Run script in other computer.

Hello,
I have already scenarios with scripts.
All the script right now locates in the xi server.
I'm looking for the way to run script in other computer then XI server.
Thank you
Elad

Hi,
What OS are your servers running ? UX, a rsh-like would be the most obvious solution (or a more secured remote feature, ask your admins about that) ... For windows, I know there is a sysinternal tool that allows you to invoke scripts remotely ...

  • Running Scripts from other paths...

    Hi,
I am trying to set up a version controlled environment for Scripts/Actions/Brushes/etc at my company with SVN. We have something similar for other software packages (Maya). The idea being that we have a standard set of scripts/tools that every user has acess to that are version controlled so that we can deploy to multiple users.
My current hang-up is that I don't want to use the paths Adobe sets up for scripts, startUp scripts, etc. I want to use another centralized location and have Adobe look there.
Is there a way to remap the paths for scritps/Startup Scripts/Actions/Brushes to another folder(s)?
    Any help would be appreciated.

On Mac, you can use symbolic links. On XP, junctions do the trick. Just replace
the folders in the Presets directory with links/junctions to your centralized
    folders.

  • Scripting Test With Library On Other Computer

I'm doing some testing on another script I wrote to do some cleanup on my library. I took the two library files (iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml) and copied them to another machine with a clean install of the same version (7.5.0.20) of iTunes. When I bring up iTunes, after a few minutes, all the songs end up with an exclamation mark in the far left column, showing that iTunes can not find that file. When I run the script, it does not find any tracks. Of course, this makes sense, but is there any way to turn that functionality off? I'd like to be able to test my script on a machine that does not have my "live" library.
    Thanks

I think you will need to have some music files on the other computer.
You can simply copy across some of your music files and add them to a library created on you test computer. Then run the script on that.
If you wanted to test the real library database you would have to have your music files there as well, but this would only work if the files were in the iTunes Music folder - otherwise you would need an identical account name, as iTunes is extemely fussy about the full path to music files. However it can cope with a different path above the iTunes Music folder for files in the iTunes Music folder.

  • In DCOMCnfg "Run application on this computer" is grayed out for my application on two Windows 7 machines, but it works fine on all other machines

We have a COM application that is installed on hundreds of machines around the country.  We have instructions included in our install doc of how to set up DCOMCnfg.  On one machine in the field and one machine in our lab (both happen to be Windows 7 machines) the checkbox "Run application on this computer" on the location tab in DCOMCnfg is grayed out and therefore we cannot access our engine remotely.
I turned off UAC before installing  (we found that the install works much better than way)  and it is actually still off.  I do not get any DCOM errors in the Windows Event logs when I try to access via DCOM, I just get the standard -2147023174 Server Error.  I have added CallFailureLoggingLevel to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\OLE and set it to 1 to enable logging, but still no errors in the event logs.
I pulled a DCOMTest utility off of the Microsoft site.  Initially it failed, but there were entries in the event logs indicating that it did not have the permissions it needed.  I opened up those permissions and now that test utility works fine.  So, DCOM is functioning between the two computers.
This application is used with DCOM by hundreds of people, so I know the application should be working properly.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled to verify that everything is registered properly.  I have tried turning off the firewall and the anti-virus.  I am logged in as an administrator
I am at a loss.  Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi,
This issue can occur if the current user profile does not have enough permission or related system file is corrupted. Please try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.
    1. Assure the current user account has administrator permission. If not, please add it to Administrators Group and then test the issue again.
    2. Restart the machine in Safe Mode and logon to the machine with the account: administrator. Then, please check whether the option is grayed out.
    3. If the option is still grayed out, please try this step.
    a. Open C:\Windows\System32 folder and change the ownership of the ComUID.dll file from "trusted installer" to administrators group.
    b. Rename that file as ComUID.dll.org
    c. Copy the attached ComUID.dl_ file from the Windows 7 installation disk to C:\Windows\System32 folder and rename it to ComUID.dll
    Thanks,
    Novak

    "You can't fix stupid!"

I'm having the exact same issue.  I'm using AutoIT for my script to move the computer account.  I've tried using ADO, LDAP, and LDAP/ADSystemInfo object.  They all fail with access denied.  In fact the ADO version of my script fails just
trying to create the "ADODB.Connection" object which I know for a fact doesn't require elevation or administrator access.  However, all three versions of the script work correctly when run manually outside the TS.  They also work correctly on XP
machines during OSD.  Only when deploying a Win7 machine do they fail during the TS.  I've tried adding the runas user to the local administrators group beforehand but no dice.  Did you have to restart the computer after doing the net localgroup
change?  There has to be some other security config in Win7 that is set somewhere doing this.  I just can't figure out what.  I've even started looking at DCOM/COM permissions to see if something isn't right there.
I don't see why but maybe the script needs to be run locally?  Any other ideas?

  • Using domain templates (where's the run scripts step?)

    Hello,
    I'm using 9.2.1 for ALSB.
I have manually created an ALSBdomain. I want to create a similar domain on a different server, every setting is the same except the username for the datasource.
I used config_builder.sh to create a jar template from the first ALSB domain. I then copied the jar to the other server and used it with the domain creation wizard. (config.sh) Everything behaved exactly the way I expected. All the settings were the same, and I only had to change the username for the datasource.
However, there is one problem, the runscripts phase is missing. I even went and found the scripts "reporting_runtime_drop.sql" and "reporting_runtime.sql" and added them during template creation. Interestingly enough they did not show up in any run scripts phase.
Also, I took a look at the jar contents and the sql files I added in the add sql phase were not contained in the jar.
Am I looking at this the wrong way? Is there any way to associate the sql I want to run in a template after the datasources are configured? or is this a limitation of templates, and I must manually log into the database and set things up?

Q005, I am not certain that I fully understand your question.  However, here is the "Motherboard Specifications" page for the computer.  At the bottom of the page is a Motherboard layout.  It shows the connectors at the rear of the case.  You will use # 4-LAN to connect your computer by wire to the router.  I have had several computers connected in this way.

  • ICal Run Script

I'm trying to run a script via iCal using an alarm and it doesn't seem to work if the computer has been sleeping for a certain amount of time.
I have an alarm set at 4:15am - 5:15am. If I set the alarm to "run script" and choose the script, it will return something like the script didn't finish. If change the script up as an application and set the iCal alarm to open file it returns an error "No user interaction allowed."
Here's the real kicker. If I set the alarm to run within a few minutes or so, it works just fine using either run script or open file, but if the computer has been asleep for a certain amount of time, it flakes out. I tried using the energy saver seting to wake the computer up a minute before the script runs, but that didn't make a difference. I also thought it might be because there was the screen saver was password protected, but I turned that off and that didn't work either.
Not that this really matters, but the only thing the script is doing is kicking off a FileMaker script that runs an import. So it is very simple and I set a timeout on it just to be sure that wasn't an issue either. The Filemaker script only takes about 2 minutes to complete. Here's the code...
    delay 10
    tell application "FileMaker Pro Advanced"
    activate
    with timeout of 3600 seconds
    open "HardDrive:Users:username:Documents:FileMakerFile.fp7"
    do script "ImportScript"
    end timeout
    end tell
Does anyone have any ideas on this one? I'm running this on a Quicksilver G4 with OS 10.4.6. iCal is v2.0.3 and applescript is v1.10.6.

Active X is chiefly a Windows > Internet Explorer browser based function and there is no Internet Explorer for OS X.
The only way you can run this Active X script is install Windows into Apple's BootCamp dual boot partition solution or by running Windows in a virtual machine program in OS X itself.

  • Time Machine Service - Run scripts after backup

I am running Mavericks Server (10.9.5), server version 3.2.2
The server is used as a backup destination for a lot of Macs, and I am trying to create a complementary service that keeps track of all of the incoming backups and logs all backup events.
Is there any way to have a script execute whenever the Time Machine service completes a backup, or for that matter, and way to tell when a backup is running or has completed?
The options I have thought of so far are:
    1. Script that monitors the logs to look for appropriate events
    2. Run script on timer that scans the backup folder and looks for new backups
Neither of these seems ideal to mean, so I was hoping someone might have a better idea.
    Thoughts?

In order to back up the configuration and state of some services the server needs them to termporarily be turned off.  This includes the backing up of Time Machine.
So in order to back up the Time Machine configuration and details about what computers it is backing up where, the server would need to turn off the Time Machine backup service.  But if it's turned off, it can't use it to back things up.
Similarly, imagine you needed to restore the backup.  To view the backups you would need the Time Machine backup service to be working.  But you can't overwrite the configuration and status information of a service which is turned on, because that would confuse the process doing the serving.  But if the process is turned off, you can't use it to restore the backup.
So do what Linc said: use the System Preferences panel to back the computer up, and don't back it up to the same device you're backing up its Time Machine clients to.

  • Running script

Well here is another problem I need help with. When I am on the webpage www.geocaching.com, and click on a
geocache link, my BB will request, load, running script, loading, requesting, running script all in a endless cycle.
The page will never load, just cycles as described. What do I need to change on my BB Tour?
You all have been very helpfull with my questions. Once again, thanks in advance for your help.

Do you have an example of a geocache link?
Okay, I tried the Hide & Seek A Cache link, and with JavaScript enabled, I ran in the continous loop problem you were experiencing. I turned off JavaScript and was able to access the Hide & Seek A Cache page.
Interestingly enough, though I have "Prompt to enable JavaScript" enabled, I never did receive a request to enable JavaScript. I checked the source for the Hide & Seek A Cache page with Firefox on my desktop computer and it definitely has references to JavaScript. So JavaScript handling by the BB Browser is sketchy at best. I wish there was a way to set JavaScrip on a per page or per website basis.
