Run Options In Reporting
Run Options In Reporting
I'm trying to create a custom report to automatically produce output in excel format; however, when it runs it defaults to HTML. When you click "Run with Options", the only 2 format options are HTML and PDF. Is it possible to show excel as an option or is it a limitation in the RequestCenter/Cognos implementation. I've seen this option available in other Cognos environments not related to RequestCenter. Please see attachment.
You are correct, Liz. This Cognos option was not incorporated by newScale into the RC06 or RC07 reporting implementation. It is being incorporated into the RC08 reporting.

Run Option disabled in Repository Reports
I am using a fresh install of Oracle 9i 9.2.0.1.0 on XP Pro and Designer 9i 9.0.2.7. Everything functions perfectly until I attempt to run Repository Reports. The Report Navigator responds and I can select the container and diagram for a report, however the run button and options are disabled. Regardless of what report I attempt to run I cannot get the run option to be enabled.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
KeithKeith,
Do you have Oracle Reports installed on the same machine? You need this to run the repository reports. You can check by running the Oracle Universal Installer and clicking the Installed Products button then navigate down the hierarchy. -
Report execute time nd how many records will be returned before hitting the "run" option?
Post Author: Prasad15
CA Forum: WebIntelligence Reporting
Is there any way to know how long the report executes and how many records will be returned before hitting the "run" option?
Regards
PrasadTo know if the report is going to return more than 10,000 records, you first have to run the query with a 'select count(1) from ... where ...' (with the same from and where clauses as you normal query). Since this takes about the same time as runnng your report, I wonder if you really gain anything (although formatting may take some time too).
You may simplify the select count(1) query by omitting all the lookup tables that are only needed for formatting. That way your query may run a lot faster. You can put this in your after parameter form trigger. -

Error while Activating / running Bex queries/reports
Hello
I have following ERRORs while activating / running BEx reports/queries.
1. While Activating BEx reports, I keel getting following ERRORS
Object directory entry R3TR ELEM E341OIR6G715GUMGN0MRXP3MA does not exist
Error when activating element BX7FOOKQB4588RROCBTC2YVZN
BEx transport request 'BIDK901352' is not available or not suitable
2. While running the BEx report/query in Bex Analyzer, I'm getting ERROR in entering the parameters, its NOT allowing / giving me option to select the parameters, for example for 0COSTCENTER, it is NOT displaying list costcenters to select before I can RUN that particular report.
3. How can I trouble shoot ERRORs related to BEx and Portal connectivity.
4. How would I setup the Variants for a Bex query/report ? Are these Variants for per user basis / per report basis. Can I have each variant for particular users OR all users must select their own variant each time when they RUN the report ?
Thanks, Sorry I have asked multiple questions, in jst one thread.
BIGoto SE03 -->Search for Objects in Requests/Tasks option , select the object type and execute it will give all the transports it has collected before ..
Also you can use transport connection in RSA1 and select the query and find out all the objects in query locked by what request etc ..
Thanks,

Run BI Publisher report from an application directly to a printer.
Dear All,
I have an HTML page (with JavaScripts),
I want to Run BI Publisher report from this page directly to a printer. (and send parameters).
Can anyone help me, and send me Demo URL or Demo code to do this?
Regards,
TovitTovit
you are going to have build out a servlet that the page can call. The servlet will need to implement the supported web services to schedule a report. The schedule can include the delivery options ie to a printer. So you would create a schedule that runs the report immediately via the scheduler and then to the printer.
I dont currently have any servlet demos but the services are pretty well covered in the user docs.
check them out and give it a try, if you get stuck let me know

Background Processing Option in Report
Hi Fellow Abapers,
I need to edit a report whereby there is an option to display further fields. Now if they select this option, the report NEEDS to run in the background and output to the file. This will later be retrieved byt the SAP Output Controller (Which there is already a program). It is a must.
Does anybody have any links, codes, tips? Helpful posters will be awarded.Hi You can do that programatically, no need to say execute it in background from se38. Make sure you are not using file download but use open dataset. here is the sample program. Just copy and paste this in test program and check it. hope this will be helpfull. this report reads only materials for plant and there is an option on the selection screen to print or email or you can write it to spool. ofcourse it does automatically and then you can retrieve or print from SP01 but in your case you have to write to application server.

Running the alv report in background and sending it thro email
hi,
i have to run the alv report in background and send the output through emailHi
Many a times there is a requirement to display ALV Grid (not ALV List) in the background Job. I have checked the SDN Forum for the same and it has been mentioned that ALV Grid cannot be displayed in Background, but the list output of ALV is possible. So user wont have the actual Grid interface but the List interface.
There is a workaround to display ALV Grid in Background Job. The only restriction is you cant schedule the job through SM36. You need to execute the transaction of the report program, fill in the selection screen data and hit Execute.
The job would be executed in background. User will be able to see the Job Log and Job Status after executing the program. User doesnt have to go to SM37 to view the job status/log. Once the Job Status is changed to COMPLETED, user can click on DISPLAY SPOOL to view the ALV Grid.
Limitations:
Cant schedulea background job
The session should be active until the background job is completed. If the session is closed, then user wont be able to check the output in ALV Grid. User would be able to check the output through spool or SM37
Advantages:
If the spool width is greater than 255 characters, then the entire width could be seen in the output because the output is directed to an ALV Grid and not to spool
Interface of ALV Grid is available instead of ALV List even though its a background job.
Program wont give the TIME OUT error
Steps Required:
1. Once you execute the program, the following screen would be displayed
2. Click Display Job Status to check the Status of the Background Job
3. Click on Display the Job Log to check the Log
4. Click on Display Job Status to check the Job Status
5. Click on DISPLAY SPOOL to check the spool content once the Job Status is changed to COMPLETED. Output is displayed in ALV Grid
Programs:
1. Two different programs needs to be created
ZPROGRAM_ONE: This is the 1st program, where the selection screen and all the data validations would be done. Error handling for invalid data should be done in this program.
Once the data validation is done, this program would call the 2nd program ZPROGEAM_TWO. Build the logic to display ALV Grid in this program. The logic will only display ALV in foreground and it wont be reflected in the spool.
ZPROGRAM_TWO: This program would fetch all the data and do all the processing. If you want the spool output along with ALV Grid output, then build the logic in this program to display ALV Grid.

Insufficient Memory error when running Inventory Audit Report
I have a user who has cannot run the Inventory Audit Report. He used to run this report regularly, but in the past few weeks, he gets the following two errors:
The report returns too many records for this action and may cause SAP Business One to stop responding for a long time or shut down. Do you want to continue?
And then:
SAP Business One application has run out of memory; it will be shut down automatically in order to prevent data inconsistencies.
No other user gets these error messages. If I logon to SAP using my username on his machine, I do not get the error. However, if he logs onto SAP at any machine, he gets the error. This makes me believe that there is something with him profile or authorizations. His authorizations have not changed.
Any insight into this behavior would be appreciated.
Randy Davis
Denver, COHi Randy ,
You are currently using what version of sap? (07,8.8 or 8.81).
anyway, I must agree with you that the user might be experiencing a problem.
so i have 3 suggestions .
1.) try to update him/her as Superuser and try to login again and run the Audit report.
2.) if your company is under SAP maintenance, then you will need escalate and create a support ticket via Service market place.
3.) (last option)to solve this immediately, create a new user and pass all authorization and form settings. then lock this user.
Hope this will help you.
Thanks,
Darius -
hi
I have a report to report interface for two reprots.
one is summary and other one details
when i run the summary report in portal I have(with my user-id) the option "GOTO" to go to the details report.
But the option "GOTO" is not available to the users who have the authorizations to access the two reports in portal as well as in BW.
I check by giving the same authorizations of mine to the users but still they are not able to see the option.
How to overcome this issue.
Please help me

Problem to run the Crystal report inside from SAP B1 based on SQL views.
Hello,
I have a problem to run my Crystal report inside from SAP B1 which is based on SQL views. And the SQL views are stored in a separate database in SQL server. The error which i am getting is saying the the tablename does not exist. What i need to do in order to sort this problem.
Great if somebody can help me to sort out this so that i can run my report based on SQL views stored on separate database other than SAP databases inside from SAP B1.
Edited by: rozenagrawal on Apr 19, 2011 11:51 AMTry using a SQL synonym in your company database for the views outside the company database. I don't know if SBO will let you get away with it, but its worth a shot.
If your company database is MyCompany and you have a view called MyView in Views database, assuming the view belongs to schema dbo, and you want the synonym to belong to dbo schema in your company database, run this:
Use MyCompany
go
create synonym dbo.OutsiderView for
Views.dbo.MyView
go
select * from OutsiderView
The select statement should return the contents of MyView in the Views database while you are connected to your MyCompany database.
For more info, see the Books Online for MSSQL on topic synonym.
You will need to change your CR options to include displaying synonyms along with tables, views, etc. You may also need to grant select to B1 users.

Inputs for running /SAPAPO/SDORDER_DEL report
Hello,
We want to run /SAPAPO/SDORDER_DEL report to delete unnecessary Sales orders in the APO system. Before while executing this report I would like to be clear on 2 points:
1. Three tabs with various fields came up after executing this report:
1.Delete on Database
2.Delete in SAP livecache and Database
3. Delete All DB Sales Order data
Can someone please let me know the major differences of these tabs or any advantages or disadvantages of using one over the other.
2. Second point I want to understand is that, once I delete Sales Order data is using this report there any way, I could retrieve that data back.
Your thoughts and suggestions are very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Venkat.Hi Venkat,
In APO you have information in two instances a database and a livecache.
With the first tap you can delete obsolete entries that exist in database, but they are not in livecache. Here you have additional options to delete allocation objects from ATP and delete and adjust ATP tables.
Second tab is to delete orders from livecache using different selection parameters.
Third tab is to delete all order from the database.
So first is to adjust ATP orders on database, second on livecache and third to delete all.
As i know, you can not retrieve information of this tables after running this report.
I hope this can help you.
Regards.

How to run the same report at report runtime?
i have this report that is automatically run when choosing the icon at reports runtime.
its it possible that i can run the same report without having to exit the runtime?! can i display the run button on the toolbar?
i need help on this! thanksWhat
about still running ONE report, but every supplier starting on a new page? Is that more realistic? So supplier will not be a parameter any more, but just something that creates a new page on the report?
Yes thats a much better option. Its very easy to generate such a report in SSRS. You dont need a parameter
in that case but just needs to add Supplier as a grouping field in the tablix. Then add other columns and groups if required. Select option set page break after each instance of the group for first grouping (ie based on supplier field). Then report will render
with one page per supplier. On exporting to excel also each supplier data goes to a different tab
Here's a similar requirement I did for one of my projects
http://visakhm.blogspot.in/2013/10/using-ssrs-to-export-sqlserver-data-to.html

Calling Forms 6i from Reports 6i. Is this possible. Run Product in Reports
Re: Calling Forms 6i from Reports 6i. Is this possible?
Hello,
I have need programming in Oracle 9.x and using Forms and Reports for about 1.5 years. My ERP application calls a report from a form. I DO NOT have source code for the FORM. But, I DO have source code for the Report. So, from the Report 6i, I would like to call an Oracle Form 6i. Note: Not WEB based. My question is, IS THIS POSSIBLE. I can not find a command like Run Product in Report for calling a Form Application. Can someone please help me. I am under the gun to have this ready in a couple of days. Can I call an Active X Application from Reports..if Oracle Forms DOES NOT WORK. This needs to be a Form Application because of the nature of this request.
Thank you
DennisThank you
...the ERP vendor based on a form icon button will call a report. They will pass a TAG_NUMBER from a database record (that they just inserted) to the report. This tag_number will link to other tables and will display the report. The problem is ??..there is additional information that the user needs to scan into the database BEFORE the report runs. This is part of the business work flow.
I have options.
1) Get the ERP Vendor to call a FORM based on the name I provide to them.(Not really an option since they are unwilling to make custom mod changes.)
2) Have the user key into the REPORTS PARM FORM. And I will update the tables...
3) Call an Active OCX popup FORM from Reports and then update tables. Is this possible from Reports???..I am not sure if I like to introduce ms vb into an oracle application. It just does not seem to be a correct solution/procedure.
4) Pay the ERP Vendor as a custom mod to make the changes for us. (unlikely because they do not like making custom mod changes)
5) ....any more ideas/comments please let me know..
Thank you Again

Hi All
is there any option in report server that when a report till not run in 1 minute or any specific time time then the sesion expires or report server time out.how can we manually set this option to our desired time period.
thanksHI,
I'm not sure whether you mean that, but there is a reportserver conf file in [ORACLE_HOME]/reports/conf where you can define the following parameters of the certain server that may help you:
maxIdle
The number of minutes of allowable idle time
before the engine is shut down, provided the
current number of engines is higher than
minEngine.
callbackTimeOut
The number of milliseconds of allowable waiting
time between when the server calls an engine and
the engine calls the server back.
Hope it helps,
regards,
Heike
