Safari can't load adf.ly server, what to do ?

It appears that currently Dynamic Web TWAIN Plug-in for Mac doesn't support Safari 5.0 when it's run in 64-bit mode (5.1 or above is ok) . Therefore you need to run Safari 5.0 in 32-bit in order to use Dynamic Web TWAIN Plug-in for Mac. i changed it to 32bit mode and it worked for adf.ly servers.

  • Safari Not Loading Web Pages (Safari can't connect to the server)

I'm seeing increasing problems with Safari being unable to connect to websites. When the problem starts to manifest itself you see the error:
Safari can't connect to the server.
    Safari can't open the page.
Then you see the URL information. It is always seems to be sites that are trying to load HTTPS pages.
Clearing the cache and resetting Safari will make it go away temporarily, but it always comes back.
Note that when this happens you might happen to see something like this in the address bar:
    file:///Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Resources/

I'm having the same problem, I can open safari but when I try to go to a website it just says "server stopped responding." I just updated to the new version and that's when it started happening, it was working find before the update. Any suggestions???

This is on an iPad, correct? Are you sure you have a network connection? Is your iPad Wifi or Wifi & 3G? I know these might seem like dumb questions, but we've got to narrow it down to get a solution. If you're absolutely positive you have an active network connection we can move on to other things.

  • Safari can't find the facebook server

I apologise if this topic has already been dealt with but I cannot find an answer on this discussion board or the rest of the web.
All I get is "safari can't find the facebook server"
Every other website under the sun works on Safari except facebook. I've reset the cache and done everything else that has been suggested but nothing works. Why just facebook? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

Similar problem, but the delay seems to be cause by any attempt to reach Facebook, even Facebook pages on another web page you are visiting, creates a pop-up redirect to WSearch.net, and then multiple pop-up windows for LivingSocial.com, asking you to choose your locale from a drop down list. This LivingSocial seems to be similar to Groupon.com, offering local deals.
The same result occurs in Firefox in regards to Facebook, with the redirect to WSearch.net. If you have your settings blocking pop-ups, in either Safari or Firefox, the pop-ups do not occur, but it just seems like the page isn't loading because the redirect doesn't happen.
There are many listings in Google Search related to this problem going back to 2008, but no one seems to have a solution. There are occasional references to a Trojan virus that does this, as well as some routers that create the redirect, in hotel wi-fi situations. I'm experiencing this problem while visiting my father at a hospital, using the hospital wi-fi, and did see it happen once at the hotel I'm staying at.

  • Safari can't connect to the server - still causing problems

    Hi
I have read through several topics relating to this problem - but have yet to be able to resolve the issue. So apologies in advance if it has already been answered in one of the many threads.
I have 2 computers both working off the same broadband hub connection.
Both have the same version of the OS and the same version of Safari: OS 10.4.11 and Safari 4.0.4
I have checked that the network settings are the same and all parental control settings are the same.
The laptop will access sites that the desktop will not.
Can anyone shed some light as to why numerous sites I try to access on the iMac result in a Safari message "Safari can’t connect to the server".
Same applies when I attempt the same sites with Firefox.
I have emptied caches, resolved all font issues, addressed terminal and plists etc. etc. - all to no avail.
    Help!!!

Adding Open DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results in terms of speed-up as well as added security:
If you are using a single computer: Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2296
If your computer is part of a network: please refer to this page: http://www.opendns.com/start/bestpractices/#yournetwork and follow the advice given.
You could also try these codes as well: 4.2.2.1 & 4.2.2.2
If you use a Router, make sure it has the latest firmware installed.

  • Safari can't connect to the server, but firefox can

i have a few websites (mainly google sites) that don't show with safari but they do with firefox
i'm getting a "Safari can't connect to the server" error
to take DNS out of the picture i am looking up the ip address for the server and use the ip instead of the domain name so
    http://74.125.19.103/images?client=safari&rls=en-us&q=test&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&um= 1&sa=N&tab=wi
works in firefox but not in safari
any ideas are more than welcome.
    thanks,
    tom

    Hello Tom:
No I meant restart the computer. OS X rebuilds preference files as needed, but I am not sure what it does if you do not restart.
You could also reset Safari (that will also delete your cookies).
Just for the heck of it I would also run permission repair and also run repair disk from your software install DVD (those will probably not fix anything, but it does not take much time either).

  • "Safari can't cnnnect to the server" less often than it should

Very recently, I've had increasing difficulties acccessing certain sites, which respond with a "Safari can't connect to the server." However, when I use a different Mac, there's no problem connecting.
This is a big problem when going to an official site like MacUpdate or Versiontracker. If I try to download, say, a demo of iDefrag, I frequently get the error message. But it happens more frequently than it should with simple web surfing on sites (like http://www.jdorama.com/) I know are online.
Aside from the recent Security Update, the only major change in my system has been that my ISP bumped my DSL speed from about 1.6mb/s to 2.1mb/s.
What might be causing this problem?

Thanks. My hunch is your settings need some refinement. Try these suggestions in your System Preferences> Network panel (I'm assuming you are using the TCP panel for your IP address etc.)
Go to the System Preferences>Network panel
    - Location - set up a personal location by clicking on the drop down menu and selecting "add a location". Use a name familiar to you. Once established, select "apply".
    - Next, click on the "Show" drop down menu and select Network Port Configurations. Only Ethernet ought to be checked, unless you use a Bluetooth device.. Move Ethernet to the top of the list (you can drag it). Select "apply".
    - Back to the "Show" menu, select "Ethernet". Click on the TCP panel. There, enter 208.67.222.222 and
208.67.220.220 (separate lines) in the DNS servers box and select "apply".
Creating a personal location, plus adding the DNS codes seems to speed things up. Otherwise, the "automatic" function has a tendency to "search" for available locations.
In the Finder, go to your Utilities folder and select "Terminal". Once the screen is open enter lookupd -flushcache and press return. This clears out the DNS cache. Once done, quit Terminal.
Give these a try and let me know if you see any improvement.

  • Problem with Safari **Safari can't connect to the server**

My internet is working fine, but I keep having to refresh the page because I'm always getting "safari can't connect to the server".  Same thing happens with different browsers.  I've read a couple things online and unistalled everything that I think is causing the problem but it's still happening frequently.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Most school networks are closed networks. You can access their Intranet, with all the files and peripherals and everything, but you need to have a specific password or IP address to access any outside connection. I have an ibook G4 that's 3 years old. I used it in high-school to access AOL wirelessly. That was before closed and protected networks were prefered. It shouldn't matter if the school intranet is widows based or not. You need to access your own internet service sometimes in order to get any reaction. If you simply use safari, you might only be connecting to the schools intranet, which only links together the schools computers and keeps the system isolated. Also, you need to check your firewall settings, in fact, just turn off the firewall. The schools sytem is firewalled up the bum and you shouldn't get attacks anyway because you're running the mac os.
You might also try an alternative approach. Go into a computer lab, access one of the systems, then go to control panels and look up every connection you can find. Take down all of the info and then see which matches up with similar info on your mac. Then go to another pc and look up the same info again. Is it different? How? Then take that listing to the system administrator and show them. They may not know that a mac has a simpler interface than the pc, so you may have to do some prodding to get them to take a look. If they still tell you it wont work, you could try boot-camp or a virtualizer (to let you run windows alongside the mac os). If you use a virtualizer, you can get your own copy of windows and then share it's connection to the main system to the mac.

  • Iphone 4 error message while in wifi "safari can not open page because server stopped responding" after iOS6 update

I am currently using my Iphone 4 in wifi networks only after canceling my cell phone plan. Over the weekend I did the IOS6 update on the iphone as well as updated my macbooks itunes and OS X operating systems updates that were available.  Since that my iphone's safara app won't connect.  After it trys to connect for a minute or 2 I recieve the message: "safari can not open page because server stopped responding".  However ALL other apps that require the phone to be connected to wifi for use work properly, i.e app store, imessage, pinger, facebook, etc.  I have checked all network setting and they looked right to me.  Anything I'm missing, ideas to try, or am I sol (lol)?  Safari worked perfectly before the update so I thought I might have done something wrong or forgot to change some type of setting.
    Thank you!

If you can access Facebook while on Wifi at home, but you are unable to access it while away running on your carrier's 2G network, I could phone your carrier.  You have already completed the Cellular Data troubleshooting for the iPhone, so any limitations keeping your from connecting to Facebook over cellular will have to be answered by your carrier.

  • "Safari can't connect to the server".

Today when attempting to launch Safari, 'Little Snitch' tells me that:
"Safari wants to connect to www.i.google.com on port 80 / IP address 72.14.213.105 / Reverse DNS Name pv-in-f105.1e100.net "
When I 'Deny' this I get the message that "Safari can't connect to the server".
I do not understand how or why i.google is preventing my access to the web.
It's never happened before and Google is not my home page.
    Do you have any ideas?

    HI,

  • 'Safari can't connect to the server' - not sure why?

    Hi everyone
I've tried looking up past similar questions ( https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3245104 ) but I've been going round in circles a bit so thought I'd try my own post.
My Macbook looks like it's connected to the internet but when I open Safari it says 'Safari can't open the page 'hhtp://www..google.co.uk/' because Safari can't conect to the server www.google.co.uk' and no other web sites will open.
I'm on an old pc at the moment which is working fine and having no problems connecting to the internet, so it seems like just a problem with my macbook.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If any more information helps, it's connected through Airport but won't open web pages. When I try using the ethernet it says 'ethernet has a self assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the internet.'
    Any ideas anyone?
