Run Time of update task function module

Hi
Any body please tell me how to find out the execution time for a update task function module with in a user exit.
thanks in advance
saravanan

Vimal,
if the INSERT tries to insert an existing key, check for sy-subrc = 4 in the function module, raise an error (duplicate key) and the iupdate process is aborted - you will get express message.
It might be better to
first lock the table
then check the existence of key
then call update function (update process will unlock).

Clémens

  • Usage of update Task Function Modules

    During an application development using WDA I have stumbeled across this unique problem.
    As recommended by SAP I am trying to use update function module to update my SAP Database. But calling the function in WDA does not update the database.
    <b>On the other hand when I call the same function module without the key words in UPDATE task, it updates the database.</b>
    <i>So my question is
    Can I use Update task function modules in WDA?</i>
    If answer is Yes, then I would like to know How?
    If answer is No,  then what is the best practice for updating the SAP database in WDA applications.

    Try Add a commit work after the call.
    Cheers
    Phil

  • Avg. DB Request Time in Update Task

    Hi
    In Service level report, Avg. DB Request Time in Update Task  shows more than 100000 ms and it is very high. I just want to know if we want to reduce then where shd i look ? We have sufficient Update ( v1, V2 ) process in system. We dont see any queue in SM13 tcode.
    I checked ST03 -> work load analysis -> database  --> update V1/V2.
    Can you tell me how do i reduce the db time for update ?
    regards,
    Rajesh Kokane

    Hi Rajesh,
    I understand that your average DB time is exhibiting more than ususal.
    As per standards you can check as thumb rule like avg.DBtime should not be more that 40 % of the avg.Response time.
    If any excess values shows in ST03N ,then you have to find out why DBtime for executing the request is taking time.
    As you mentioned, for your case avg.DBtime for update task shows high value for this case you need to corner the problem so that you can look at what causes the DBtime high.
    I have suggestion for how to look at the problem in DB perspective,
    1.Check all the transactions data in ST03N and list down the tcodes which crosses the 40% of the avg.DB time of the avg.response time of the respective transactions.
    2.Collect all the users for the most worst transations and see what is the task that is performing on the transaction
    3.If possible make an appointment with the user and activate the trace in ST05 to look at the DBtime details and see if any strange happening at DB.Make a note on the Tables involved in your SQL trace and their details

  • How to obtain the running time of a task?

    How to obtain the running time of a task? I want to write a program about task progress.
    My email: [email protected]
    Thanks!

    First, Thanks for your code.
    But, I want obtain running time before running it.
    Example:
    class a extends JFrame{
    a() {
    initComponent() ;
    new progressBar(this); // my fancy. (may be other type variant.)
    void initComponent() {
    class progressBar {
    JProgressBar proBar = null ;
    Timer taskTime = null ;
    Double longTime = null ;
    progressBar(JFrame frame) { //JFrame or other.
    longTime = // ??????? You know ?????
    void monitor() {
    taskTime = new Timer(1000, new ActionListener() {
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent event) {
    //repaint the proBar code.
    taskTime.start();
    }

  • Maximum allowed run time for a task sequence

    I found if i left the maximum allowed run time for a task sequence with a defualt value of "0" in configuration manager 2012 r2 cu2,the required task sequence would never run without a maintenance window larger than
    12H.
    At client side,the servicewindowmanager.log always said this required task sequence had a maximum runtime of 43200 seconds(12h).
    servicewindowmanager.log:
    OnIsServiceWindowAvailable called with: Runtime:43200, Type:5
    Program cannot Run! Setting *canProgramRun to FALSE
    There does not exist a Service Window of this Type, for this duration. The Program will not run.
    If i set maximum allowed run time to 120 minutes,task sequence would run under a 3h mainenance window.
    So if you leave the maximum allowed run time for a task sequence with a value of "0" then client agent will evaluate it as 43200(12h) for a required deployment,is it true? have i missed something?

    Hi,
    That is correct it will default to the same value as a program with a "Unknown" maximum runtime value, Unknown is also evaluated to 0 = 12h so that is correct behaviour.

  • Wht is UPDATE TASK functionality in CALL FUNCTION??

    Hi Experts,
    Pls. clarify one of my simple doubt that, Wht is the functionality of UPDATE TASK, in following sttement?
    <i><b>call function 'Z_FM_1' in update task</b></i>
    I found SAP help as follow, but not understood??
    <i>Flags the function module func for execution in the update task. It is not executed at once, but the data passed with EXPORTING or TABLES is placed in a database table and a subsequent COMMIT WORK then causes the function module to be executed by the update task. Update function modules must be flagged as such in the Function Builder
    The return value is not set.</i>
    thanq

    Hi,
    It sounds like the FM was not called but it was (rollback process).
    And what is the difference between an update attribute assigning FM and this?
    You control the FM update process by setting the update module attribute.
    - Update with immediate start
    Set this option for high priority ("V1") functions that run in a shared (SAP LUW). These functions can be restarted by the update task in case of errors.
    - Update w. imm. start, no restart
    Set this option for high priority ("V1") functions that run in a shared (SAP LUW). These functions may not be restarted by the update task.
    - Update with delayed start
    Set this option for low priority ("V2") functions that run in their own update transactions. These functions can be restarted by the update task in case of errors.

  • LabWindows/CVI 2009 Run-Time Engine update

    I wanted to let everyone know that NI has released an udpated CVI 2009 Run-Time Engine. Information on what bug(s) this update fixes can be found here. If you are currently not using the CVI 2009 Run-Time Engine, you do not need to install this update.
    This is an updated installation of the CVI Run-Time Engine, not a patch. If you download and install this update it will upgrade whichever version of the CVI Run-Time Engine you currently have to version 9.1.0.428 (CVI 2009 released with version 9.1.0.427). One way to find out which version of the CVI Run-Time Engine you have installed is to view the version number of c:\windows\system32\cvirte.dll. If you install version 9.1.0.428, any installer distributions that you create from any version of the CVI ADE will include version 9.1.0.428.
    If you have not yet installed LabWindows/CVI 2009, it's recommended that you install this update, either before or after you install CVI 2009.
    Luis

    To be clear, the original problem that you reported ("Attempt to free pointer to memory not allocated by malloc() or calloc()") might very have been the problem that this patch fixed, which was in fact new to 2009. But that problem only happens if there were actual plots in the graph.
    However, after looking at the "dynamic memory is corrupt" isse some more, it turns out that it is actually expected behavior, believe it or not. This is a limitation of easytab controls, caused by how they use callback chaining in their implementation. Whenever a panel or a control has its callback chained, you cannot change the callback, or make a copy of it after the chaining takes place. This is described in the EasyTab_ConvertFromCanvas function help ("...For the same reasons, do not call DuplicatePanel or DuplicateCtrl on any of these panels or controls after the Easy Tab control has been created.").
    As you probably have read elsewhere, easytab controls are quite obsolete. They were a stopgap "solution" to the problem of there not being a native tab control in the CVI user interface library. Native tab controls were finally added in CVI 8.0, and so we recommend that, if possible, users update their code to use these instead.

  • ABAP program running time-BW update Rules

    Hi All,
    I have an ABAP program that is in one of the update rules from source ODS to destination ODS. Source ODS has 20million records. When we are loading the records to destination ODS , Is there any way I can find howmuch time will take to process 1 record and also when it is running how do I know howmany records it has processed or howmany yet to process ? I have tried with SM50 but not able to find much useful information?
    Please help me and if you have any documents please send it to [email protected]
    Regards
    Vennela

    Hi Vennela,
    just choose one request and click on monitor -> details. Click on processing -> Data Package 1 -> Update Rules. If you put the cursor on the first node, you'll see a date and time field on the screen (below). If you click on the last node you'll see how long it took to process the records.
    Another possibility would be to run it in simulation mode and check the response time. To do so, you'll have to click on 'Response Time' in the SAP GUI field below at the right side of your screen (normally it shows the system name and mandant).
    Hope that helps!
    Regards
    Nicola

  • Pod updation using function module

    HI All,
        Can any one say me how can we update the POD of a delivery By using the FM  LE_POD_TVPOD_UPDATE. Please provide me what are all fields need to be filled so that we can update the LIKP and the TVpod table's.
    Thanks and regards,
    Naresh

    Hi,
    If your are not sure which values to be passed.
    Try to have a SELECT on this table and put into an Internal table then pass this respective table fields  values to the FM parameters.
    Or in SE37 run this FM first by considerieng one entry from the Table T706F and cehck the results. Then you will come to know wat values to be passed. then do the same in the program by calling this FM.
    If you can cehck this Fm, all the parameters are referring to the T706F table only.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Chandralekha.
