Running without the Apache Bridge

Recently we decided to try running our weblogic 10.x servers without the apache bridge layer. We used our load balancer to accomplish across 6 managed servers on 3 physical servers. about the same time we started to have issue with clients trying to login the site that was being powered by Weblogic Portal. Could these be related? Does Apache bridge do more than just proxy the requests? Does it supply some sort of persistence that maybe our load balancer is failing to provide? Maybe another cookie or header value?

Typically for Web Applications - requests should go to Loadbalancer --> Loadbalancer proxies requests to Webservers (Apache) --> which in turns sends requests to backend Weblogic server instances.
However we can even have Loadbalancer to proxy requests to Weblogic App servers by eliminatinf webserver layer.
using Apache Webserver proxy plugin to proxy request to Weblogic App servers is more effective - Apache proxy plugin does loadbalancing of requests to backend Weblogic servers , if you are using cluster setup and session persistance, Apache proxy plugin will be taking care of session failover mechanism (it will replicate session information of failed server to other active running server so that user will not lose this session information).
By using Loadbalancer to proxy requests to Weblogic servers you might be achieving loadbalancing of requests, but it will not support session failover & other features of backend Weblogic cluster.
Hope this helps

  • Already bought quicktime pro but still running without the pro options

    Hello.
I have already bought quicktime pro but after I had to reinstall it is running again without the pro options. I logged into apple.com and there is nowhere where I can find my actualisation or key code which I have paid for to make it run as pro.
Does anyone know where to find it or how to fix this problem so it runs as pro again without having to pay for it again?
    Thank you for your help,
    kind regards

  • Running without the battery. Bad for the Macbook?

I want to preserve the integrity of my battery, so I am runing my MBP without it in. I just have it plugged into the wall. I'm wondering, is it bad to run it without the battery? Like, are there any huge malfunctions that could happen?
I dont want to constantly run it with the battery, when I have a wall outlet. My brother did that with his powerbook, and ater a year, his battery life sucked.

All batteries lose their ability to recharge to its full factory capacity, Li-ion or not. This is the very nature of rechargeable batteries. Since li-ions don't have a memory footprint, it doesn't matter what you store them at.
    You bro read this:
A unique drawback of the Li-ion battery is that its life span is dependent upon aging from time of manufacturing (shelf life) regardless of whether it was charged, and not just on the number of charge/discharge cycles. This drawback is not widely publicized.
At a 100% charge level, a typical Li-ion laptop battery that is full most of the time at 25 degrees Celsius or 77 degrees Fahrenheit, will irreversibly lose approximately 20% capacity per year. However a battery stored inside a poorly ventilated laptop, may be subject to a prolonged exposure to much higher temperatures than 25 °C, which will significantly shorten its life. The capacity loss begins from the time the battery was manufactured, and occurs even when the battery is unused. Different storage temperatures produce different loss results: 6% loss at 0 °C/32 °F, 20% at 25 °C/77 °F, and 35% at 40 °C/104 °F. When stored at 40% charge level, these figures are reduced to 2%, 4%, 15% at 0, 25 and 40 degrees Celsius respectively
The problem is he didn't quite understand it or remember it. Storing the battery at 40% doesn't reduce the 10-20% loss. What the excerpt talks about is temperature of the environment the battery rests in. It is an interaction effect.
If the battery is at 100% charge, and stored at 40 °C/104 °F, then a 35% reduction will occur. If it is stored at 40% capacity, then a 20% reduction will occur. If it is stored at 100% charge at 0 °C/32 °F a 6% reduction will occur, when if the battery is dropped to 40%, only a 4% reduction will occur.
You bro is wrong in thinking you can stop Li-ion batteries from losing their charge. This happens from the point of manufacturing.

  • Bbm available without the blackberry bridge

why they havent add a bbm version the you can use without having to be connected with the blackberry bridge?

Apparently because they're still working on very fundamental changes to let the whole system work effectively when you have multiple devices (different PINs), like a phone and a PlayBook.
There's no particular timeline other than that they've basically promised it will be in place when the phones are ready, and will by then (or earlier?) also be available for the WiFi-only PlayBooks. (Pretty sure I got that right, but you can google for references if you really care.)

  • 6602-Can LabVIEW still run without the board having any input signals(in a simulation mode)??

    wheeler

    Wheeler,
The 6602 can physically run without any thing wired up, but it will not be "simulation" mode. Basically, you can use the internal timebase as a source or gate. For example if you are doing simple event counting, you can count the edges of the internal timebase. If you are doing pulse width measurement, or period measurement you can measure the internal 100kHz timebase. You will also be able to run the pulse train generation programs with the default setting of the internal timebase as the source.
The real answer to your question is that you do not need inputs wired up, but you do need to measure a signal (internal timebase) to get valid readings. So you can not do true simulation mode, but you can still program and test your program without your
    intended input signals.

  • MYSTERY: T410s runs without the battery or the plug

I have a video if anyone needs to see it about this Thinkpad 410s.
I always pull the battery to replace a screen on a laptop.
After replacing the screen I got ready to test it.
I forgot to repace the battery and with the power adapter NOT connected
it booted once before I realized what it was doing.
I then turned my smartphone camcorder on and it booted a second time.
Is there a second battery or is it running on capacitors?
BTW: it had been unplugged 3 days before I changed the screen.

  • Using ODBC without the 8i or 9i Client

Connecting Access.mdb on a windows station to Oracle 8i or 9i using ODBC
Can an oracle ODBC driver be installed programatically on a station without installing the complete 8i or 9i client?
The Microsoft ODBC driver for Oracle produces a message stating that the client needs to be installed.
Perhaps there is an automated way of installing the client by running a script or something.
Ideally there would be a method of using one setup program on any station that would install all required elements for this application including the Oracle ODBC driver.
Would InstallShield contain an Oracle ODBC driver that would work on 8i and 9i?

In order to use the Oracle ODBC driver or the Microsoft ODBC driver for Oracle, the Oracle client needs to be installed. You can invoke the Oracle Universal Installer from InstallShield (optionally with a response file), but I'm not aware of a more 'integrated' solution.
If the Oracle client is too large a fottprint, there are third parties (i.e. DataDirect) that would be more than happy to sell you a wire-protocol ODBC driver that can run without the Oracle client.

  • Can HTMLDB 1.6 run without CTX_DDL?

Our database is Oracle 9.03 on an alpha VMS machine.
My DBA says that there are security problems with CTX_DDL on that version and platform. We cannot install CTX_DDL until she applies patches to the database (an arduous task).
I know the WWV_FLOW_HELP depends on CTX.
Will HTMLDB 1.6 run without the CTX packages (even with no help)?

    Cyril,
Surprisingly, Oracle Text is not listed as an installation prerequisite like Oracle XML DB. It probably should be, but that's the future.
To answer your question "will HTML DB 1.6 run without the CTX packages", that answer to that is yes. A few things that won't work that I can think of are 1) warning issued during installation of HTML DB for grant of CTX_DDL 2) Presidential demonstration won't work and/or install, 3) searchable online help will fail, 4) any application which makes use of Oracle Text functionality will fail.
Ultimately, you should try to install Oracle Text in this database to avoid these errors. But applications you build before then should work just fine.

  • Modding Internal PSU To Run Without Motherboard

    http://modtown.co.uk/mt/article2.php?id=psumod
Hi, I done this a while back, following online guides where I modified an old external PSU by cutting the green wire and connecting it to the motherboard 20 pin header, which made the PSU run without the need to be connected to a motherboard.
Now, I took out the PSU that I used at the time, and its missing the cut piece of wire I used. My question is, can I use any old red/black/yellow or anything of like its kind instead? Or does it HAVE to be a green wire? I was hoping to use any old molex red wire...
    Thanks!

Quote from: Henry on 13-June-10, 12:14:03
It doesn't matter what color the insulation is as long as you know what the wire is for.
Thanks, used a normal red molex wire and it works just fine! Thanks again!

  • Error Running Forms: Failure of server APACHE bridge

    Hi Everyone,
I have this problem on windows 7 64-bit... installation went fine without any errors.
Forms was working fine, i was able to run test form, and a form that i created, and both were running properly..
suddenly, while testing a new form module, it didn't work, and its showing :
    Failure of server APACHE bridge:
No backend server available for connection: timed out after 10 seconds or idempotent set to OFF. I stopped and started the wls_forms and it didn't solve the problem..
i couldn't get to a solution anywhere, is it a problem with weblogic configuration? but how was it working well at the begining... if weblogic services are not starting, then what's the fix for that?
    Help would be appreciated...
    Thanks..

No, but as said you installed components (the HTTP Server) you wouldn't need for development. Did you start WLS_FORMS?
In any case the latest version of forms would be 11.1.2 where the installation process for a development machine is much easier.
    You'd need
    - wls1035_generic.jar and a 64bit java runtime
    - the 64bit version of forms 11.1.2: http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/middleware/11g/111200/ofm_frmrpts_win_11.1.2.0.0_64_disk1_1of1.zip
of course you can install the 32bit version of forms too on your 64bit machine.
then during installation just check "development mode", and you get a development installation like you got with iDS 10.1.2 with one weblogic instance instead of 3 and all the components you won't need (like webcache or the http server) won't be installed.
    cheers

If I run the application standalone from java command line it works fine. I think the error could be because of some oracle app jars getting picked up inatead of my application jars. How to make sure that my application jars get picked up instead of oracle jars
I tried loading my jar file and then setting it as contextClassLoader using "Thread.currentThread().setContextClassLoader", but this did not help.
Can you please let me know what can be tried to fix this
    Thanks
