Running CMP EJB in remote OC4J fails, works in embedded. Oracle 9i

I more or less followed the EJB Tutorial (in the help) for creating a session-entity bean facade from Oracle 9i tables. Everything executes correctly in the embedded oc4j but it fails on the remote oc4j with
java.sql.SQLException: Invalid column name
     at oracle.jdbc.dbaccess.DBError.throwSqlException(DBError.java:187)
     at oracle.jdbc.dbaccess.DBError.throwSqlException(DBError.java:229)

     at com.evermind.sql.FilterResultSet.getString(FilterResultSet.java:585)
     at EmployeeLocalHome_EntityHomeWrapper13.findAll(EmployeeLocalHome_EntityHomeWrapper13.java:1260)
Then I also created another simpler CMP EJB that just has 3 fields from Oracle table. This one doesn't even work in embedded oc4j :
com.evermind.server.rmi.OrionRemoteException: Database error: ORA-01747: invalid user.table.column, table.column, or column specification
     java.util.Collection TimesheetHoursHome_EntityHomeWrapper11.findAll()
Are there any known problems I should look out for with generating CMP EJBS with wizards?
I think the IDE is more intuitive than WSAD. It would be great it things worked though.
Another question is regarding relationships. Do the wizards always use ejb-refs to implement relationships? It should be easy enough to add them with EJB Editor if they do not.
Thanks for any help.

Known issues are documented in the release notes
http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/htdocs/readme_903Preview.html#ejb
<<<Another question is regarding relationships. Do the wizards always use ejb-refs to implement relationships? >>>>
Not sure what you meant here. If you reverse engineer let us say DEPT and EMP tables, foreign key relationships between the tables are reverse engineered as CMR but there aren't any ejb-ref/ejb-local-ref tags which get generated in the deployment descriptor.
<<It should be easy enough to add them with EJB Editor if they do not. >>
You can double-click on the EJB to bring the EJB Module Editor and select "Relationships" node to add/edit/delete relationships visually.

  • Trouble finding optic.jar while looking up EJB in remote OC4J (OAS)

    I have a BPEL process that I am deploying to an embedded OC4j (lightweight) that is available with the default install of BPEL Process Mgr developer version using JDeveloper. In that BPEL process I have a BPEL-exec (java embeding) that tries to invoke an EJB running in a separate Oracle Application Server instance (in the same box).
    My BPEL process is unable to find the optic.jar support classes that is needed for a client to lookup the remote EJB. It needs the opticexception classes etc..
    My settings in the Java standalone program that is being invoked via bpel-exec include:
    private String initialContextFactory = "com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory";
        //private String initialContextFactory = "com.evermind.server.ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory";
        private String providerUrl = "opmn:ormi://10.14.2.2:6003:home/Sanity";
        private String urlPkgPrefixes = "";
        private String mapEjbJndiName = "Redlands";
        public String getDefaultMapName() {
          try {
              Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
              env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, getInitialContextFactory());
              env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, getProviderUrl());
              if (getUrlPkgPrefixes() != null && !getUrlPkgPrefixes().equals(""))
                  env.put(Context.URL_PKG_PREFIXES, getUrlPkgPrefixes());
                env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL,"admin");
                env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS,"welcome");
                env.put("dedicated.connection", "true");
    context = new InitialContext(env);I even tried including all the needed jars in the BPEL-INF\lib directory, but still I see these messages in the BPEL console (unable to find the needed classes). How can I solve this?
    Here is the error message I get:

    Hi clemens,
    thanks for responding.
    As suggested by you I copied the files into applib directory of oc4j/j2ee/home. In addition, I verified the system classpath of BPEL (when it launches), It has the actual physical directory where optic.jar was located. It still fails!
    Here are the files in the applib directory. These sames jars I even copied to my BPEL-INF directory and verified it is in the BPEL suitcase.
    ejb.jar
    javax77.jar
    jms.jar
    jmxri.jar
    jndi.jar
    oc4jclient.jar
    optic.jar
    readme.txt
    servlet.jar
    I still get this error:

    Why is it giving invalide identifier? the length of this identifer is also less then 30 and there are no special characters being used in it.

    I think I have read that you cannot use the "." to navigate through the object, you can only use it for accessing a field of an object (i.e. a column of a table in the DB).
    So, never use more than 1 "." in your requests. In your case, I guess that you need to reformulate the request.

  • Remote Panels not working in embedded viewing mode

    Hello,
    I'm trying to develop a web version of my project using Labview remote panels. I configured the web server properties as it's described here: http://www.ni.com/white-paper/4791/en/
    Currently I'm trying to create the web page on the web publishing tool. However when I select the Embedded viewing mode option I get an "Requested VI is not loaded into memory on the server computer" error on the web page that is created. But if I select Snapshot or Monitor viewing mode option the page is loaded without problems.
    I'm using Labview 2013 and oppening the web page in google chrome. The VI from which I'm trying  to create a remote panel has some subVIs that show the front panel when called. Is there anything I'm forgetting to configure, or do I need to have any plugins instaled on my browser?
    Solved!

    There you go, good solution. When doing this remember that you have access to the database on the server. A structure I have found effective is to use the server DB like a dropbox that I write to, and the web server reads from.

  • Error when accessing CMP EJB methods

    I get a strange error, when I access a getter method in my remote interface to query the variables in my CMP EJB. I use Jdev 3.2 agains Oracle 8.1.7.
    I can see that the error must be originating from the persistance manager BC4J XML, but not sure how to resolve it, any help is appreciated.
    The line having the problem is the second line;
    portofolio.Portofolio remoteInterface = homeInterface.findByPrimaryKey("Fantacy");
    System.out.println("The record is " + remoteInterface.getPORTO_TYPE());
    The full error stack is as follows ( I don't see why there is a complaint about an update statement ?? );

    Hi,
    How did you map the CMP-fields? I got the same Exceptions when I mapped a column which is DATE type to java.lang.String. DATE type column should be mapped to java.sql.Date.

    I'm unable to access an EJB deployed on a remote OC4J instance (ie, part of a 9iAS installation on another machine vs local in JDeveloper).
    I've reverted to a stupid-simple EJB in hopes of getting it going prior to trying my actual code. The EJB works fine in JDev (9.0.3) - I 'run' the EJB to start the local OC4J instance, run my client code (generated via the "New Sample Java Client..." option in the Navigator context popup) and all is well.
    I then create an EAR file via the the "Create EJB Jar Deployment Profile..." context popup of the ejb-jar.xml node, followed by "Deploy to EAR file" from the context popup of the resulting ejb1.deploy node. I next "Deploy EAR File" via the "Oracle Enterprise Manager" that comes with 9iAS (the :1810 port). After successfully deploying, I modify my client code in JDeveloper, specifying the new connection information for the remote machine via the Hashtable constructor of InitialContext and attempt to run it. I've tried a number of Context.PROVIDER_URL forms, including: ormi://registered_pingable_host_name:23791/deployed_application_name
    ormi://registered_pingable_host_name:23791/session_deployment_name (from the <enterprise-beans><session-deployment name="xxx"/></enterprise-beans> section of my orion-ejb-jar.xml file, as per a tip in this forum)
    I've tried prefixing ormi:// with http:, but get no response whatesoever in this case.
    I've also tried it without the port number (this port number matches that in my remote OC4J's <oc4j_instance_home>/config/rmi.xml file).
    On the Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL and Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS settings, I've tried various values, generally using the 'admin' user, with passwords taken from:
    <oc4j_instance_home>/principals.xml
    <oc4j_instance_home>/application-deployments/application_name/principals.xml
    I've also tried matching the password in the jazn-data.xml, to no avail - this password appears encrypted anyway, but thought I'd give it a try on the off-chance that it was just a randomly-generated password - no go.
    I've also tried SCOTT/TIGER, anonymous, etc. Incidentally, the 'deactivated' attribute of the <user> tag is set to "false" in my principals.xml files.
    No matter what I do, I always get back "javax.naming.NamingException: Lookup error: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect"
    Additionally, I get this same message when I try to establish an Application Server Connection via JDev.
    Clearly, I'm missing something critical (and probably simple), but I can't for the life of me figure it out.
    Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Jim Stoll

    Ok, well this is a bit strange...
    3103 - 3103 also fails, and some experimentation has led me to find that any time that I specify a range smaller than 6 (3101 - 3106 works, 3101 - 3105, 3101-3101, 3103-3103, etc does not), the OC4J instance will not restart. I get "An error occurred while starting. The opmn request has failed. From opmn: HTTP/1.1 204 No Content Content-Length: 0 Content-Type: text/html Response: 0 of 1 processes started. Check opmn log files such as ipm.log and ons.log for detailed." in the OEM window (I specify the RMI port range, hit Apply, go to the OC4J instance home page, see that the Status is 'Down', hit Start, and get that message.) <ORACLE_HOME>/product/iasinfra/opmn/logs/ipm.log tells me:
    02/12/03 09:41:12 There is no rmi port left for starting an OC4J process. Please check oc4j's port property in OPMN's configuration file.
    02/12/03 09:41:12 start_proc: UID 3719788: failed to build args
    02/12/03 09:41:12 start_proc_req: failed to start a process in GID OC4JJim2, type: 2
    If I bump it up to 3101 - 3106 or higher, it starts right up. Running opmnadmin debug, as suggested by Venky (thanks Venky!), yields:
    PROCESS TABLE
    UID PID FLAGS TYPE STATUS REF HTTP AJP RMI JMS
    3654011 84 00000040 OC4J Alive 1 0 3005 3106 3206

    3456376 14964 00000000 OC4J Alive 1 0 3004 3104 3204
    Which is what I would expect, given the specified range of 3101-3106. Trying each of these ports in turn, I've found that I can hit the EJB successfully on 3106, but 3101 - 3105 all fail with:
    javax.naming.NamingException: Lookup error: javax.naming.AuthenticationException: No such domain/application: Project7_2; nested exception is:
         javax.naming.AuthenticationException: No such domain/application: Project7_2

         java.lang.Object javax.naming.InitialContext.lookup(java.lang.String)
              InitialContext.java:350
         void Samplemypackage9.MySessionEJBClient1.main(java.lang.String[])
              MySessionEJBClient1.java:15
    I'm a little concerned about assuming the high-end of the range to be the active port on a regular basis (though thus far, among about 20 - 30 tries spaced over 20 - 30 minutes, it has been...) - I guess I can have my code loop through the range until it finds a good port or exhausts the list, but that seems a bit excessive.
    Can you think of a reason that my OC4J instance won't start with a range size of less than 6? I'm on 9iAS 9.0.2, if that makes any difference.
    Thanks,
    Jim

    The problem is that I want to run the application on the Integrated server because I want to add some SOA components on it.
    Is there any way to get rid of this "missing class" error?
    Thank you in advance for the help.

    Hi, check if you have an existing deployment profile for your project and make sure the google maps jar is been added to the profile. When you use integrated the application gets deployed to the server so it takes all of its libraries and gets them deployed into the server. With embedded everything gets loaded from your application directory.
    If you don't have a deployment profile, create one and manually add the gMaps library and see if this time the integrated server uses your new deployment profile.
    Cheers,
    Juan C.

Also other toplink tutorials that i have work without oc4j.

    This happens when i run toplink project inside oc4j, with a normal java client outside oc4j it works.
    The strange thing is the root cause of the problem (the exception complaining about signer) . If the root cause of this problem was really correct system wide, neither security code samples nor the standalone client that i tried would have worked.
    Only similiar issue I've found on the net is a problem that occured under eclipse due to a bug in previous versions of jce, but it seems this is no longer an issue.
    No one other than me seems to have this problem, so this implies a problem with my system, but the root exception about signer information (which is not correct) says there is something wrong with toplink/oc4j runtime or there is some subtle bug.
    I am trying to download another jdk1.5 version to see if this is a subtle bug of java-1.5.0.04 and oc4j, but either sun servers or my isp has a problem because the download is in the order of bytes and fails all the time.
    I think there can be a problem with the java2.policy file under oc4j config dir, but i don't know if it is really used and necessary or not.
    I don't know much about oc4j config so i need some help to proceed. thanks in advance

    Sorry, I tried something that I should have tried before posting, that gives another information about my problem.
    when i use standalone oc4j using start_oc4j.bat under jdev/bin, I also get the same security exception stack (nothing deployed to server) during server initialization. the default java command in start_oc4j.bat is this:
    OC4J_OPTS=
    VM_OPTS=-XX:MaxPermSize=256m
    JAVA_COMMAND="%JAVA_HOME%\bin\java.exe" %VM_OPTS% -jar oc4j.jar %OC4J_OPTS%
    if I change the command to this:
    OC4J_OPTS=
    VM_OPTS=-XX:MaxPermSize=256m -Xbootclasspath/p:"%JAVA_HOME%\jre\lib\ext\sunjce_provider.jar"
    JAVA_COMMAND="%JAVA_HOME%\bin\java.exe" %VM_OPTS% -jar oc4j.jar %OC4J_OPTS%
    and put sunjce_provider.jar on boot classpath I don't get that exception and oc4j initializes normally. My new questions are:
    1. what is the reason for this behavior
    2. how can I specify boot classpath option for embedded oc4j and/or JDeveloper

  • EJB doesn’t respond with BPEL running on the same remote server

    To all,
    I have a BPEL transformation (XSL) calling a remote EJB. It worked with the BPEL process running on the BPEL Designer or in the local host. However if I deploy and run the same BPEL process to the remote server (i.e. the EJB and the BPEL reside in the same server), the EJB doesn’t seem to respond. The process runs fine but just does have the values from the EJB. Where should I look and debug this problem?
    Here is some more information about the EJB: I have the XSL calls a User Defined Extension component. This component calls a Java utility program in turn calls an EJB client (i.e. Business Delegate). The EJB client calls a Session bean (Session Façade) in turn calls two Entity beans. I packaged the codes in two jars: the EJB and the EJB client in one jar and Java utility programs in another jar.
    I deployed the EJB in EAR using the JDeveloper to the remote BPEL server. I FTPed the two JAR files into <ORACLE_HOME>/j2ee/OC4J_BPEL/applib in the remote server. After the deployment, I test the transformation either from BPEL Designer and BPEL local host. They both access the remote EJB successfully. However if I deploy the BPEL process to the remote server and run it from the remote server, the EJB doesn’t seem to respond. All the functions worked correctly except there is no value from the EJB. Any advice will be appreciated.

    Try the following, in order, until (hopefully) resolved:
    1a. Delete Preferred Network(s)
    System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Wi-Fi tab
    Under "Preferred Networks," delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list.
    1b. Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
    Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
    In the windows on the left side: Select login for Keychains and "All Items" for Category.
    Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
    1c. Add Preferred Network(s)
    System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Wi-Fi tab
    Add the preferred network(s) using the "+" button.
    Restart or log out then back in.
    2. Move System Configuration Files
    (Note: You will have to reestablish your network connections settings.)
    Go to /Library/Preferences
    Move the SystemConfiguration folder to the desktop.
    Restart your Mac. (Note: OS X will rebuild the files that are now sitting on your desktop. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can move the folder back to it's original location.)

  • Trouble saving date in CMP EJB on OC4J

    I have a CMP EJB that I'm trying to update and there is a field that maps to date type in the table.
    I get the following error when I try to assign a string literal of the type YYYY-MM-DD:
    javax.ejb.EJBException: Error saving state: ORA-01861: literal does not match format string
    How do you know what format string the container is using/expecting to pass to the database???
    How can you specify that? The EJB itself has the field as a String, not a Date. Should it be a Date?
    The OC4J container created it that way to begin with.
    I'm using JDeveloper with embedded OC4J and the database is 8i.

    Yes, the CMP-field's Java type should be Date. On the database side, the column-type is DATE.

    more questions!
    why do you use the cd analog audio lead? if you are using Windows 98SE or late, windows supports Digital Audio Extraction, whereby it reads CD audio data digitally through IDE connection, so you can throw that darn silly grey wire away now
    are you using a USB card or bracket? they are moveable, you know
    you say you press the FM button to start the radio program. what happens if you manually launch the radio player yourself?
    Hi Dr Stu
    About the CD analog audio lead: Ohh no if you knew how much trouble I went to to get the sound working in the first place - the lead is (was)  the reason I got sound on the TV part! Please don't ask me to take it out!!  :-) (As it is now - with the new software I have to choose "line in" [apply] then "CD" [apply] to get sound] But-  hey - sound is good on a TV
    I know the bracket is moveable - sure - but after all this fuss - I am not at all sure it's worth it - just to get the radio working.
    If I launch the radio manually - it's the same " do you want to report to MS" and all that.
    Kind regards
    Morten

  • I just bought a 13" macbook pro retina display. I need to run films and presentations remotely. Does RemoteHD work on a machine without an IR sensor, or does anybody know what would work?

    I have a mid 2009 Macbook Pro and I have just bought a 13" macbook pro retina display. I need to run films and presentations remotely., i.e not sitting at the computer.
    Does RemoteHD work on a machine without a built in IR sensor, or does anybody know what would work?

    I can't vouch for this as I've never tried one, but I think this does what you're after.

  • Is it possible to get Remote Desktop to work from my Surface 2 to a local PC running Vista?

    Is it possible to get Remote Desktop to work from my Surface 2 to a local PC running Vista?
    I keep getting "cannot find PC" entering IP or PC name
    but as a test I have set up my PC to do web hosting, and I can browse to the IP address using desktop IE and see my local web pages.
    I've just found a reference that says it has to be Business Vista.
    Why would Microsoft put such a STUPID restriction in?
    I think this Surface thing is going to go back if so.
    What about Win8 64 Pro? Will that work?

    Hi,
    Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
    Yeah, windows 8 pro can connect to surface 2. There is detailed article guide for it, please check below link.

    Hope it helps!
