But after i run the report.
The report is Completed with Warning status.. and output is only XML with Error message :
This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.
    The Log file says :
    Executing request completion options...
    ------------- 1) PUBLISH -------------
Beginning post-processing of request 2350601 on node CLONE at 13-APR-2011 09:03:47.
Post-processing of request 2350601 failed at 13-APR-2011 09:03:48 with the error message:
One or more post-processing actions failed. Consult the OPP service log for details.
    ------------- 2) PRINT   -------------
Not printing the output of this request because post-processing failed.
    Finished executing request completion options.
Why this is happening ? i have done this many times with other standard reports and it worked fine.
    Please advise.
    Standard Report: Supplier Aging Report
    EBS : 12.1.1

please check the log file and post the output here
How to find OPP log file?
To investigate on XML issues or other publishing problems, often the OPP logfile is needed.
OPP stands for Output Post Processor. Below are the steps to find log file
    1. Login to the application as SYSADMIN
    2. Responsibility: System Administrator
    3. Function: Concurrent --> Manager --> Administration
    4. Select the Output Post Processor
    5. Click on the Processes button
    6. Select the Concurrent Process which was active during the time that the request ran
    7. Click on the Manager Log button to open the Output Post Processor log file

In My RTF layout I need the results displayed as follow is a table. My problem is that I can get the location, season,Active status & count on the same line as follows:
    <E_LOCID> - <E_SEASONDESC> - <E_STATUSCODE> - <E_STATUSVAL>
    <E_STATUSCODE> - <E_STATUSVAL>

    <E_SEASONDESC> - <E_STATUSCODE> - <E_STATUSVAL>
    <E_STATUSCODE> - <E_STATUSVAL>
I have been able to achieve similar by putting location on row 1, season, on row 2, and the status on rows 3 & 4...n
    <E_LOCID>
    <E_SEASONDESC>
    <E_STATUSCODE> - <E_STATUSVAL>

The problem is that I need them on the same line, and the 3 nested for-each do not display correcly when doing like this.
Can anyone suggest something for me?
    Thank you

Have you tried for-each@inlines, that might be more favorable solution for your problem. For every row you want, simply put a restriction on the amount that you want to be on a line.
In plain english: Set the predicate to indicate the max amount to fields to print on the line ie: position >= 3
    Technical example:
    First Line:      <?for-each@inlines:THE_FIELD[position() <= 3]?><?current()?><end loop?>
    Second Line:     <?for-each@inlines:THE_FIELD[position() > 3 and position() <= 6]?><?current()?><end loop?>Make Sense?

  • Report - RTF layout issue

    Hi,
I have done customization in Quote Print report using Reports 6i. I get the output appropriately if i select PDF format. But in RTF format, the last line of each page is not/partially displayed. Also the last character of each line is getting cut-off if it spans across entire line,(because the field/frame border line is overwriting the last character).
Please post your suggestions here on resolving the above issue.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Ajith Gopinath

Play with changing your frames to have horizontal/vertical elasticity of variable. There is also a Metalink note that talks about some boilerplate being truncated (not sure if that applies to you). The note is 433464.1. It says to do that following:
    1. Set the environment variable: REPORTS_ENABLE_RTF_SPACING=YES
    2. From Reports Builder, for the text field giving the problem, go to Layout menu Format -> Text Spacing -> Custom -> Other = 1 pts.
    Both steps must be performed.
The environment variable would also have to be done on the server you are deploying reports to.

  • Issue with RTF layout vs. PDF layout

I'm creating a report that needs to have output for both PDF and RTF. I have a simple request, I need to have 1 line drawn in the report. No data issues or anything else, just a simple line.
I've used the auto-shape menu to draw a line and it appears in my PDF output but not my RTF output. I've also tried having a table be in my layout and just show the bottom or top border. The problem with that is that in the RTF output, the user will see the other lines of the table whether I like it or not.
In the BI Pub manual it says, 'BI Publisher supports Microsoft Word drawing, shape, and clip art features. You can add these objects to your template and they will be rendered in your final PDF output.' Anyone know if this is worded this way because Oracle knows it won't work in your RTF output?
    Thanks!

Could you test it to be according to the following step?
    Step 1:
You must get the following values from application.
              SELECT xt.template_code
              ,xt.application_short_name
              ,xt.application_id
              ,xt.template_type_code

  • Changing the Report - RTF layout

    Hi.
I run the report output to RTF format. It works fine. But When I open with MS-Word the page layout is showing too small. I can't change layout anything from MS-WORD.
What to do for viewing output of Report - 80x66 (letter size) page in MS-WORD in the same size.
    pls. help me.
    thanks in advance

    Hello Syed,
I tried to reproduce your problem on Reports Builder 6i (6.0.8.22.0) and Reports Builder 9i (9.0.2.1.1). But in both cases, output of a report generated to RTF shows up with proper sizing in MS Word.
If you are able to reproduce the problem with the latest patch, please provide a detailed description of the problem.
    Thanks,
    The Oracle Reports Team.

try this, there must be simpler one i guess...
    1. take a form field, and make its type as number. Paste the below one <?xdoxslt:set_variable($_XDOCTX,'v1',2)?>
    2. now take a table with as below,
    A l B |
    C l D1 l D2 l E1 l E2 l
observe that i. A, C are in one column
ii. cell B is on top of D1, D2
iii. we have no cell on top of E1 and E2 cells
iv. 'l' represents the wall of the cell :)
    A: <?horizontal-break-table:1?> SCHEMECODE
    B: <?for-each-group@column:G_SCHEMECODE;ASSET_TYPE?> <?ASSET_TYPE?> <?end for-each?>
    C: <?for-each-group:G_SCHEMECODE;SCHEMECODE?> <?xdoxslt:set_variable($_XDOCTX,'v1',2)?> <?SCHEMECODE?>
    D1: <?for-each-group@cell:current-group();ASSET_TYPE?> <?MARGIN?> <?xdoxslt:set_variable($_XDOCTX,'v1',xdoxslt:get_variable($_XDOCTX,'v1')-1)?>
    D2: <?AMOUNT_SECURED?> <?end for-each?> <?end for-each?>
    E1: <?for-each@column:xdoxslt:foreach_number($_XDOCTX,1,xdoxslt:get_variable($_XDOCTX,'v1'),1)?>
    E2: <?END FOR-EACH?>
    3. If you are confused gimme your email id, i will pass the template. But you should add credits to me.. :)

  • Can you edit the RTF layout manually WITHOUT using wizards?

    Hi,
In Oracle Reports we can edit the layout in the layout editor. I.e. we can add fields, repeating frames and drag the objects to any position we want. Can you do the same in BIP, instead of using a wizard?
Is it recommended? Or should we always only the wizards provided by the BIP Menu?
    Thanks & Regards,
    C.S.

I mentioned XML only becasue you will need to be familiar with your XML data stream (i.e. the elements avalaible for use inyour RTF template), if you are not using the BIP toolbar, as you will not be able to choose them from a list, like you can with the toolbar.
There are aspects of XSL you will eventually require but these can be picked up as you go by reading on this forum and others Blogs, and the BIP user guide of course. (You get the user guide when you install the toolbar!)

    Dave

  • How to use XDOXSLT in rtf template layout for etext template creation

  • How to get EBS Concurrent Request number (and more) into BIP Report Layout

    hi,
I have been using BIP for 9 months but have several years experience of Reports 6i development (matrix, drill-thru etc). We are beginning to use BI Publisher with EBS and would like to be able to incorporate the Concurrent Request number into the report layout (preferably in the footer area). I have looked back over previous forum posts and have found mention of how to get the report parameters into the XML datastream and template, but nothing for the Concurrent Request number. I've also looked at the DevTools/Reports forum but cannot see anything similar there.
It would add a lot of value to generated output for end-users if this information (+ environment/instance name etc) can be put into the layout.
    Sean

    Hi
Create a data query in data template/reports as
    select fnd_global.conc_request_id "REQUEST_ID" from dual
and this will pick up the request id and then u can use it in the RTF layout
    Hope this helps..

  • A report layout  for address labels using Word's label-table

    Hello,
I sent the following question to the BIPublisher forum, but didn't get any answers. Maybe it wasn't the right forum. I'm a little desperate with this problem, because I have spent days trying to solve this. Could somebody please help with this ? :
I'm not familiar with BI Publisher, but I should only do one thing with it, which seems rather easy. I need a rtf layout to be used in APEX to create an address label PDF-report. I tried using mail merge to create an empty table for the labels and added XSL (I suppose ?) element <?for-each:ROW?> in the first cell to loop over each ROW (which contains an address) in XML file. The problem is that I haven't found a way this would put the next row (address) to the next cell (filling first all the cells of the first row and so on). The previous loop only places one address in each table row. I read about for-each@column element in another thread, could it be used here ?
The rtf layout is created in Word with BIPublisher's template builder for Word.
I have for example tried placing XSL or FO elements inside the loop or marks that would call Word's own NextCell routine but haven't found anything.
    Tiina

    Hi Tony,
    Thank you for your answer.
I'm not sure, if I understood this correctly:
You could fake out the number of lines, such that the layout will always have 4 or 5 lines of output, even if one line is blank, it will print out properly..
Do you mean that the layout should have for example 4 cells ?
    and...
If you build the select to give you a space filled column where no data is present, and ship that to bi publisher, it should work..
Do you mean that the report query in APEX should have an extra column ?
    Could you please explain ?

  • Changing default template layout from pdf to excel

    Hi,
I've created an .rtf layout template. When I run the concurrent program, the layout defaults to pdf format. Is there anyway to change this to excel so that the user doesn't have to go into options each time and select excel?
    Thank you.

Yes, but you will probably need to apply a couple of patches. Background article here: http://garethroberts.blogspot.com/2009/01/revisited-changing-default-layout.html

  • How to call the attachment(application attachment) in RTF

    Hi Friends,
can any one help me, how to call the attached document in XMl Publisher(RTF).
The attachement is done in application for "order Management". We have design the xml file from "oracle reports"(RDF) and designing the layout in XML Publisher(RTF).
Please help me how can i handle this in RTF.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
If you mean where are attachments stored so you can get the contents, see my blog post here:
    http://garethroberts.blogspot.com/2007/08/document-attachments-private-stuff.html
With regards to getting them into RTF layout, it may depend on what type of attachment they are - short/long text/URLs will be fine, file attachments (LOBs) may depend on the contents - certain types of images will be fine, other file type attachments (like PDF, DOC, etc) I'm not sure - on my list of things to look at.
    Regards,
    Gareth

I believe I am having a similar problem, except I did remember to remove the terminating semicolon after pasting my SQL query into BI Publisher.
I have a report which is simply a copy of a different report which works perfectly in all ways. The copy has only had its SQL edited, and I get the same error:
    "Failed to load auto layout"
Also, the data won't finish loading into Excel when I hit the 'Excel Analyzer' button from the web interface from the 'View' screen. It leaves me with an empty sheet called 'remove_me_please'. I feel like removing the whole damned BI Publisher system from our servers when I see this.
What is so confounding is THE REPORT GENERATES VALID DATA! I can set the output to 'Data' and the XML produced is perfect. I can even make a pivot table in the Online Analyzer. I just can't autogenerate an RTF layout or use the Excel Analyzer. I'm using a fully updated version of .NET 2, and fully patched MS Office 2003 Pro. BI Publisher version is 10.1.3.3.2, and the Excel & Word add-ins are those downloaded from our BI Publisher server.
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEMS IN THE QUERY IF THE QUERY WORKS IN MOST SITUATIONS. It works in Toad, and even in BI some ways. The SQL interpreter needs to be trashed and rebuilt from the ground up. This system stinks, Oracle! I have been very frustrated with BI Publisher for the 6 months I've been using it. That Query Builder has got to go, too! (No numeric aggregation? What is wrong with you?)
Furthermore, even after we update everyone's MS Office and .NET, the 'Oracle BI Publisher' menu doesn't even show up in half the installations we do. Everyone around here is starting to doubt that IT is really going to come through on their reporting needs. I'm thinking 6i sounds really good right now.
