Runtime for VS2008 & Crystal 2008

I'm upgrading my applications from VB6 and CR8.5 to VS2008 and CR2008.  I have made a test application in VS2008VB and finally got the thing to working on my computer.  I then tried on another computer that didn't have CR2008 installed and it wouldn't work.  I need to have this capability with VS2008 and CR2008 in order to finish the conversion.  Several CR reports have already been converted and can no longer be displayed with the VB6 program.  What do I need to do?
I have worked on this issue for a week and need to get it resolved quickly.

Not sure if this will bring you the answer(s) you are looking for.
The MSDN for Visual Studio 2008 has a Crystal Reports Deployment.
The following is the link to the information within MSDN Document Browser: ms-help://MS.MSDNQTR.v90.en/crystlmn/html/topic405.htm
Section: Crystal Reports Runtime Components
In Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio, you can use .msi files for both ClickOnce deployment and Windows Installer deployment. The .msi file contains the components that enable clients to view applications that use Crystal Reports. If you use the .msi file on the target machine, the Windows Installer provides the Crystal Reports runtime files that are required by a deployment project. The .msi files are included with the Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio installation.
The following are the .msi files used in Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008.
Runtime
Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 (x86)
Location of MSI  C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Bootstrapper\Packages\CrystalReports10_5\CRRedist2008_x86.msi
Runtime
Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 (x64)
Location of MSI : C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Bootstrapper\Packages\CrystalReports10_5\CRRedist2008_x64.msi
Runtime
Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 (IA64)
Location of MSI : C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Crystal Reports\CRRedist\IA64\CRRedist2008_ia64.msi
Section: Common Language Runtime
To deploy Visual Studio .NET applications, the .NET Framework must be installed on the target computer, before you install the deployment project. When you create a deployment project, the .NET Framework is not included by default
Note
Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 supports the .Net 3.0 and 3.5 framework.
You can find the .NET Framework on the Visual Studio .NET Windows Components Update CD or from the Microsoft Web site. From the CD, the .NET Framework installer (an .exe file), can be redistributed with the deployment project.
Note
Ensure that your version of .NET Framework matches the runtime.
For ClickOnce deployment, you can include the correct version of the .NET Framework as a prerequisite setup to the published Web Site.

  • Report asks for database login in deployed version using crystal runtime for vs2008

I am developing an application with VS2008 .Net with an Interface to use external Crystal  reports.
    I created a Report using Crystal Reports 2011 "doku.rpt".
I am using a CrystalReportViewer "crpv" on a form.
I am using a ReportDocument object (Variable "ReportDocumentM"), to which I load the file "doku.rpt"  and assign the logon Settings of main and subreports (which are the same for all tables).
Using crpv.ReportSource = ReportDocumentM I assign the reportDocument to the ReportViewer.
On my develop System everything works fine, the Report is shown in the Viewer.
I created a Setup for my application and isnatalled it on another System. I also installed the CrystalRuntime for VS2008.
When I try to Show the Report, a dailog "Database Login" appears and aks for the Connection.
where the SERVER, USERID and (sometimes the PWD) Input fields are filled with  the correct values, but always the DATABASE field is empty.
SERVER and DATABASE fields are READONLY.
Hours and hours I tried differnt things, I also filled the logon info of the ReportViewer himself, nothing helped.
    The code:

Sorry, I found the solution in another discussion:
"Crystal ask for DB Connections on new installation"
Correct Answer by Marc Trudel  on Jan 9, 2014 6:57 PM ' Solved Reports are all saved with SQLNCLI which is Sql Native client 9 (2005) New computers only have SQLNCLI10 which is Sql Native Client 10 (2008) Customer will either install SQL CLient 10 on all old computer and upgrade the reports or install SQL Client 9 on new computers which will avoid upgrading hundred of reports
In my case the original Report was created on a System with both SQLNativeClient 9 and SQLNativeClient 10 on it. Because I originally used a SQL2000 database as datasource, the SQLNativeClient9 was used. It wasn't a Problem on the System when I dynamically connected to a SQL2008R" database, probably because the NativeClient9 was still there and could be used. On the other Computer only the NativeClient10 was existing and this caused the Problems.
But I think that this is a bug in Crystal: I think ist normal, that from time to time there are changes in DataBase Connections and Clients, so the reports should be able to work also with new Clients. At least there  should be a message to inform about the Problem.

  • Complied application doesn't work for client (Crystal 2008 & VS 2008)

I am creating a VS 2008 (.NET 2.0) application.  I am using Crystal Reports 2008 (v12).  Everything works fine on my PC.  When I move it to one of my client's computers and try to run a report from within the application it bombs out.
I am loading the reports into the Crystal Reports Viewer as objects.  It has always worked in the past.

There was another Crystal Reports 2008 runtime installed on the system.  It must have been the incorrect one.  I installed the one you linked to and I get much further now.  Now when I go to view the report I am prompted with a Database Login form.  This is weird because I have the credentials hard coded in the program.
    TableLogOnInfo logon = new TableLogOnInfo();
                logon.ConnectionInfo.UserID = "webreports";
                logon.ConnectionInfo.Password = "******";
                logon.ConnectionInfo.ServerName = "******";

                crystalReportViewer.LogOnInfo = new TableLogOnInfos();
                crystalReportViewer.LogOnInfo.Add(logon);
The Database Login form has Server Name filled in correctly, but grayed out.  Database is blank and grayed out. Login ID is correct and editable.  Password is all asterisks, so I don't know if it is correct.  No matter what I do it will not logon.

  • Deploying Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008

I have Windows Forms project using Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008
I can't find the merge module to include in the setup project like I used to do in Visual Studio .NET 2003
Everyone seems to say that they don't exist for that version of Crystal Reports
After searching for a long time I found something about a package located at
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Bootstrapper\Packages\CrystalReports10_5\CRRedist2008_x86.msi
Tried it and it seems to work.
Do I have to install this to the client computer ? Is that the only way having a "Crystal Reports Basic Runtime for Visual Studio 2008" in the program list of the client computer ?

    Hi Victor,
We can download all the runtimes from the following link:

  • Looping login screen in Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2008

    Hello,
I am using Visual Studio 2008 with the Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008. Visual Studio and the Crystal Reports Basic Runtime for Visual Studio 2008 (x64) are installed on both the development and production boxes.  I am using Crystal Reports via Visual Studio and do not have the full blown version of Crystal Reports installed on my machine.
We have used Visual Studio to create an aspx webpage and would like to use Crystal Reports to display a graph. The report displays fine in debug mode, but displays a looping login screen when moved into production on the web server. The web server is using Windows Server 2008 (x64) with IIS 7. We have tried passing the logon parameters to the crystal report during the page init event with the auto-bind feature enabled on the crystal report viewer. A MySQL database provides the data for the report. All ODBC data sources have been configured the same on both machines.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

    Hello,
Use a tool called ProcessMonitor from Microsoft and watch what happens when you try to log on.
Also can you verify you created your DSN using the 64 bit ODBC Admin and that you are using a System DSN so IIS can find it.
And that the MySQL ODBC drive is also 64 bit?
If you can read ODBC trace logs you could enable it also and see what error you are getting.
    Thank you
    Don

  • Where can I download the Crystal Run Time for Windows Server 2008 64 bit ?

    Hi,
Where can I download the Crystal Reports 08 RunTime for Windows Server 2008 64 bit ?

    Edited by: Rock_1234 on Aug 5, 2009 9:25 AM

    Thanks all for your replys.
As I know there is no Crystal Reports 2008 runtimes for 64 bit machines, there are only 32 bit runtimes for that product. So,I need to know when will be the 64 bit runtimes will be released or will be available.
Also, for the CR bundled with VS 2008 (10.5), there are 64 bit runtimes which you could find on your development machine under -
    ' C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Bootstrapper\Packages\CrystalReports10_5\CRRedist2008_x64.msi '
When will be 64 bit runtimes for CR 08 will be available?
    Thanks

  • CR for vs2008 not connecting on Windows Server 2012R2

I have an application running on Windows Server 2008R2 which I urgently need to mirror on Windows Server 2012R2.
However, my crystal reports basic runtime for vs2008  version 10.5.1.0
and crystal reports basic runtime for vs2008(64) version 10.5.0.0  brings up the report but doesn't seem to connect to the
database  (it seems to be pulling in a null dataset)
What am I doing wrong?  [I tried opening all incoming ports, etc, etc]
    This is the web.config line:
    <add assembly="CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ClientDoc, Version=10.5.3700.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/>
    [changing this crashes the application]

    Hi,
CR for VS 2008 does not support Windows Server 2012.
    See this article: http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?original_fqdn=wiki.sdn.sap.com&pageId=56787567
Currently there is only one version of CR which supports WS 2012, SAP Crystal Reports for Microsoft Visual Studio.
    http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-7824
You would need to upgrade to VS 2010 or VS 2012 and SAP Crystal Reports for Microsoft Visual Studio.

  • Prompts to install Crystal 2008 SP1 each time I double-click .rpt file

Every time I want to open a report (.rpt) file from Windows Explorer, I get a message box stating:
    Preparing to install...
    Followed by another message box:
Please wait while Windows configures Crystal 2008 SP1
    Followed by another message box:
The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available.
Insert the 'Crystal Reports 2008 SP1' disk and click OK.
I select cancel at this point (I've already got Crystal Reports 2008 SP1 installed on my machine).
After I select cancel, the following error appears:
Error 1706.  No valid source could be found for product Crystal Reports 2008 SP1. The Windows installer cannot continue.
I click OK and the report does not open.
If I start Crystal Reports itself, then select File, Open and select the report to open, it opens fine (without error).
The version of Crystal Reports (from Help, About Crystal Reports) is:  Version 12.1.0.892
How can I resolve this without searching for the Crystal 2008 SP1 files (which were downloaded from the SAP/BO website).

    Hi Nancy,
I've seen this happen usually when Windows Office has also been installed. The installer gets confused as to what should be installed or some dependency is missing. Not sure exactly what causes it.
Go into Control and Add/Remove Programs and try doing a repair install for both CR and SP1. Then open up Explorer and click on Tools, Folder Options and then File Type. Scroll down to RPT and click on Change or Restore. Ther main be something missing from the File type association.
Be sure to do this when you are logged in as local Administrator and/or your account is also configured to be part of the Local Admin group.
    Thank you

  • Crystal report 10  for vs2008 C++  64bit  compilation

    Hi:
I have a program develop by vs2008 C++ and  use crystal report 10(so old  the newer vision   cr2008 is not supprot for vs 2008 c++?) for report
    the 32bit program goes well
but now i  compilation the program to 64bit the  crystal report 10 cannot start
so what should i do for cr10 ?  is there any API for 64bit and some runtime for 64bit?
    Thank you !

    Hi,
Take a look at the CR + VS compatibility chart.
use could use any version of CR which is compatible with VS 2008.
    http://search.sap.com/notes?id=0001514084&boj=/sap/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes.do?access=69765F6D6F64653D3939382669765F7361706E6F7465735F6E756D6265723D30303031353134303834
As you have a requirement of 64 bit runtimes, I would suggest you to use CR for VS 2008 (10.5) and develop your application. CR for VS 2008 is installe with VS 2008 itself.
CR 10.5 64 bit runtimes could be downloaded below.

  • Crystal 2008 for VS 2010 - Report formatting issues in viewer (extra space)

    Hello,
We have a Windows Form application developed in VS 2010 using the Crystal 2008 for VS 2010 runtime. We are having issue with extra spaces in text objects. For example: in a report header we have an object that has text similar to this:
This report will print a list of all Serial Numbers in the Serial Table that are missing related Serial Meter records.
When we run it within Crystal 2008 Designer, it looks great; however, when we run it from the Windows Viewer we developed, it looks like this:
This report will print a list of all Serial Numbers in the Serial Table that are missing related Serial Meter records    .
The viewer places extra spaces between records and the period (.).  We also noticed it places spaces in phone numbers:
    952 -555-555
There's an extra space between the 2 and the dash (-).
One thing we noticed is, if you change the viewer zoom to 98%, then the extra spacing goes away.
We just upgraded to SP1 for Crystal 2008 for VS 2010 and still the same issue. We are referencing these DLLS: CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll, CrystalDecisions.ReportSource, CrystalDecisions.Shared, and CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms all version are 13.0.2000.0.
    Any help would be great.
    Thank you,
    Tyler

    Hi Tyler,
I copied the text from your other post into a new report and changed the fonts and previewed in my C# test app and I don't see the problem.
"We have a Windows App that we just converted to .NET 4.0 and updated the viewer to the Crystal Reports Viewer in VS 2010. When we 952-555-555 open a report that has a large block of static text in paragraphs left-aligned the spacing around punctuation is awful - there's almost a tab's worth of space between the last letter and the period. U.S. looks like US. This happens both with reports that were created in VS2008 and ones that were created in VS2010. It is only a problem in the viewer's display - if we print to a printer or export to PDF the spacing around punctuation is fine. It's also not a problem on our development workstations which are running Windows 7, but is a problem on our test servers which are running Windows 2003 Server. I ran the modules tool and found that the version of usp10.dll does match what the previous thread said it should be and it's coming from the c:\program files\sap businessobjects\crystal reports for .net framework 4.0\common\sap businessobjects enterprise xi 4.0\win32_x86\ folder. On my development machine when I run the modules tool I notice that a second instance of usp10.dll is called which is the version installed with Windows 7. We've tried changing fonts but none of the ones we've tried (originally in Times New Roman, 12, tried Arial, Times and various sizes) have made a difference. We also tried changing the print options with no improvement. The only thing that makes it slightly better is full-alignment but our customer insists that it be left-aligned."
I threw in the telephone number also you noted in this post.
I created a new report and copied the text above into a text object and then previewed. I then changed the fonts to various types and I don't see the problem.
I also used Courier New because it's a fixed font layout, meaning the same letter always uses the same amount of space, and it shows just fine also.
I've seen issues where the Video driver and screen size can affect the spacing. Usually updating the Video driver or changing your screen resolution resolves the problem.
What Video Drivers and Monitor are you using?
    And What OS?
    Thank you
    Don

  • Crystal 2008 Runtime error on Windows Server 2008

I have a simple ASP.Net web applications that is using reports developed in Crystal 2008.  My server OS is Windows Server 2008 and has the Crystal 2008 SP1 runtime controls installed.  When I run the application it works fine until I actually try to run the report.  As the paremeter screen is attempting to load I am getting several script errors on the page.
_de is undefined, object not specified, bobj is undefinded are the major messages.  I have researched for several hours and have had no success.  I have come to the conclusion that the web page does not know where to find the .js and .css crystal files or does not have the correct permissions to access the files.
One thing that I found online and tried was to add a line of code in the HTML that specified the script as java and the location of the JS file for the viewer.  This helped but still had errors.
BTW....This application runs fine on a Windows Server 2003 SP2 OS.
Anyone had the same issue?  Any help is greatly appreciated!
Forgot to mention my development environment is VS 2008.

  • Basic Runtime for VS 2008

I have a report that I designed in Crystal 10.  The report runs with no problems from within the designer.  However when I try to run the report in my .NET application and export to a PDF I have no luck.  The report engine just hangs.  I have a different report that I can put in its place and it runs with no problems.  The report that doesn't work has 3 sub reports and the main report pull about 48k rows from the database.  I have already deleted the subreports with not much luck.  Trying to think of other things to try.  One thing I was curious about is if there is a Service Pack for this runtime that I may need to install.  I have tried looking around but now that everything is moved I can't really find stuff as easily.  Any ideas and suggestions are welcome.
    Thanks,
    Jason

    Hello Jason,
You're using the Crystal Reports Basic that comes pre-installed with Visual Studio 2008.  Runtime download URLs have been referenced in this message: Re: Merge Module for Visual Studio 2008.
However, there's not been a very recent update to that runtime, so it may be the same one you're deploying currently.
Some background concerning Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008.  It's based on Crystal Reports 10, and not Crystal Reports XI Release 2.
Neither CR.NET 10 or XI Release 2 will integrate with VS 2008 - that requires CR.NET 2008 Service Pack 0.  But this is for integrating the .NET components of Crystal Reports, and not the reports themselves.
If you have CR Basic for Visual Studio 2008, then it should run Crystal 10 reports.
More info concerning the version pathing is given [here|https://boc.sdn.sap.com/node/5018].
Does this issue happen only with this single report?
Does it happen only on the deployment machine, or on your development machine as well?
Removing the subreports didn't fix it - what happens if you create a report from scratch similar to the one that doesn't work?  This will help isolate what component is giving problems.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

    Hi Leonardus
Please define "crash". What actually happens?
Did this ever work? E.g.; this started to happen recently?
Is this happening on your development system or QA or production?
See if enabling the option "Verify on 1st Refresh" will help.
Make sure you are using SP 1: Crystal Reports for VS 2005 and  VS 2008 Updates & Runtime Downloads
Ensure that the dataset is less that a couple thousand rows. Anything more than that will cause issues...

can any body tell me please

    Hi rebmaamberrebmaamber,
Within Visual Studio 2008, Crystal Reports is known as "Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008" and is included in the Professional Edition and higher. Please check if your VS2008 is the Professional Edition or higher.
    Technical Support
Microsoft does not provide support for the Crystal Reports products that are included in Visual Studio because Crystal Reports are SAP products. Support is only available from the SAP-provided free forum.

  • Deployment Runtime MSI Crystal 2008 SP0

I am tryimng to Deploy Runtime MSI Crystal 2008 SP0
    CRRuntime_12_0_mlb.msi found in cr120_redist_msi.zip
On Clients SBS Server 2003 running IIS6
After accepting the license agreement it asks me for the
Product ID: and I enter my Crystal Reports 2008 Full version registration number and [next] then it says
The Product key code 86my reg number is not valid or has expired
so had to exit and cancel .
I checkedby regitrstion with the Wizard on my development system and it sent me the same confirming Registration number via return email
What do I do now (Tried the exe) version same problem.
    Regard
    David

    Hi David,
Can you verify you are using Crystal Reports 2008 Developer or CR for .NET 200x? Different runtime distribution files for each.
This looks like it could be a permission issue. First thing we do is copy our key code dll to the hard drive and register it. If that fails then the install will indicate it's invalid.
Make sure you are logged in as the local PC Administrator and that you have full access to the system, sometimes IT departments modify the Admin profile.
Also that DEP is set to Essential Services only, search forums for more info on Data execution prevention on how to configure.
    Thank you
