Running iChat on Start Up

Question

I am tring to run iChat on computer startup. I've added iChat on the log in item on Accounts menu in System Preferences, but when iChat runs on startup, it doesn't log on...it just runs without connecting.
How can I get iChat to automatically connect on start up???

Hey Didier,
I opened Script Editor and types the following script (you can copy and paste):

tell application "iChat"
launch
end tell
tell application "Fire"
launch
end tell
Make sure you save the script as an "Application Bundle."
After you select do this, control-click on the new app you created and select "Show Package Contents". Then open the "Contents" folder, and then open the info.plist file inside the "Contents" folder. You have to open it with textedit (do this by control-clicking the file and selecting "open with..." and select TextEdit.
When the file opens, type the following string (above the <key>LSRequiresCarbon</key>)
<key>LSBackgroundOnly</key>
<string>1</string>
After you type that in (or paste from this board), save the file and close TextEdit.
Go back to the "Contents" folder and from the package contents and open the MacOS folder. In that folder, there will be a terminal app named "applet" open it and terminal and process will run. Once that is done, close Terminal, close the application package contents folder, and go to system prefs, and logon and add the application you created to your start-up items. Reboot. After your computer boots up, reboot again. Now iChat and Messenger should work
One last note, in the script, instead of using the application "fire" that I use for MSN and Yahoo, just type the name of the app as it appears in the application folder.
However, I might recommend Fire for messenger...you can set it up so the IM's look like iChat bubbles. I personally like that since for years I used Windows and in Windows, you can't get anything like that. Using bubble makes me feel like I am on a Mac.
