Running Exe via browser

Hi all,
I'm developing a system which running on trusted local area network. As a request from my client, he does't want any installation at client side, all interface must used webbrowser. In this case, I'm does't have any choice except using Servlet Technology. My system also required to talk some device at client machine. Currently system required to run external program to communicate with the devices. My problem is, how can I force my code to execute external program (*.exe) such as NotePad at client machine?
I'm tries to used RunTime class and call it from JSP pages. At my client machine, the JSP page appear and the exe application also running but it's running at Server machine.
What shoud I do now to make sure my external program also running at client machine?
Regards

Hi,
Actually your JSP get compiled and the java code is executed at server side thus the application runs on server side. If you need to use Runtime class at client side, try using it with applet instead of JSP.

  • Run form via form builder

I'm having trouble running my forms via the forms builder. Everytime i click "run", a new browser window opens with url like http://127.0.0.1:1917/FYCu0odZTxl42wlbLoQ06rso8zKuYWEVV1TpUq4OddxheEMT
The port and uri is new everytime.
I have tried with and without the "App server URL" setting in the preference. I'm able to go directly to the form servlet. I aslo have installed JInitiator
I have tried with both IE and Firefox and both behave the same way.
My OC4J is up and running.
Am i missing some setup ? I'm out of ideas...please help.

    Hi,
the OC4j knows this from your default.env file
In this file you can set your forms_path. If your directory is mentioned here than OC4J will pick up your form.
Are you sure it's running on 8819 and not 8889?
What version of windows do you have and of IE and firefox?
    So you can access this
    http://yourserver:8819/forms/frmservlet
This should give you a forms installed succesfully form at runtime
If it works put this in your edit preferences runtime url in your forms builder
you can also put named configs in your formsweb.cfg and use different env files to have multiple applications starting
if you do so there is an example from webutil
    your URL looks like http://yourserver:8819/forms/frmservlet?config=webutil

  • Air running in a browser

Does anyone know if there are plans to allow Air apps to run
    within a browser?
I'm new to Flex and Air (so i may be missing something), and
i think the concept of being able to run flex/web apps in a desktop
context is very nice, as well as the desktop API (file io, sqllite,
etc...); but why are AIR apps not able to run directly in a
browser? Why force a desktop deployment?
What would AIR in a browser mean? For me it means i can
create a flex webapp (running in a browser), that has access to all
the extended AIR API, like file io, sql database, offline support,
etc. The *exact* same app could be run in either a browser, or
desktop (or any other Open Screen in the future). A AIR/FLEX app
that runs in a browser might require that the app be signed (for
trusted access), or maybe the app could optionally run within a
restricted sandbox and not require any signing (similar to Java
applets). Having both options would be great.
But the key is having a single code-base to develop, and
giving users the option of running in either the browser or desktop
or both. For many types of apps and users i think it would be a
significant barrier to *require* installation and running as a
    desktop app.
What would be really cool is doing something similar to what
is being developed for Java Applets. The latest Beta applets allow
you to drag, or "tear", the applet off the web page on to the
user's desktop. If a user does that, they are prompted to install
the applet as a desktop application (webstart app). Why not do
    something similar for AIR?
    https://jdk6.dev.java.net/plugin2/#EXPERIMENTAL_FUNCTIONALITY
AIR also includes other components that would be interesting
to integrate while hosted in a browser, particularly webkit. Would
AIR in a browser use the host browser, or webkit? Maybe it could
optionally do both? That would be cool to have AJAX running in
Internet Explorer via a webkit runtime. In that scenario your AJAX
may have more consistency across browsers. Same for the PDF engine.
It would also be nice if all the main components of AIR were
optional and could be mix-n-matched. What if i wanted to build a
pure FLEX app that could run in browser or a desktop, have full
access to the AIR API's (file IO, clipboard, drag/drop, sql,
offline), but no need for HTML or PDF? Why incur the weight if not
    needed?
Thank you, and keep up the great work!
    Marko.

Please vote for the following enhancement request if you are
interested in having the ability to run AIR apps within a browser.
It would be very nice to be able to develop a single
application that can run either in a browser or as a desktop
application (and have access to the AIR API). Many users may also
prefer not to install desktop applications.

    Thank you.

  • Getting Data From Running EXE

    Hello,
First off, I am an amateur programmer. I have been programming for a few years now, but because I'm a meteorology major, and not a CSCI major, I haven't had too much time. Tying in the fields of meteorology and computer science, I have made a few programs about the weather.
There is a radar program, GRLevelX, which displays radar information, much like on television. With hi-tech abilities with it. One of the capabilities is placefiles, which can be added to the program. So what I am trying to do is make a placefile which shows an aerial map from Google Maps, which can be placed under the radar. When I get down to it, I have the code to grab the map and put it int he placefile format, however, the only thing I cant get is the coordinates of the visible window of the program.
Is there any way I can tap into a running EXE, get variables being used by that program, and have them returned to the Java file I have created so far? I have spoke wiht one other person about this and he said I would need to call Win32 API and get the window handler. Again, I'm very new to this, so that si kind of confusing. But I try to challenge myself with these programs, trying to learn the language a bit more. I have searched through many forums trying to look how to do this, and I can't seem to find anything. Any ideas? Thank you very much! I appreciate any help anyone can provide.
    Chris

Thanks for the quick replies. After some looking at the program and the first response, it looks like Java isn't the way to go. At least I have a good basis on how to do the main stuff, in java, just have to see if I can hand that off to someone familiar with the program to write in a different language. As for the second reply, I can see what you mean, not wanting to go into any secondary program. Especially if I don't know how its written and whatnot. There are a number of other placefiles, which do go into this program and grab data such as coordinates, and return their values. I will have to see what language they use (Visual Basic, i think?). Thanks again for the replies!

  • How do I get you to stop showing me all this unwanted crap and just run the damned browser?

I have 3.6 downloaded but it wont run because I can't get passed all the other crap customizing and just run the damned browser. That is all I am interested in, none of the other bull crap. What is so hard to understand? Keep it simple stupid. All I need is the Browser OKAY! Everybody in the world don't want that crap! Make it simple for people like me who hate this computer generation because it is all becoming about laziness and stupidity. Computers make people stupid not better. They are only a tool but technology and so called educators have taken the usefullness to far and most kids can't do math or history without some kind of cheating device. What are you gonna do when the computers die and the internet fails? Get a pen and paper, read some books and take a few investigative notes. Computers are not the answer to our problems.

  • Portal not accessable via browser as inside sapmmc - http provider is red

    Hi Experts,
I am very new to NW admin side and currently my client is facing an issue while accessing portal via browser.
Problem: Some times suddently when users try to access production portal it takes a lot of time to open up and in most cases it doesn' t get opened up at all. To check what' s wrong with the portal i access sapmmc and inside their i find under current status -> ... -> services -> http provider -> total requests in red status with a description as avg request - response time last reported value above threshold limit. It will be the same case under open alerts too.
    My server configuration is:
    SAP-JEE = 7.0SP14
    OS = Windows 2003 (X86) 5.2
    Server Version = 1.4.2_17-bo6
    Kernel Version = 7.00 patch level 109886.44
    Server = 32 bit
    RAM = 16.00GB
    Processor = Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5450 @3.00GHZ (8CPUs)
    Heap Size: 1024 MB
    Approximate number of users = 500 - 600
Currently to solve the issue, we give a reboot to server. But with the progress in time the frequency is getting increased drastically (approx once in 2- 3 days).
Any pointers on how to solve this issue will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks In Advance,
    Vipin.

    Hi all,
    Thanks for your valuable inputs!
Now the issue seems to end up by raising an OSS notes with SAP and i have been given responsibility to prepare a doc that needs to be submited to SAP.
I have already got the screenshots from SAPMMC on it' s status and all, but also requires log information specific to the reason behind this behaviour. Can i know where the log information specific to such issues gets logged and all the necessary information that i need to document to raise an OSS.
Inputs with be of great help and will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks In Advance,

  • How to run .exe files with Virtual PC for Mac

Hey Guys, I'm new around here and with mac technology as well. Anyway, I have an iMac OS X 10.5.1 Leopard and I've recently purchased the Virtual PC for Mac 7.0.2 software. So I'd like to know how to use this program properly, because I need to run some executable files in my computer. It is confusing for me because I don't know how to get started, and I only get to the part when it says "OS not found, Install an OS on this hard drive".
Honestly I've no idea of what an OS is or where do I get that. So I'd really appreciate if one of you guys could tell me, step by step, what to do to use Virtual PC properly, and finally learn how to run .exe files on mac.
    Thanks in advance!
    Have a nice day!

Always nice to see new faces
Honestly I've no idea of what an OS is or where do I get that.
This brings up the second part of your problem. The first part is setting up either a proper Virtual Machine program like Parallels or VMfusion, or setting up a Boot Camp partition on your drive.
    http://www.parallels.com/
    http://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/
OS stands for Operating System. You are running Leopard 10.5.7 as an operating system on your Mac (MacOS X).
The second part of your problem - You will need a copy of Windows XP or Vista if you want to run Windows on your Mac.
There is at least one other solution for running Windows programs on a Mac. It's called "CrossOver" by a company named 'Codeweavers'. It's based on a project for "Wine" to be able to run PC programs on a Mac or Linux, without having to buy or install Windows. It works with a narrow subset of Windows programs so you would want to make sure the program you want to run is compatible with CrossOver before you buy it.
    http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxmac/
In addition to all the above information, you need to upgrade your Mac to the latest 10.5.7 from 10.5.1. "Software Update" is located under the black Apple icon in the Menu Bar at the top left corner of your monitor. After you are updated you will want to update your Profile here so that it shows the proper OS version.
With your level of experience with MacOS X and the Windows OS's you should probably get some help from a local Apple store. They have an appointment system and do offer many types of help and training, and they can offer assistance with choosing the proper programs for you to purchase for your machine.
You are also welcome to continue to ask questions here, of course. You will want to ask your questions with different issues that come up in different threads so that the answers stay focused on the title of the thread.

  • How to run .exe files on macbook pro

Just bought my first macbook pro the other day.  I absolutely love it.  Much better than the windows boxes.  I wanted to run some '.exe' files on my new laptop but was not successful finding anything on the market to use without purchasing a full OS version of Windows.  Is there any software out there that I can use to run '.exe' files without purchasing a full Windows OS to do so.  I know about parallels for MAC but that seems to require purchasing Windows OS?  Any help is greatly appreciately.
Here are the specs on my Macbook Pro.
    2.2GHz quad core i7
    4GB RAM
    500GB HDD

Some Windows software -- not all, by a long shot -- will run on a Mac without installing Windows, with the aid of the CrossOver Mac emulator:
    http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxmac/
Games generally won't. For those, you need Windows installed through Boot Camp so you can run Windows natively.

I am sorry. I had the false impression that it was commonly known that .exe files did not run on Mac OSX natively and failed to see any constructive critique you were bringing. Maybe I am wrong. Again deepest apologies.
Unfortunately... these days... not every one is aware of this .exe  fact..
