Runtime call to database server !

Hi,
actually i have made chart( line chart ) but i want to make it dynamic i want to get values after a certain period of time and then draw these values but don't want to lose my previous data which is already drawn. so suppose i want to query my database after every 5 minutes how can i do that , i have made my chart but problem is that it is not dynamic.
thanks

I think you can use Thread here.
You can call your database every 5 minutes by putting your thread to Sleep for 5 mintues .
public class GetData implements Runnable{
public void run{
//Get DAta From Database
Thread.sleep(_duration);
Best,
Ronak

  • Runtime Repository on local database server only

    This is a why question, as I have read the installation and configuration guides and don't see this answer. Please forgive me if I've overlooked it.
    I am installing OWB in a client/server fashion; the database server resides on a UNIX platform, the client on Windows. I ran the OWB Repository Assistant from my windows desktop, and the repository owner and its objects were created. However, I see in the manual that the OWB Runtime Assistant must run on the same machine where the database resides. I did so, started up the Runtime Assistant on UNIX and created the Runtime Repository into a new user schema, and then a Runtime Access user. All went well.
    It looks to me as if both of these wizards create database objects. Why can the Repository Assistant be executed from the desktop environment, but the Runtime Assistant needs to be executed where the database lives, in my case, UNIX. It seems that only database objects are created, it shouldn't matter where the wizard is run from, as long as a database connection can be made.
    I feel like I'm missing a piece of the puzzle, can anyone enlighten me. Perhaps a daemon or service is started that I need to know about?

    Perhaps a daemon or service is started that I need to know about?That's it! There are some java-services running outside the database. That's e.g. the reason why you can't deploy to an OS/390 system, because these services are not migrated for this JVM yet.

  • How to change Database server is case-insensitive setting at runtime

    Is there a way to change any of the properties in Report Options > General Settings at runtime. Mainly the [Database server is case-insensitive] and [Perform grouping on server] settings. We are using the Crystal .Net X1 runtimes (11.5.9707.811). I have sesrched the forums with no luck so thought I'd try my luck here. Thankyou for your time.

    Hi Simon,
    Sorry, search for the function using the Object Browser in .NET. If you have Crsytal Reports XI R2 (11.5.x.xxxx) then you have it. Unless it's not a developer version. In whcih case you need to upgrade.
    If you do have the Developer version then simply add the RAS assemblies to your project. Look in our samples above for more info on h ow to use RAS.
    If you don't have the Developer version then your only options are to upgrade or manually change the report settings in the Designer.
    Thank you

  • Runtime Analysis - ABAP, Database, System

    Hi All,
    The runtime analysis (SE30) of a program shows that the ABAP runtime is 96.1%; Database is 3.7% and system is 0.2% making an overall 100%.
    Is it good performance? the ABAP bar is shown in red color.
    Can you please explain about this.

    Hi,
    Yes i feel its good performance, generally if the control is most of the time with the application server, rather than in the database server then it considered good performance.
    According to you it is ABAP runtime is 96.1%; Database is 3.7% and system is 0.2%.
    We can see major time is in ABAP runtime and only few calls to database. So it is a good performance.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • 'Unable to connect to database server' on local test server (CS4)

    I am a php/MySql newb. Have designed static sites in DW since Macromedia DW 4 days.
    I have set up a testing server on my Mac running OSX 10.6.7 using MAMP 1.9.5 and Dreamweaver CS4 to  test my osCommerce store (I like to see what's happening visually, even if I just change a small variable in the code). Although I have imported the store database  from my remote server, and the connection tests in the DW Database  window to the store, mysql, and information schema databases in  Dreamweaver are successful, I still get "Unable to connect to the  database server!" when I try to preview a .php page with Live View or with a browser. I'm using the  correct ports in my site definition (8888 and 8889). MAMP shows Apache  and MySQL running, of course. Have tried logging in as root and as my ususal username witht the correct passwords. Everything seems to be right...but it's  still wrong.
    Do I also need to import the mysql and information  schema databases from my remote server to replace the ones that came  with MAMP? If so, where do I put the information schema db? Although it  shows as a database in PhpMyAdmin, I don't see a folder or doc by that  name anywhere in MAMP - it must be buried pretty deep! (I did find a  file called information_schema_relations.lib.php in  MAMP/bin/phpMyAdmin/libraries. Is that it?)
    Or is it something else entirely?
    Note  that though I'm a fairly savvy user, I am not a developer or coder.  Strictly a GUI/static design guy with a liberal arts education. Keep the answers  simple and in plain English, thanks.
    Have also posted this on the MAMP forum.

  • How to FTP a file from client machine to database server using forms 10g

    Hi
    I want to ftp a file from a client machine to the database server machine using forms 10G (or PL/SQL).
    could you please tell me how can I do this
    Regards

    hi
    How to get up and running with WebUtil 1.06 included with Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2 on a win32 platform
    Solution
    Assuming a fresh "Complete" install of Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2,
    here are steps to get a small test form running, using WebUtil 1.06.
    Note: Oracle_Home is used as an alias for your real oDS ORACLE_HOME.
    Feel free to copy this note to a text editor, and do a global find/replace on
    Oracle_Home with your actual value (no trailing slash). Then it is easy to
    copy/paste actual commands to be executed from the note copy.
    1) Download http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/jacob-project/jacob_18.zip
    and extract to a temporary staging area. Do not attempt to use 1.7 or 1.9.
    2) Copy or move jacob.jar and jacob.dll
    C:\webutile is the folder where you extracted Jacob, and will end in ...\jacob_18
    cd C:\webutile
    copy jacob.jar Oracle_Home\forms\java\.
    copy jacob.dll Oracle_Home\forms\webutil\.
    The Jacob staging area is no longer needed, and may be deleted.
    3) Sign frmwebutil.jar and jacob.jar
    Open a DOS command prompt.
    Add Oracle_Home\jdk\bin to the PATH:
    set PATH=Oracle_Home\jdk\bin;%PATH%
    Sign the files, and check the output for success:
    Oracle_Home\forms\webutil\sign_webutil Oracle_Home\forms\java\frmwebutil.jar
    Oracle_Home\forms\webutil\sign_webutil Oracle_Home\forms\java\jacob.jar
    4) If you already have a schema in your RDBMS which contains the WebUtil stored code,
    you may skip this step. Otherwise,
    Create a schema to hold the WebUtil stored code, and privileges needed to
    connect and create a stored package. Schema name "WEBUTIL" is recommended
    for no reason other than consistency over the user base.
    Open Oracle_Home\forms\create_webutil_db.sql in a text editor, and delete or comment
    out the EXIT statement, to be able to see whether the objects were created witout
    errors.
    Start SQL*Plus as SYSTEM, and issue:
    CREATE USER webutil IDENTIFIED BY [password]
    DEFAULT TABLESPACE users
    TEMPORARY TABLESPACE temp;
    GRANT CONNECT, CREATE PROCEDURE, CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM TO webutil;
    CONNECT webutil/webutil@rcci
    @Oracle_Home\forms\create_webutil_db.sql
    -- Inspect SQL*Plus output for errors, and then
    CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM webutil_db FOR webutil.webutil_db;
    Reconnect as SYSTEM, and issue:
    grant execute on webutil_db to public;
    5) Modify Oracle_Home\forms\server\default.env, and append Oracle_Home\jdk\jre\lib\rt.jar
    to the CLASSPATH entry.
    6) Modify Oracle_Home\forms\server\formsweb.cfg insde [default] add :
    archive_jini=frmall_jinit.jar,frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar
    archive=frmall.jar
    also add :
    [webutil]
    WebUtilLogging=off
    WebUtilLoggingDetail=normal
    WebUtilErrorMode=Alert
    WebUtilDispatchMonitorInterval=5
    WebUtilTrustInternal=true
    WebUtilMaxTransferSize=16384
    baseHTMLjinitiator=webutiljini.htm
    baseHTMLjpi=webutiljpi.htm
    baseHTML=webutilbase.htm
    archive_jini=frmall_jinit.jar
    WebUtilArchive=frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar,f90all.jar
    archive=frmwebutil.jar,f90all.jar
    lookAndFeel=oracle
    7) Modify Oracle_Home\forms\server\webutil.cfg and add :
    transfer.database.enabled=TRUE
    transfer.appsrv.enabled=TRUE
    8) Start the OC4J instance
    9) Start Forms Builder and connect to a schema in the RDBMS used in step (4).
    Open webutil.pll, do a "Compile ALL" (shift-Control-K), and generate to PLX (Control-T).
    It is important to generate the PLX, to avoid the FRM-40039 discussed in Note 303682.1
    If the PLX is not generated, the Webutil.pll library would have to be attached with
    full path information to all forms wishing to use WebUtil. This is NOT recommended.
    10) Create a new FMB.
    Open webutil.olb, and Subclass (not Copy) the Webutil object to the form.
    There is no need to Subclass the WebutilConfig object.
    Attach the Webutil.pll Library, and remove the path.
    Add an ON-LOGON trigger with the code
    NULL;
    to avoid having to connect to an RDBMS (optional).
    Create a new button on a new canvas, with the code
    show_webutil_information (TRUE);
    in a WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger.
    Compile the FMB to FMX, after doing a Compile-All (Shift-Control-K).
    11) Under Edit->Preferences->Runtime in Forms Builder, click on "Reset to Default" if
    the "Application Server URL" is empty.
    Then append "?config=webutil" at the end, so you end up with a URL of the form
    http://server:port/forms/frmservlet?config=webutil
    12) Run your form.

  • Reading text file from database server in OA Page

    Hi Guys,
    I am trying to embed an applet with in an OA Page. The applet is used to mainly for showing Gantt chart. I have to pass my connection details from OA Page to applet, I dont pass directly the connection details to the applet so i am placing all the server details, user name and password in a text file on the database server.
    So from the OA Page i have to read the contents of the file on the database server and pass them to the applet using the <PARAM> tag. My question is how to read the text file from the database server.Any Inputs?
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards,
    Nagesh Manda.

    If the file to be read is on the database, then it makes sense to use the pl/sql code to read the file. Make a call to this pl/sql code from page controller to get back the values.

  • Database Server

    I'm trying to ascertain the hostname or IP of the Database Server I am accessing for some data mining. All I have an old version of a tool called Toad that connects me to the DB Server, but I will soon be swapping to another query tool, so need the IP or Hostname of the DB Server. Is there anywhere to find it, I know theres some.ora files somewhere on my local hard disc, will the .ora files cotnain the IP/Hostname? I cant find this info in TOAD anywhere but if anyone uses TOAD could you give me any pointers?

    Or a simple
    c:\document settings>TNSPING dbname
    Should give a cnnection string which will have the server IP but it uses the TNSNAMES.ora.

  • Database Server - SQL Access: Cannot connect from code but from SSMS

    Hi,
    I am using following connection string in my asp.net web.config:
    [Less than symbol] add name="FMMConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=xxxxxxxxx,1234;Initial Catalog=Test1Db;User Id=Rajeev;Password=xxxxxxxxxxxxx;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" [Slash][Greater than symbol]
    The database is on remote database server. The sql user/ developer 'Rajeev' is deliberately given restricted permissions (to protect our schema) using following sql commands:
    GRANT ALTER,EXECUTE, SELECT,INSERT,UPDATE,DELETE ON SCHEMA ::dbo TO Rajeev
    DENY VIEW DEFINITION ON SCHEMA::dbo TO Rajeev;
    GRANT CREATE PROCEDURE TO Rajeev;
    GRANT CREATE FUNCTION TO Rajeev;
    DENY ALTER ON SCHEMA::dbo TO Rajeev; -- To disallow Rajeev to create objects on dbo schema but only create in Rajeev schema while still being able to select, insert, execute on dbo schema.
    The above connection string works perfectly fine when used from Visual Studio> Server Explorer. I am able to execute following sql queries without issues. Same is true when using SQL Server Management Studio using Rajeev credentials.
    select top 100 * from XYZEmployees
    execute usp_GetMMBSchemeDetails '1'
    The error I get in web page is following:
    The stored procedure 'usp_GetMMBSchemeDetails' doesn't exist.
    When I ran code using breakpoints to see what is happening, I see that when connection object is being instantiated, the connection state is being closed with following error:
    at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.GetOpenConnection()
    at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.get_ServerVersion()
    I turned off my firewall to see if it was blocking but it did not help. I tried using Visual Studio 2012 as well as Visual Studio 2013 but same issue showed up.
    Kindly let me know why I am able to execute sql queries from SSMS and Visual Studio's Server Explorer but not from application code. Is there something that needs to be enabled on remote database server so that the queries can run from code? I like to create
    more users like Rajeev with restricted permissions to develop my application. So kindly provide a solution if you know.
    Thanks,
    Pullet

    Thanks Everyone for your insights :)
    RSingh, Your approach works when using SSMS, not when called from application code (example: asp.net code-behind page calling a stored proc using connection object).
    My requirement is, I only wanted developer to do front end programming without having the ability to look at backend sql objects definitions. He/she can call the sql objects in the program as needed.
    I am able to finally solve this requirement by following approach. Hope it helps others.
    1. Right-click Rajeev user in Database> Security>Users and unselect 'dbowner' from 'General' tab> 'Database Role Membership' section even though Default Schema shows up as Rajeev schema. Now, this user can't do anything on dbo schema of database
    (as well as in any other user's schema in this database).
    2. Ran above commands but excluded following command which was identified as root-cause.
    DENY VIEW DEFINITION ON SCHEMA::dbo TO Rajeev;
    3. Now ran a script that denies 'view definition' of dbo schema's tables. It loops through all tables and denies 'view definition' on each table. Adapted the script of http://blog.extreme-advice.com/2013/01/23/grant-view-defination-permission-to-all-stored-procedures-in-sql-server/.
    Now, the user Rajeev can execute dbo schema objects both from SSMS as well as from application code.
    4. DENY EXECUTE, SELECT ON SCHEMA::INFORMATION_SCHEMA TO Rajeev; -- Restricts Rajeev from executing INFORMATION_SCHEMA objects seen in SSMS.
    However one remaining open item is, I could not hide the system objects (which are part of sys schema) in SSMS. Ideally, I do not want Rajeev to execute the 'system views', 'system stored procedures', etc. When I execute same command (below command), it
    runs without errors but does not apply this restriction.
    DENY EXECUTE, SELECT ON SCHEMA::sys TO Rajeev;
    If you know the reason why it is happening like this, please kindly share.
    Cheers,
    Pullet

  • RFC call failed: JCO.Server could not find server function 'SET_SLD_DATA'

    Hi, All
    the system is PI 7.0 EHP1 oraclei Win2003 server, I configured SLD but I run RZ70, having error "RFC call failed: JCO.Server could not find server function 'SET_SLD_DATA' ". I know there are lot of tread about this error, but none of themsolve my problem. all JCO, RFC connections and SDL DATA supplier(VA) seem OK. error message in SM21 is "Could not send SLD data"
    detail from SM21
    The system could not send the data that has been collected automatical
    for the System Landscape Directory (SLD). Check whether the gateway
    configured in transaction RZ70 has been started and whether the SLD
    bridge has been registered with this gateway.
    You can use transaction SM59 to check this in the sending system for t
    implemented RFC destinations. The RFC destinations have the standard
    names "SLD_UC" for Unicode sending systems and "SLD_NUC" for non-Unico
    sending systems. If a different RFC destination has been entered in
    RZ70, check this destination instead.
    You can use the Gateway Monitor to check the target gateways. In ABAP
    systems, this monitor is started with transaction SMGW, or you can use
    the external SAP program "gwmon". Check whether the specified gateway
    has an active registration.
    OF COURSE I checked  RFC of  SLD_UC and SMGW
    any different ideas
    Regards
    ABH

    Hi
    Please check the following notes are implemented
    Note 906454
    Note 907729
    You may be aware but if you are not --->RZ70 creates the required SLD* RFCs during runtime - therefore if you have defined these RFCs manually first using the same namespace you can get RFC conflicts which result in a failed submission
    Please also check the user in the RFC is known to both systems and has required authorization to write to SLD
    Generally with SLD you have to install or select a suitable gateway to handle incoming data supply traffic
    Also the gateway you are using has be known to SLD and reflected in RZ70 - i.e these defintions have to be the same
    It is also recommended to delete all references to SLD_* RFCs in data supplier and target SLD
    after a failed submission attempt to allow RZ70 to recreate these consistently once the above has been checked
    Best wishes
    Stuart

  • How to Connect to Oracle 9i database server via Oracle 10g XE

    I have installed Oracle 10g eXpress Edition and uninstalled Oracle 9i client database. I used Oracle 9i client to connect to another Database server on a local LAN. Is it possible to create a database link to the old Oracle 9i database server via Oracle 10g XE? If yes, do I need to add ODBC drivers?
    I want to achieve the following:
    1) Create a connection to the Oracle 9i database server using Ora101040 odbc drivers.
    2) Use a similar 9i tool (Enterprise Management Console) within Oracle 10g XE to access Oracle 9i Database tables on a LAN network.
    3) Create data access to Oracle 10g XE via some ODBC connection from a C++ runtime application.
    Hope to receive help from Oracle professionals.
    Thanks.

    I have installed Oracle 10g eXpress Edition and

    local LAN. Is it possible to create a database link
    to the old Oracle 9i database server via Oracle 10g
    XE? If yes, do I need to add ODBC drivers?
    Database links between Oracle databases do not require ODBC. They do require Oracle Networking (included with both Oracle9i Database and Oracle Database 10g XE) to be configured correctly.
    It is also possible to connect ot the 9i database using the 10g Instant Client (separate download)
    I want to achieve the following:
    1) Create a connection to the Oracle 9i database
    server using Ora101040 odbc drivers.Please clarify - what client do you wish to run that needs ODBC?
    2) Use a similar 9i tool (Enterprise Management
    Console) within Oracle 10g XE to access Oracle 9i
    Database tables on a LAN network.XE does not have an equivalent to Oracle Enterprise Manager. XE does come with HTMLdb preinstalled and configured, and HTMLdb provides a subset of the administration capabilities of Enterprise Manager.
    3) Create data access to Oracle 10g XE via some ODBC
    connection from a C++ runtime application.You can download ODBC drivers from the same location on OTN you downloaded XE. I do not know whether XE includes ODBC drivers. ODBC drivers will usually still require you to configure the Oracle Networking.
    There are a number of items that make me believe you do not have a good grasp of Oracle architecture and basics. If true, I encoureage you to start reading the Concepts manual found for the database at http://docs.oracle.com, or at least the O'Reilly book 'Oracle Essentials' found at http://oracle.oreilly.com

  • How to call a sql server stored procedure from oracle

    Hi all,
    Please anybody tell me how to call a sql server stored procedure from oracle.
    I've made an hsodbc connection and i can do insert, update, fetch data in sql server from oracle. But calling SP gives error. when I tried an SP at oracle that has line like
    "dbo"."CreateReceipt"@hsa

    hi,
    thank you for the response.
    when i call the sp using DBMS_HS_PASSTHROUGH, without parameters it works successfully, but with parameters it gives the following error

  • How to see what SQL queries are made to my Database Server?

    Hi all,
    I'm a newbie. I'd like to know if there's a way to find out what SQL queries are being made to my Database server at the server end.
    Is it possible that Oracle Database Manager logs this information (including the exact query/SQL)somewhere in its logs? How to enable such an option and/or view the recent SQL queries made ?
    Please enlighten me. Thanks in advance.
    Thanks and Regards

    "I checked the V$SQLTEXT view too. It has only 64 characters for SQL_TEXT field." Yes yes but you might have noticed that it also has the column called piece. The view shows the full SQL statement broken up into little pieces. Use ADDRESS and HASH_VALUE to link to v$sql. There is also a view V$SQLTEXT_WITH_NEWLINES that throws in some line separators to make it "easier" to read.
    Example below shows full text of SQL statements currently executing.
    SQL> column address noprint
    SQL> column hash_value noprint
    SQL> break on hash_value skip 1
    SQL> select

      5  where
      6     a.users_executing > 0

  • Connection not closed in the database server end

    Hi,
    Our database server (sql server 2000) and java application are running in two different boxes. Because the java application sent to the db server quite a few queries that can not be completed (applications hangs there) due to huge amount of data (18 million records in one table and 1 million records in another table and there are joins among the three tables), we stopped the java program. However, in the db server end, the connections associated with these problem queries were not closed although the java app end already closed these connections by calling connection.close(). When this happened, we have to manually close the connection from sql server enterprise manager.
    Here are the questions.
    1)what could be the reason why db server does not close the connection?
    2)Is there any solution in the java end that could close the connection in the db server end when this situation happens? I say this situation happens, I mean in most cases when java application closes connection, db server closes connections in its end too.
    Thanks
    Mark

    Thanks for your answers and questions.
    Here are the answers to your questions
    1)The jdbc driver is jturboJTurbo? Never heard of it. You mean this?
    http://www.newatlanta.com/products/jturbo/index.jsp
    Why pay for something when you have two options available that are free? One of them is from Microsoft itself. Whose idea was this?
    2)It's a desk top application.
    It seems to me that it should not be driver issue. I was this happened the Microsoft's own jdbc driver. By jdbc specification, although you don't close the connection explicitly in the program, the connection will be automatically closed in the java app end during garbage collection. Very bad - never depend on this. Always close your ResultSet, Statement, and Connection in reverse order of opening in a finally block, each one wrapped in individual try/catch blocks.
    One should never, ever depend on the GC to take care of resources like database connections or resource handles. Those should be cleaned up by your code.
    I tested this by intentionally not closing a connection. When I stops the application, the connection in the sql server end was also closed.
    But if you don't close the application and fail to close connections, you can see where eventually you'll exhaust the pool.
    It seems to me this is a sql server issue rather than a jdbc driver issue. I need way to prove this.
    Like I suggested, it's easy to swap in the jTDS driver and try it again. What do you have to lose?
    Or call Microsoft support and ask them. Or maybe JTurbo. You're paying for it - might as well use the support.
