Same Page definition label in multiple portals giving error in 10.3

Hi,
We are upgrading our Portal app from 8.1 sp6 to 10.3. Our different portals use the same page levels (for the common pages). Now this configuration is giving error in 10.3 during compilation. For us the change the page levels will be big code change. Is there any way to solve the problem.

Yes, in WLP 10.3.x (May be from 9.x onwards..), you cannot have multiple .portal files with same defintion labels for Pages/Books etc. There is a validation code. BUT you can overcome with this. From Workshop IDE top menu open Window -> Preferences. In Preferences window on left side, select Validation node and expand it. On right side, you will see bunch of Validators. Uncheck checkboxes for Manual and Build for entries like "Weblogic Portal Validator", "Weblogic Portal XML Validator" etc. Try "Weblogic Portal XML Validator" first and see if this works. If not, try unchecking other stuff also like "XML Validator" etc etc. Try one at a time.
I am not sure if there are any side effects as the information of all these .portal files gets stored into Database. But I guess the PK will be portal_Def_id, so you may be ok. Give this a shot and see if it works.

I think it can't . the definition label only ca define in the .portal file
,and , just like the porlet's definition label , must define in the .portlet
file ,can't change it throght the Administration portal.

Cross-Tab in multiple columns on same page rather than on multiple pages

I have a report that shows temperature readings and the date/time of the reading in a cross tab as a part of a report. The amount of readings causes the cross-tab to take up multiple pages. What I would like to do is set the cross tab to appear three or four times on the same page before going to the next page to reduce the number of pages in my report. Any ideas on how I can do this?
This is what I have:

Don's suggestion of creating a "mock cross tab" is a good one.
you can also try this Multiple Columns formatting idea if you wish:
1) create a new report
2) create a group on your date field
3) put a summary on your Temp field and move it into the group header of the group
4) suppress the details section and the group footer
5) right click on the details section header in the design mode and choose Section Expert
6) in the Common tab, choose Format With Multiple Columns
7) in the Layout tab, choose a Width of about 2.66"
8) choose Down Then Across for Printing Directions
9) choose Format Groups With Multiple Columns
10) bring this new report into your existing report as a subreport

Every Iview in Portal giving error

Hi All
1. I have applied SP15
2. Uninstalled JDK 1.4.2_06 and JRE
3. Installed JDK 1.4.2_09
Now every iview is giving same error. Like when I click on Content Administration > Webdynpro it is giving following error :

Import of Portal giving errors---urgent........

hi all,
We exported the portal successfully ;however when we try to import the same on to a different database(same version) the import fails when the import encounters a wrapped package(We could land at this conclusion cos when we tried to import a schema without any wrapped packages the import was successful).We are using a par file for achieving the import..The database version on both the m/c's is 9.0.1.2.The error message being displayed on unsuccessful termination of the import is:-
IMP-00003: ORACLE error 3113 encountered
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
Searching the metalink proved to be futile cos no specific information regarding the same was provided.
Any information provided would be welcome...

The problem lies in your database. This is definitely not a portal related issue. Please contact your DBA for setting right the database so that you can proceed with your stuff.

EXTREMELY URGENT - Ultrasearch integration with portal giving errors

i'm creating a portal source for Ultrasearch and when i register the portal site with Ultrasearch i get the following error -

Oracle Ultra Search Error
Could not retrieve data from Oracle 9iAS portal. Please make sure that the URL base is correct and that the portal is
operational.
------ END ERROR -------
i looked into the error.log file in $APACHE_HOME/Apache/logs and found the following in the error log file -
http 404 - portal.home.wwsbr_srchxml.execute : Procedure does not exist
can anyone explain what this means ....
i looked for wwsbr_srchxml package and it is valid and owned by portal.
ideas ...?
any help will be greatly appreciated ....

Issue:
Couldn't register the portal as a data source within the UltraSearch
Resolution:
When registering the portal URL Base it executes a procedure on the portal schema (using the part of the portal.home to execute the procedure)
There for to register we have to use http://hostname:port/pls/portal/portal
The last "portal" is whats used to execute the wwsbr_srchxml.execute procedure.
The log in the Apache/Apache/logs/error_log...

portal.home.wwsbr_srchxml.execute: PROCEDURE DOESN'T EXIST
so basically its looking for portal.home.wwsbr_srchxml.execute which doesn't exist, since its inside the portal schema not the "portal.home" schema.

Enterprise portal giving error

hi friends , till mondy my EP module was starting, today it has stopped. i had only applied some new SP7 patches to make my VC work however it resulted in failure of EP.

i am getting following error

Hi Rohit,
From the exception, it seems that the upgrade of the WAS hasn't been successful - so you haven an inconsistence between the portal (referring TracingConsts) and the WAS (not providing the class).

I would suggest to upgrade completely to SPS8 or 9 to recreate the consistency.

GRC AE User provisioning for Portal giving error

Hi,
We are having GRC AC 5.3- SP9.
While doing user provisioning for Portal, we are getting the following error: DBCacheVerifier.java@58:isExpired(). Detailed error log is attached herewith. The back end system (EP Dev) is installed with GRC RTA. Connectors are testing OK. The CPIC user id in backend system EPDev is ED1GRC and has SUPER ADMIN Authorizations, with SPML read/write actions attached to the Role. EP Dev system is having UME as data source, not LDAP. The issue was existing even before the SP9 upgrade. We have restarted the Server several times lately. Pls help me in this.

This type of error would normally be a data setup issue. Have you imported all of the initial data files (XML ones)?
Otherwise, if it is just a cache issue, then restarting the server would normally solve the proplem. I would also check the Java Netweaver Admin console to ensure that the memory settings are sufficiently configured to match the hardware that is deployed.

Can we use same data definition with multiple concurrent programs?

My requirement is as below:
I have two concurrent programs (say CP1 and CP2), both concurrent programs need to use same data definition (the same data template xml file) and same RTF layout template. However when registering data definition in the E-Biz, the data definition code must match concurrent program, hence I have to create two definitions (for the same data template xml file) and because layout template is attached with data definition I have to duplicate the layout definition also.
In summary, i have to create two (duplicate) Data Definition and Layout Template for the same dataTemplate.xml and Layout.rtf files. Is there any way to avoid this duplication?
The only issue with duplication is any change in xml or rtf needs to be updated in all the four definitions (2 data definitions and 2 layout definitions).

We faced the same issue after upgrade to EHP1 SP07 last week and managed to solve it by modification of layout.jsp and com.sap.nw.wpc.layoutmanager.LayoutBean within com.sap.nw.wpc.designtime.par. SAP's code requires an additional catch handler, so it is better to rise an OSS message.
As a workaround you may change a default layout for wpc main page (good for new pages) or manually edit output.xml for existing pages.

Error while adding a second template to the same data definition

Hi,
I am quite new to XML Publisher. I am developing a report using XML Publisher.
I have added one template to the Data Definition. When I tried to add another Template(with different name as previous, to the same concurrent program and application) to the same Data Definition I am getting the following error.
Error: You entered a duplicate template entry. Please change the Name, Code and/or Application and reapply.
Can anyone help me out solving this problem. I am reaching my deadline. Please suggest me what can be done.

Thank you amrute for your reply. You are right we do faced similar issues in many other occations and sent exact data and could resolve the issues. In this case also we have given in exact format for all fields. Date format as given in this case is same as what was given in another working XI scenario. However I look at the data type of date to be sure.
As you see the message is regarding partner and partner function. If you have any other point of view may please be indicated.

How can I have use the same div ID multiple times on the same page?

Okay so a problem I encounter a lot is that often times I want to use the same div ID several times on the same page. An example of this is when I'm creating table like designs.
Let's say for instance I create a div ID called 'product-container'. I want to use 'product-container' multiple times on the same page but if I do this it is improper XHTML and will throw errors in any XHTML validator (you are only allowed to use a div ID once on any XHTML page in order for it to be standards compliant).
Now the first option is that I could define 'product-container' in my CSS style sheet multiple times by doing something like this...

     width: 300px;
What you will see there however is that it seems pointless to define the same ID numerous times over (just adding a number on the end) when each ID is the exact same thing and has the exact same attributes.
Now what I have noticed is that there are some sites out there who manage to have the same ID appear several times in the code but add a number to it just like above. The difference is that they only have one definition for 'product-cointainer' in their CSS document but in their actual XHTML code they have IDs for 'product-container' but with numbers on the end like 2,3,4,5, etc. It's almost as if JavaScript or some other code is automatically appending a number on the end of the ID so the validator won't consider the markup to be invalid, but yet it knows that it's using the same 'product-container' style that is contained in the CSS style sheet.
I hope I explained this correctly. I'm just hoping to find a way that I can put the same div ID on a page multiple times without having to define it over and over again in my CSS.

An ID name can be used only one time per page. A class name can be used multiple times per page.

Accessing multiple portals at the same time?

Is it possible to access multiple portals at the same time?
For example, what I want to achieve is different properties (layout,
portlets, look & feel) for different groups of users accessing the same
portal. The Associated Groups part on the Portal admin page is not
fulfilling our requirements. So we decided to have different portals for
different groups of users, all working through one portal, and accessing
their custom portals. Is this achievable?
What we are thinking is: put the common functionality in the repository
portal directory, and the custom portlets/jsps in the group-specific portal
directories. This way we can customize portal behavior for different groups
of users. Is this achievable?

Both Mail and Safari have Activity Options that open a screen that shows you just how the site or mail is loading.
In Safari if you are having trouble with a site in activity you will see the count of items being downloaded - and if an error occurs it shows red.
On the top is the number of items it is loading or trying to load and the count should be increasing. If the count stops, and you don't have errors it may be that too many people are going after the same site and your request just timed out. Have had the time out on a news site when trying to load a most popular article.
