Run a workflow with a low security role profile

Hello,
I created a workflow that is sending an email to the administrator when a certain action has to be done. To make sure this workflow has actually been running, I ended it with a step that update a two option field as 'Email sent'.
I would like to lock this field for users because I only want them to read it but not change its data. So I enabled security role.
The problem is that since I made that, the workflow cannot be run because users don't have the security role to change this field.
I found out while browsing thrgough the internet that I had to check 'Execute as the owner of the workflow', but this didn't help.
So does anyone has a response to my problem or another way to manage it? A solution that does not involve any code because I'm not working in IT at all, we're a small company and so I'm a salesman.
Thanks for your help.
Sylvain

Hi,
     Create these 2 fields as non-searchable fields so users cannot search them.  If the user does not need to change these fields, make the fields read-only on the form. There is no need to use security role profile and play with
security roles for this.
Hope this helps.

  • Issue with generating a security role in program CRMD_UI_ROLE_PREPARE

    Hello -
      We have recently upgrade from CRM 2007 from CRM 4.0. We are working with the Business Roles and generating the security role from the business role using CRMD_UI_ROLE_PREPARE. We first create a simple test Business Role, a Z* copying from TPM_ROLE. Then we generated the security using CRMD_UI_ROLE_PREPARE. This was fine. Now was have copied a Business Role from TPM_ROLE that is one we want to use. We have created our own Z* Nav Bar and Role Config Key. This is working fine, but now when we try to generate using CRMD_UI_ROLE_PREPARE, the txt file is not generated, though there are no errors in the log. We can still generate the security role from our simple test. We have looked on line, and read the article in CRM Expert in June on Business Roles, but have not found the solution yet. Has anyone run into this?
    thanks
       George

    This is how I used this program:
    A. Generate required authorization objects
    1.     T-Code: SA38
    2.     Enter report CRMD_UI_ROLE_PREPARE and choose Execute.
    3.     Select your Business Role.
    4.     Choose language EN.
    5.     Choose Execute.
    Result: A file is created for each Business Role and saved on your computer in the SAP working directory. If you are working with Microsoft Windows XP, this file is saved in C:\Documents and Settings\<User ID>\SapWorkDir\.
    B. Assign authorization objects
    1.     T-Code: PFCG
    2.     Enter your Role and choose Change.
    3.     On the Menu tab choose Import from file and upload the file previously created.
    4.     Choose Save.
    Then adapt the authorizations if needed and choose Generate.

  • Running oracle workflow with J2EE

    I am testing my new workflow installation on Oracle 10gApps. I downloaded Oracle Workflow with JwEE components from the OTN, but that seems used for NT only. My apps server is in unix. I can not go any further because I don't have oc4j for my client (nt) computer. Can someone help? All I want to do is to make sure I can run an sample workflow process, by submitting a request from web, and send the notification to someone. Thanks.

    Hello,
    All the PL/SQL engine API's have equivalent Java api's which you can call from your Java application.
    Oracle Workflow with J2EE Components download from OTN provides you with the instructions on running a J2EE application. The whitepaper documents step to deploy in a J2EE container in the windows env. The basic steps should not change in UNIX or any other platform.
    To set up the mailer on 2.6.2, please take a look at the Workflow Guide. There is a complete section on how to set up and run the Notification Mailer
    If you are running 2.6.3, then the mailer is Java based and is part of the Workflow Manager pages. Refer to the on-line help of the Workflow Manager.

  • Security-role and security-role-assignment not working in WL7.0

    Hello all..
    Some EJB components that worked fine in WebLogic 6.1 no longer work in
    WL7.0. It has to do with the security-role and security-role-assignment
    descriptor elements no longer allowing anonymous users to be included in the
    authorization for a bean.
    For example, in WL6.1 placing these items in ejb-jar.xml:
    <assembly-descriptor>
    <security-role>
    <role-name>Employees</role-name>
    </security-role>
    <method-permission>
    <role-name>Employees</role-name>
    <method>
    <ejb-name>CustomerEJB</ejb-name>
    <method-name>*</method-name>
    </method>
    </method-permission>
    and mapping WebLogic default users to this role in weblogic-ejb-jar.xml:
    <security-role-assignment>
    <role-name>Employees</role-name>
    <principal-name>guest</principal-name>
    <principal-name>system</principal-name>
    </security-role-assignment>
    worked fine for clients creating their context using a simple
    InitialContext() constructor without specifying SECURITY_PRINCIPAL or
    SECURITY_CREDENTIALS. These users were basically "guest" to WebLogic, and
    the security-role-assignment element above told WebLogic that "guest" was in
    the Employees role for purposes of this EJB archive.
    Worked in WL6.1, no longer works in WL7.0. Client receives typical
    permission exception:
    java.rmi.AccessException: Security violation: insufficient permission to
    access method 'create'
    If I explicity connect as "system" things are fine, or I can create a new
    user in the default realm in WebLogic, put a matching <principal-name>
    element in the section above, and connect as that user. Note that if I leave
    off the <security-role> section completely, or set the required role name to
    "everyone", the anonymous access works fine. Apparently the anonymous user
    is a member of "everyone" behind the scenes even though "everyone" does not
    appear in the realm list of groups or roles.
    So, my question boils down to this: Is there a "magic" username in WL7 like
    "guest" was in WL6.1 that can be mapped to the required role name, or must
    every client connection use a true weblogic-created user with appropriate
    role assignments used to map it to the required role name.
    -Greg
    P.S. Note that none of the EJB examples provided with WL used
    <security-role>..

  • Shared JNDI view among security role

    Hi,
    We're working on project which needs to expose EJB across different Apps( EAR) in the same OC4J. To my knowledge, in order for those Apps to be able to access the JNDI entry for the exposed EJB, there could be follwing options.
    * To enable JNDI entries to be global visiblle. so Bean can be accessible from all other App. This should not be a preferred option since we should not mandate that.
    * Whichever app need to access the EJB, it should set the JNDI env to add the credential & JNDI provider URL.of the EJB so the EJB is accessible from those Apps. This adds up the complexity of the configuration for the EJB client.
    Would like to see if there's such option to create certain kind of grouping so we can have all the Apps in the same group (e.g. with the same security role) to share the view of JNDI entries so that EJB clients don't need to maintain the credential & provider URL in order to access an EJB across Apps(EAR). Or any other option?
    thanks
    -Calvin

    Calvin,
    You can group your client applications together. Here is what you need to do:
    1. Deploy your EJB's
    2. When you deploy your client applications, under parent application choose the name of your EJB application. This way OC4J knows that the client application is a trusted source (i.e. a child of the parent) and it will not ask you for the credentials. You can then use the JNDI name of the resource that you are looking up.
    When you choose the parent application, your server.xml will change and it will get a parent attribute:
    <application name="clientapp" path="../applications/clientapp.ear" parent="EJBAppName" auto-start="true" />
    Hope this helps.

    Deepak

  • Critical Action and Role/Profile Analysis

    Hi,
    I want to know the purpose of the Batch Risk Analysis back ground job "Critical Action and Role/Profile Analysis" in RAR 5.3.
    I'm assuming that I need not run this job if I do not want the critical roles/profiles like SAP_ALL to be analysed which were defined to be critical in rule architect.
    Please let me know if there is any other purpose to run the BG job "Critical Action and Role/Profile Analysis".
    Thank you,

    Hello Partha,
      You got this right. It will analyze the defined critical actions/roles/profiles.

  • JDev EA1 Error with JAZN/Security Roles/Authentication

    I have a current JSF application created under JDev 10.1.3 Preview which runs fine, but under JDev EA1 it crashes.
    The application has a JAZN definition with a realm and user defined. The user is also tied to a security role.
    In the web.xml I have a security role defined and security constraints. I also have the security-role-mappings in the orion-application.xml for deployment which uses OID to authenticate.
    This all works fine in JDev 10.1.3 preview.
    When I run the application in JDev EA1, the login dialog does not appear and the application crashes because it can't authenticate who is using the application. I have deleted and recreated the Jazn user and security roles under EA1.
    I have noticed that JDev is now reporting the "<security-constraint>" tag in web.xml is an error now.
    Any ideas on what's wrong?
    Thanks

    We're using SSO, so we haven't written our own login handler. The orion-application.xml has the "<jazn-web-app auth-method="SSO"/>" tag in it. We let SSO handle the login. You can write your own login handler if you wanted to. I think there's several threads about doing it. We wanted to try and use SSO and not have to write the piece to do the login.
    orion-application.xml:
    <jazn provider="LDAP"
    location="ldap://my.company.com:<port number>"
    default-realm="my_realm_here">
    <jazn-web-app auth-method="SSO"/>
    </jazn>
    The way we approached it, we have a User and Visit object. The User object just holds some data:
    public class User implements Serializable
    private String userid;
    private String name;
    private String email;
    private Date loginTime;
    The faces-config.xml is like this:
    <!--========User Bean=========-->
    <managed-bean>
    <managed-bean-name>user</managed-bean-name>
    <managed-bean-class>com.mycompany.User</managed-bean-class>
    <managed-bean-scope>session</managed-bean-scope>
    <managed-property>
    <property-name>queryService</property-name>
    <value>#{queryservicebean}</value>
    </managed-property>
    </managed-bean>
    We're using Spring to inject the "queryservicebean". You may not need this section. We're having to grab data from a database table. So you can probably skip that "<managed-property>" section.
    The section I think you are really asking about is the ViewHandler. You probably need to look at extending the ViewHandler to populate your user object.
    public class AuthenticatingViewHandler extends ViewHandler{...}
    You will probably need to look at adding code in the createView and restoreView methods.
    Something like:
    public class AuthenticatingViewHandler extends ViewHandler
    private final ViewHandler _base;
    public AuthenticatingAurepViewHandler(ViewHandler base)
    _base = base;
    public UIViewRoot createView(FacesContext facesContext, String viewId)
    viewId = loadUser(facesContext,viewId);
    return _base.createView(facesContext, viewId);
    } //END createView(FacesContext facesContext, String viewId)
    public UIViewRoot restoreView(FacesContext facesContext, String viewId)
    viewId = loadUser(facesContext,viewId);
    return _base.restoreView(facesContext,viewId);
    } //END restoreView(FacesContext facesContext, String viewId)
    --Then "loadUser" would populate your User object:
    public String loadUser(FacesContext facesContext, String viewId)
    String userId = facesContext.getExternalContext().getRemoteUser();
    User user = (User) JSFUtils.getManagedBean(ViewConstants.USER);
    -- Set the userid from OID in your User object
    user.setUserid(userId);
    -- Note: You may need to do some parsing on your user id string from OID.
    -- Do more stuff here, may switch to a differnt viewId if needed, like an error page.
    return viewId;
    } // END loadUser(FacesContext facesContext, String viewId)
    } //END AuthenticatingViewHandler
    The "JSFUtils.getManagedBean" uses the valuebinding to get the User bean from the FacesContext. We also carry a boolean isUserLoaded in the User object so we're not executing the loadUser code each time a view is rendered. The Visit object just has a navigation trace and other things of interest to us, so you may not care about it.
    A lot of this is from Adam Wiener's post on Sun's JSF forum. I think there's a couple of ways to approach this, with our requirements this works out better. If anybody else has any suggestions, it would be great to hear about them.
    As always, hope it helps out with what you are doing and thanks for the chocolate.

  • Unable to assign all security roles to a user with a new custom security role

    Dear All,
    Happy New Year.!
    I have a query regarding the assignment of Security Roles to new users in CRM. Normally we assign the security roles to new users via an Admin user who has 'System Administrator' security role assigned to him/her. This works perfectly fine, and we can assign
    any desired security role to the new user.
    However, in our case, we need to delegate the user creation rights to some of the client partners. We do not want to give them access to all the Administration functions; hence we created a new Security Role, lets say 'Support User Role'. We have provided
    'Create', 'Append', 'Append To', and 'Assign' rights on 'User' entity for this new security role. With this security role, we are able to create new users now, but we are only able to assign 'Agent' security role, not any other security roles.
    For example, if user 'x' has Security Role defined as 'Support User Role'. If 'x' tries to add a new user 'y', then 'x' is only able to assign 'Agent' security role to 'y', but not any other security role. As per business requirement, 'x' should be able
    to assign some other security roles, including 'Support User Role', to new user 'y'.
    I believe that there is something missing in Security Role configuration, which is causing the above problem. We compared both 'Support User Role' and 'System Administrator' security roles, but not able to figure out which minimum rights we can provide to
    'Support User Role' so that users with this security role can only add new users (with any security role), and that they are not having access on any other Administration features as well.
    Appreciate any help that you can provide on the above issue.
    Thanks in anticipation.
