I've already installed 11G, Oracle Apps R12 and OBIEE on this server. If I use a different kernel, will everything still work? Alternatively, could I shut xen down, and be confident that everything will still work?

I just installed adobe cs4 design premium, and everything works fine except for the program I wanted most, which is Flash. It has a little circle with a line through the icon and whenever I try to run it, it tells me that it cant run because it is not supported on this architecture. Downloading Sony Alpha 900 Firmware: "Classic Environment is not supported"

Sony DSLR users have been offered firmware updates for the a-850 and a-900 since dec 2nd; I have tried in vain to download it and the message I get on my mac is : "You can't open the application DSCA900-1.APP because the Classic environment is no longer supported". What does this mean???

This is because Sony are idiots. The download link from <a href="http://support.sony-europe.com/dime/downloads/downloads.aspx?site=odwen_GB&f=FW_DSLR_A850_A900_V2_WINMAC&m=DSLR-A850"?this page</a> works, but when unzipped the file is a Classic application (pre-OSX), despite the page's claims that it's for OSX. You won't be able to run this application. You need to contact Sony and tell them they're fools.

Solution: blue ray ERROR Your display environment does not support protected content playback

I have a solution for this problem for those of you using NVIDIA display adaptors:
Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Display > Screen Resolution > Advanced Settings >
Start the NVIDIA Control Panel
in Display > Setup multiple displays
Right click the displays and select "Extend Desktop on this display"
This will allow you to play the blue ray disk.
Basically the DRM logic is blocking the output on multiple displays due to SONY's stalinesque control freakery.
This is a lesson as to why one should never buy SONY based technologies.

I found that the display driver had been changed by a remote control program to something other than monitor.sys.. once I replaced this file everything worked fine.
Control Panel - Display - screen resolution - advanced settings - Monitor - Properties - Driver - Driver Details... should read... Monitor.sys
Monitor.sys should be found under c:\windows\system32\drivers\monitor.sys.
This worked for me...

Running older games on OS X when classic is not supported

Could someone please advise me as how to run an old game (master of orion 2) on OS 10.5? When I try to run it, it states that classic environment is not supported. I don't understand why latest versions of mac OS would not be capable of running older games, which are apparently only runnable in an older frame. Is there a patch that can be installed to support classic environment programs, or is the only solution downgrading operating systems? This seems way more complicated than it should be, especially for a very simple game to run as far as graphics and cpu, etc.

Classic is not supported using Leopard, Snow Leopard or Intel Macs. Some users do use Sheep Shaver, with varying degrees of success. Many games do not work properly in classic mode, because some games use OS 9 to control the Mac hardware. They require the Mac to be booted in OS 9 (or below). Your best solution is to buy a used Mac capable of running OS 9.

Oracle product not supported on Vmware virtual environment

Oracle certification says Oracle products running on Vmware virtual environment are not supported.
One of my development Identity manager setup is running on Vmware virtual environment.
As of now application is running fine and I am getting support from Oracle on product issues.
Can anyone suggest what could be the impact of this in future and what types of issues I can expect in future.

Could you verify this behaviour outside a VMware virtual machine?
If yes, then please open an SR on Metalink to let support diagnose.
Provide an RDA, AWR snapshot if you have licensed the Diagnistic Pack - if not than provide STATSPACK snapshots.

Keynote does not support exporting with embedded Quicktime Movies

I hope this helps a few of you out before you run into this problem.
Keynote does not support export to Quicktime with any slides that contain a quicktime movie.
Created a 27 page slide show with transitions, music, narrations and 6 Quicktime movies (Actually LiveType Text scrolls)
When I attempted to export it never finishes the export cutting it short after about 20 pages.
And the pages with the movies, don't start playing.
It exports fine as a quicktime movie without the movies inserted though.
Spoke with Apple Support and they confirmed that quicktime placed files within Keynote playback is only supported from the native Keynote Application.
I read somewhere on this board that it was an issue with Quicktime version 7.5, not so as I tried the same test on a mac with Quicktime 7.42 and it had the same issue.
So, beware.

Maybe I didn't understand well what you said but it is possible to export a Keynote file with embedded Quicktime movies to a quicktime movie. Actually, I'm doing it and I works. BUT, the issue I get is that I can't get my embedded videos to loop. Grrr...

CR9/Informix 7.4: "Not Supported" error

Hi All,
I've been racking my brain for the last day on this. I have a crystal report that has sub-reports, all data is collected from Informix stored procedures, but i'm receiving a very non-descript error "Not Supported" when trying to add any new subreports:
Main Report -> (storedproc_1)
--> SubReport (storedproc_2) Existing
--> SubReport2 (storedproc_3) Existing
--> SubReportNew (storedproc_4) NEW
When i run the above report, i get this "Not Supported" error pop-up about 4 times in a row on the page where SubReportNew is supposed to run. if i suppress this subreport it works fine and shows the first 2 subreports.
The Strange Part:
When i open the subreport and run it in isolation it works! Then if i run it from the main report it works fine. But once the document is closed and re-opened its back to not working.
When i put tracing on the stored procedure i find that Crystal isn't even calling it - it bombs out before that point.
Has anyone ever experienced this, or know how i can get more description on the error messages, is there a log somewhere with more detail?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

This thread can be closed. Although I did not find the cause of this problem, i did find a work around.
I was able to create new sub reports IF i import them from previously created reports - i was then able to change the datasource & create the reports i wanted.
The only thing i can think of is maybe a Windows release has changed some dependent DLLs and causing incompatibility issues. I say windows because we have not upgraded or installed any fixes for CR9 for over 2 years and never had this problem.

Tdms does not support complex numbers?

I can see that I can create and manipulate complex waveforms in Labview, but when I try to save such a waveform in a TDMS file, I get a run-time error that data format is not supported, forcing me to split the complex waveform into two separate waveforms for saving.
Also, when I send a complex waveform to a Waveform Graph indicator, it truncates the imaginary part.
Are there any plans to add native support for complex numbers in TDMS and graphing?

That's correct. TDMS does not support complex values.

That's also correct. Think about it. What would you plot on a waveform graph? You could use something like an XY graph, with X being the real values and Y being the imaginary values. Or, you could use a polar plot (available as a picture indicator plot).

If you wish to make a suggestion regarding this, then you can post in the LabVIEW Idea Exchange, where people can vote on the idea. You may need to submit this as two different ideas since it's covering two different components.

VI runs okay in develop environment, will not load dll as executable

This VI calls a .NET dll for testing a circuit board. It runs fine in LabVIEW develop environment, without problem building executable. But the executable couldn't open the dll. The dll is surely included with the executable, but opening process still looks for this dll. If I point to this dll, then popup window shows it cannot be loaded. The .NET is 4.0. I can upload some detailed information tomorrow. Any one experienced this kind of problem?

A .exe file is a Windows executable. OS X does not run Windows programs. If you need to use .exe files then you will need to install Windows on your Mac:
Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software. Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7. Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows. Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.

Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.

I've created a .Net 3.5 DLL which is called by a stored procedure using CLR in a trigger.
Inside one of the functions I've got an update-statement against the same table as the trigger which calls the CLR code.
That update results in a SAExeption:

In short, the trigger is at the table W747 and the code fails when running the update against the same table.

Running OS X9 in Classic Environment DST

I have a PowerMAC G5 that is running OSX 10.4.9 and I run Outlook X in classic Environment and everytime I look at my calendar in Outlook the time is off by one hour because of DST. I do not have the option to change the time in OS 9 so wondering if there is a fix for this. The time is set correct in OS X 10.4.9 but not in the classic Environment. Any ideas on how to change the time in OS 9?

Although a patch has been released for OSX for the change in DST dates, there has been none released for OS 9; and probably will be none, unless some non-Apple programmer decides to do it.
While in Classic, have you tried opening the Date & Time control panel? There is a setting for DST in that - take it off the automatic setting, and then checkmark the "Daylight-Savings Time is in effect" option.
If that has been done, and the displayed times are still an hour off, then compare the settings for Time Zone in both OSX and in Classic - both need to be the same, else the displayed time will be off. That setting is also made in Date & Time.
