Running from the web

I'm trying to combine two collage courses... Problem is I don't really KNOW where to start.
I've got this great little java program. I worte it with a total of four files all ending with .java. What I'd like to know is where to look to find out how to "compile" (I'm not sure if that's the right word) them and link them to a web page.
I'm assume I can run a java program from the web, I see it all the time.
Any good resources??

phoenix has the online stuff but I can't stand it...
I prefer the classroom. All my education came in a classroom. I don't know how I'd feel about a Web class.
In my JAva class, almost six months ago, we played
around with writing calculators and such. Problem is,
we only ever ran the programs from within the IDE.
I'm using NetBeans, everyone else in the class was
playing with JGrasp. You were wise to use NetBeans. I've never heard of JGrasp.
So your calculator was working fine? That's good.
I recently wrote a new little program (more
calculator BS) and it does great from within the IDE.
But that doesn't help me build it into the web page
e for my current class.
We play around with JavaScript a LITTLE. We're doing
things like mouseOver, and form varification. Not a
lot of help... And like you said, very different
mess.Javascript is okay, but it's not at all like Java.
Is there a way I can use all the code I've got,,,
like convert it or, export it, save as, or something
that will give me a file I can upload to our server
and link to the page??Depends on how you did your calculator.
If you wrote it so it displayed in a Swing JFrame, you can take the JPanel that displayed all the code and put it in a JApplet. You can insert that into an HTML page using an <applet> tag. You will package all your .class files in a JAR file and put that on the server. When a client's browser connects to the server, it'll download the JAR file and display the applet.
Can be done. Check out that tutorial link I sent. I bet that'll sort you out.
I'll confess that I don't do anything with applets. I don't think they're very important in my work. UIs that I write to run in a browser are HTML generated by Java Server Pages, or JSPs.

  • How to Run Oracle Reports from the web.

How can we run Oracle Reports from the web - for example from a portal such as "Gateway"
This is a univeristy that implements Banner - so can we run them from within Banner?

Yes, of course. And for running the reports-server you need an OAS. Maybe here is a good starting point http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/reports.html

  • I am trying to use an education program that needs Java applets to install and use and it will not use Safari. When I download IE from the web it will not install. How can I get a browser that will work on my MacAir for travel use of this program?

I am trying to use and education program that needs Java applets and it will not run on Safari. IE will not install from the web. How do I get a browser that will work to install so I can use this program when I travel.

Try using FireFox. IE will only run on a Mac if you run Windows on the Mac.
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows 7 or Windows 8.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. A more recent comparison of Parallels, VM Fusion, and Virtual Box is found at Virtualization Benchmarks- Parallels 10 vs. Fusion 7 vs. VirtualBox. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard and later. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • With OSX10.7.5 and Adobe Reader 11.0.02 when I try to open a PDF downloaded from the web I get 'There was an error opening this document. This file is damaged and could not be repaired. Preview will not open either. Older PDFs OK.

I am running OS X 10.7.5 and Adobe Reader 11.0.02. In the last few days I have been unable to open PDF's downloaded from the web. Reader gives the error message 'There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired'. Removing Reader and trying to use Preview to open these files give the error 'Preview cannot open this file. It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn't recognise' (or something like that). Downloading the same files with Reader removed from my Mac Preview opens the files OK.
I was recently prompted to update Adobe software but did not note exactly what the update was nor when it was done.
Reader and Preview will both open PDFs I downloaded a week ago. Reader will also open files downloaded on another Mac running OS X 10.0.0 and copied to my Mac. Any ideas?

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • When I download something from the Web, the "Downloads" window opens, but the window remains blank. Before it used to at least show the name of the file and I could open the file from the "Downloads" window. Is there a way to get this functionality back?

I'm running Windows XP which is updated to latest version (which I think might be Service Pack 3, but not positive.) Mozilla Firefox is version 5.0. I tend to use Google as my search engine so most of the stuff I download comes through sites found through Google, which is also updated.
At some time in the past (maybe a few versions ago) when I would download a file from the Web, the "Downloads" window would open and in the window would be displayed the name of the file I was downloading or had just completed downloading. I think I used to be able to then click on that file name and the file (or the installation file if needed to start the new program) would open. I am currently using Firefox 5.0 (the "About Firefox" screen says this is up to date) and when I download a file or document, the "Downloads" window appears on the screen as it always has in the past, but it remains blank, i.e., nothing appears in the downloads box. I don't remember making any configuration changes, etc., that may have caused the window to remain blank, but I could be mistaken. I know how to find the items I've downloaded (My Documents / Downloads) and can usually guess what the name of the downloaded file might be, but it used to be much easier when something (anything) showed up in the downloads window.
I'd love for someone to tell me about a simple fix for this. I'm willing to be quite embarrassed that I did something I shouldn't have.'''

In Firefox Options / Privacy be sure "Remember download history" is checked. To see all of the options on that panel, "Firefox will" must be set to "Use custom settings for history".
To find your OS information, on your Windows desktop, right-click the My Computer icon, choose Properties, under System on that small window is info about your OS.

  • Duplex Printing from the web with a Macintosh

I have a MacBook Pro running OSX.5.8 and an HP printer Photosmart C309a.  I have not been able to use duplex printing from the web.  Any suggestions on how I can achieve this?  It's the reason I bought this particular machine.

File > Page Setup = '''Scale'''
Scale controls the size of what is printed.

  • I have no Canon toolbar so I can't print from the Web on my printer

I have a Canon MG5120 multi-printer and when on Firefox the only thing that prints from the web is the time and date border, not the main body of whatever I'm trying to print, like an email or online article. I'm running XP, and I have the Canon toolbar on IE.

Try to reset the print prefs. See:

  • Call Oracle Help for Java in Oracle forms running in the web

    Hi, everyone,
We are developing a web-enabled Oracle database application
system. Oracle suggested us to use Oracle Help for Java(OHJ) to
create an online help system for the web environment. We
successfully created a OHJ program which can be independently.
But we still have no idea how to call this OHJ program from the
forms running in the web environment.
    Could anyone help us out?
    Thanks.

I would like to know if anyone has been able to do this too. Could someone respond if they have successfully gotten this to work?
    Thanks!!
