Running app in FB makes NetStream IO operations block other (stops multitasking)

A Flex video application that loads (and downloads
progressively) an FLV file behaves differently when executed from
within FB and when executed "normally" in its deployed environment.
Basically when executing a NetStream operation that "loads" a
flv file, within FB it appears to "Block" all other execution until
completed, however when deployed and invoked externally ( e.g. not
within FB) the operation doesn't block and allows other
processes/tasks to execute concurrently.
This makes debugging and testing within the FB a problem when
full concurrency is expected and is integral part of the
application.
Does anyone knows if this is normal behavior ?

1. Is there any way to "toggle off" background Apps? I have no need to keep newspapers, books, games, etc running in the back only to have to "Double tap the home button, hold the icon till it wiggles, tap the negative sign, close the bottom panel" - useless wate of time.
2. If no, any shorter way to close an app other than the method described above?
How about just flick up on the Home screen to get to the running apps bar (what do you call that bar anyway?) instead of having to click the home button twice?
(You wouldn't believe how much noise that stupid button makes when it clicks when your partner is sleeping and you are reading in bed!)
3. At the very least can't Apple just make the background Apps already have the little negative sign on them when they come up (like the close program "x" PC programs now have)? It would at least save the "hold till it wiggles step".

And unnecessary. Maybe once/week you would want to enter the multitasking tray just in case you have a thousand or so apps in the background.

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...

1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

Running Apps not showing up in app-switcher with Lion

One peculiar issue I am running in to is that, as the iMac is running for awhile, some of the running apps suddenly no longer appear in the app switcher window (command-tab). they are clearly running, but cannot be switched to. this is very frustrating. Even quitting these apps and re-launching them will not make them re-appear in the switcher.
The only thing that cures this issue (temporarily) is to log out / log back in or reboot the iMac.
Anyone else run in to this, is there a solution to this problem?

Temporary fix that I found online, WITHOUT restarting is to type
killall -KILL Dock
in the Terminal

Force run apps don't deploy on some machines causing zen icons toflash at intervals

I'm having a problem lately, with new apps that I'm creating (for
example Acrobat Reader 9.4) not deploying on some machines. I have them
set to force run, user associated. They appear in application explorer,
and if I manually launch them, they will install just fine. I have
conditions for availability based on version, so if the app has been
installed, it will no longer show in application explorer.
I had this happen a few months ago, and I thought it was one particular
app I had just sent out, so I just manually ran it on the affected
workstations, but now I'm seeing the same workstations having the issue.
The workstations are running the last released ZDM 7 agent, and the
Servers are Netware 6.5 SP8 patched up to the last released Zen 7
version. (I removed the existing agent and reinstalled the latest agent
HP4, msi dated 5/14/2010)
I've deleted nalcache, and that had no effect. Naldiag shows the apps
are there and passed the tests, but I think that there is actually a
problem with another app that had been previously created that is
preventing these from working.
I'm just looking for some areas to check to figure this out. I'm not
seeing any errors, it just doesn't launch the force run apps. The vast
majority of the machines run them absolutely fine.

I was waiting to post this to check one more thing, and I had to reboot
the machine. The user had gone home for the day so I logged in as a
different user and now the apps are deploying, so this appears to be
something perhaps in the registry for that user? I was afraid this
would happen.. I'll have to find another broken machine to do further
testing on.
Any ideas how to track this down? The apps that were "stuck" are new
applications, they aren't modified old applications where I would be
worried about the guid being changed or anything weird.
I'm guessing the moment I create another force run app to update
something that I am going to see the exact same problem recur.

There's nothing of interest in the logs that I can find. As for taking
things away, I thought about that as well, however when I set up a brand
new machine and install zen, all of the applications force run just fine
and install... Very odd. What makes the workstations stop blinking is
for me to remove the force run on the new apps, or manually run them.
I guess I could take away force run on all the other stuff that's
already installed, that would be rather strange for one of those to be
the culprit.

I have an application created in JDeveloper using ADF ADF 11115-Security. successfully deployed in WLS 10.3.5. The JDBC configuration and myreal ConnectionGoldDS was created called ERPDaniela provider, and its configuration by using sql statements for what algortinmo indicated the SHA-1 and style PLAINTEXT password, and log all sql statements for users, groups and group members. With the iO7 and the apps running in background. Can you turn thescreen shot of the running app off? If you have read an email or text or been on a site they are all still open and sitting there for display unless you go in and close app after use?

Be aware that the major difficulty in using your own encryption routines is key management.
- If you store the key in the database, the DBA can obviously just call the appropriate decrypt routine, pass in the key, and see the data
- If you store the key outside the database but expose it somehow in a way the database can see, you've got the same problem.
- If you store the key outside the database in a way the database cannot access, then only the applications that know how to access the database and know how to access the key can decrypt the data. That can be annoying if you try to use a reporting package or other third party software that needs to see decrypted data and doesn't know how to decrypt the data. You'd also have to make sure that the DBA doesn't have access to whatever machine you're storing the key on for other reasons (i.e. because the DBA is the backup to the admin)
- If you don't store the key at all, you can force users to pass it in when they want to decrypt data. That obviously runs the risk that someone forgets the password because not enough people know it or that so many people know it that its no longer a secret.
- Plus, you have to deal with things like figuring out how you revoke/ change a key, how you synchronize backups of the database with backups of the key without DBA intervention, etc.
These tend to be much harder problems than figuring out how to encrypt the data on the way in.

I just got a new mac mini with OS X Server 10.8.2. I want to replace the original hard drive with an SSD, but I have problems downloading installation files from app store to make a bootable USB stick.
When i click the Purchases button it tells me that OS X Server is already installed, and I'm not able to download the files.
I have tried all the diffrent forms of Option key clicks but nothing works.
Anyone out there who have a solution?
Is it possible to get the installation media in some other way?
By the way. Is it possible to install the non server version on a computer thats bought with the server version pre installed.
I thought so. But I read something about firmware problems on a forum page?

Publishing Flash via AIR as ready to run app?

I’ve got a Flash/AS3 project that needs to function online, standalone on CD, and have the ability to copy itself from the CD to the user’s hard drive and operate standalone from there. Since the filesystem class has been deliberately nerfed in Flash my present solution is to launch a Director app on the CD with two choices, 1. Play Flash app, 2. Copy Flash app to hard drive. Option 1 launches the Flash projector, option 2 uses Director’s filesystem capabilities to copy. Unfortunately, I can’t use Director as a wrapper for the Flash app because D11.5 does not support AS3 components, the best I can do is call up the Flash projector and have the Director projector quit.
Publishing the Flash project as an AIR application would un-nerf the filesystem class but the AIR app presents itself as an Installer, not a ready to run application. My client’s users work in an IT environment where this is a huge no-no. Even if the AIR installer works with their security (unlikely) these users have had it drilled into their heads, never, ever install anything onto your computers. Is there any way to publish an AIR app so that it’s a ready to run app (like a Flash or Director projector) or is the installer the only way to go?

Lol, easier said than done. We’re working with the HR department of a large multinational spanning 14 different business units (about 4500 users per unit). Each of the business units has its own IT department, some cooperative, others not. Most use SMS but even for the cooperative departments we’ve got two problems: 1: The HR department feels they get low priority when dealing with IT which is one of the reasons they farmed the project out to us. 2: Each business unit has a significant number of field reps with “rogue” laptop configurations that are not under the SMS umbrella.
Over the past few years the HR department has been very happy with us for two reasons: 1. The CD-based Director/Lingo projects ran in every environment, just put the disk in and go to work, no alarms, bells, or flashing warnings about admin privileges etc…, 2. We answer directly to the HR department giving them top priority.
This year one of the larger (more influential) business units insisted on doing away with the CD and wanted everything online while the other units would continue to get a CD. Shockwave was out of the question because the plug-in is not included in the standard disk image but Flash is, this forced a change in our code base from Director/Lingo to Flash/AS3. The client is actually very happy with the Flash/AS3 product but until we get all of the business units using the online version the CD will probably have to be a Director/Flash hybrid.
It seems a shame. It looks to me like this is exactly the type of project AIR was designed to address but for now I don’t see a way to make it work.

I know this doesn't help you much, but, I think you have to see if your Mac pro does audio out via HDMI. I don't even know if mine does via DVI. I think it may have to do with the adapter. Try going into Audio MIDI and setting the digital out to multichannel
and using the toslink cable for now. Lemme see...apparently DVI does not carry audio at all. Hm. apparently monoprice could be helpful? If I understand what you're saying correctly: you want to take DVI and multichannel audio via the Toslink and have it all go out over HDMI, right?
