RV220W won't recognise internet connection

My RV220W is sitting behind a Dynalink RTA1046VW ADSL Modem.
Can't get the RV220W to detect an internet connection through the WAN port. Have got the PPPoE profile set up etc. Have tried the Dynalink in bridging mode, but to no success. Tried the setup wizard.
Firmware is current: v1.0.2.4. The connection is picked up ok through the ethernet ports.
Any clues out there?

This has been resolved. Essentially what nailed it was as follows:
1. Factory reset the modem.
2. Modem set to bridging mode
3. Modem IP left at the default 192.168.1.1. The router & rest of the network are in the 17.23.50.xxx range. Putting the modem out of range like this seems to be significant as, from what I've heard, these low end modem / routers see it as their mission in life to run the network, despite what they're set to.
Now I have the Cisco picking up the connection on the WAN port using the PPPoE profile. It is also running DHCP, which never really seemed to get off the ground.
There are other outstanding issues which I will post elsewhere.

Safari won't work and Software Update doesn't recognise internet connection

I'm using Safari Version 4.0.3 (4531.9) and it won't browse to any website. I initially thought it was a problem with Airport so I unplugged and restarted my Airport device but Safari still wouldn't work. Then I noticed that I was still getting email and when I tried Firefox it worked fine. So I thought perhaps I needed a software update for Safari but when I tried to run Software Update it said it couldn't connect to the server and to check my internet connection. I clicked on the Network Diagnostics link which came back saying that my internet connection was fine. I then Googled a bit using Firefox and saw some posts which suggested move the .plist files out of the Library/Preferences folder. I've moved the com.apple.Safari.plist and com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist for all users. But it still hasn't helped. What should I try now?

Great clue FF uses different DNS & Proxies than Safari that uses Sys Prefs...
Try putting these numbers in Network>TCP/IP>DNS Servers for the Interface you're using...
208.67.222.222

Then Apply. These are safer/faster than most ISP's DNS numbers, and have been patched against DNS poisoning.

Open System Preferences>Network>Configure>Proxies Tab, make sure none are set, like for HTTP & HTTPS.

I tunes wont recognise internet connection

i am trying to use the radio service... but everytime i select the radio option in itunes it comes up with a popup saying that it cant recognise my internet connection and to reconnect.... any tips or helpers would be awesome

Ipod won't recognize internet connection to update 1.2

I downloaded and updated to itunes 7 and the summary tab informs me that new software is available to update my ipod software. When I click on ipdate however it refuses to recognize my internet connection. I am online while this occurs. Since many of my video files just purchased seem to require this software (unless my tv shows won't sync for some other reason)this has been very fustrating.

New accessory keyboard won't allow Internet connection!

I just bought a new Mac keyboard ($29) and when it's plugged into the MBP before start-up, I get "no internet connection" message. I have to start up the MBP then plug in the keyboard.
What's up with that?

Netgear wireless router. Adelphia said that I get disconnected because our router shows a connection for a continuous time. It has been on for over 13 hours and showed a continuous connection.
What I have to do is go to Sys Pref, Network connection and reestablish the connection. It's a pain in the tuckus.

New WRTU54G-TM won't send internet connection to PC

I am trying to install the new T-Mobil router. Everything works according to instructions except for 3 things:
1. The internet connection shows green on the router, but does not pass on through to the PC. I CAN access the router's setup screens with my browser, so I know the Ethernet connection is ok.
2. No blue phone light.
I can always reconnect my old wireless-G router and get back online - how I am connected right now.
3. If I bypass a router completely, and connect the Ethernet cable from the PC directly to my Comcast cable modem, the internet connection fails!
I suspect something is configured wrong in Windows XP Home, SP3.
Why does the old router ALWAYS work, but the T-Mobil / Linksys NEVER does, and a direct connection to the modem does not?

Thanks for your reply. I finally received a call back from T-Mobil's @Home customer service - and the advisor knew exactly what was wrong! I had "reset" the modem several times in my many attempts to get the new T-Mobil router working properly - but I didn't know the modem's back-up battery was allowing the modem to hold prior settings, and thereby not really doing a "reset". After removing the battery and power cable from the modem for about 15 seconds, and then repowering it back up, everything worked right!
I hate to admit how many hours I spent going over TCP/IP settings etc. Then the correct reset of the modem made the modem & router work together.
I hope this might tip off others with broadband modems that have back-up batteries. Just pulling the power cord does not reset the modem completely!

System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

Click OK.
Also, turn off IPv6:
System Preferences » Network » AirPort » TCP/IP tab » Configure IPv6

Imac won't hold internet connection

I just bought airport extreme, and hooked it up via dsl. it works fine with my macbook, but it drops the internet connection on my imac everytime i put it to sleep or shut it down. When I get back on the imac it tells me "you are not connected to the internet". I use the network diagnostics, and it reconnects me after choosing my network config, reselecting my wireless network, and selecting DHCP. I have no issues with my Macbook, I just click on safari and go.
Any ideas on how to keep the imac from dropping the network?

I am having this same problem with my MacBook. It loses the connection when it sleeps or is shut down.

AEBS sends signal but won't recognize internet connection

There was a cut off in the power in my building the other night. Since then, my AEBS has stopped recognizing the internet connection. I ran a diagnostic but it indicated the AEBS was working fine, it was the internet connection that was the problem.
Via my provider's helpline, we needed to resort to setting up via PPoE and direct cable. I'm now connected but as soon as I try to plug back into the AEBS, the signal drops and the PPoE no longer connects. I have a wireless printer and a laptop set up as a wireless workstation so obviously would like the AEBS to work properly.
Any ideas on how to resolve this situation?

Search takes 3 times to recognise internet connection after update

Hi - after updating to iTunes 7.1.1 the Search works only after 3-4 attempts. The error is that it doesnt recognise that I am connected to the Internet and asks me to check my network settings. Only after I press Search 3-4 times does it work. Occassionally it will work 1st time but then I click on a search result and the same thing happens.
I've used iTunes for a few years now and it only happens since this upgrade. The only change I made is adding a Bluetooth dongle to connect to my Nokia phone. Any ideas out there?

WRT54GS Won't Establish Internet Connection

Trying to connect from just a cable, and not from a modem. Using the EasyLink Advisor, and it will not connect to the internet, no matter what I do, or what PC I use. Connected properly. Just trying to use the router for wireless access in a hotel. How do I install it, or configure the PC so it will connect?

Unplug the router cat5 cables
Reset the router so the IP of the router is 192.168.1.1
Don't use the disk
Plug in a cat5 to an ethernet port ont he router and your laptop/PC that you are using to configure it.
Log into the router thru internet explorer at http://192.168.1.1
username/password should be admin/admin
Change the "Local IP" of the router to whatever you want it to be. ie 192.168.2.1
Router will reboot.
Plug a cat5 from the wall to the WAN port on the router.
If your laptop/PC is set for DHCP it should get an IP int he 192.168.2.x range with a gateway of 192.168.1.2
DNS should come thru if the router is set with DHCP too...
you should be good to go.

New Time Capsule won't recognize internet connection.

My modem is working fine -- i'm on the internet via ethernet from the cable modem, through the new TC, to my laptop.
But I can't setup the TC because it's somehow convinced it's not connected to the internet.
Makes it seem like an ignorant little thing. All looks and no brains.

Cable modems come in various varieties.. and the TC does sometimes have issues.
Tell us the exact model.
Some of the later Motorola cable modems.. get listed in this forum area fairly often as having issues.
15min off may not be long enough.. I would try 1hour .. and then overnight.
The TC must get the public IP on the WAN interface otherwise it will fail. That is with a pure modem.. and the TC must be in router mode.
Otherwise if the cable modem is a router then the TC needs to be bridged but from your description that is not the problem in your case.
You can ring apple support in your locality and they will talk you through the setup. At least for the first few weeks or if you have applecare on a computer then you will get support for longer period. If you are struggling with the setup ring apple as some TC do have issues.

WRT325n Internet Connectivity Problem

Hi, I have a WRT325n and every so often it won't allow internet connections. To solve the problem, I have to login to the box and just press save. This reloads it and everything is fine. Im not too sure why this is happening. Has anyone else had this problem? I have the latest firmware release as well.

As long as it has been fully downloaded then you should be able to watch it whilst offline.

Lost my internet connectivity in my HyperV machines when updating to Windows 10 Preview 10061

Windows 10 TP forced me an update to 10061 and this update caused me to loose my internet connectivity in my HyperV machines. I was sharing my wireless connection with an internal Virtual Network Adpater.
Right now I've tried everything. I mean really everything...and no solution.
Its probably another bug from this version but it has a huge impact to whoever is working on development in VM.
Is there any solution at sight? I can't connect the phisical network BTW because I have no access to one where I work.

There are many phases for update, it first check version of your Windows Phone and some additional information and then based in details, it will start downloading the required update file. During these checking you will need internet connection and if internet
connection lost, then the process will stop and you could resume it later and either it will continue or it will restart doing what it been done but it won't bring any harm to your device. Once download is completed, it will start installing the update and
you won't need internet connection while it is installing and after installation been done it will recheck for additional update and you need internet connection.
In general if you suddenly disconnect from internet, it won't bring any harm or damage in your PC and you could resume and continue once you get back your connection. During upgrade , it is important to make sure your device is fully charged, if your phone
suddenly turn off during upgrade process, there might be some problems in some cases.
