Running tcl script in parallel with vi code

i need to run a tcl script from within a vi but i don't want to be blocked by tcl script. right now when i call tcl script within my vi using "system exec" vi, the rest of the code in my vi does not get executed until tcl script exits. i need to run tcl script in parallel.
an equivalent operation in unix can be done by running a script in background using &.
any ideas how to do it in labview.

Go to your help menu and select Show Context Help. Move your mouse over the function. You'll now see the help for the function and you can read what the input called 'wait until completion? (T)' means.

How to run .tcl scripts with VTK?

I have a bunch of .tcl scripts that use VTK. How do I run them? I have tcl/tk/vtk installed, but when I try to run `tclsh script.tcl` it outputs errors about VTK. On other distros i saw a binary named `vtk` that could run .tcl scripts out of the box. Is there something like this on Arch?

Hi, vtk is in community. It should supply the tcl bindings. I once was the maintainer when it was in AUR. It works here with the tcl examples that come with the vtk package. Have not tested the version in community yet.

Running Matlab Scripts in Parallel

I have several MATLAB scripts running in my LabVIEW VI via MATLAB script nodes, and one of them in particular slows by program down considerably. It dawned on me that I could just take the slowest commands in the script, place them in a script node running a separate VI, and run the two VIs in parallel. It seems it doesn't work that way, though - my main program runs a little faster than it did before, but I only get a major speed increase when I stop the second VI.
I realized a long time ago that two VIs running in parallel share the same MATLAB environment and can even address the same variables, but it never occurred to me that I couldn't actually run two MATLAB scripts at the same time - and that seems to be the case.
What would be the best way around this limitation? Is there some way I can force the two VIs to use separate MATLAB environments? (There's plenty of resouces available on the computer, so I'm not particularly worried about inefficiency.) Would compiling the VIs or compiling the scripts somehow help?

What is your LabVIEW version. How complicated is the matlab code? Would it be easy to rewrite it in plain LabVIEW?
Have you tried to see if it runs in mathscript instead?
( I am not sure about performance comparisons and I also don't know if mathscript can run in parallel.).
How many CPU cores do you have?

Embedded Event Manager - SNMP - run TCL script

I would like to run a tcl script on a router using snmp. I understand Embedded Event Manager can do this but haven't found what I need to run that. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Yeah, you could do this, but it depends on your version of IOS. You will need EEM 3.1 or higher (15.0) to be able to intercept SNMP GET requests. Then, you could do something like:
event manager applet snmp-trigger event snmp-object oid 1.9.9.9.9 type gauge sync yes istable no action 1.0 policy my_tcl_policy.tcl action 2.0 snmp-object-value event-id _event_id gauge 0 next-oid 1.9.9.9.9.0 action 3.0 exit 1!snmp-server manager
Then, when you query 1.9.9.9.9.0 on the device, the Tcl policy "my_tcl_policy.tcl" should execute, and the snmp-trigger applet policy will return a value of 0.

Run a script before shutdown with launchd

Is there a way to run a shell script before shutdown with launchd? In 10.4, I have a shell script to remove user's folder when a user logs off.

However, I'm not sure exactly at what point in the logout process the logout hook is executed so there might be a problem running a script that deletes the home directory of the user that's being logged out.

As Jorg said, you can pass command line arguments when you start OMBPlus.
If you want to pass parameters from within OMB, just create a proc and then run it...

deployMap <map_name>You can automatically load the proc when you start OMBPlus but putting it into ombinit.tcl (or put it in another file and put "source myprocs.tcl" at the bottom of ombinit.tcl).

Is it possible to run a subVI in parallel with the caller VI?

I have a front panel VI which calls numerous subVIs, one or two of which I would like to execute simultaneously with the calling VI. The front panel has time-dependant operations which are being prevented from running because it is waiting for the subVIs to finish, even though no data is required from them.
Is it possible to call these subVIs such that they run silently in the background allowing the front panel to execute unhindered?
I've looked at the Synchronisation features but is this what I need?

Creating a job that runs a Tcl script

Hi,
We currently have a scheduled job running a Tcl script on a 8.1.7 DB. My question is, can I still use the same setup in 10g DB (i.e. creating a job that runs Tcl script)? If I can, how am I gonna do it?

It depends on how you scheduled the job in 8.1.7 DB.
By Cronjob? Yes you can do the same to connect to 10g
By DBMS_JOB?. Yes you can do it in 10g and in addition, can improve it with DBMS_SCHEDULER
Via OEM? Yes in can use Enterprise Manager to create a Job that runs the Script.

Help with tcl script with labview

I am trying to run a program using tcl script via labview.
Currently I am using wish80 tcl to run it. And it works fine.
I tried using example I found on NI website called Run Tcl Script.vi
I will attach the vi and the tcl file. Hope someone will have a idea what I am doing wrong.

try the referenced labview example with your parameters. I guess there are some changes on the OS. (actual OS with LV6.1 to XP) :-)

Try using DBMS_SCHEDULER. Your shell script can be a scheduled job that runs right away.

Well could you add this to your composition?
add a class to all your text fields and it should work.

note that the class name has a dot before it.
You can also add the class in the UI to your text fields.

Unix master shell script to run jobs in parallel with dependency

I need a master shell script which would call the following shell scripts as per below order. Kindly note that if any shell script fails then the master shell script should abort.
Level 1     PRODUCTS

After Level 1 completes run below two shell scripts in parallel:

can i avoid using set -e and use some other method so that if there is an error in previous job then the next job is not triggered.Sure, but it is ugly.

I have set up the Demo appliance landscape for the openSAP course "Introduction to SAP Fiori UX", on AWS.
The frontend machine is OK, but the configuration and startup of the server machine has failed for some reason. When logging in with ssh to the server, this message is presented:
The Appliance Agent detected an error and terminated.
When asked, please provide the file /tmp/applianceagent_20141002-145658.tar.bz2.
Note that a restrictive iptables based firewall is still active.
I have attached the file (had to add .txt to the name to circumvent file type restrictions).
I noticed that the appliancedeploy.log ended with these lines:

Notice the 1 hour jump in time, and then the timeout error message.
Do any of you have any idea what could be causing this, and how to fix it?

Trying to create and activate a new instance (version 5 of the Fiori appliance), I first got this message in the CAL instance overview list:
Instance Operation Failed
Operation Start failed on step Start start VAs with message: Start failed for VM SAP Server due to Amazon Web Services issue : AMAZON : The snapshot 'snap-c779ff64' does not exist.
Then I terminated the instance and tried over again. And this time the deployment worked - I have a running server, which responds to the SAP GUI, and shows the Fiori web page.
