Running a Report in OBIEE 10.1.3.4 using Web Services

Hi ,
I had a requirement , where I wanted to schedule a run of all reports ,for a particular user using Webservices.
I am trying to use JDeveloper 11 ,and trying to call the webservices method for logging into the OBIEE server.
But I am stuck , with the following error ' web.analytics.siebel.com.soap.v5.Logon not found' .
Can anyone please suggest some methods to resolve this issue?
Thank you.

Logon is a Web service method, no ?
You must have your reverse web service class in the following package:
web.analytics.siebel.com.soap.v5
Check the result after an import in Eclipse:

    Hello,
    You can use rwrun. Since 9.0.2 , it is no more possible to DISPLAY the output on the screen , but you can generate a file (HTML , PDF , RTF , ..) and then open the file generated.
    EX: rwrun report=c:\temp\myrep.rdf destype=file desname=c:\temp\myrep.pdf desformat=pdf userid=scott/tiger@mydb P_1=param1_value ...

    I would start with the BI forums http://forums.oracle.com/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=145
    If no answer in a reasonable time, I would post an update in the question indicating that I would cross-post in the http://forums.oracle.com/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=44 (.Net related) or the http://forums.oracle.com/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=10 (Technology > Web Services) forums.

  • Using Web Service as Data source (Pluggable Data Source) in Oracle Reports

    Anyone using Webservice as a pluggable data source in oracle 10g reports.(Report builder version:10.1.2.0.2)? We need to be able to use web service as one of the data source to create reports.Tried the following and ran into issues:
    Imported the wspds.jar fle from oracle plugin exchage. When tried using it received the following error in oracle reports trace file.
    04/26 22:27:22 java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: oracle.xml.parser.schema.XSDBuilder.build([Loracle/xml/parser/v2/XMLDocument;Ljava/net/URL;)Ljava/lang/Object;
    By troubleshooting issue found out that xmlparserv2.jar in 10g is newer than xmlparserv2.jar in 9i. wspds.jar is using xmlparserv2.jar in 9i as it was developed and tested for 9i only. Believe there is no newer wspds.jar file developed specifically for 10g?
    Is there a better/standard solution to use webservice as data source in oracle 10g reports? Does later version of oracle reports supports webservice as a data source without any additional plugins? Any suggestion would be helpful.

    Please provide support for the above request.
    It appears that Oracle 10g reports doesn't support Web Service as pluggable data source. Is this option is available in Oracle 11g Reports or Oracle Discoverer Or OBIEE?

  • Report that uses web services as data source, prompts for database logon

    I have a crystal report that uses web services as a data source. When I deploy the report to Infoview it prompts me for a database username and password. Since I am not using a database it should not prompt me for these. I tried various options in the CMC->database settings for this report but it still prompts me for the database logon info or tells me that the database logon information is incorrect.
    The report work fine in the Crystal Reports Designer.
    Does anyone know how I can prevent this report from prompting me for the database logon info ?
    Thanks,

    What options have you tried in the CMC?
    Have you tried running the report in Crystal Reports installed directly on the Enterprise machine?

  • Encapsulation Error in Crystal Reports using Web Service Connection

    Hi Experts,
    I'd like to request help in investigating an issue we are currently having in Crystal Reports.  Basically, the solution design is:
    -Web Service is Used as connection
    -Dynamic Hyperlink value is used to access another Crystal Report
    Issue: Dynamic Hyperlink value is based on a summary.  We are getting Encapsulation Error message whenever we try to click a link having 30k value.
    Does anyone here can give us some tip on how to investigate the issue?  For such cases, which component (datasource, CR, etc.) of the solution normally causes the issue?  Are there any limitation in using Web Service for Crystal Reports?
    We'd greately appreciate any help here.
    Kind Regards and Many Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
    There could be many reasons for this rather 'generic' error. Is the Business Objects Enterprise clustered?
    Also, could you try saving both the Main and the target reports to the Enterprise with the 'No printer' option checked.
    (File > Page Setup> No Printer).
    Also, what happens when the target report is viewed on its own?
    Let me know how it goes!

  • How can I use web service call for edit a report with SSRS in Java Struts2 web application

    Hello im new in SSRS technologie and I would like make web service call at my SSRS server. Is sombody can help me ?
    - What API should I import in my project ? I use Maven can I found this API on Maven repository ?
    - I would like have an sample of code which initialize the ReportingService, do the call and process result.
    We use the SQL Server ReportingService 2008 R2 and currently we made HTTP call like this : http://<ssr_server>/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2fSSRS_OMB%2fMyReport&rs:Command=Render&MyParam=<value>
    Regards

    Hi ombinte,
    SQL Server Reporting Services provides access to the full functionality of the report server through the Report Server Web service. Because the Report Server Web service is an XML Web service which uses Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) over Hypertext Transfer
    Protocol (HTTP), any SOAP-aware application or development tool can communicate with the SSRS web service.
    There are three primary ways to develop Reporting Services applications based on the Web service, please see:
    Develop applications using Microsoft Visual Studio and the Microsoft .NET Framework SDK.
    Develop applications using the rs utility (RS.exe), the Reporting Services script environment.
    Develop applications using any SOAP-enabled set of development tools.
    For more information about Report Server Web Service, you can refer to the following document:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms152787.aspx
    Hope this helps.

  • How to provide the data directly for the report using web service

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to execute a report from the webservice API (using BIP version 10.1.3.4) and want to provide the report with a pre-fetched data set. According to the Dev-Guide, I should use element /ReportRequest/reportData for this, but I can't find a proper example illustrating this use case. The problem is that I don't know how to enter my data set into the element. My data set is xml (text) while the data type of the reportData element is base64binary.
    I've tried something like the following, but without any success:
    ...<reportData>
           <ns1:rowset>
               <ns1:row>
                   <ns1:emp>
                      <ns1:name>
                   </ns1:emp>
               </ns1:row>
           </ns1:rowset>
       </reportData>
    ...Any help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hello,
    Thanks for your answer, the situation is a little different from what you describe.
    We make a call to BI Publisher via a Web Service (PublicReportService) via the ReportRequest operation.
    The report we call contains a query to a database.
    When we do not include XML in the reportData field then the report data is obtained from the Database and the report result is returned via the Web Service.
    !http://s3.amazonaws.com/twitpic/photos/full/2863197.jpg?AWSAccessKeyId=0ZRYP5X5F6FSMBCCSE82&Expires=1235722431&Signature=oboPzLWqQDwB2AGCDCAj3ujHRi4%3D!
    When, however, we include XML data in the reportData field, then we see that ONLY the XML data in the reportData field is used, and NOT data from the Database.

    Is there a possibility to combine the two?

  • Using Web Service a Data Source for my Report

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to use a Web service as a PDS for my Oracle9ias reports.
    I have a few questions on this.
    1) Can the webservice Return a Complex data type e.g java.util.Vector? If Yes, How does the report extract data frm the Vecor?
    2) If the first option isn't feasible, Can I go for a array of objects as return values provided those objects are serializable?Again how would the report extract data from array of objects?
    3) OR is it advisable to go for Document style web service that returns me an XML document?

  • Web service testing - report using web service

    Hallo everybody,
    I tried to setup a report with a web service.
    I tested my web service under shared components and the result shows the following error:
    <env:Fault>
    <faultcode>env:Client</faultcode>
    <faultstring>Caught exception while handling request: XML reader error: unexpected character content: " xmlns:ns1="http://www.oracle.com/webservices/internal/literal""</faultstring>

    My web service return an ArrayList<String>. Is an ArrayList<String> not supported or contains my result a wrong character like an "@"?
    thank you in advance

    After a while I found out, that the SOAP message format "Document/Wrapped" was the problem.
    I setup RPC/Literal in my jDeveloper and then it worked.

  • Error while running a report in OBIEE answers

    Hi,
    I imported the ASO cube Account hierarchy is in the physical layer but not in BMM. So I change the dimension type to "other" from "measure dimension", the account dimension showed in the logical layer. But when I tried to run the reprot with one measure column I am getting the below error.
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
    State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError: 96002] Essbase Error: Unknown Member Measures.Total Annual Salary used in query (HY000)

    Please advise.
    Thanks...Harry

    Check this Doc ID 1461001.1
    Solution
    To ensure that no member names are specified in the MDX:
    1. Select one of the hierarchical columns in the report
    2. Right click on it.
    3. Collapse all items in view. This should remove the references to the members in the MDX.
    4. Save the report.

  • OBIEE 11g Can it read from Web Services

    Hi All,
    Can Webservices be one of the datasources to OBIEE?
    If yes, Can you please point me to a documentation on how it can be done.
    Thank you for your time and help.

    I think Webservices understand the xml format, so I would suggest to look for the workaround using XML.
    You can import xml using xml odbc drivers.

  • How to run a report from WCF

    hi,
    I am trying to run a report from a WCF service application, and then render it in PDF Format to a caller WPF application. But I cant get it! In more detail, this is what my app should do
    1. from WPF, call a web service procedure, pass a report name, report path and parameters. Report is store at the same server where Web Service is installed
    2. WCF procedure loads report, set parameters, retrieve data from DB and renders it as an array of bytes
    3. WPF gets the array, save it into a PDF file, then open it.
    this is the code of the WCF procedure.
        Function DownloadCRReport(codEnte As String, connString As String, reportDir As String, reportName As String, Parameters As Dictionary(Of String, Object)) As Byte() Implements IGesiService.DownloadCRReport
            Try
                Dim bytes As Byte()
                Dim infile As BinaryReader
                Dim fs As FileStream
                Dim rep As New ReportDocument
                Dim RepAddress As String
                logPath = reportDir & "log\"
                sb = New StringBuilder()
                timestamp = Now.Year.ToString & Now.Month.ToString & Now.Day.ToString & Now.Hour.ToString & Now.Minute.ToString & Now.Second.ToString
                logFileName = timestamp & "_" & reportName & ".txt"
                logFile = New StreamWriter(logPath & logFileName, FileMode.CreateNew)
                logFile.WriteLine("----

                    Throw New Exception("file RPT non found in: " & reportDir)
                End If
                RepAddress = reportDir & reportName & ".rpt"
                logFile.WriteLine("rep address: " & RepAddress)

                    rep.DataSourceConnections.Item(0).SetLogon("usr", "pwd")
                    logFile.WriteLine("data source connection")
                End If
                For Each i In Parameters
                    rep.SetParameterValue(i.Key, i.Value)
                    logFile.WriteLine("param: " & i.Key & " - " & i.Value)
                Next
                Try
                    fs = rep.ExportToStream(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat)
                    logFile.WriteLine("export to stream")
                    infile = New BinaryReader(fs)
                    logFile.WriteLine("created binaryreader")
                    bytes = infile.ReadBytes(CInt(fs.Length))
                    logFile.WriteLine("render pdf. fine")
                    logFile.Close()
                    Return bytes
                Catch ex As Exception
                    logFile.WriteLine("vbCrLf & ex.Message & vbCrLf & ex.InnerException.Message)
                    logFile.Close()
                    Return Nothing
                End Try
            Catch ex As Exception
                logFile.WriteLine("vbCrLf & ex.Message & "-" & vbCrLf & ex.InnerException.Message)
                logFile.Close()
                Return Nothing
            End Try
        End Function
    I detected that error occurs on rep.ExportToStream(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat). I should point out that the same procedure works under WPF application. In the WCF server I installed CR Runtime engine for .NET framework (13.0.9.1312) and CR version for Microsoft Visual Studio (same version). Moreover, all DB operations are stored into the report, so I should not pass any dataset, just parameters.
    Anyway, just to begin, I tried to call a simple report with just two string parameters and no queries, but I alwais get error ("An exception of type 'System.NullReferenceException' occurred in MyApp... Object reference not set to an instance of an object)!
    How can I make it work? thanks for help

    hi Ludek,
    Im trying to change DB connection info at runtime for all of the report tables. this is the code I used in my Web Service
              Function DownloadCRReport(...)
    If rep.DataSourceConnections.Count > 0 Then
       Dim conn As New ConnectionInfo
       Dim tabLogon As TableLogOnInfo
       conn.ServerName = "10.10.15.90" 'IP address of DB server
       conn.DatabaseName = "MyDB"   'Database name as set in TNSNAMES.ORA
       conn.UserID = "newuser"
       conn.Password = "newpwd"
       For Each t As Table In rep.Database.Tables
          tabLogon = t.LogOnInfo
          tabLogon.ConnectionInfo = conn
          t.ApplyLogOnInfo(tabLogon)
          logFile.WriteLine("changed logon tab. " & t.Name)
       Next
       rep.Refresh()
       logFile.WriteLine("changed data source connection")
    End If
    'set parameters
    If Not IsNothing(Parameters) Then
       For Each i In Parameters
          rep.SetParameterValue(i.Key, i.Value)
          logFile.WriteLine("set parameter" & i.Key & " - " & i.Value)
       Next
    End If
    fs = rep.ExportToStream(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat)
              End Function
    that comes to an error on rep.ExportToStream: "Unable to access database".
    Running web service in debug mode, I noticed that, after t.ApplyLogonInfo(tabLogon), the new ConnectionInfo has "password" property empty. Maybe this could cause the error, or is there some mistake in the new connectioninfo?
