Rules for EJB Application

Hello,
I am developing an ejb application. I am still learning and this is my first application.
1) I am unable to understand where should use Entity Beans or session bean and why i mean how i justify my using Entity bean or session bean? If using entity beans how to decide that it should be BMP or CMP and why? how i justify using CMP or BMP?
2) I have heard that Entity beans are related to Persistant data if so then if some application design has 50 to 75 tables then should there be those many Entity Beans corresponing to those tables? if i use 50 to 75 entity beans then what effect will it have on performance??
it will be a great help if someone solve these queries by giving proper example. suppose in context a web application where vendors post there porduct to sell and different users come and purchase these products online.
Thanxs

Use session beans for business logic components and Entity beans for accessing persistent data. It is a common pattern to put up a "session facade" over the entity beans so that the client doesn't have to assume anything about storage and retrieval of data. You can have a 1-1 mapping between entity beans and database tables, but you don't have to. Read the online "Mastering EJB" book at www.theserverside.com to better understand the concept of EJB's.

  • Startup class/process for EJB application

    Hi,
I have an EJB module deployed on WebLogic8.1. My requirement is I would like to have a startup/shutdown class which is called when the EJB application is deployed. I have made some research and have found I can write startup/shutdown classes when for the server life cycle or for application life cycle events. Can anyone tell me write/deploy a startup/shutdown class for the EJB module life cycle.
    Thanks,
    Faizulla

    Hi,
For Server life cycle events you can write server startup/shutdown classes.(You can see it from the console application)
For application life cyccle events, please go through:
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/programming/app_xml.html#1007582
You can specify it <listener> part of application.xml.
This is impossible in J2EE standard. But perhaps this can be achieved by some app. server specific extensionYes,in earlier versiobns there was weblogic-ejb-extensions.xml file in which you can specify startup/shutdown class, like:
    <!DOCTYPE weblogic-ejb-extensions SYSTEM "weblogic-ejb-extensions.dtd" >
    <weblogic-ejb-extensions>
    <module-initializer-classs>
    <moduleinitializer-class-name>com.dcons.iss.ejb.MUTBStatusObject</moduleinitializer-class-name>
    </module-initializer-class>
    </weblogic-ejb-extensions>
But it's no longer in use.
I am still findind out a way for my EJB module initializer class.

So something where show me all the machines that hav 7.0.65 and also have any other version installed. Will run a msiexec /x "java" with a variable for all possible versions and force remove them all.

Need a query where I am looking for machines that have both java 7.0.65 and any other installed java version. I need to run a parse script to remove the older versions of java from the machines.
what is the point having collection that have java and any other installed java ? with this, you will get all machines that have java installed.
if you want to create collection that have java other versions of Java other than 7.0.65,you should try to use sub selected queries.
have a look at Garth post explaining about how to use sub     selected http://be.enhansoft.com/post/2014/09/24/Subselect-Query-for-SCCM-Queries-or-Collections-(WQL).aspx

  • Need suggestion for a database connection issue in an EJB Application

    Hi Friends,
I am facing some serious problem in my EJB application. Some times, my application is waiting for unknown reason while it connects to database as executing a stored procedure to get and assign a unique number to a transaction.
This stored procedure is used to get a unique number from database and update the database with the new unique number which is incremented by previous number.
During this waiting time, if any other transaction hits my application, then my application assigning same unique number to these 2 transactions.
But It is not happening always. It is happening very less number of times. What should I take care of the code to not happen this? Can I implement any synchronization kind of thing here?
If I implement synchronization kind of thing, If the first transaction gets the lock and waits for some time, then I think it will effect for subsequent transactions. Could You please suggest me on this issue?
    Thanks in Advance to All.

    Here is my datasources.xml :

  • What data binding framework to use for EJB(JPA) - Swing desktop application

    Hi!
I am developing EJB server application which mostly uses the same entities and session EJB's both for web and for desktop user interface. While JSF is working nicely, I am stuck with necessity to make decision with data binding framework to use for desktop application - I investigated:
    - JSR295 reference impementation at java.net (beans binding)
    - Eclipse JFace
    - JSR295 implementation at kenai.com (better beans binding)
    - JGoodies binding
At present I like JGoodies, but I am not sure whether I am not missing something - I guess - large enterprises should develop a lot of desktop applications as well and what binding framework they are using?

    user454720 wrote:

I create them sometimes but they are service tools, not part of the main application framework. Generally you keep everything on the server, web based - this keeps it secure, accessible and contained. With all the web 2.0 javascript toolkits available nowadays you can go quite far creating a desktop experience in a browser, with limitations.

  • Whcih on is better for distributed application (Spring POJOs    vs  EJB ) ?

    Hi All,
I want to develop a distributed standalone application in which I have used the following technologies
    Presentation Layer : Swings
    Business Layer : Spring POJOs
    Persistence Layer : Spring DAO
I will deploy the business logic in remote location then I will connect to the business components through
RMI.(without using EJB we can't get the middleware services, spring already provides some middleware services
like transcations and security but I think it is not providing load balancing)
If I use spring POJOs instead of EJB shall I get any benifits?
If I use spring POJOs how load balance the applicaton?
If we make multiple requests to the ejb container, multiple ejb objects will be created in order to provide the service in case stateless session beans. Is there any similar kind of service in spring POJOs?
Can I use spring for distributed standalone applications ?(I want Spring POJOs with middle ware services).
Is Spring best suitable for developing distributed standalone application?
Please suggest me which technologies are best to implement the distributed applications.(For standalone applications)
    Thanks in advance

You don't have an EJB dependency.
You don't get what EJBs are good for. Do you know what they're for? Do you know why you might prefer one over the other?
If I use spring POJOs how load balance the applicaton?Usually done in hardware (e.g., F5) or software (e.g., any Java EE app server) that's not yours. Your app should not be concerned with load balancing.
If we make multiple requests to the ejb container, multiple ejb objects will be created in order to provide the service in case stateless session beans. Is there any similar kind of service in spring POJOs?Depends on how you configure it.
Can I use spring for distributed standalone applications ?(I want Spring POJOs with middle ware services).Yes.
Is Spring best suitable for developing distributed standalone application?Define "best".
How well do you know Spring? If you don't know it well, I doubt that it can help you.
Please suggest me which technologies are best to implement the distributed applications.(For standalone applications)You can write this app without Spring or EJB.
Do you know how to write Java at all?

  • How can i design a EJB application using session Beans?

    Hello,
I am designing a Find application using EJB. Here a user is prompted a search page, where he can enter the search criteria's. Then on click of submit, the query is formed at the server side depending on what criteria's were selected. Then a jdbc query is performed and the results are returned back to the user. Here no session is maintained for the users. Can anyone suggest me how to design this application using EJB. Should i use entity beans for this or session beans will suffice? Should the jdbc query be performed in the bean itself or should it be outside in a helper class? Please kindlu suggest me the design for this application...
    Regards,
    Subbu

    Hi,
First of all, I'm unable to figure out why you need to use EJB for this scenario. You can write a helper class to frame and execute the query.
If you really want to use EJB, then I suggest you use a stateless Session Bean with transaction attribute as TX_NOT_SUPPORTED. From the session bean, you can call the helper class. But, by avoiding the session bean, you can eliminate remote calls, thus improving your performance. Also, check if the database & the db driver you are using supports sql caching.

  • Leave Quota generation with diifferent rules for different countries

    Hi,
I have the following requirement need help in achieving this.
Employers must grant 10 days paid leave to employees that worked for six consecutive months from the time of hiring and who worked on not less than 80 per cent of all schedule work days. This paid leave may be taken consecutively or separately. Where an employee's application to take paid leave will hinder the normal business operations, the employer may require the employee to take such paid leave at a different time.
The number of days of paid leave available to employees increases in proportion to employees' length of service as set forth in the below table.
    Years of Service  0.5  1.5  2.5  3.5   4.5   5.5   6.5+
    Paid Holidays         10    11  12   14    16    18    20
The right to annual paid leave expires after two years. In other words, annual paid leave left over from one year may be carried over and taken the next year only. For example, if an employee is awarded 10 days paid leave after their first 6 months of employment; those paid holidays will become invalid after 2.5 years of employment. Use them or lose them.
Simply put, holidays from one year can be carried over to the next year, but not to the third year. So, if you don't take your leave from one particular year within 12 months of that year ending, you will lose that first year's allowance.
Employee can take leave encashment of holiday leave only when leaving their employer. It is not legal for companies to buy up the holiday leave of those still working for the firm.
In my organization one PSG grouping has been used for all countries, it wont be possible to change the grouping now. In such a case how can we provide different rule for different country without customizing the Leave module.
Do we have to use any PCR for this, if yes which??

Use QUOMO Feature to give different entitilement to employees.
Leave entitlement as per seniority can be configured in base entitlement.
Keep validity and deduction period for 2 years by using :Relative postion" option in validity and deduction period table.

  • How can I make server use single class loader for several applications

I have several web/ejb applications. These applications use some common libraries and should share instances of classes from those libraries.
But applications are being deployed independently thus packaging all them to EAR is not acceptable.
I suppose the problem is that each application uses separate class loader.
How can I make AS use single class loader for a set of applications?
Different applications depend on different libraries so I need a way that will not share library for all applications on the domain but only for some exact applications.
When I placed common jar to *%domain%/lib* - all works. But that jar is shared between all applications on the domain.
When I tried to place common jar to *%domain%/lib/applibs* and specified --libraries* attribute on deploying I got exception
    java.lang.ClassCastException: a.FirstDao cannot be cast to a.FirstDaoHere http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E19879-01/820-4336/6nfqd2b1t/index.html I read:
If multiple applications or modules refer to the same libraries, classes in those libraries are automatically shared.
This can reduce the memory footprint and allow sharing of static information.Does it mean that classes should be able to be casted ?

You didn't specify which version of the application server you are using, but the config is similar as long as you know what to look for. Basically, you need to change the classloader delegation. Here's how it is done in 8.2
