RTMPT takes 20-25 seconds for a response

Hi,
I am trying to connect to the Flash media servers from behind a customer's firewall.
From behind this firewall the time taken for a response (its usually success) is around 20-25 seconds.
The following is the code I am using to make the connection and listen to the events
var nc = new NetConnection();
nc.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS,netStatusHandler);
var time1:String = (new Date()).toTimeString();
trace(time1+" - Making the connection to FMS");
nc.connect("rtmpt://<dnsnameofserver>:80/live");
function netStatusHandler(evt:NetStatusEvent)
    var time2:String = (new Date()).toTimeString();
    trace(time2+": status:"+evt.info.code);
The delay between time1 and time2 is always 20-25 seconds. From other firewalls and non firewalled networks its usually 3-4 seconds.
What could be the reason for this huge delay for a response in this case. I have noticed that the first response is always a "NetConnection.Connect.Success".
We are looking to deploy around 20-30 media servers if we can get this thing to work and appreciate any prompt response in this regard.

If you try to ping FMS behind the firewall - how much latency do you see?
Also you can try to telnet to port 80 and see if that gives how much delay?
Also are there any proxy server sitting between FMS and client making rtmpt connect?

  • AFP logon window takes 60 - 90 seconds for remote users

    We have a 10.4.11 server running AFP and multiple other services. About 25 users connect to the AFP sharepoints via the internal network and the login window appears immediately. Another 25 users connect through a hardware VPN from another office and their login screen appears immediately as well. We have another set of 25 users who connect directly over the internet, and only recently, it is taking 60 - 90 seconds for the logon window to appear. Once it does appear, the connection runs at normal speed.
    It makes no difference whether the address is specified as FQDN or IP address. I've tried turning off Bonjour, and adding the host domain name to the search domains, but this made no difference either.
    This problem did not exist until recently. It may have been about the same time as the 10.5.4 update, but I can't be sure.
    Also, our ISP is known to play with "Shaping" although we did have AFP set to high priority and Port 548 is not restricted.
    Is there another service that Apple uses to bring up the logon window? If so perhaps our provider is restricting bandwidth on that.
    - Tim

    This problem related to AFP requesting a "Service Record" first and waiting until that timed out before requesting the "A" record for the site. It seems to be an issue with OS X 10.5.4 and OpenDNS. Hopefully they will sort it out soon.

  • Itunes 10.5.2 is running so slowly - it takes over 1 second for a track to start and whenever i move to a different position in the song using seek, it takes over 1 second for the audio to start playing

    Anyone having problems with iTunes 10.5.2?
    I'm having long times to start a track and then over 1 second to start playing again whenever I skip to another part of the track.

    Refer this article to reset Winsock to it's default.  Your PCTools may have inserted LSP.

    After reset and restarting windows, you may get a prompt to remap LSP, click no.

  • Just update Yosemite to 10.2.2 and now LR5 has that dreaded spinning wheel. Takes about 30 seconds for each click of Wacom pen or mouse. Adobe Bridge will not open. Worked fine prior to this update. have the latest LR5 installed and Bridge CC

    Is there some fix for this? this also affects my LR4. PS CC works fine and all other apps.

    It's usually necessary to clean up whats left behind after updating OSX.
    Try trashing the prefs. Start by quitting Lightroom 5.
    Launch Finder and click the Go menu whilst holding down the Option (alt) key. Then go to Library >> Preferences and clear everything relating to LR5 which usually means deleting the following files:
    com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist
    com.adobe.Lightroom5LSSharedFileList.plist
    Then re-launch Lightroom.
    Also look for the corresponding files for LR4 and Bridge plist files.

  • Save As takes over 30 seconds to show Save As dialog.

    Every time I click File - Save As it takes over 30 seconds for the Save As dialog window to show up.  I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Version 9.5.2

    I am continuing to have this problem. I have saved to a network location that is no loger available.  The company has changed the name and IP of the server.  So the network location i had previously saved to will never be available again.
    I believe the significatnly annoying delay in the appearance of the "Save As" dialog is the result of Acrobat trying to resolve an unavailable network location.
    How do I get Acrobat 9 to ignore the saved network location? Do I need to remove this network location from Acrobat 9 cache?  If so how do I do this?
    Thank you for your help.

  • Is 15 second for log archiving acceptable ?

    As you can see below sometimes it takes upto 15 seconds for the archiving of Redo logs.
    Online redo log switching is happening fast though . It takes less than 2 seconds (maybe not fast enough for you guys )

    =========
    For a DB in archivelog mode, ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG CURRENT and ALTER SYSTEM SWITCH LOGFILE have the same effect . Right ? I mean, both of these commands asks the archiver process to archive the ORL which is being currently written to. Right ?

    It's fast enough as long as you don't fill up all the online redo before you are finished archiving the first one. It's a round-robin, so if you get all the way around to the first one which is still being archived, everything will stop until it is done.
    The ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG CURRENT waits for the archiver to finish archiving, so it is slower than ALTER SYSTEM SWITCH LOGFILE, possibly much much so with larger redo.

  • TS3274 My ipad 3 takes about 30 seconds to come up.There is an Apple icon on the screen during that time.My friends have Ipads that come on instantly. What gives?

    My Ipad 3 takes about 30 seconds for the screen to come on (an Apple icon )is all that is on
    for the first 30 seconds or so. However my friend's have Ipad that come on instantly.What gives
    with mine?

    Are you switching your iPad off completely (i.e. using the 'slide to power off') and are they just putting their's into sleep mode ?

  • Computer takes 15-20 seconds to sleep after choosing it from menu?

    After I choose "Sleep" from the Apple menu, it doesn't sleep instantaneously as it used to, but instead takes 15 or 20 seconds to do so. It always DOES sleep eventually, just takes a while. I thought this might be because of Azuerus being open, but even when it is closed the problem persists.
    Anyone have any advice?
    Thanks!

    This same thing just started happening with my new Mini. No antivirus installed on my system and it only happens after my Mini has been used for several hours. After initial startup it sleeps right away but after several hours use it takes 10-20 seconds for it to go to sleep.

  • Activation of Samsung 226BW Monitor takes about 15 seconds

    Since I have upgraded Mac OS X to Yosemite (10.10) (currently using 10.10.1) my Samsung SyncMaster monitor (226 BW) on Thunderbold takes about 15 seconds for activation. Before I can see a picture on the monitor there is just a rustle with gray and black. I also know a second case where this problem is absolutely the same.
    Has anyone an idea how to solve this? I am using the original Apple Thunderbold to DVI adapter. The problem only occurs if I plugin the thunderbold adapter while my MacBook Pro is already running.

  • 6-8 seconds for a simple response

    On a single XP test-machine Flash Remoting is responsive. Now I distributed a simple application
    http://pyamf.org/wiki/HelloWorld
    which contains an echo server that decodes/encodes AMF3 messages and a Flex client equipped with an additional Button that sends a random number to the server, receives it back and displays the number in a TextArea. The machines are two XP notebooks or an XP notebook and a Vista desktop. Both listen to 192.68.1.33:8000.
    The startup of the client that fetches the crossdomain.xml with GET takes about 15s. Each subsequent POST of a random number and fetching it back from the echo server takes about 6-8 seconds.
    In comparison a pure Python echo/client server takes about one second to respond.
    I'm not sure what makes the connection so slow that it becomes unusable? Given the previously reported hassle with messages that never receive the Flash client I'm willing to finally give up on Flash Remoting.

    C-Rock schrieb:
    I don't know if this helps but I've been using Coldfusion with Flash Remoting for years and it is very responsive. In fact I created an application that had to build a jpeg. Flash can only handle 30 kb's of info transfered at a time. Needless to say creating a save jpeg function was difficult. I had to get data 64 times, transfer it and store it in a database with Coldfusion and mySQL and then retrieve it to rebuild the image and save it. It actually completes the whole process in about 5 seconds. That's the largest info I've ever thrown at remoting. The normal ordering of products and what not is very fast. I know it's a pain to switch but I swear by Coldfusion and Flash. It also helps that the same company makes them both.
    Hi C-Rock, thanks for your reply.
    I've put the problem on the site.
    The major issue is that it actually takes 8sec + X for each request in
    the local network to finish no matter how much data is transferred. So
    64 transfers would take about 8 minutes, not 5 seconds. Notice that the
    ping shows that the network is indeed responsive. So there must be
    something that causes delays and I'm not sure what it could be.
    I will try to localize the cause of those delays by replacing both
    client and server:
    1) Replace the Flash player by another AMF-enabled client. This can also
    be another instance of the server.
    2) Replace the Python AMF framework + WSGI server by flourinefx + IIS,
    BlazeDS+Tomcat, ColdFusion etc.
    It makes sense anyway to checkout various server side solutions. The
    server side bindings for the Flash shell application is tiny and I seek
    for solutions that run at least on Google App Engine for Python and Java.
    Regards

  • Firefox freezes about five seconds after I open it, and whenever I use Ctrl+alt+delete to close it I get told that it is waiting for a response from me.

    I am having a problem with Firefox. Whenever I open it, it runs fine for about five seconds and then freezes. A small white rectangle appears in the upper left corner of the browser window. The screen still scrolls fine, but whenever I try clicking on anything (including the menus in the toolbar), it just gives me an unresponsive 'ding' sound. When I try closing the programme with Ctrl+alt+delete, I get a message saying 'The system cannot end this programme as it is waiting for a response from you'. I originally had this problem with an earlier version of Firefox and tried installing Firefox 4 to see if this helped. It worked for two days and began doing it again. I have already tried un- and re-installing Firefox and restarting my computer, and Firefox will not run properly for long enough to let me disable any add-ons or plug-ins. What can I do to fix this?
    I've added a couple of screencaps of the problem. (or tried to)

    Have also since found out that to start FF4 in safe mode you just hold shift whilst double-clicking the icon. We only find these things out after the event, murphy's law!

  • Why does my macbook pro retina take 30 seconds for me to use it when i open the lid?

    For some reason it takes my macbook like 30 seconds for me to use it when i open the lid.  I cant move the mouse or anything until like 30 seconds go by is that normal or something wrong?  Its the new macbook retina display and never had this problem when i first got it.

    Are you running any applications when you open the lid, specifically any applications that are heavy on GPU usage such as iMovie or Photoshop?

  • After minimizing it takes up to 5 seconds for home screen to load

    Galaxy S3, Android 4.3: After minimizing, it takes up to 5 seconds for the home screen to load. The screen is empty, without icons or widgets (not black - just completely empty). Seems to be Firefox specific: Chrome and other applications are not affected by this. Highly annoying. Can this be fixed?

    I have an HTC Gingerbread device, and it has a problem with several different programs that if you use the Back button to exit Firefox and some other apps to the home screen, it crashes (white screen with HTC logo) and needs several seconds to rebuild. In my case, this seems to start at some point in a session, and then continues until I restart the device.
    So I don't think this is necessarily specific to your build of Android or the Samsung shell. I'm not sure what causes it. Since you have a popular device, you might check a forum like the following to see whether anyone has more insight there:

  • HT4623 I upgraded my iPad 2 and now it keeps locking up.  It takes 45 seconds to to unlock the device.  When I try to reply to an email it takes 10 to 12 seconds for each letter to appear.

    I have recently upgraded my iPad 2 to iOS7.  I am not happy because it is locking up.  It takes almost 45 seconds to enter my four digit code.  When I type an email it takes 10 to 12 seconds for the letters to appear.

    Resetting your settings
    You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
    Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
    Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.
