Running BPEL process on different engine

Hi,
I need to proof the platform independence of BPEL, therefore i need to run my oracle jdeveloper bpel process on different engine like ActiveBPEL or Sun OpenESB engine as part of NetBeans Enterprise Pack. Any idea how to migrate my project to any other engine?
Thx, Marian Petrik

ok,
Oracle conforms to the BPEL standards, but the deployment, the so called BPEL Suitecases (jar files). Furthermore the bpel.xml file is vendor specific, so using other BPEL engines, you have to conform to their syntax.
To solve this issue, you could doing this by using JDeveloper and deploy and test as normal (against Oracle BPEL PM). Than use the ant-tool to create/collect the .bpel file can create the appropriate files for other engines.

  • Checking for status of a long-running BPEL process

    Hi experts,
I have one BPEL process for originating customers' loan which usually involves various steps which takes around 15-20 mins to complete per instance. I would like to implement a user interface that can check the process's progress and display how it is going to the user.
I have thought of using an asynchronous process that updates a global variable listing status of each step inside the process and use a poller to invoke another operation (like "checkStatus" operation) of this process to retrieve this variable and display the value to the users. It may be achieved by using "OnEvent" activity waiting for "checkStatus" operation. It will run in parallel with the main process, have access to the global variable and reply this variable immediately to the caller.
It sounds like an idea in theory but invoking a web service operation for polling status is very heavy-weight and may impact performance during high-load.
I am just wondering if there is other solution to this problem as I believe the status checking is a very common expected requirement in long-running BPEL process. What might be the best practice to implement this?
    Look forward to your responses.
    Thanks and regards,

    Hi.
I apologize for the slow reply. I am just back from overseas and did not have chance to go to the forum!
Thank you a lot for your responses!
The BAM looks like a suggested out-of-the-box solution. But it ties too much to Oracle API and will be hard to customise the way you want to interpret the status to end-users. If you want to display the process status with BAM in a web application interface, ADF is the only solution (please correct me if I am wrong). I would prefer a stand-alone, free of proprietary API solution so that we can build a screen that is technology-independent. As ADF UI is not our only supported view technology. For example, a PHP web client should be able to interpret the BPEL process status.
Will really appreciate your suggested solution.
    Thanks and regards,

  • Restart of SOA Suite server = Manually restart all running BPEL processes?

    Hi,
Is it true that in SOA Suite 10.1.3 you have to manually restart all running BPEL process if you restart the SOA Suite? And that this was working in 10.1.2?
If it is true, how do people handle that? We might have thousands of processes waiting in Waiting state on the server so this sounds like a nightmare. :-)
    Regards Pete

Yes, I was a bit surprised too, that is why I am asking. :-) I was a colleague that told me that it was not working in 10.1.3. But I should just go and check it out.

  • Error while running BPEL Process with Oracle Apps Adapter.

    Hi All,
I am trying to configure the oracle apps adapter in JDeveloper.
Here my EBS is running on different database where as SOA is installed on different database.
I am able to properly configure the adapter & deploy the process to weblogic server.
But when I am trying to run the process I am getting following errorr.
    <p>
The JCA Binding Component was unable to establish an outbound JCA CCI connection due to the following issue: BINDING.JCA-12510\nJCA Resource Adapter location error.\nUnable to locate the JCA Resource Adapter via .jca binding file element <connection-factory/>\nThe JCA Binding Component is unable to startup the Resource Adapter specified in the <connection-factory/> element: location='*<JNDI Name passed in Oracle apps Adapter.>*'.\nThe reason for this is most likely that either \n 1) the Resource Adapters RAR file has not been deployed successfully to the WebLogic Application server or \n 2) the '<jndi-name>' element in weblogic-ra.xml has not been set to <JNDI Name passed in Oracle apps Adapter.>
    </p>
Please suggest the solution for the same.
its really urgent . waiting for reply.

Have you created a connection pool with the JNDI specified while configuring adapter in Oracle Apps adapter on weblogic admin console. You should create it at Deployments --> OracleAppsAdapter --> Configuration--> Outbound Connection pools
Make sure to update the adapter after creating a connection pool so that changes can take effect.

  • Error in running BPEL process

    Hi,
I m new to the BPEL. I designed one BPEL process with one partner link. it compiled successfully and got deployed successfully too. But when i m trying to run it thru BPEL Console web app. it is showing error as invalid WSDL or Can not find WSDL location.
    Plz help me out.

sounds like a proxy issue/ is there a proxy between the bpel server and the service (or the service should be accessed w/o proxy?)
check out the obsetenv.bat/sh file - which sets up the enviroment ..

  • Invoke OnMessage activity of a running BPEL process instance...

    Hi,
We are using Oracle BPEL 10.1.2.0.2. I am willing to invoke a running instance of a BPEL process (Timer) in following scenario:
The 'Timer' BPEL Process gets initiated, and logs its instance-id into the database
'Timer' process waits on an OnMessage activity for another process to invoke it
Another BPEL process selects the instance-id of 'Timer' process from the database
The question is: in the above scenario, can the 2nd BPEL process invoke the OnMessage activity of the Timer BPEL process. I did search through the Locator API but was unable to find a method which can invoke a running BPEL instance.
I am not willing to use correlation here because correlation does not guaranty the invocation of the target BPEL process and also does not generate any error if no instance gets invoked.
    Thanks,
    Upendra Jariya.

JDK 5.0 includes sample code for java.lang.management API in the <JDK>/demo/management directory. In particular, demo/management/VerboseGC demonstrates how to use the java.lang.management API to print GC statistics in a similar way to -verbose:gc.
You can reference this demo program and make appropriate modification, for example, just to call java.lang.management.MemoryMXBean.setVerbose() operation to turn on/off the -verbose:gc tracing.

  • Bpel Process invoking different BPEL process

    Hi all
We have a situation here. It goes like this.
We have a requirement to call another BPEL process from ours. The calling process is fine. But the called process threw a lot of error due to which we discarded it and created a new process. We have mapped the same to the original calling process. Now,even after undeploying the discarded process, our main process is still calling the old process that is not even there on server and is constantly completinh in an unintended manner.
If anyone has faced this issue previously, kindly throw some light on this.
    Vijay

I don't understand "mapped the same to the original calling process." If you created a new callED process with the same name as the original callED process, you will want to replace the callED processl partnerlink and WSDL in the callING process, as another poster suggested.
If the new callED process has the same name and exactly the same WSDL as the old one, you could be able to get away without changing the callING process. You have to be very careful to clear the old/bad callED process from the server. This may be overkill, but I suggest doing this in the BPEL console:
    - Select the old/bad process in the BPEL console, go to the Manage tab, select Undeploy.
    - Go to the Administration tab, Actions subtab, hit the Clear WSDL Cache button.
    - Delete all files from your JDeveloper BPEL project output folder and recompile.
    - Deploy your process to the BPEL server.
    Good Luck!

Whatever process instance I am trying to run and view with the visual flow, I get a emty error message window "Exception" with an X that would never close.
There is no specified error message.
Futhermore it is not possible to delete / undeploy processes.
    Thank you for help

    Hi,
I know I've seen this problem with Firefox. I'm not sure of the exact list of browsers that are supported, but I know that IE works well. Firefox seems to work fine, until you try and view the audit trail.

  • Help needed in oracle 11g soa suite.........(BPEL Process manager)

but the problem is agter installation we are not getting anuthing called oracle bpel process manager and also we are not able to run soa suite..........*
Can you please suggest how we can install the same or is there any other way so that we can run bpel process manager.*

    Hi,
    Download SOA 11.1.1.2.0 from OTN.
    1. Don't forget to download RCU (Repository Configuration Utility). It is an extractable zip folder. Extract it. Navigate to its bin folder. Invoke rcu.sh/rcu.bat. It will open RCU. Choose Create. Enter your db details. In the next screen, choose SOA Infrastructure schema. Provide a schema prefix. Default would be 'DEV'. Proceed with further steps.
    2. After installing 11gR1, navigate to your $ORACLE_HOME/common/bin
Invoke config.sh/config.cmd based on your OS. This will open the configuration wizard.
Choose create domain option. Enter the domain name. Select the templates: SOA Suite and Enterprise Manager. In the JDBC Datasources screen, enter the SOA schema information, db details. Complete the wizard. No need to customize anything else. This will create a SOA Domain.
    3. Run the setNMProps.sh/cmd from $MW_HOME/oracle_common/common/bin folder.
    4. Navigate to $MW_HOME/wlserver_10.3/server/bin. Execute startNodeManager.sh/cmd. This will start the node manager.
    5. Now navigate to your $DOMAIN_HOME. You will be able to find startWeblogic.cmd/sh file. Execute it. This will start your Admin Server.
    6. Once the server started, login to WLS Admin Console (http://host:7001/console). Navigate to Servers. Click on Control tab. Select soa_server1. Start the server.
This will start the SOA server. To test your soa is up, access the url http://host:8001/soa-infra
There is no BPEL Console/ ESB Console / OWSM console in 11g. Everything is managed from your EM. EM url would be http://host:admin_server_port/em (http://host:7001/em)

  • How to execute BPEL process and invoke web service and workflow design

I am completely new to Oracle software. i need to develope BPEL process using oracle
I have installed almost all necessary product like oracle SOA suite , jDeveloper, BPEL process manager.
But nothing works . i did not installed patches.
I INSTALLED ALL LATEST SOA SUITE 11g AND ORACLE BUSINESS MANAGER (10.1.3.1.0). BUT I AM LACKING bpel DESIGNER. For that purpose i downloaded and installed oracle JDeveloper 11g studio version. but it does not have bpel designer.
all tutorial are based on either eclipse based bpel designer "bpelz" OR jdeveloper based. but latest JDEVELOPER 11g studio version does not have any bpel option. even i can not able to download necessary patches.
KINDLY TELL ME NECESSARY PREREQUISITES TO RUN BPEL PROCESS TO setup complete bpel environment.
necessary tutorials links and software to download.
    Thanks in advance K. ROY

    Hi Roy ,
The Jdeveloper 11g does not have plugin for BPEL .
    download jdeveloper 10.1.3.4 from
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/jdev/index.html
and run a online update for the jdeveloper . This will give you the BPEL project option.
A very good link for learning BPEL is :

1, Does/Should end-point become inaccessible? Or Does service remains accessible but throws service remote-fault execption?
2, What happens to a process which is in running state?
My experience in these scenarios is not encouraging; we have notices the following -- during the time when our SOAINFRA database is down, the in-process (running) instances are left in a running state. These instances do not complete or move forward even when the Database is back. These instances do not provide any information in the Enterprise Manager.
Also, if DB is down WSDL's are still accesssible, is this right way?
If this is how SOA does work then I would doubt for its merit……...your thought plz????
    Thanks & Regards

I am not posting here because I'm smart but because your questions look interesting.
during the time when our SOAINFRA database is down, the in-process (running) instances are left in a running stateYou know that BPEL is a state-full product and it needs database support for persisting the process of state so if database goes down it is an expected behavior that processes may stuck in the same state where they were when DB went down. I don't see anything wrong with it.
These instances do not complete or move forward even when the Database is back.Instances should auto/manually recoverable. If this is not the case then you may raise a SR with support.
These instances do not provide any information in the Enterprise Manager. What information you could not find? Can you be more clear on this?
Also, if DB is down WSDL's are still accesssible, is this right way?Yes, again it's expected because design time data also gets stored in DB only and hence if DB goes down, any design time data may not be accessible.
If this is how SOA does work then I would doubt for its merit……...your thought plz????Why so? Alternative of DB is physical memory and that I don't think is perfect for long running BPEL processes and their heavy design time data. Moreover, it will create problems in terms of auditing, support and maintenance. If your requirement is such that it does not need any long running BPEL processes and even auditing is not required and use case is simple routing and transformation with no DB dependency then you may go for OSB which is a stateless product. BPEL is generally used for long running processes and hence DB is the best option, in my opinion at least.

  • Develop BPEL Processes

    Hello All.
I installed Oracle Middle Tier, Oracle Infrastructer and Oracle BPEL PM on a VM server. When Oracle BPEL PM for Middle Tier was installed I realized that there is no JDeveloper in this installation.
    Now a stupid question:
    1. How is it possible to develop BPEL processes (When i installed BPEL PM for
        middle tier)?
I installed the JDeveloper on the server but there is no     plugin to develop BPEL processes.
    2. Do I have to install Oracle BPEL PM for Developers on the server (instead of
BPEL PM for middle tier) or local on my computer?
    3. I need the middle tier installation because I want to show some values in Oracle
Portal. Do I have to develop the processes local     and the run them on the middle tier installation?
I am a little bit confused, ... so it would be nice if someone could explain how it will work!
    Thx

Thank you mbrouwer for your answer.
So it is right, that if i want to develop a BPEL process I have to install BPEL PM for Developers on my computer and then make a connection to my server on the VM?
But for what do I need the installation of "BPEL PM middle tier" on my VM server? Do I only need them to run BPEL processes on my Server middle tier installation or is it possible to delete them?
Is it a normal solution to develop on the local machine and later run the processes on a server?
I am using a Windows on my local computer an linux for the server installation. When I install BPEL for Developers on my local Windows machine, is there a problem to run those processes on my server with linux?
    Thank you
