where r is an instance of Runtime class, but then
nothing happen and my DOS - Promt became hang.

Thank you very much for your answer. But unfortunately my java program still unable to execute my C code. The C code is only simply write 'this c code will be called from java program' and then waiting for user keystoke ( by getch() code). There is no hang but an error message appear. What should I do ?

Try a restart.
If that doesn't fix the problem, shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application unistaller. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

You can write a .bat script which launches the java command for you:

java <your prog name here>
Then move your .bat file icon wherever you want...

Maybe it didn't get the EXE extension. If it does not have the extension, put one on it and see if that helps.
If it has a DMG extension, it is the Mac version of the software.

Running exe/PC programs?

Is there a way to run an exe program without having to use Bootcamp or some other program like that? I have one program I want to run(it's a game) that's only about 22MB in size. I was just wondering if there's a way to run the file without having to partition my hard drive.

Other than that, due to the different architecture and file structures, a Mac can not run (Windows) .exe files: Mac is a Unix based system that e.g uses bitmaps in their file structure, Windows still uses some form of DOS requiring files to be "executable" (which is the command to initiate the action on a Windows machine). This "exe" does not compute in a Mac.

I am finding the solutions to build the project automatically but the situation is still unchanged. When building the project i have use the signcode tool to sign my .cab files therefore the system shows me the "Enter Private Key Password" dialog and ask me to enter my password into the Password field.
If all you guy have any ways for packing the project by the mechanism of the running signcode program under background mode. Below is my script.

Hi Siegwin,
To my knowledge, there are two possibilities running apps on the client side: Either user IE with ActiveX or create your own browser and deploy it with the application.
I did this using the WebKit browser which comes free with the Qute-Framework. It works very well, the only thing I need to do is create a link that starts with os:// to start an external application and hand parameters over. The browser is a minimal browser component, strong enough to run Flash and enabled to interact with the local computer. Deployment of this C++ application is a simple copy to a network device. This approach gave me piece of mind in regard to compatibility issues as well. The browser is a simple window that even don't allow for direct address entering, therefore the Apex-application looks like a normal application then and is unable to connect to any other internet resource other than the APEX applicaiton itself.
To the others moaning about this security whole: There are situations where you need something like this, fi in intranet environments where you want to enable APEX to interact with the local environment. So I think it's a valid request.

Getting Data From Running EXE

Hello,
First off, I am an amateur programmer. I have been programming for a few years now, but because I'm a meteorology major, and not a CSCI major, I haven't had too much time. Tying in the fields of meteorology and computer science, I have made a few programs about the weather.
There is a radar program, GRLevelX, which displays radar information, much like on television. With hi-tech abilities with it. One of the capabilities is placefiles, which can be added to the program. So what I am trying to do is make a placefile which shows an aerial map from Google Maps, which can be placed under the radar. When I get down to it, I have the code to grab the map and put it int he placefile format, however, the only thing I cant get is the coordinates of the visible window of the program.
Is there any way I can tap into a running EXE, get variables being used by that program, and have them returned to the Java file I have created so far? I have spoke wiht one other person about this and he said I would need to call Win32 API and get the window handler. Again, I'm very new to this, so that si kind of confusing. But I try to challenge myself with these programs, trying to learn the language a bit more. I have searched through many forums trying to look how to do this, and I can't seem to find anything. Any ideas? Thank you very much! I appreciate any help anyone can provide.

Thanks for the quick replies. After some looking at the program and the first response, it looks like Java isn't the way to go. At least I have a good basis on how to do the main stuff, in java, just have to see if I can hand that off to someone familiar with the program to write in a different language. As for the second reply, I can see what you mean, not wanting to go into any secondary program. Especially if I don't know how its written and whatnot. There are a number of other placefiles, which do go into this program and grab data such as coordinates, and return their values. I will have to see what language they use (Visual Basic, i think?). What html code will start an EXE (program) with a click on a webpage link?

The code in bold below worked. After I switched my browser from IE 11 to Firefox to get the hover on hotspots to work, the program gave me this error message. I moved the EXE file to my local file folder and tried it as shown below. Still no success. Any suggestions?

It allows executables in Firefox to be run - it is an extenstion, though, so it must be installed in Firefox before your page will work.

However, you will still have problems with getting it to work cross-browser. Honestly, browsers are not supposed to have access like that to the client side file system, which absolutely makes sense for the web.
That is why you may have to approach the solution from a different angle - perhaps create a server side cloud version of your application(s) which can be easily accessed and run by your family members. I believe you used C to develop the applications? Although I have no experience with this framework, Wt might be a solution to convert your projects to server side applications:

Is it possible to run a *.exe program in java by launching it? I mean I have an interface and there will be a button or link that will launch the *.exe program can u guys help me on what can I do? thank you very much for your help...

You could look up the various exec() methods of the Runtime class.
