Run same install scripts only once

I recently found the install script mechanism quite inefficient (and I'm sure many other people have noticed it as well).
for example,if I install the texlive-most group, after every package installed, mktexlsr would run once. But actually, the only one that is necessary is the last one.
So I think if pacman could run every same install script only once, this would speed pacman up a lot (especially when you haven't upgrade for two months!)

I have contacted Corel and after several emails and one telephone call, they tell me , they cannot help but they think the problem could be with the OS.

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

(BW) Run the Start Routine Only Once

I understand that for every data package from ODS to Cube, the start routine is run. But I need to run it only once. Is there anyway to achieve this in ABAP?

I once had that same requirement, but in a datasource in R3. I'm not sure if the same solution would work in BW, though. I used a memory id to keep the variable value between packets:
DATA: ... n_globalvar TYPE n ...
then I added...
IMPORT n_globalvar FROM MEMORY ID 'ZMEMID01'.
...at the start of the routine to retrieve to the variable the value from the memory id.
At the end of the code, I exported the variable back to the same memory id...
EXPORT n_globalvar to MEMORY ID 'ZMEMID01'.

Is there any simple way to run same sql script on multiple remote sql server databases at once?

i am using sql server 2005. our company has many branches. each branch is located in different country. so when i update database in any country over the VPN connection then i need to update db in another country one by one over the vpn connection. it
is very tire some job....so i was think that there could be any easy trick to update multiple db in different country easily. so am developing a store procedure which will connect each DB in different database one after one over the vpn and read script from
sql file and execute the script in remote db over vpn. so please have look at my script and tell me how to do it. please do not advise me to use any 3rd party.

Note: when you start a job from a stored procedure, control proceeds to the next statement, there is no wait for the job to finish.

How do I run an Apple Script only when the computer is awake at the specified time and NOT upon waking after the specified time?

I've been using Steve Lambert's SelfControl to block myself from certain time-sucking internet sites for a certain period of time every day. I've automated the program launch using an AppleScript that runs based on an iCal alarm, but the problem is that if my computer has been asleep or shut off, the script will run as soon as I wake it up or start it up, and that can be very inconvenient if I'm intending to use my computer not during the hours when I intended to restrict access to such websites.
So, is there any way to schedule an AppleScript to run *only* if the computer is running at the designated time and not upon waking/starting up after the alarm has passed if the computer was asleep/off?
I started investigating launchd, as I understand this is the successor to cron/crontab in OS X Lion, but it appears that launchd has the same behavior I dislike in the iCal alarm approach--the script will run upon waking even if the time when it was supposed to run has already passed...unless there is a way to change this behavior?

The obvious/easy solution would be to add some logic to the script to see what the time is.
If you expect the script to run at, say, 1pm, but the script checks the time and sees that it's 5pm then you can assume the machine was asleep at the time and thefore you can bail out gracefully.

Hello, I'm coming across the following error when trying to install Premiere 5.5 on my MB Pro: The following install step failed run preinstall script for adobe setup contact the software manufacturer for assistance. Any idea of what may be causing this and how it may be resolved? I'm also running CS3 on the same computer if that helps.

We need to know the exact model of the Mac and which version of OSX. For all intents and purposes, you could simply not meet the system requirements.

Tiger Install Hangs @ "About 2 Minutes - Running iWeb Instaler Script"

...what now??? ..this happened last friday ..i forced it to powe down because it hung for alomst an hour @ "2 minutes left" ..today i started up the macbookpro and it asks for the 2nd install CD and starts intalling all over agin.. and now.. its hanging at the same spot.. any ideas on this? ..i was so excited to start using my new macbookpro

I have the same problem:
After an update to 10.4.8 on my MacBook Pro caused Keychain access to crash, and therefore rendered Wireless Internet, Safari, Mail, and Adress Book unusable (crashed also), I tried to re-install the original software.
Now the installer hangs since a few hours with the iWeb application Installer script, "about 2 minutes" remaining.
Any ideas how to install a working system on this computer ?

How to run the processRequest initialization only once

My home page has a table that is initially populated based on the users userId.
The user can then select a differnt user to display data for.
From the table, the user can drill down to another page. If the user uses the browser back button (need to press twice), he is returned to the search results correctly.
If instead the user clicks on the returnNavigation link, the query initialization in the processRequest is fired again.
Is there a way to only fire this query initialization when the page is first loaded ?
Similiar type of problem where I set the pagetitle to a parameter passed from the original page. If the user then drills to a 3rd page and returns using the returnNavigation link, the data is still the same but the page title (set in the processRequest section) is set to null

Well, first thing is that issue subject is kind of misleading. You cannot have control over the inherent calls to processRequest but what is required is putting up some logic to overcome your issues.
You can maintain a session flag to track your status of first time page load. With the help of this flag, you can conditionally initialize the query. Same applies to page title issue.
One more suggestion, never use browser back button.

I want to create a materialized view which will run only once in a year and specifically some minutes after 00:00 a.m. on new year's day,
so i created the following:

I have two notes:
1) how to declare the refresh to be done the first new year's day after the day it'll be created , i mean not static date (01/01/2007)
2)some years are leap and some are not , so in order to run every new year's day how should i transform the above..????
3)is there any view which displays the next run of a materialized view..???
the view DBA_MV_REFRESH_TIMES displays the last refresh of mv's...

How do I submit a job to run only once?

I have a stored procedure that submits a job. If this job fails, I don't want it to continue trying to run. Does anyone know how to ensure that it will only run once, no matter what?
I did try something similar to the following:
procedure proc_submitted_as_job(p_job_no number) is

dbms_job.broken(p_job_no, true);

However, I found out that if you change the Broken state while a job is running, then it gets reset when the job completes.
Basically, I'm using the dbms_job utility to run a long-running procedure in the background. If there's another way to obtain this same result, I'd love to hear it.

I am still haveing problems so I will try and attach my program and see if you can help a little more that. It will probably be easier for you to look at this way. When you look at the diagram sequence 0 is the one the problem is in. In that sequence you will see a case structure and that is where the finite pulse train vi is. When case 1 is selected the finite pulse train will run again and again until I leave case 1. I need to have the program run the finite pulse train once and then wait and do nothing until the case is changed. The finite pulse train will be in all cases inside the case structure I just haven't done that yet, I am waiting until it works. The pulse train is used to move a stepper motor that is why running only once is im
portant because the stepper motor is used to position something.

How to get lauchctl daemons/agents to run only once a day

How do you get a daemons/agents to run only once a day regardless of the error code of the .sh you are running?
(not I'm not looking for run once or run on reboot. I want a job to run at 3am every day and it has several bash commands in it. Regardless of the returns by any of the commands in the script, I only want this to run once - NO RESPAWN).

Ok still not working.. here is the plist
the .sh file does file processing and then uploads xml files to my server and should run once a day. Here I have it running at 11:45am. It completes and then runs again and again and again.
The plist is placed in LaunchAgents and loaded with $launchctl load com.iclassicnu.crontabtest.plist

Run only once in case structure

Hello,
I have a menu set up that is wired to a case structure. Of course the menu is some boolean buttons that are set to switch when pressed so the case will stay open as long as the button is true.
inside that case I have another menu and a case structure that operates the same. In one of these cases I have a piece of code that I only want to run once. I have tried the while loop that runs once and a for loop that only runs once, but the section of code seems to run continuosly instead of just once. It works ok if I use any of the latch functions but not the switch when pressed functions. However, I need the button to stay pressed until the user is finished with that case.
I really don't want to use an event structure as I was saving that for another piece of code that monitors inputs.
Anyone have a suggestion?

Typically, this works easiest with a shift register and and a boolean "implies" function.
In the code example (see image), the button is set to "switch until released". (Of course you probably don't need the NOT, simply place your one-time code into the FALSE case )
